We were shocked by how grubby the Ventura cabin was. The walls were covered in clearly visible hand prints and dirty marks. It was clear that these were not the result of a failure to clean following the departure of the previous guests but the result of several months of use. The balcony window had so many different hand prints that a forensic crime investigation would have resulted in several hundred suspects! Although we had chosen the cabin due to its larger balcony we did not venture onto it for the entire voyage. Peering past the window dabs we could see worn out balcony furniture coated with accumulated bird droppings and rusty ironwork and dirty worn matting. We quietly invited the Steward to our cabin and very politely explained our concerns. We were told that cabins were only subject to a “quick (minimal) clean between occupants but assured, in response to our complaint that, a more thorough clean would then be done. When we returned to our cabin there was no noticeable improvement. Read Less

Immaculately clean and well maintained by our Cabin Steward Nora. Nice toiletries - White Company. Lovely towels. Excellent shower and water which was always hot. Excellent hanging space and plenty of drawer storage. Great position with easy access to all decks. A couple of minor points - the cabin would benefit from a privacy curtain separating the 2 sleeping areas and also hooks in the entrance corridor for coats etc. Read Less

Cabin had filthy carpets and the grouting in the bath was dirty. Bath plug didn't work so the water either ran out continuously or if the plus was tightened to stop this, the bath wouldn't empty. Second TV didn't work. Minor point but would have been nice to have had the choice esp as I caught the P&O cough and was confined to the cabin for the last four days. Weather was so cold and windy the large balcony was of no use. Just as well as the chairs are old and badly weathered and very uncomfortable. The cushions are thin and cheap - these are not expensive items and plump ones would make a big difference. Beds were reasonably comfortable... Our cabin steward did his very best but had 17(!) cabins to do and by the end of the cruise though cheerful looked exhausted. I suspect some of our older fellow passengers nearby may have been messier than we were as by the time he got round to doing ours we just said could he change the towels and empty the bins and we'd manage the rest. I didn't actually see the carpet vacuumed once during our 12 days. It badly needed shampooing with a carpet machine which would only have taken half an hour. Read Less

Our cabin was port rear on deck 9 (D612), it was a very good size; it is described as an superior deluxe balcony. The décor and fittings were in reasonable shape. Between the bathroom and main room is a spacious hanging area that really works well. The beds are high enough to take some pretty big suitcases underneath. There is a spacious sitting area with a sofa, chair and variable height table. The balcony does not have an overhang and can be overlooked (no topless sun bathing here!), but it is a good size. Our steward Denzil looked after us well, and was always keen to do more. This grade of cabin comes with fluffy bathrobes, binoculars, atlas and on embarkation Champagne and chocolates. This cabin was very quiet, nothing rattled, but when they test the lifeboats which are immediately under the cabin, the noise of machinery is deafening! Lifeboat tests are usually on port days and at fairly sociable times, any other time and I would be very worried! Read Less

We were mid ship, deck 9. Great views from balcony... No teak balcony furniture as advertised though... Not a big deal but don't quote it if it's not there! Good sized bathroom, big, comfortable bed. Large seating area and wardrobe. As we had booked a superior deluxe balcony cabin we had a bottle of champagne and chocolates waiting for us however our fruit bowl turned up 4 days into our cruise, not sure where the flowers were and no pamper pack!, ok no life or death stuff but if you've paid extra for that particular cabin then it should be as advertised Read Less

Wonderful! The extra space was worth it. When we felt we needed some "us" time away from everyone, we never felt cramped in our cabin. The location amidships was great, too, even though you could hear music from above at night from the balcony, which we didn't use after dark. Don't worry about the overhang from other cabins above you. It isn't a problem. Everyone was respectful of each other's space. There wasn't really any noise from other cabins except when the doors were being shut, which isn't bad, really. We also liked that it was on the starboard side - lots of sun! A perfect cabin.
