Just returned from a fabulous 7 day cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan-Honduras, Belize and Cozumel. The Caribbean Princess is one of the bigger ones and has just been outfitted with Ocean Medallion. The biggest plus for this is the excellent internet service. You can now purchase internet for the entire voyage. It is quick and you don't have to log in and out to save minutes. BUT be sure to purchase on the first day at a greatly reduced price. The ports on this itinerary were excellent - 4 days of non-stop fun. The entertainment on board was fabulous. It was nice to see new shows and entertainers and Princess is really trying to appeal to a younger crowd now with their shows. There was a much younger crown on board than I've previously seen on Princess but there was something for everyone-us slightly older folk and the younger cruisers. I can always count on Princess to deliver a quality experience. Entertainment is one of their specialties with the Voice of the Ocean to culminate a great week of entertainment and game shows/trivia. If there is a choir offered on board, I always join that as it's a great way to meet people. This time you could learn the steel drums and our fellow passengers delivered a really great concert on the final day. Grand Cayman- port is right downtown George Town. I did the tourist things like going to the Tortolla/Rum factory for tastings (very busy place), visiting the town of Hell and going to the Turtle Farm - I really enjoyed them all. Then I bought a brand watch in town - was very grateful for the Princess discount offered to me. Roatan-Honduras-this is a beautiful port made specifically by Carnival Corp. I did a dolphin encounter to Anthony's Key Resort. I loved the small group we had and the fact that our dolphins were in a very beautiful, natural setting. They were very healthy and having so much fun with us. The trainer was excellent. It is only an encounter, not a swim though. Water was lovely and warm. Then back at port, I couldn't resist taking the chair lift to Mahogany Bay beach - a man-made beach resort - I enjoyed the ride so much I did it twice. It costs US$14 at the port or US$12 bought through Princess for unlimited rides. Great views as you are taking the 5min ride and right next to the cruise ship. The beach area is noisy though and appeals to a younger crowd. I was so glad to hear that the port area provides lots of jobs for the locals as this is a very poor island and is an eye opener to see. You need to have compassion for the locals. Belize-the people of Belize are very warm and friendly. I took the tour to the Lamanai ruins. It was the highlight of my trip. You are taken by bus to a boat dock area and taken by speedboat to the Archaeological site of Lamanai deep in the jungle. We did an hour's hike round 4 of the best sites - the Jaguar Temple, the High Temple, the Mask Tempe and the Ball Court. You could climb a staircase they had built to the top of the High Temple - highly recommended - views are amazing. It feels surreal standing on top of a structure that was built over 3000 years ago. Walking trails are uneven so wear good closed toed shoes and it is HOT so bring lots of water. Back at the boat dock we were given a nice lunch of chicken, rice and beans, potato salad and fruit punch - all very welcome after a hot hike. Cozumel-I did a dolphin swim at this port and an encounter with manatees which are sweet, docile creatures. This is a commercial facility that churns out dolphin swims by the thousands each day so, whereas I was glad to fulfill a bucket list item of swimming with dolphins, I enjoyed my gentle encounter at St. Anthony's Key Roatan much more. The port shopping area is teeming with multiple ship loads of people so be aware of the crowds. Overall I chose this itinerary because of the port stops on offer and felt that visiting 4 ports in the 7 days made my trip really good value. Highly recommended. Read Less

I had a cruise credit with NCL that was expiring. I selected this cruise for itinerary. The price was fair for two but I feel it unfair to double the rate for one person. I do not eat or require twice the food or service. The ports were good, service was very good. Shows were good since I rarely attend them, I managed to go to 4 out of the 10 and was surprised. The crew dance group were very good.. The food was good and open dining was quite easy with good selection of restaurants to choose from. The staff was very nice and always helpful. 80 countries represented. I have to comment on the room service charge ($7.95). This was a first for me, as in the past breakfast delivery has ALWAYS been free. I would recommend bringing a wrap as most of the time the public rooms were chilly. Overall it was a good cruise. I'm platinum on NCL and Carnival. I prefer not to fly so I generally cruise out of NY or Baltimore. I chose this cruise as it was my 50th bday and didn't want to do the usual 7 day cruise to the Bahamas. I took my entire family on this trip (8 of us) and 3 friends came as well. I upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite on the private Haven floor, room 14006. My family, friends, and I had an excellent time. The food was great. Service in the Grand Pacific dining room the 1st night didn't go so well, but we'll chuck it up to our large group and 1st cruise night issues. My only 2 complaints are: 1. They skipped the last port of St Thomas Mon 3/25/19 because they were expecting a storm on Wednesday and wanted to get ahead of it. Other passengers stated they were on this same cruise before and the same thing supposedly happened. 2. We were supposed to arrive back in NY at 10am. I had hired a limo service to pick us up at 11am. We arrived in NY at 6am and they MADE us get off the ship BY 10am (the time we were SUPPOSED to arrive) so my family and friends had to stand outside for over an hour in 40 degree cold waiting for our ride from PA because NCL didn't stick to their own itinerary & because the inside terminal was closed due to the ship not picking up any new passengers as the ship was repositioning to Boston. This was my 7th time on the NCL Gem. I enjoy this ship. I truly enjoy the Haven and have sailed in that type of room often. I did have an excellent 50th birthday, my family truly enjoyed themselves. However an otherwise perfect cruise was tainted by an inconvenient, avoidable, and frustrating debarkation. Read Less

If you like being herded on huge ships, this is not for you. If you enjoy dodging electric carts on board, this is not for you. If you want to be in a crowded theatre, this is not for you. If you like to pay extra to get the best dining selections, this is not for you. If you take youthful children and have someone entertain them, this is not for you. If you need to stop a large, overcrowded ports with multiple trinket store, this is not for you. If you’re a couch potato, this is not for you. If you need to be hoisted by an elevator, this is not for you. However, there are a multitude of reason to consider the Star Clippers and, especially, the Royal Clipper. First, it’s very comfortable to be on a ship where the staff and most passengers know your name. It’s nice to be served by professionally educated and trained personnel. It’s nice to be entertained by wonderful local musicians. It’s exciting to see 5,400 sq.ft of sails be unfurled and set. It’s relaxing to feel the ocean breeze and the sea spray. It’s fun to visit small ports and have access to beautiful beaches. It’s amazing to look up at any of the five masts that are neatly 180 ft. high and be able to climb to a crow’s nest 75 ft. above the deck. It’s nice to be casually dressed every evening. It’s nice to have a wide selection of delicious choice at every meal. It’s nice to pay $3.50 for beer and wine and under $6.00 for mixed drinks. It’s nice to have so many water sports available from a ramp that is lowered from the stern. It’s nice to know that more than half of the passengers have been aboard the Royal Clipper previously. It’s nice from the beautiful maroon mahogany paneling to the special dinnerware. The niceties go on and on. Yes, we will be back for many more adventures on The Royal Clipper. I have taken 30 other cruises, most on the most luxurious, and have visited 93 countries. I have found the niche that I enjoy most. Ahoy, mate! Read Less

It is a wonderful mix of people and every passenger on board was so fun and excited and so sweet to everyone else. The stage shows that they put on our like a broadway musical and the performers can sing with the best of them! They have a full range of things for you to do whether it’s hanging by the 5 pools and jacuzzi’s they have, learning about the many secrets of pirate treasure, world class shopping with incredible deals, or anything else you can think of, there is never ever a dull moment. Everything was so smooth especially with their new medallion you use for everything!! It is the best thing out there!! 100% recommend!!! Read Less

Did not know what to expect on this our first cruise as we had read so many varied reviews, but we could not fault our cruise experience, we booked a large balcony cabin and it was perfect, we had our own sun lounger, table with 2 chairs and a hammock! It was ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle of the pool deck areas and really chill out. Okay the Marella explorer is not brand new and not as huge as some of the other cruise ships but for us it as just right. The main self service dinning room served a good range of hot and cold dishes which changed daily, and if you wanted a full English breakfast you'd have to go a long way to beat it, we also tried out the specialty restaurants, some you had to pay a cover charge for, but well worth it, and the all inclusive drinks package was the best we ever had, all the top and well known beers and spirits. We can't praise all the staff on-board enough, from the cleaners to the ships Captain, nothing was too much. Plenty of hand sanitisers' everywhere, entertainment and activities were suited to all age groups and were well organised, The only thing I would do differently next time would be to book shore excursions on-board the ship, yes they are more expensive than doing it yourself but it saves the hassle of being pestered by the hoards as you walk out of the port area into local towns, overall we had a fantastic first cruise experience and certainly do it all over again, especially on the Marella Explorer. Having cruised "Princess" before, I was pretty sure that this would be a great cruise, and at a reasonable cost. I WAS RIGHT. Embarkation/Debarkation fast, and painless. Cabin was just a bit larger than some of the other lines I've sailed recently. Food was very good, and the buffet was OUTSTANDING. Service in the buffet was very, very good as well. BIG shows were much better than the recent offerings, on some other lines, and the presence of LIVE MUSICIANS was a surprise offering. Crew was great overall, with the only exception the wait staff at my table. They were slow, and always blaming someone else for their lack of service. (Kitchen is slow, etc.,etc.,etc. Food in the dining room was, good, but IMO, nothing exceptional. With the outstanding buffet, and several extra cost restaurants, there is no reason to be anything but pleased with the food offerings aboard this fine ship. Read Less

First cruise with Norwegian and first Caribbean cruise, leaving from Miami and visiting Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St Kitts, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Martin, hopefully the first of many. Embarkation process was good, there's often a little queuing to be done but chill, you're on holiday, so tell your face! We had an inside cabin which was more than adequate and the bathroom was bigger than some I've had on other ships. Our steward was great and the clever towel animals he left always made us smile! The food was amazing and more than enough choice in the included restaurants, so we didn't try any speciality dining. Our favourite was the Grand Pacific for ambience but the choice in the buffet was fabulous and great quality also. As we had a few early starts with excursions we ordered room service on a few mornings (included) which was a very welcome addition. They did make a few mistakes but these were rectified with a phone call. We bought the beverage package but it does NOT include the Starbucks coffee, so be aware. We found staff at all the bars to be friendly and helpful, especially Marcia in Bliss. Cocktails under $15 are included and as most of them were we enjoyed trying a few different ones! Entertainment was good, nothing spectacular, but good, apart from the "Las Vegas" singer singing Whitney Houston songs who I think would have been more suited to Tina Turner than Whitney! The aerial due were fantastic and I think I've seen them on another ship. We entered a few quizzes which were fun, but didn't play in the casino or bingo, which I thought was quite expensive at $39 for the smallest package! I did treat myself to some spa time, although I did think their prices very high, even for a cruise ship. I think the norm is about £1 (75c) per minute but their prices are more than double that. I did think their spa package was good value though, $219 for the week (about £24 per day) for the use of all the facilities - sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, therapy pool, relaxation beds, etc. We had booked an excursion at each port, again a bit pricey but not having been before thought it best. If visiting again however I would definitely make transport enquiries and explore myself. Enjoyed all the excursions bar St. Lucia Historical Island Tour which was very rushed and a waste of time really; the best by far was the Legendary Kon Tiki Beach and Sightseeing in St. Thomas, which was fabulous fun and not to be missed! My travelling companion was a cruise virgin and has already asked if I'd like to join her on another one next year - yay! another convert! She loved it and, like me, found nothing of note to complain about, so those that do are either extremely unfortunate, VERY hard to please or just miserable and looking for something to complain about! Norwegian Jade and this route definitely recommended! Read Less

Finally got to take another cruise from my bucket list. Sailed on Riviera and found the staff very enjoyable. Everyone were more than happy to help in anyway to make my stay with them an enjoyable one. I had dinner at Red Ginger (get the Sea Bass), Polo Grill, Toscana and the Main Dining room. All the meals were delicious and I found the wait staff very friendly. I can’t wait for my next cruise. Being a solo traveller, I decided to sign up for some of the ships tours. The kayaking experience was very interesting with our tour guide filling us in on the sea life around Great Stirrup Cay. I think the group thoroughly enjoyed his talk. Another day found me on a trolley train in St.Lucia. It was a great ride and our conductor was a very funny man. We got to see through the town of Castries, as well as a ride to a lovely beach, it was a fun day for everyone. We were never far from areas to shop at any of the islands that we visited. I did overdue it a little bit at the jewelry table on the ship, but that’s what vacations are all about. Touring by day, shopping by night! The catamaran sail at Sr. Bart’s was a wonderful way to spend time there. While many found the shopping very expensive, I found the sailing and swimming in the cove to be a wonderful way to spend the day. I would highly recommend any of these tours. Disembarkation was smooth and timely. A shout out as well to Judy for all her hard work. Read Less

We chose this ship for the ports. The ship is smaller than we have been on before, therefore we felt more motion. We stayed on the 9th floor. Bring a sweater because the ship is “over” air conditioned which isn’t enjoyable. We ate in a the dining room and 3 specialty restaurants. Teppanyaki, Le bistro and Cagney’s steakhouse. All of these were fantastic!!! The ship does not have straws, which is frustrating when you want to enjoy a mojito with out getting spearmint in your teeth. Either pack straws or grab some at the ports. There was only 3 comedy shows all week. Elements show was fantastic. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was always clean. The ship charges $6 for a bottle of water, so we went to the bar and took back 4 cups of water every night to have beside our bed. We used our on-board credit in the gift shop and casino. Read Less

I was aboard the Jade for a 6 day sailing last week (Feb 2019) I frequently cruise with NCL and I love their staff and all the amenities NCL offers On my recent cruise however the word DISAPPOINTMENT doesnt even begin to describe my emotion. My cabin was VERY well kept and clean. I found it very charming compared to the super vessels I have been on. Dining in the specialty restaurants is always wonderful and never disappoints. The shows which highlighted the acrobatics of 2 wonderful performers was outstanding. Service on NCL also is top notch. I love the fact that corporate WANTs staff to engage with guests. Two of my favorite staff membes were my cabin steward and a server in the Atrium Now for the not so great-----I was Extremely disappointed with the solo program. Our solo coordinator was given NO support by cruise director. The cruise director was present on the first sea day when I addressed the solo program and he did NOTHING to improve things. The solo coordinator was charming and tried very hard but with no suppport was unable to produce the type of solo program I am used to. I was shocked at cruise director's's disinterest in light of my wonderful prior experiences with solo get togethers on other ships. NCL was the pioneer and IS the leader in recognizing that solo travelers are one of the fastest growing demographics in the travel industry; one would not know this however from the Jade program. I HOPE with a new staff member who just came from the Breakaway coming aboard things will change for the better. I know one solo who told me she will not sail NCL again because of her dissappointment with the lack of activities, inabaility to book shows or dinners, etc for the solos. The fault lies with cruise director and NOT the solo coordinator Read Less

This was my second time on Star Flyer that sailed out of St Marten to the Leeward Islands, Nevis, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Antigua and St. Barth. I was solo and surprised that I was upgraded from category 6 to category 5 which was very convenient to all areas, cabin 404. Ship routine was same as last year except the cruise director gave a talk on each port on the bridge before we got to the islands, this was helpful and don't think I missed it last year but anyway I was glad they did this. The lure of these trips is everything the large cruise ships lack, no crowds, small ports, very relaxed atmosphere. There were many from UK, Canada, Germany, and US on our trip. Food on Star Flyer is very good to my taste. I am not a gourmet but every meal I had was very good, only breakfast buffet I have seen that had crispy and non crispy bacon. Only negative is it took over two hours for dinner which is way longer than I am used to but this may be due to I was seated at table for 8 each night where last year I was at table for 4. They do a great job of seating you with other people and they were all very welcoming to me as a solo. We sailed over 80% of the time according to the Captain and only one night did it get "bumpy". I am not a sailor but am amazed to watch the sails and the sailors who operate the ship. I did only one ship excursion of a tour of Nevis which gave a tour of the entire island, I only wish we could have stayed longer on each island but understand time and sailing. I feel very fortunate to be able to sail on these ships due to specials where they sometime remove the single supplement and will be on the Royal Clipper in March out of Barbados. Read Less

This was part of back to back cruises. There was an outbreak of Neuro Virus on the cruise before. At check in they continuously gave false info kept people waiting for hours overloading the terminal. They never said outright at terminal there was an outbreak. They did not give us option to cancel at pier and get money back. When on board we called NCL and my agent called NCL. They refused to offer us a thing. The ship was a complete mess Everything was cleared away. No menus on bars no spa no vacuum for a week. Service was just absolutely awful and NCL just has terrible customer relations and just don't care. Other cruise lines that had this kind of outbreak offered you option to not sail and refund your money or sail get partial money back and large discounts on next cruise On top of that right while we were sailing they removed tons of drinks from the menu and made their prices outrageous You now have to buy a premium drinks package above the regular one at $35 a day to cover it. That was not available yet. The only thing was after a wrote a stinging not to hotel director did customer service supervisor do something for me on second part of cruise. The Epic just had a crash and NCL refused to give any money back. Only 50% off on next cruise. This CEO is really something. No customer relations at all. They just don't care about anything or anybody. Read Less

As one of the smaller Royal Caribbean ships, this was perfect for a 4 night cruise. There was enough to do but not too much. All the staff I encountered seemed friendly and committed to helping us have a good time. As a smaller ship, the pool areas were not as crowded as other ships which was nice. However, the hot tubs tended to be a little more crowded. I spent half a day at sea sitting out working on my tan. The water in the pool was chilly so I only stuck my feet in. I was in a junior suite which was large and had a balcony that I enjoyed sipping wine on before heading out for dinner in the main dining room. The food and service was very good in the dining areas. I wished for more food availability in the common areas after 9:30 pm but service at the adult pool was decent. Overall, it was a fun and relaxing trip. Read Less

Wonderful ship and crew... all the amenities without the amusement park. The ships staff and services was a bit overwhelmed the second week which was Christmas but they still tried very hard to accommodate 500 more people than the normal sailing. Entertainment was great and I highly recommend Kori Simon in the Piano bar and Barbi McCulloch and the ships entertainers in the show ENCORE! The Secret Silk show was ambitious as well. Dining was varied and always wonderful and the ships International Cafe and coffees were a great addition. If visiting Roatan I highly recommend going off the regular choices and seek out Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout. It was an amazing tour and the highlight of my trip. Check them out on TripAdvisor and reserve your spot ahead of time. Alexander, the ships cruise director was a pro and his staff kept everything running like clockwork. For Barbados, St. Thomas and St. Lucia ports which I'd never been to before. The weather was great at all the ports except the cold in NYC where we started. It was cold until we got down to Florida and encountered rain the night before we got back to NYC. All ports were average ports, but Barbados, where most of us complained. We were the 3rd ship in port, but even so, the walkway for us to the terminal needs to be improved. It was totally impassable for any wheelchair. There were stairs at least 2 other times where the other ships were docked at which we had to go up/down. They ran a shuttle for people that were unable to walk, but the traffic on the road was busy with painting cranes and trucks. Did NCL beach excursions on all ports except St. Lucia, where I took a tour to the Pitons. All were enjoyable. I had a studio close to the lounge (love the cappuccino machine for morning coffee). It was similar to the lounge in the Epic, but had 11 "scenic" screens....no tv and no bartender after 5 p.m., but a wine vending machine. The gym would be very crowded during the day, so went at 9 p.m. to beat the crowds. Thought it should be bigger for 4200 cruisers. Our solo host was Silvia and she organized dinners, shows and dancing for the singles in the group. They'd invite all to meet in the Lounge at 5 p.m. daily, even if not in a studio (listed on the daily activity newsletter). This was my first time at NYC (Manhattan) port, but found it was very easy to get on/off the ship. Read Less

The Bad : Ship shakes under sail and unbelievably worse in port, especially annoying when you are dining. Common areas good condition but we had hit and miss cabins this fall and winter, some ok and some awful condition. Ship staff said they can’t update the rooms without a dry dock and the company keeps putting that off. Personally had and witnessed some negative interactions with the Guest Services Staff. As typical of the brand no built in activies for active adults and children. Just off a Christmas cruise on another ship of the brand, many families cruising and the young people were bored out of their minds. Royal Caribbean, Carnival or Norwegian would have been a better choice for a family vacation. The Good: The company has invested in Internet upgrades for this ship. Room and Dining staff generally excellent as is usual throughout the brand. Food quality and selection was on par with the brand and far superior to Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Was really looking forward to this cruise to try the new Medallion and the new (and supposedly improved) bedding. The Medallion experience worked pretty good the first week in getting into my cabin, but then it pretty much quit working. The internet with the Medallion was a joke and most passengers spent most of their time waiting for one of the crew to help them getting logged on and off (worked much better the old way - in my opinion). Wanted to check out future cruises but couldn't look at Princess.com without using my own minutes (used to be able to do this before Medallion). You ask me why I wanted to look up future cruises on my own. Well, that would be because the Future Cruise Planner was very rude and didn't have time for passengers. We were told "If you know where you want to go and when, write it down and submit it and it'll get booked". Not at all what my fellow passengers nor I am used to. Very poor representative of Princess! Now to the absolute worst part of the cruise: the bedding. I've slept on the floor and had it more comfortable. There were huge dips in the bed and kept rolling into them even when I tried to sleep in the middle of two twins put together. The biggest issue were the pillows. My neck hurt every morning when I got up and one morning it hurt so bad it made me so sick that I vomited. If they spent so much time on creating this new bedding, I really feel they wasted a huge part of their life! There were some good things about the cruise, but someone should really look at the personnel and that are dealing directly with the passengers as they could use some much needed coaching! Read Less

I have cruised several times in the past with several cruise lines but this one is the best so far, I have cruised with Princess Cruises to Mexico before, this time to Eastern Caribbean (from Port Everglades, Princess Cays, San Juan Puerto Rico, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk/Caicos then back to Everglades) I enjoyed this cruise more than I just had to the Mediterranean last month with other cruise line. From embarkation to the end until disembarkation it was perfect, no problems encountered, staff members were awesome, their professionalism is impeccable, from stateroom keeper to dining room staff. I enjoyed dancing with STATIC BAND perform, they are very good, variety of music is delightful. I danced every night to lose the calories I've gained from the dining room. Food was great, from buffet to formal dining. I am for sure going to book another cruise in the very near future. Read Less

This ship is pretty and because it is new, does not have the usual wear and tear. The dining choices are good (but you basically have to spend extra $ to get a decent dinner). Guys Pig has a good bbq lunch that is free. The bad: Havana: We paid significantly more for havana rooms in order to avoid crowds at the pool. But the Havana pool was actually more crowded. It was loud, packed and had no chairs. Not worth it. New elavators: Big swing and a miss here. They SUCK. They take longer, confuse the elderly. The screens used to select floors work poorly. Carnival needs to ditch this system. Beds: the “king” bed is two smaller beds pushed together. But the mattresses push apart, leaving a canton in the middle of the bed. Dining: The main dining room anytime system sucks. You have to check in on a screen far away from the dining room. It is chaos. Long lines, too crowded. Gym: the gym is WAY too small for a ship this size. Read Less

I read several reviews on this site before deciding to book. I normally stick with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity and have 30 cruises under my belt. I've done Princess, Holland America, NCL, RCCL, and Celebrity. During and after my cruise, I was wondering if I had been on the same ship as the people who were so critical of the NCL Getaway. Granted it's not a top of the line cruiseship, but it definitely delivered great food, lots of fun things to do, a very diverse clientele, great pools and water parks, and pretty good food. So here are the things that I really liked and didn't like about my cruise as compared to what I'm used to on RCCL and Celebrity. Liked: - Self-serve soft ice cream that ALWAYS worked - The NCL mobile app is awesome on board! - The use of lights instead of cards for do not disturb, make up my room, and I'm in my room - Margaritaville - Lots of diverse bars - Quality and selection of food - The spa is definitely worth the extra money--amazingly relaxing and great place to watch - Coffee (which another reviewer said sucked) - Very few wheelchairs and motorized carts (because it's a younger group of people) - Lots of restaurants have alfresco dining on the deck (excellent idea!) - Lots of separate places for adults, children, and teens (even an adults only pool) - Breakfast pizza - 3D movies in the auditorium with free popcorn - Not having to "check out" pool towels against your room card - Harvest Caye in Belize is amazing--so huge and new! - Having the pool to myself while in port - Made to order dessert crepes in the buffet area Disliked: - Poor selection on TV (but why watch TV when you're on a cruise) - Toiletries in the room (bring your own soap and shampoo, which I always do anyway) - Having to get or buy tickets for some of the entertainment shows - Women cleaning the men's restrooms (awkward) - WiFi sucks (but it does on most ships anyway) - Fish and chips in Cagneys (I don't recommend it) I never saw stained towels like some of the reviews mentioned. My cabin was spotless and the cabin attendant was extremely responsive. Onboarding and deboarding were completely painless, smooth, and very, very quick. All in all, it was a great cruise. I booked a week before it sailed as a last-minute getaway from work and traveled alone since my partner couldn't make it. I was offered the opportunity to upgrade from an inside cabin to a balcony for a small fee, which I took and glad I did. Traveling alone worked fine. I don't like the regular restaurants that much anyway, so the buffet worked well for almost every meal. BTW, if you're into snorkeling, definitely go to the Chankanaab Beach Park in Cozumel either on your own (with a taxi) or through a shore excursion. You won't regret it. Harvest Caye in Belize was spectacular. Very modern, clean, beautifully landscaped, great beach, and amazing pool with a swim-up bar. Definitely beats Coco Cay and Labadee from RCCL. Read Less

I traveled Solo in Solo Cabin. There was a Solo Director who had meetups at Sugarcane Bar 5:30 and arranged Dinners for 6PM. Way too early and hardly anybody showed up except a few elderly passengers. If you are are a young SOLO beware, you won't meet a lot of young people--the Solos are an older crowd. Make your own friends in the clubs. This is my second time traveling Solo. The main entertainment areas of the ship are small--Atrium lounge. O'Sheehans was packed and difficult to get a table. The pool and hot tub areas on Deck 15 was packed. Smokers got to smoke in a fishbowl area near children on this deck. I observed people vaping on all the decks. The casino on Deck 7 was smoky and one had to walk through it to get to the Tropicana Dining Room. I found the Garden Cafe Buffet to be well run with managers patrolling the halls and checking the food presentation and staff activities. I thought the food was good; and also was good in the Savor and Taste Dining Rooms. I only saw the Burn The Floor and Frank Townsend Comedian. Very good. I'm not one for silly ship games and activities so I spent a lot of time relaxing on the 8th floor outside deck where there are cushioned chairs and sofas. You will pay for water on this ship. Made a mistake and ordered 12 large bottles! My 1/2 drunk water bottles purchased on port were thrown out by ship staff as I pass through security to re-enter ship. Really! I had the unlimited drink package and pre paid the drink tips and my 14.50 per day gratuities. Seems wierd you are charged a premium for a necessity of life(water) on a ship. That was my overall impression--they will try to extract every last dollar from you on and off the ship. Every service includes a mandatory 20% gratuity. I had no problems finding a bartender waiter. There's also no outdoor movie screen! Movies shown in the small Atrium area with limited seating. Didn't eat in any upcharge restaurants, buy any pictures, or extra services. Did use the Norwegian bus to and from the port, very good. Driver begging for tips! Everybody begging for tips or buy something during whole cruise. Kinda overwhelming. Long tiresome wait to embark ship (2 1/2 hours). Once you get key there is another wait until your boarding group is called. I disliked the Costa Maya and Cozumel Ports because you were forced to walk through a large shopping areas before exiting port. In Cozumel they even reversed the escalator to make it impossible to bypass shopping--in the rain! I refused to buy anything because of this. Shore excursion--went to Jaime's in Costa Maya (Excellent) and Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel (Very Good). Read Less
