It should be the first cruise and should be a great experience. On closer inspection, the ship was outmoded, worn and not up to date. Data transfer to iphone or laptop a sheer catastrophe. The bed width (we had twinbeds) only 80 cm - with a little swell you threatened to fall out. There should be a butler individually available to each cruise guest (which was mathematically completely impossible) - but that per Butler 15 guests were to look after, shows how rarely one had "his" butler actually available. The entertainment events were rather of moderate quality. Good were the mostly Filipino staff in the cabin cleaning and in the service of the three restaurants. In this overall form you can not advise a trip on the SilverShadow.A clear difference was also noticeable when offered dinner in the inclusive restaurant "the restaurant". We ate there twice and in both cases the food was extremely salted and we let things go back. Good were only the food in the two restaurants, where the drinks were charged separately. Read Less

Just completed an extraordinary trip 8 person family trip with our grown children and their loved ones. Trip was to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday with the family, but the Galapagos and Silversea provided the perfect backdrop. Many of the other reviews have mentioned the magnificence of the islands and the fauna and flora. I'll only add that words can not adequately express what one will experience either in the water or on the land. We have lived and traveled in many countries, but never have we experienced the wonders of snorkeling up close (sometimes inches away)with sea lions, manta rays, sharks, galapagos penguins, sea turtles, and more all within the same ecosystem. Bottom line-the western Galapagos is everything and more than you've read. The ship itself is dated, but certainly very acceptable for a Silversea cruise. In fairness the new Silversea Galapagos ship arrives in 2020. Rooms were very good, but somewhat short on storage space. We loved the location of our room # 345 as it was central to the meeting room, exit to the Zodiaks, dining room. The crew from wait staff to expedition were fabulous. The young chef (Andrea) was amazing in the preparation of her lunch and dinner menus-fish lovers will marvel at what can be prepared. The expedition crew/guides were extremely engaging and knowledgeable, and I'd be surprised if there was a better group of guides in the Galapagos. Finally a note of caution on the activities in general. This is not a sit back and relax cruise. If you are not on a hike (sometimes quite challenging), then you're in the water snorkeling. In other words one is very active during the day, and after dinner did you rarely see anyone on deck after 10pm because people were in bed and exhausted. If mobility is a concern, then I would carefully consider if this is the right trip. This trip will always have a very special memories for my family. Read Less

First cruised onboard theSilver Cloud many, many years ago and we wanted to try another Silver Sea cruise. Silver Muse had the right itinerary and well, she did not disappoint. The entire experience was excellent, the accommodations spacious and understated elegance, the service was outstanding. We had multiple dining options and all were good in their own right. Most of the staff were personable and went out of their way to accommodate our needs- we were a large group, 14 adults and a baby. The entertainment was average, but we really wanted to do a relaxed cruise so we really did not mind that. embark/disembark- at Marina Bay Cruise Center (Singapore), from luggage drop off tot he welcome champagne in the lobby of the ship was 15 minutes at most. cabin- see below dining- we tried each of the restaurants at least twice and all were excellent. The service and attention was great. My favorites were Atlantide and the outdoor grilling were you prepare your own dish on hot rocks. The buffet area for breakfast and lunch was converted into an italian-themed restaurant at night. excursions- Silversea had several excursions that were complimentary, you get to reserve this in advance before the cruise. The more personalized options, you had to pay for. Would highly recommend this cruise. looking forward to the next SS cruise. Read Less

A bucket list type trip for sure! The Galapagos islands were truly mesmerizing. They were remote, unspoiled, filled with animals (many endemic to Galapagos) and the scenery was over the top. We chose Silver Seas as it had great ratings and we wanted a slightly larger ship with very experienced naturalists. While the ship holds about 100 people, I think we only had about 85 on board and it never felt crowded. Silver Seas has this down pat! From the moment you arrive at the airport, it is well organized and orchestrated. You never felt rushed or like you were part of a herd. Each experience was personalized and the staff and crew were very polite, respectful and helpful. Each day, you wake up early and head out for excursions. Most days, there were options to choose from. Each excursion started in a zodiac and you headed out to explore an island, snorkel, kayak or visit a small town. Each zodiac had a guide who lead you through the excursion and ensured each guest got the most out of it. The animals are a highlight of the whole trip. They are not afraid of people and you get a very up close (but not too close) experience with sea lions, birds, iguanas, fish and so much more. The ship itself was very nice. Rooms were spacious (for a cruise ship) and well appointed. Your personal butler ensured you had everything you needed and was quick to respond to any special request. Every time we left the room, they came in and cleaned and straightened it up. The ship wasn't new but well kept up. There was only one restaurant and the Grill on board. We had breakfast at the restaurant buffet each morning and chose to have lunch in the Grill on the deck of floor 5. We alternated between the Grill and main restaurant for dinner. The food was very good in both. I do think they could expand the Grill dinner menu beyond on the hot rocks as it was fun the first night and then got a little old. The restaurant food was all excellent and what I would expect at a fine dining establishment. Our fellow travelers were generally 40-60'ish years old and liked a very active vacation. There is little time to rest during the week. You could choose to skip excursions but then why go on this trip? It was action packed and crazy busy but exactly what we expected. There was only 1 child on our trip and about 10 teenagers who seemed to really enjoy it. Most people were part of bigger (6-12 people) groups which included families, siblings, multi generational, friends, etc. One word of warning which Silver Seas is clear about - this is not a trip for anyone that is mobility challenged. The ship isn't set up for it and the excursions all require you to go up and down steep steps on a rocking ship to the zodiac and often disembark in to the ocean and walk ashore to hike on a rugged trail. There is no entertainment on the ship other than a small piano bar for pre-dinner cocktails while watching the sunset. Most people were in their cabins by 10pm resting up for another big day of excursions. Overall, this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip although we may go back again one day and see the Western part of the archipelago. Also, we chose March as the seas were warmer for snorkeling although the air temperature was very warm too. It is the rainy season, but we didn't see even a drop of rainy and it was sunny each day. Can't recommend this trip on the Silver Galapagos highly enough! Read Less

This is our review of our recent trip from Sydney to Auckland on the Silver Muse. We were fortunate to have booked an Owner’s Suite in the ship and we were expecting to be blown away by the whole experience but, unfortunately, it did not really end up that way. Embarkation and disembarkation Very good and smooth. Food and Restaurants In our opinion, the food was excellent all round and although other reviewers complained of the lack of variety, the menu is changed every 7 days at the evening restaurants, except for “La Dame”. We felt this catered for enough variety as there are various dishes within one menu to guarantee no repetition of the same dish within two visits to that restaurant in a 7-day cycle. We loved the pizza at “Spaccanapoli”, the lamb at “La Dame” and the overall experience at “Indochine”. Perhaps the one restaurant that lagged was “La Terraza” (Italian) in the evening. We felt the food there could be improved. Service on board Outstanding, that is all we can say. Every single member of the crew made us feel welcome and always greeted us with a smile. We would like to point out the outstanding service provided by Shinuda (maître d’) who was always helpful and happy, Gabor at Indochine who went out of his way to make sure that our wishes were met, and Nuria at Indochine who was always happy and cheerful and made our dinners a joy. Butler For some reason our butler was not as good as it could have been. Not much attention to detail and seemed to be stressed most of the time. We have had better experience with butlers before. This was not one to remember. Entertainment and activities onboard We had a guest guitarist, Vincenzo, who gave two shows in the 15-day cruise. Very good. The Silversea singers were very good but on a 15-day cruise, their shows, we found them to be repetitive. Silversea should consider bringing in more guest entertainers on longer cruises. Our cruise director was good. Activities were average. Cabin That was our biggest disappointment. Having the Owner’s suite booked we had high expectations as regards services, overall experience and luxury. The reality is that other then the size of the room (basically 3 varanda suites -one with no balcony - put together into one suite) the overall experience is the same as any other suite in the ship. We expected to receive additional perks to the standard suites for the cost of the Owner’s suite but that was not the case, but the cost of the suite is over x2.5 times that of a standard Varanda suite. The sitting/dining room had two large TV sets opposite one another in a room that was no more that 5 meters in distance between opposing walls. We did not understand the reason for two TV sets in such a small space and it felt as though one of them was an afterthought to justify the suite category. Totally unnecessary. Our experience with the owner’s suite is that it simply is not worth the money and they do not represent value for money. We are not likely to ever book an Owner Suite or any of the other top suites until there is a clear value for money appreciation in the suite. Booking a Varanda suite will get you the same level or service and extras and if you are after more space, then a Silver suite is a more reasonable option. Just as a point in reference, we had an Owner’s suite quoted for a trip to Antarctica in 2021, the cost was quoted in excess of $110K whereas the Varanda for two costs $35K. Bear in mind you are getting exactly the same service on board. Just not worth the money in our opinion. Crew Never saw them. Did we have one?. Ports and excursions The destinations were what sold us the cruise. Outstanding experience, amazing journey. The excursions were good, and we particularly appreciated the Middle Earth (Littleton, NZ) excursion hosted by Hammond Peek, he made our day – excellent person and great host. Passengers We felt that the average of the cruisers was more in the late 60’s – over 70’s range. Perhaps the distance, time of the year and cost keeps away younger people. My wife and I are 55+ and would have preferred a merrier atmosphere and not so formal. The sea days were particularly tedious with almost no entertainment in the swimming pool which gave it an impression of a 5-star hotel with no entertainment. This area needs to be improved. Read Less

After an illness in the family, we needed some "away" time, but not too far away. So we selected a 10-day cruise up the east coast and down the St. Lawrence to Montreal. Our first cruise on SilverSea and we were not disappointed. Our cabin was larger than on many other cruise lines, the food and service were excellent, our butler and attendant were incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful -- Any request received an almost instant response -- we wanted to bring those two home with us! Staff on the ship were amazing in the way they seemed always to remember our name! Cruise Director, Jimmy Kovel was a real card and always entertaining as well as being on top of many many aspects of the cruise. We have sailed with seven companies; and SilverSea is right at the top of the list! One suggestion would be to engage some experts in various fields for informative lectures on board, especially on days with no port of call.. Read Less

First off, what is it about air conditioning? I had the thermostat turned all the way down in my room and the temperature was still just marginally cool. Definitely not comfortable enough for me to get a good nights sleep. And on the last night I found out that the entire ship was on one central system and not really adjustable by room. Even the observation room was not adjustable. So stick a bunch of people in there in the afternoon with all those large windows and it was downright HOT. Your staff finally blocked the doors open to get some airflow thru, to try to cool us down. Service from our butler was great, he was very responsive and took really good care of us. Food was good, service there was pretty good also, but a couple of times we were kind of ignored, as we had to ask for something more than once. Would have liked the main bar to have been open more during the day. Only being able to go to "The Grille" in the day was substandard, as it was pretty hot during those times, as well as humid. Shows were OK, given the stage size and the format. Very talented singers/dancers. We felt that a couple of the excursions were overpriced for the quality of the excursion. The one that was the least impressive was the one on Chios as the guy giving the cruise was marginal in the amount of info he gave us.Very overpriced on that one. Read Less

The itinerary and the suite determined our choice criteria. We were disappointed in the food. While it was incredibly presented. The quality and portion size were very average or just par. The service everywhere was fantastic, as was everything but the food. They would have receptions where the alcohol was plentiful but not serve food or you would see a few trays get passed that were consumed well before they got to you. It seemed stingy and surprising given we have only been on one other luxury cruise and never experienced the food being so guarded and ordinary. The spa staff were incredibly, Had one of the best massages ever. The fitness instructor was average but certainly good enough for a cruise. Entertainment was very good but didn't start until 10 pm which after a full day sightseeing was too late so consequently we only went to 1 show. It was excellent though. Read Less

We wanted to cruise the Baltic in August 2018 and looked for the most luxurious line. To start on a positive note, the suites were beautiful, clean and spacious. TV programming, including movies was excellent. Internet was fair, but only after purchasing the 'premium' version at some $ 150, the type of nickel-and-diming that we did not expect. Shore excursions were good, but very expensive. The cabins of most of our group members were very noisy and shaking, especially when the ship was moving. This is something we never experienced before (and we are seasoned cruise guests). This did impact our sleep negatively.. The handicapped facilities were so-so, no handrails on toilet. Food.. La Terrazza was fine, although the 'free' red wine was disappointing Spaccanapoli.. If we would come across pizza like that, we would walk away. Same for the burgers at the grill. Horrible. Indochine was fine, and so was Seishin ($ 40 per person additional) Also, frequently, restaurants were not able to seat us (we were a party of 12). At Seabourn, this never happened. Changes to menu items were usually not possible, let alone waiting staff remembering what guests liked (like, again, at Seabourn) Our cruise with Silversea was satisfactory, but not the best value for money. We will not return. Read Less

My husband and I wanted to do an Alaskan cruise and had a good experience on Silver Seas in the Adriatic. The ship was ready when we got to port in Vancouver and our check-in and bag arrival to the room were seamless. Our "butler," Ardvin, was a wonderful human being and attentive without being obsequious or intrusive. Each day, the housekeeper, Wendy, had the room spotless and inviting. Meals on Silver Sea were plentiful, but truly the dining in the evening, even if three courses were chosen, was a filling but not overly bloating affair. the appetizers and soups/salads were modest at best, and the main courses always well prepared. We dined at the other two restaurants for dinner one time each, and the experiences there were equally good. We got attached to one waiter, Henry, who was a polished professional that could easily serve at a Michelin restaurant. All the wait staff were very competent, made accommodations as diners needed (a friend made on the ship had been ill one night and needed a customized dinner to take care of her upset stomach, and Henry was seamless in getting her what she needed). Breakfast had a great buffet - eggs cooked to order if you desired, plentiful and healthy choices (smoothies and fruits) as well as indulgences (pain chocolate and pastries). Each day had MANY choices of outings that included helicopter rides to glaciers, nature centers, kayak tours, etc. All levels of fitness and curiosity were met. Even though this cruise line is generally thought to be for older folks, there were several families with children (I guess given the Alaska focus), and everyone seemed content. That made for easy dinner and casual conversation after returning to the ship. There were lectures available about upcoming interests - wild life, glaciers, indigenous peoples, etc., and they were the best lectures I'd heard aboard a cruise. We had two days at sea without port, and while they were rough days, many folks nauseous, there was plenty to do if you so desired. There was a casino on our ship and my husband played in each of the three blackjack tournaments, we had a winning trivia team (WIldcats!), there were line dancing lessons, and plenty of entertainment from a very talented group of performers. Really can't say enough about Kirk, the cruise ship Director. He is man of grace, talent, patience, and ease. I know there is more I will remember once I closeout this survey, but Silver Seas was stellar! Read Less

This was our first cruise and a trip of a lifetime to Alaska. We looked at many cruise lines and we felt that this would be a good value. We were not wrong. Silver Seas is first class. I do wish that port time was longer but we did cover a lot of ground (or sea)... I cannot say enough about the crew and how wonderful they were. Pleasant, professional and just what was promoted by the cruise line. Our cabin was very comfortable. The service for our cabin was wonderful from the cleanliness of our cabin to room service. The only area that I would have changed would be the port calls. If you had a excursion there was very little time to see the actual port or surrounding area. The ports themselves are the same after a while so it would have been nice to have been able to see the areas around the towns. Also, a bit disappointed that we went to Canada for our kayak excursion? thought that was a bit weird. Read Less

The itinerary, dates and length of cruise was the reason we chose Silversea. We also wanted a higher end cruise line, which we understood that Silversea was. The embarkation and disembarkation was the smoothest I've ever experienced. It was well organized, had little/no queues, and plenty of staff to assist. The ship and cabins, in general, are a bit tired and dated and in much need of a refresh. The cruise was also more formal, particularly as it relates to the dress code, than I would have preferred. No shorts after 6PM and jackets required every evening was too stuffy, especially when you are supposed to be on vacation and relaxing. The food was excellent, particularly La Dame, and the service was top notch. We traveled with a large group (celebrating a 35th wedding anniversary) so 3 small children were in tow, all under the age of 4. I would definitely not recommend Silversea if traveling with children. There were 4 high chairs on the entire ship, which meant the majority of the time, there wasn't any high chairs for our children when we were dining. Also, there was no childcare/babysitting services which would have been nice for the family to enjoy a quiet evening or to go on excursions that required more activity. The pool was small and we were afraid our children would make too much noise and disrupt the other guests, so we really didn't use it much. Not much in general for kids to do. Silversea is definitely an older demographic without kids... The ports were excellent and there was enough time to really enjoy them. I particularly liked the fact that a local person from each port was at the Excursion desk on the ship to provide truly local expertise/recommendations. Our butler, Rooben, was fantastic. He was prompt, courteous, eager to please and anticipated our needs. Definitely one of the best butlers I have had. Our housekeeper, Joanna, likewise was fantastic. Overall, the cruise was nice but I would wait to go on recently refurbished ship and definitely without kids. Read Less

Researching cruises for 10 family members, SilverSeas was forward to us by AmEx with a wonderful rep. We started with 3 days in Iceland coming from NYC and LA for a stop over (a good move, hit Messin for dinner), two full days in Copenhagen (Marv and Ben- a excellent restaurant). Getting to the pier by taxi was easy and quick from center of town, on and off the boat was too easy and welcoming. Rooms were amazing large with service (butler and housekeeping), that did everything you didn't think of. The fish was sensational from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The Japanese restaurant, Kaiseki is a good lunch place, reservations needed for dinner. You be pleasantly surprised eating at La Terrazza for a touch of Italy with a bottle of Pipoli Aglianico Del Vulture (another find). The Sorrento style pizzas on the pool deck was addicting, especially with the wine service (Chenin Blanc from South Africa was a wonderful learn). For us, Kayaking in Geiranger fjord was an experience that one wanted to last longer and if you can, a must do.. The services & crew were all caring, always putting the vacation experience first, something hard to find. We are thinking about SilverSeas again! Read Less

My 22 year old daughter was with me, and if she did not want the food from one particular restaurant, they were only too willing to get what she wanted from another restaurant on board! All the drinks you can possibly want at any time of the day very good quality liquor. The staff was always checking to see if you were hydrated, or would like a drink! The excursions are absolutely wonderful - but you will have to take some time to figure out which one you want to do. There are many to choose from - but every one we did was educational, well planned, thrilling, historical, artistic and DOABLE... whether or not physical agility was required. At times, you feel as though you're seeing the same stuff...."You've seen one booby...you've seen them all"! However, overall the educational experience as well as seeing animals SO CLOSE in the nature is simply amazing! Like the animals are not even afraid of humans - Definitely like you're visiting THEIR home. Although rather expensive, SilverSea does an excellent job for the value. We chose Silversea because of its stellar reputation and attention to every detail. My family spent 2 days in Vancouver before the cruise. What a beautiful city! Don't miss visiting Suspension Bridge Park- definitely a must see. The ease and organization that was displayed by the luggage handlers for Silversea as we arrived at the dock confirmed what we had read about this cruise line--attention to detail everywhere. We felt like royalty from the moment we walked on the ship and were greeted with a glass of champagne and smiling faces from our crew. Our Medallion suite was much larger than I thought it would be. Our 3 children were each in a Veranda suite and they also remarked on the spaciousness of their rooms. The service was top-notch. Every crew member went out of their way to make sure my family was comfortable and had everything we needed. After returning from a fishing trip on a chilly day in Sitka, hot baths were waiting for us. How did the butlers know that they were just we wanted?! Our 3 children and their significant others (all in their 20's and 30's) were on the dance floor every night dancing to the music played by DJ Rob. Our cruise director Kirk seemed to have boundless energy- seriously, how was he was able to lead so many activities each day? Someone needs to bottle his energy! I enjoyed each of the restaurants, and the portion size was perfect. We enjoyed "dressing up" for dinner in The Restaurant and also dining informally under the stars on the pool deck. And of course, nothing beats a room service breakfast. We loved each of the ports we stopped in, but if we had to pick one excursion over the others it would be the heli tour/glacier walk in Skagway. Unforgettable. Visiting the Iditarod summer camp in Juneau was a close second. Although we were sad to see the cruise end, we have fabulous memories to keep us company until we sail on another Silversea ship. Read Less

We usually travel on Crystal Cruise Lines our friend told us that Silverseas was as good or better boy was she wrong. Lets start with the positives. The rooms were very spacious, the beds were comfortable, the closets very big and the bathroom was oversized but it stops there. The staff were mostly rude! I can not count how many times they told us to go to our room and order room service. When we ask if there was a movie playing they told us to go to our room and watch a movie. The wait staff were not well trained. The would give 4 out of 6 people water and we would have to call them back and ask them to poor the others water. They would forget to take an order (there were only 6 people at the table) and once they took the order they would forget to bring the order. They would constantly roll their eyes if you ask them for something that would require them to go someplace else to get it. They would say well that is on the 4th floor and it will take 30 minutes to get it. Maybe you should go to the 4th floor. We had a group of 18 and when we ate at the grill and ask them to put the tables together so we could have a least one family dinner together they refused. No matter what you ask it was an inconvenience. When you would ask a question at the front desk they never knew the answer. For example...what time does the ship leave tonight. I consider that a simple question and all staff members should be able to answer it. One day they played bingo and we were told they could only play one game because they had to play trivia right after. 75% of the people came to play bingo and that 75% left when they started the trivia. One night they did Kareokee my husband sang 2 songs and another guy did one song then the cruise director Vicki called all the women up to sing a song then called all the men up to sing a song. It turned into a big joke and again 75% of the room left! The women working on the ship acted like they were hired to entertain themselves. They were also very flirty with the men and no spouse wants to deal with that. I have never spent so much time in my room on any cruise. This ship was a joke! The food was the worse food I have ever had on a cruise ship. If the food would have been excellent you could have been forgiving of somethings. There was a lack of entertainment and when there was something fun the cruise director limited it and started something new. Maybe your target audience in the past was 80 plus but from what I could see the majority of the people on the ship were mid 50's early 60's. I know if I was offered a free cruise on this cruise lines I would not go! Do not ask me to act like I am at the Ritz Carlton when I am clearly at the Motel 6. The food at Ihop is better then the food on this ship. We ate at least one meal every day off the ship just so we could have a decent meal. The ports were excellent but I would reconsider booking on the SilverSea. Read Less

We started this trip in Guayaquil where a Silversea representative waited for us at the airport and took us to Oro Verde Hotel (very good, very close to the city main attraction (malecon)) a day before the embarkation. From Guayaquil we flew with Latam to San Cristobal (1h and 25min). As a lot of flights arrived at same time, immigration took almost one hour. From airport was a 5 minutes bus ride to the pier where we got the zodiac to the ship with our carry-on. Soon after our luggage arrived at our cabin which was a veranda suite. We loved that we got it as we spend a lot of time in the Veranda while sailing from one spot to other as well as we could dry our clothes and shoes easily. There are plenty of open air space in the ship that you can rest between meals and landings. There are also in-door space like piano bar and library should you want to be in the air conditioning. July is the dry season and temperature was really good. Food was great at all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). We had breakfast every day at the Restaurant as well as dinner except for one evening that we tried the Grill where we had all our lunches. Lunch was superb at the Grill, but dinner at the lava rock was a disappointing, we never got back. Some disappointing issues: shower has half door which makes bathroom wet everywhere. Bathroom is really small. Disembarkation was not very good. In the night before some items from our cabin were changed to the new guest to come in the following day, which confused us. On Saturday morning we had to leave our cabin at 7:30, but transfer to the airport was at 9:30, so we stayed at the piano bar for 2 hours waiting. Silversea provided exhibition of some films during this period, but in the end, the toilets were miserable with a 100 guests using it during 2 hours. We were transferred to the airport and our flight was schedule for about 1 PM. A long waiting time. I noticed that guests from Celebrity had a meal waiting for them at the airport. Great trip! We loved it and strongly recommend it! Read Less

We spent a few days in Quito before the cruise. Quito was a great city. Lots to explore and see and eat! There was a bit of an issue with embarkation, but that didn't matter because that was the first chance we got to see the tortoise! That was an incredible experience; being able to see those giant animals. Once we got on the ship the staff was super friendly. The food on the ship was outstanding. There were a lot of Ecuadorian dishes such as the local fish which tasted great! The chefs created wonderful dishes for every single meal of the day. The room was nice. It was nice that the tv had so many movie selections. The shower was alright, it had half a door, so the floor got pretty wet sometimes. I liked how it had a separate shower head; makes it easier to wash long hair. There could have been another mirror in the room. When the bathroom was being occupied there was no other mirror in the room to get ready. Lots of good closet space. The service was absolutely outstanding. Whatever you needed, no matter what time of day, someone was always available to help. We had gotten room service one morning and had it brought up to the piano bar. The waiters were outstanding. Whenever I would request a specialty drink, they would make it and it tasted delicious! The activities that were planned were great. I really liked how it was an early start to the day and then you had time to relax in the afternoon and then another activity in the late afternoon. I thought the planning for that was great. It was nice to have options, hard/long walk or easy/short walk and snorkeling off the beach/deep sea snorkeling. I traveled with my parents and they agreed that it was one of the best trips we ever took together. We are currently planning our next Silver Seas cruise! This was everyone's first expedition cruise and we really enjoyed it. There's no other way to see the islands, and we enjoyed every excursion! The disembarkation was good, we were told to be out of our rooms at 7am, but didn't really leave the ship until 7:45. At one night the ship was really rocky, but I guess that's expected when you sail across the ocean. Read Less

Grand daughter wanted to go to alaska. It was a last minute decision and this fit our schedule. Could not get the type of room we wanted, but the veranda room was ok. Checking in was not handled very well and room did not have a roll-away bed as we were told it would have. The butler and waiters were excellent. Staff at the reception desk were poor. Not very friendly and twice gave me the wrong information, once on the on board credits i had and then on disembarkation transportation. Neither issued has been resolved to my satisfaction. We have been on 21 cruises, mostly on seaborne, twice on around the world cruises. I would rate our experience on silversea shadow as not nearly as good as seaborne. Also was not able to book a reservation at la terraza during the whole trip. Started trying to make reservation right after we made the trip reservation. Again reception desk said they would try to find a way to get us in, but never heard back from them. Food and service were excellent, but the reception staff personal were terrible. Shore excursions were great. Read Less

Save your money & do not book a Silversea Whisper cruise! My family and I just disembarked from a 9 day Greek Islands cruise (Athens to Venice) and it had to be the worst luxury cruise we have ever taken (previously on Crystal & Oceania). To summarize: 1. Food - Not at luxury quality not service. Silverseas must be saving it’s $$$ portion sizes were tiny and we were often hungry after a meal. Service slow (lunch on pool deck often 1-1 1/2 hours). 2. Ship - ship is 17 years old and needs to be scrapped. Paint chipped, old carpets, etc. Felt like I was on a cruise in the last century. Silversea should be ashamed for charging what they charged us and put us on a ship like this. 3. Excursions- the cruise business of continuing to rip off its passengers continues. We were charged $180 to sit on a bus for 40 minutes then dumped on a remote beach for 2 hours. One highlight was the Sea Safari on. RIB boat in Split, Croatia but even then on a 6 hour trip we were only provided a “snack” of tuna fish salad and anchovies. 4. Staff - Our Butler was always in a rush and nervous. Compared to our Oberoi-trained butler on Oceania Rivierawas a stark contrast. Reception staff inexperienced often could not answer questions. Wait staff slow and forgetful. Maitre d in one restaurant yelled at a staff member and a passenger. 5. Entertainment - awful. 6. Fitness Center - Pilates classes were NOT Pilates (I know I’m an instructor). Save your money, do your research and don’t book on Silversea. Read Less

We have been on more than 15 cruises and fur this one we chose Silversea as we heard how nice it was and wanted a smaller ship. From start to finish including embarkation and disembatcation were flawless. The cabins were luxurious and the butler service was outstanding. All excursions met or exceeded expectations and the food and open dining experience was nice. You do have to make reservations for restaurants early as the do fill up but no matter where you ate the gods was great and service was above and beyond. Everyone had a smile and would customize as necessary. Took 6 Adults and they all were in awe of how nice it was. Highly recommend. Entrertainment was very good but don't expect the big production as on large ships. We made aloe of new friends as the small shop experience made it easy to meet people. Will definitely cruise Silversea again. Read Less

*Warning Do not book Silver Suite Cabin 932*. This suite is located directly under the only pool bar and the bar storage and dish washing operations. They start up at 8 am and end at 11:30 PM and you hear clanking banging, door slamming, things that are dropped and basically every noise from a very busy bar and back bar reverberate through suite 932. This is the only suite on the ship that is effected by a very busy operation directly above your suite and you will be very unhappy if you book this suite. We complained within one hour of moving in about the constant noise in our expensive suite and after a few days the cruise line gave us a $3,000 credit if we booked a new cruise. Appreciate the offer from them but Silversea really needs to disclose this suite defect to all future people who will be unfortunately booked into this suite. Its not cool to charge an expensive suite rate and then get the worst cabin on the ship. After a few days on board Silversea admitted this cabin was a real problem with noise. Two hours after moving into the suite I went online and Googled Silver Muse suite 932 and to my horror I saw the previous review by some passenger who had the same experience that we did. Note to self, always Google search the cabin you are assigned to. We could have avoided this unpleasant situation if we did. Having said all the bad things about cabin 932, I must say that everything else on the cruise was excellent. The ship is new, the food is amazing and the staff was all very nice. These things helped but it did not overcome the fact that my wife and I would leave our suite before we wanted to and were hesitant to come back to our suite until after 11:30 PM and when you were in the room it was very aggravating. Very unfortunate and frustrating experience when you book an expensive suite and are on a nice Med cruise with your family. The purpose of my review is to hopefully get the word out that the Silver Muse is a great ship but NEVER EVER book suite 932..... Read Less

We flew from Cleveland to Oslo, Norway where we met up with most of the other passengers. Hotel was booked downtown to let us enjoy a bit of Oslo before catching an early charter flight the next morning to Longyearbyen where we would meet the Silver Cloud. We love Level 6 on the Cloud because it is close to the Expedition Desk, the reception desk and on the same level as the auditorium where presentations and briefings are held. The Cloud originally held about 300 passengers but now takes about 200 as it was retrofitted for Expeditions which require zodiacs and kayaks. Our cabin was roomy and had a large screen TV. Unfortunately, the satellite signal in the arctic wasn't strong so often you couldn't get live TV. You could still watch movies. Everything is included on Silversea. We ate in four different restaurants and also had room service. Alcohol is free whether it be hard liquor, wine or beer.Top shelf brands. The expeditions were well planned and offered a variety of options. Most involved zodiacs with both wet and dry landings. Silversea provided personal parka, backpacks and water bottles which you take home with you at the end of the cruise. Butler and maid service are outstanding. They are always there but not under your feet.Food is high quality with choices at every meal. You can always ask for something special and if they can make it you will get it.Our Expedition Team was outstanding. Very knowledgeable, informative and approachable. You are urged to invite them to dinner. Captain Taillard was refreshing. He is outgoing and personable. He worked hard to find ice and bear for us. We ended up having g dinner with him the night that the Silver Cloud went the farthest North that any Silversea ship has gone. We have already booked our next Silversea Cruise. In all we have sailed on four of their ships. All have had high quality of service and staff. Read Less

My husband and I traveled with my 85 year old mother and this cruise gave us memories we will never forget. The ports we visited were fantastic. The food and dining experience on board was spectacular. We loved all the restaurants but probably our favorite is Atlantide. The quality and variety on their menu is wonderful. We ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were magnificent. We loved the bar there and Marilyn, the bartender, is a beautiful lady and the best bartender ever! We loved her Margaritas and Lemon Drop Martinis. Our waiters - Mahdi Abid, Kim, Eugene and Ayhan- truly made If unforgettable. We forged true bonds with them all. But again, all the restaurants are fantastic. We love Mario, John, and Issac there. They all took such great care of us. But the best part of the cruise is the staff. We met so many people that we will never forget. They are so kind and hard working and always have big smiles on their faces. This was the absolute best part of our amazing vacation. Read Less
