Just returned from an absolutely wonderful 11 night cruise on the Spirit. We had not sailed Siversea in 10 years and will definitely be returning. Our past experience with this line had not been very positive and we switched to Seabourn but decided to try again based on the itinerary and timing near our anniversary. We embarked in Barcelona, it was qiuick and efficient but not as wrm as Seabourn. Our first impression of the ship was “dated”- perhaps it was the color scheme but the furniture style reminded me of an assisted living facility. We then reviewed the buffet in La Terrazza but opted to have lunch in the Atlantide restaurant where we enjoyed a tasty Mahi and drank a french chardonnay. The room was less frenetic than La Terrazza and the service excellent. We finished lunch and went to our Deluxe veranda suite on the 8th floor and found our luggage had been delivered-always good to get the unpacking squared away. Once again we had the impression that the suite had a bit of a dated feel to it but the space was similar to the Seabourn line and felt familiar. The shower was larger and the tub deeper but there was only a single sink.the ame/nities were very similar and we were very happy to have a jewelry box in the safe for our items. Our butler showed up shortly after and took care of several requests including a mattress topper for the bed which was on the firm side. After unpacking and attending the muster drill we showered, dressed for dinner and went to the Panorama lounge for a predinner cocktail. The ambience is different than the Observation bar on Seabourn and both have positives. We always enjoyed a seat at the beautiful bar on Seabourn where we could enjoy the bartender’s company as well as conversation with other passengers. The bar area on Silversea is small and not a focal point of the room so we chose to sit in the comfy chairs. The Silversea lounge was just that- very comfortable chairs and a very nice dance floor. I loved having a cocktail list on the Spirit and the drinks were well crafted and presented. Our reservation the first evening was in La Dame because we could only waitlist this venue for the rest of the cruise when we tried to book our reservations back in Feb. The dinner was just perfect- excellent food with delicious options and very attentive service - the only negative was that many of the tables were set so closely together that we felt as if we were joining others rather than dining as a twosome. The other restaurants on the ship were similar with many of the tables for two placed very closely together which could be positive or negative depending upon one’s table-mates. A couple next to us was forced to engage in political banter with two people on their other side told us after the other couple departed that they did not enjoy the discussion. All of the dining rooms seem to fill up each evening and everyone seemed to make an effort to dress nicely which added a touch of elegance. On Seabourn there were fewer jackets and almost no ties. We dined in La Terrazza most mornings and the selections for breakfast were quite varied and the food delivered hot and very quickly which we appreciated when we had an early excursion. We also enjoyed room service a few mornings and one evening when we were too tired too move! and our butler brought the tray-the presentation was lovely, the orders correct, and the food hot. The food in Seishin and Indoshine were nice options and we enjoyed the ambience of each restaurant. The only dinner we did not enjoy was in La Terrazza- service was on point but the food just wasn’t appealing- we only tried it once. The Arts cafe was another plus-it offered all day snacking items and we loved the option of bringing some things to the room-particularly as it was right down the hall. Our suite was very accessible to the elevators, the lauderette (which I used once,) the Arts Cafe and the pool. The only negative was the sound of furniture scraping across the deck above us- not a gigantic nuisance but I would probably go for deck 7 instead of 8. The ship’s excursions were very interesting and not overly crowded- there was always space on the bus to move around. Overall I would say that Silversea had better food and service and we really enjoyed having the services of a butler. Seabourn has prettier and more up to date venues and better entertainment. We liked the glamour of dressing for dinner on Silversea but did not like the surcharges for some of the restaurants. The welcome on Seabourn is more vibrant while Silversea is more subdued. Many of the guests on Silversea have sailed numerous times with the line and we are pleased to say that we shall be repeatIng with another cruise in the future. Read Less

The ship is in excellent condition. The cabins are very nice and very clean and the bed was comfortable. The food was excellent and high quality. Filippo Bulgarini the Maître D is very good at insuring everything is perfect. All staff members have a excellent attitude and really care about insuring you have all your needs and wants met. Lots of area's on the ship to relax and enjoy the beautiful views. The on board credit was very easy to use and the store on the ship had a great selection of watches and clothing. We have travelled on many cruises. This was our first cruise with Silversea and we will return very soon because the overall experience was better than advertised. The ports of call were excellent and the extended stay in some of the ports was great because you did not feel rushed. The ship arrived on time to the ports of call everyday. Read Less

Beautiful ship with large cabins and plenty of public spaces to get away. Lots of restaurants, but food choices were somewhat limited. Like most cruises, there were minor issues along the way, but we really enjoyed this cruise. Embarkation seemed a bit disjointed with multiple stops. Staggered times based on suite category meant no big lines and cabins immediately ready. Our boarding opened at 2:00 pm. Don’t get too comfortable unpacking and miss lunch as the hours are limited. Welcome champagne glass and a full bottle waiting for you in the suite. We toured and photographed the ship after lunch. Disembarkation went as scheduled with full room service breakfast available (a rarity on most lines). Out of the cabin by 8:30 am, we waited until 9:15 for our group to be called right on time. Uber for two to FLL was less than $12 + tip. Why would anybody spend more for a bus transfer? Ship. So much room throughout the ship that we often asked ourselves, “Where is everybody?” Like many newer ships, this ship has the plethora of quiet places to “hide out.” Lots of elevators and stairs made it a snap to get around. Service and Amenities. Mostly what I would expect for a luxury cruise line. All-inclusive alcohol and wine flowed freely. Water, iced tea, and juice at the gangway with cold washcloths back on the ship. Friendly staff always greeted guests in passing, but don’t expect them to remember your name like they do on much smaller ships. Bulgari toiletries. All the toys in the cabin except binoculars. (I bring my own anyway.) No fresh flowers or fruit in our cabin. Clientele. Most people we met were very experienced cruisers. Some were avid Silversea clients, but quite a few were on their first Silversea cruise. A fair number of Brits. The clientele age was more varied than we expected. We quickly made friends with a lot of interesting people and enjoyed their company throughout the cruise. This is not a ship for kids, although the one 5-year old girl onboard got a lot of attention. Entertainment. Six singers and dancers did all the shows, including their solo acts. Other musicians also onboard for piano music, etc. Enrichment activities. Ira Feldman was our destination lecturer. He was very informative and approachable. We didn’t spend time doing most of the other cruise trivia, bingo, bridge, etc. We like doing puzzles and this ship could use a better location than the card room for that purpose. Restaurants. Very different arrangement than many other cruise lines and we were quite confused when trying to make pre-cruise online reservations. I’ll try to provide the information I wish I had before boarding. There is a cluster of four restaurants on Deck 4. Atlantide is the closest thing to a main dining room and doesn’t require reservations unless you have special requests. Menu only changed slightly once during the cruise. Indochine is similar with an Asian menu, but we never went there. Seishin (Asian) and LeDame (French) are the small, premium restaurants that are pricey and small. Hot Rocks (aka The Grill) is outside on Deck 9 by the pool. For lunch they serve burgers, but for dinner you cook your own food on a hot stone. Just upstairs overlooking the pool is the pizza restaurant Spaccanapoli. It’s not really a dinner restaurant, per se, but it does have a dinner menu if you want pizza. La Terrazza is the buffet converted to a sit-down Italian restaurant in the evening with both indoor and outdoor seating. Surprisingly, it had some of the best food on the ship, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Finally, Silver Note is a nice restaurant on Deck 8 that transitions into a piano bar with dancing at night. Menus vary by restaurant, not by day, so the idea is to try the different venues if you want variety. Finally, Arts Café is a gem of a place to get snacks next to Silver Note. That is where they serve afternoon tea with scones, cake, sandwiches, etc.. Unfortunately, the amazing cakes are replaced with only chocolate after dinner. It’s a good place to get an after dinner drink. The biggest critique I have is that afternoon post-shore excursion food was limited. Waiting an hour to get a burger from The Grill or room service just doesn’t cut it when you have been walking all morning and you are starving hungry! The simple fix would be to provide more substantial food (e.g. sandwiches, sushi, fruit, cookies, etc.) at the Arts Café during the entire lull period between lunch venues closing and dinner venues opening. Food Quality and Service. We were disappointed in the quality, variety, and availability. Although we had a few excellent meals, most were just average, which was disappointing for a luxury cruise line. Appetizers were typically the best part of the meal. Our lobster tails were overcooked. Steaks were not very tender and often undercooked. Lots of good fish choices, so we ate a lot of fish. Service was too often painfully slow, sometimes taking 2 ½ hours for a three course meal. What is it about some ships and the timing of the coffee? I like to drink my coffee with dessert, but the coffee usually came 15 minutes after dessert was served and long gone. Our last dinner onboard at La Terrazza was the best food and service of the cruise. Dress code. Two formal nights and five other nights requiring jackets for men. I would prefer more nights of “country club casual” or a dress code based on restaurant venue. Wearing formal clothes or even a jacket to an outdoor pizza restaurant didn’t make sense. Internet. Finally! Free, unlimited internet. Still ship-slow and sometimes difficult to get a good connection, but at least you are not being billed for every minute. Upgrades to higher speeds and more devices were available. Self Service Laundry. With machines on every floor, we were actually able to find open machines on a sea day, which made quick work of the laundry we needed washed. Free with a confusing soap dispenser. Machine instructions were practically non-existent and also perplexing. It didn’t help that the machine labels were German and the water temperatures were degrees Celsius. Cruise lines could really help out their guests by providing no-nonsense guides in English with recommendations about which of the 14 cycles (from 20 min to 3 hours) works best for most clothes. Spa & Fitness Center. Lots of treatment rooms. We enjoyed the Thermal Suite, which was an extra package price and limited access. Silversea could take a tip from Oceania and provide free Gatorade. Smoking. This was one of our main reasons for not sailing Silversea earlier. It is now reasonably restricted and the occasional whiffs of smoke from a designated smoking area did not bother us much. Ports. Santiago de Cuba, Grand Cayman, Cienfuegos, Havana, Bimini. Most people were on this cruise to see Cuba. Almost everybody went ashore to get a chance to see it firsthand. We invested heavily in shore excursions primarily because we didn’t know what to expect in terms of access and meeting the U.S. requirements to visit Cuba. All the Cuban tours were operated by Havanatur and transportation was provided on relatively new Chinese buses with toilets (an amenity you will appreciate in Cuba where every bathroom has an attendant with their hand out for a tip). Our shore excursion guides were all high quality. Everything was on time and the three sea days were a welcome respite from touring. An unexpected extension to our time in Havana allowed last-minute shore excursions to the nightclubs and shows. Friends we met through Cruise Critic were able to book their own independent tours, but we did not have the time to do all the advanced research and booking. Tenders. This was the first Silver Spirit itinerary to Cuba so there were many learning opportunities. Particularly problematic was the tendering service. Some of the tender rides were 35-45 minutes, but this was not entirely Silversea’s fault. Even this relatively small ship was not allowed to get close enough in some of the ports to have reasonable tendering times. This caused several of us to miss evening plans in Santiago because we could not get back to the ship in time to go back for the evening shows. Havana was the only port where we used a dock, which was a real luxury after all the tendering. The one big misstep was in Bimini, where bad management of tender rotations caused an hour wait that made several of us miss our afternoon shore excursion. The ship staff accepted full responsibility and refunded our ticket prices, but it was disappointing. In summary. We’ve never taken a perfect cruise, but expectations can be high for luxury cruise lines like Silversea. However, after 18 cruises on a variety of lines, this cruise makes our top 3, with Regent and Azamara. We loved the location and size of our cabin. Now that we understand the system, we will make better dining choices next cruise. Cuba is a must see and we will be back in the future to see the progress. Overall, we really enjoyed this cruise and will be back Read Less

The 5 stars are for the cruise only. The pre and post cruise services are definitely the weak link. We had booked transfers through Silversea. No one was waiting at the airport as we had been told. We dragged our luggage all over the airport on a wild goose chase until we found the transfer company. The pre-cruise night at the Intercontinental was a nightmare. Check in was very difficult, the fire and evacuation at midnight was handled terribly by the hotel, having our luggage picked up from our room by the transfer service in the morning was a 3 hour process. The Silversea hotel representatives were no help at all. Once we got to the port, everything changed. Embarkation was quick and easy. Our veranda cabin was perfect. Our cabin was in the “stretched” section with a nice big shower only. We loved everything about our cabin. Our butler Raphal and room attendant Larry took great wonderful care of us. Raphal even made sure we always had distilled water for my husbands cpap. Since they knew I liked champagne, they always had a chilled bottle ready for us. We tried all of the restaurants and enjoyed the food, wine, and especially the excellent service. La Dame was a very memorable meal for us! The destination speaker Corey Sandler was so informative and his tips added a lot of enjoyment to each of our stops. We enjoyed Quebec City, Bar Harbor, Boston, and Newport the most. The cruise down the Saguenay River was stunningly beautiful. It would have been nice to skip the smaller ports and have overnights in some of the nicer ports. The weather was awful due to the hurricane remnants and it was so nice to come back to our warm cozy cabin after being in port all day. We were very late arriving in New York City. Again, once off the ship, the transfer services were a mess. They took a long, out of the way route to the airport and they didn’t know which terminals were where. Many people missed their flights. We ended up getting off at one terminal and walking well over a mile to the correct terminal. If we cruise with Silversea again, we will book our own flights and hotel. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have always wanted to travel and explore Norway and Denmark. This is the first cruise we have been on and wanted it to be a good experience. We chose Silversea due to their reputation and recommendations from friends whom have traveled with Silversea. The price was high compared to other cruise lines but in the end it was worth every cent. The staff was amazing and very friendly, the food was incredible. My Wife is Gluten Free and as we informed them of this up front they were very responsive and well prepared for her dietary needs. Norway was amazing and the shore excursions were well worth it. The ship rout was such that we zigged and zagged in and around the majestic islands and fjords able to see amazing scenery. The offshore weather was a bit rough and I was amazed at hos stable the ship was, so I was told due to the stabilizers that were being used. I would do it again for sure, but would choose a different cruise so to see new sights. Read Less

we have cruised with Silversea 6 times. This cruise to the Baltics was outstanding. Stockholm, Helsinki,St Petersburg, Talinn Estonia were fabulous but Mariehamn was weak but allowed us to rest. The newly reconstructed Silver Spirit was beautiful & excellent, food was excellent & better than ever but no change of menu all week in Atlantide and Indochine so we just chose different entrees for variety. La Terraza was spectacular. We had issues with the Silversea booked air; American Airlines cancelled our flight so we traveled the next day and missed our prepaid hotel in Stockholm. After speaking with Silversea, they stepped up to the plate and assisted us for our loss.We have booked 4 additional Silversea cruises and can't wait to rejoin the ship.Service was outstanding. A perfect cruise once we got to the ship. The ship is a great size with under 600 guests. Nice chocolate desert buffet at the pool on the last evening with a great DJ. The chocolate was to die for. We do not care for the entertainment but I live in Las Vegas so I am spoiled with the world's best; I do not cruise for the weak shows. Great singers but boring shows--opera, tenors, corny productions, 1940-1950's is not my thing. Give me classic rock. They need to get into current times with the shows. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I wanted to cruise the Baltic Sea and my husband doesn't like big ships. I hadn't been on silversea before but I liked the itinerary and the cruising dates. My sister and her husband joined us. They thought the pricing was rather high and they didn't want to dress for dinner. However I convinced them it would be worth the cost and effort. After booking I was second guessing my decision because I found the SilverSea travel agent really shockingly terrible. He didn't return my phone calls or emails. I only spoke to him when I was lucky enough to reach him directly by phone. I was absolutely appalled. He never returned my sister's emails or phone calls either. Also I read some bad reviews on the chat line. Happily the cruise was fabulous in almost every way. The service was superb! Our suite was large, clean, functional and beautiful. We loved every restaurant and lounge. The decks were fantastic and the entertainment was outstanding. We had a great time in every port. The only area that didn't measure up were the SilverSea excursions. They could definitely have been much better. For example, not one of them had headsets and the groups were too large not to have them. That wasn't the only problem but I'm going into details on that. Luckily, we booked Alla Tours in St Petersburg which was excellent. Read Less

WE have sailed Silversea before. We sailed the Fjords of Norway and it was a very relaxing cruise. Love the update to the Spirit. We have sailed the Muse twice and like that the Spirit now has Atlantide (seafood and steaks), Silver Note (jazz supper club), and Indochine. The food is always innovative and of high quality. We were very happy with all the service with the exception of wait too long outside for someone to take our pizza order. Also on another occasion in the Arts Cafe service was off. The other meals and venues lived up to the Silversea brand we are use to. The entertainment is only 6 singers but this group was the best so far that we have seen and it is amazing the shows they can put on with only 6. We don't need a big production when on vacation, just lovely entertainment at the end of an evening. Getting off and on the ship at ports was seamless; which is another reason we love this size of ship. We took a couple tours which were excellent and we also just walked out into the ports at some stops. Service , Service, Service. We booked another cruise while on board. Read Less

Chose Silversea as it is the very best for service which is genuine and authentic. Chose Norway for the geography and to get a small taste of the culture. The fact that the cruise was enjoyable despite 13/15 days of rain speaks to the beauty of the wild and mystical coastline as well as to the excellent service/care of the Silversea staff. The increased number of small speciality restaurants was a treat [ the jazz supper club especially] although I did miss being able to order from the daily dining room menu for in suite dining. Something that must be addressed is the inclusion of the former High Tea service [ a consistently popular offering despite age of passengers] in the new coffee shop , Arts Cafe. There is not nearly enough space to serve all passengers wishing to attend and many left disappointed. There are several other excellent venues on board where the tea service could be offered [ it is only 1 hour per day!] with space and reasonable table size. I would also advise reassessing the offerings which ranged from turquoise to vivid green to hot pink iced cakes. Otherwise, up to Silversea standards with lovely fresh but restful decor Read Less

We (just the two of us) love the size of this ship and that all the cabins are a comfortable size, though we did have a larger cabin on this particular cruise. The service was impeccable as usual and food was very good (and that is saying a lot since I am a very picky eater). We always arrive a few days before our cruise since we know things can go astray (cancelled flights, delayed flights, etc) plus we enjoy resting up and exploring our departure city. We both love the all-inclusiveness of SilverSeas. There was plenty of good entertainment thru out our Cruise. Our room had so much storage space and the closet was very large for a ship. (Drawers and cabinets galore) The balcony was a nice size with a small table for eating, an adjustable lounge chair and a standard cushioned chair. The only negative was the limited movies as I do enjoy watching movies late at night. I'm glad to see this ship going into dry dock for refurbishments--It will be a great Enhancement. Read Less

Having just returned from a 12 day cruise on the Silver Spirit sailing from the Seychelles to Mumbai I have to report a faultless experience. From the moment we stepped on board, from the “nothing is too much trouble” from the team, from the most accommodating and genuinely nice butler Vipin and the best housekeeper Jacqui we were pampered and treated as real VIP’s. We were on deck 8 The Spa team are a delight ( go for the Thermal suite package ) if you can giving only 20 guests access to a lovely oasis of steam rooms, sauna, thermal beds, jacuzzi and private sun bathing area. The gym is well equipped although the individual treatments are expensive. The food was superb at every restaurant and Damian the restaurant manager runs a superb food and beverage operation. Our cruise was all inclusive, pre dinner cocktails in the bar in deck 5 became the 7.30pm norm ( try the Bermuda sidecars ) then to dinner in a choice of gastro delight restaurants. I advise to book a few ahead on the my Silverseas web portal you will get when you book - we opted for 2 nights in the Grill on deck 10 - steak on the stone style - 2 nights in Stars a tapas style 7 course taster menu with live singer - 1 night in the Sushi restaurant ( although we did do lunch in there a couple of times ), once in La Terraza on deck 7 and the remainder in the main restaurant on deck 4. Every meal was superb ( make sure you sign up for a galley tour with the head chef one day ). There’s as much or as little as you fancy on the entertainment side from bridge, indoor putting, afternoon quizzes, table tennis tournaments, yoga, Pilates etc - it’s there if you want it. A well stocked library and internet room ( you get 1 hour free Wi-fi a day ) even a connoisseur cigar and brandy bar plus a casino and shops. The daily chronicle let’s you know what’s on and where each day and the dress code for dinner - we had 2 formal nights with black tie, 4 informal nights with jackets and 6 casual nights trousers and shirt or polo shirt - no shorts after 6pm in public areas. There is a nightly show at 10 for an hour to an hour and a half and then your choice of disco with DJ Bart on deck 9 in the panorama lounge or jazz and swing in Stars on deck 7 until the early hours. Trips ashore are extra but are well organised again pre book once you get your log in details to your own mysilverseas account. Will we be back with Silverseas - you bet - we’re already looking for next year - we loved it - it was a total chill out for us - we are mid 50’s and still working so it was an absolute treat to just relax and be so well looked after - some retired guests found the days at Seas a little boring but a good book, a comfy sunbed and a team of friendly staff made our days at sea our favourite days. A brilliant time - thank you to all the team in Silverseas Silver Spirit Read Less

Cabins are larger than most... dining experience at lunch is excellent... dinner choices are less appealing. Excellent entertainment. Overall service is outstanding. The ports on this itinerary were very disappointing...but sea days were excellent. Fitness center is very small and poorly laid out... equipment faces the wall...and the TV's and audio were not working. Not really a family cruise...mostly senior adults.. romantic atmosphere. Venetian Society has a couple advantages, discounts, cocktail reception... but given the fact liquor is included for the cruise ...cocktail reception isn't really a perk. As with other cruise lines, if you book another cruise while on board, there's an additional discount... which we wanted to take advantage of but we waited until the last day and the consultant on board was busy with other guests so we missed the opportunity for a 10% discount. We boarded the Silver Spirit in Dubai and sailed over to the Seychelles - lovely itinerary with some nice sea days as well. Getting onboard the ship was easy and very fast and just no Q's at all. The ship looked lovely and the staff were amazing. We ate in most restuarants my favourite been the main dining room and Hot rocks which is up on the pool deck - gorgeous when you are in port to dine up here. The suite was gorgeous lots of space and very nice furnished with a great dressing room area for your clothes and shoes so it keeps your suite tidy. The butler and room attendant looked after us very well and kept our bar and toiletries stocked up. I would bring the butler home if I could. The beauty of Silversea after the lovely ships, staff and food is the size of the ships you sail right into the ports and some destinations you actually over night in which is lovely to do. However if you don't over night they seem to spend a lot longer in port than other cruise ships and the fact you sail right into the port with out getting on the tender boats is a big plus. We did some of the ships excursions which were excellent in Cochin we went on the River Boat and in the Maldives we did the beach visit to a resort - for such a wonderful destination we really needed more time. In Mumbai we took the private car trip with guide which we enjoyed as we could determine how long we were going to stop. Guests onboard are a mix so you find you are not dominated by any nation and a real nice European feel onboard the ship. Entertainment - there is a show each evening and the performs sing extremely well - we liked sitting in the bar and listening to the piano player or the Jazz bar was just excellent. Also enjoy going up to the DJ and sitting on the terrace listening to the music after dinner. Totally recommend for people who like the nicer things in life and enjoy real quality. Not much activities for children so you don't find children onboard really. Read Less

We only ate in the main dining room and LaTerraza....both were great. We loved the lunch buffet in LaTerraza....so many choices. We ate dinner in the room on two evenings....course by course....beautifully presented and very warm. After a long day touring, it was fun to take a break and have dinner in our bathrobes! The health club is adequate and is never crowded. We lounged by the pool one afternoon...again, very quiet and relaxing! They also made a huge fuss over my 60th birthday with room decorations and a surprise carrot cake (my favorite). This ship is very well run. Embarkation took 2 minutes. One of the best cruise experiences we have ever had. The check-in in Athens was the smoothest every with a champagne toast on arrival and an escort to our room, Our Butler Darwin met at the door with a bottle of champagne to assist us in our arrival. The luggage arrived almost as soon as we did. We stayed in Suite 646 a Veranda 4 stateroom. In addition to the bedroom, living room and balcony the suite had a full closet with a chest of drawers and ample room to stand and pick out your wardrobe for the day. The bathroom had a full tube and a shower with ample room to enjoy. We dined in Stars, La Terrazza, The Grill, Le Champagne, Seishin. Each restaurant was special with exceptional service and food. Our favorite was Le Champagne where we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in style, The entertainment was very enjoyable with four song and dance shows and two special ballet shows. We particularly enjoyed the theater seating which was a lounge chair We also signed up for the thermal suite and basically had our own private hot tub and lounge area at the back of the ship to enjoy each afternoon when we returned from shore. This was well worth the additional money. On our Anniversary our Butler Darwin and our room steward Jeffery decorated our room with swans and rose petals and really made the day special. We embarked in Athens (Piraeus) and made port calls to Monemvasia, Aghios Nikolaos on Crete, Marmaris in Turkey, Kusadasi in Turkey, the island of Mykonos, and Mytilene, on the island of Lasvos. We took two of the ships tours to the Palace of Knossos on Crete and to the Ancient Cities of Caunos & Dalyan in Marmaris both were small groups and very interesting. In Monemvasia we went on our own using the local bus to the old fort and had a wonderful lunch at Matoula Restaurantat overlooking the ocean. In Kusadasi, we took a tour to Ephesus & the Terrace Houses provided by our travel agency, VIRTUOSO followed by a wonderful lunch and dance show on a terrace at the Hotel Kismet. In Mykonos, we took the bus provided by the ship to the town of Horta and wondered the alleyways. We found a fantastic restaurant, Restaurant Kostas behind the church recommended by the bus driver which was not crowded. In Mytilene, we found a small public beach not far from the tender drop off to enjoy the morning. On our return to Athens we took the cruise transfer to the airport to catch our return flight. We had a very memorable Silversea Cruise and will be back aboard a Silversea ship in the future. Read Less

We had never been to Eastern Europe so when we saw this cruise we were excited. We would have opportunity to visit and get a feel for these countries/ports without having to invest in a long stay at any one port. The ship was a perfect size, easy to traverse. Our Cabin #508 was larger than expected with a very nice balcony. My only minor issue for the whole cruise was that the refrigerator in the room did not get cold enough to chill wine properly. Our butler, as well as every member of the Silver Spirit staff were exceptionally courteous and efficient. We ate at all but Seishin and Pool Grill. The food was exceptional at all. We enjoyed Stars Supper Club the most. The presentation of 3 small plates for each course was inspired, allowing to taste many different selections. Added to that there was a terrific Jazz duo entertaining during the meal. We had dinner at Stars twice, don't miss!! This was a Ballet cruise and 2 star performers from the Bolshoi Ballet performed in the theater on two different nights, with a meet and greet in the bar afterwards. They were very good but I sensed that their performance, as good as it was, was inhibited a little bit by the size of the stage. We didn't attend any other of the evening performances as we were taking tours every day that left early in the morning and we can no longer stay up that late too often -- ha, ha! As a special activity Fernando, the cruise director, gave Greek Made Easy classes every afternoon. These came in handy since we were spending an extra 4 days in Athens. Thank you Fernando! Embarkation and disembarkation went remarkably smooth and easy. Very well organized. We were off the ship, got our baggage, through customs and in a taxi to our hotel within about 15 minutes!!!! Overall it was a very memorable experience and would highly recommend. Read Less

It is our third cruise with Silversea and we very much enjoyed the cruise, as on the previous opportunities. The cabines are spacious, with varanda. The service is the best point of the cruise: butler, room attendant, attendants at the restaurants and pool. Shows are top: the dancers from Bolshoi offered an incredible experience. The six young people (dancers , singers ) should also be congratulated for their fantastic performance. The food and wine were perfect. Excursions were well organized, but passengers sould get more detailed information on the timing and difficulties (foreseen time before first stop with the bus, more precise expected difficulties, and not only "moderate amount of walking"). Should be remembered that people may not speak English. We understand that English is the world wide language, but at least on TV, there might be Spanish,French, Italian channel and not only six (!) English and one German speaking channel. Read Less

My last cruise was over 10+ years ago on a mega ship with 4500 guests so this cruise must be on a different level. Sorry to say but the mega ship is on a much higher level. All of the restaurants service were agonizingly slow. Each meal would take 3-4 hours to finish. The wait staff didn't bother to remember our names even though they had ipads with our names and pictures while taking our orders every time. We gave up on eating at the restaurant, was just tired of having to wait so long for bad food and service. We end up just ordering burger and fires from room service on most nights. Over all the staff were nice and friendly but that is expected in any service industry. I can't comment about the shows because they were usually almost over when dinner was done. Luckily, we only booked 2 excursions through SilverSea. It was nothing special, big bus, time limits and local guides. We found that booking a local privet car and guide at the port was the way to go. We got to see and go to places where the big buses can't go. So why did I book with Silversea? It was on the recommendations of friends who averages 100+ sailing days per year with Silversea. Long story short, they and many other guests were booking their next trip on other cruise lines while we still had 8 days left on this cruise. I personally will not be booking with Silversea again. I'm looking to book on a new cruise line by a major luxury hotel brand. Read Less

I did not like paying for all my excursions off the ship. Being charged additional for 2 of the 4 restaurants on board was very petty. I felt after saying all food was included was a lie. The food was excellent and so was the service. The pool was closed 2 days do to filter issues and the excersiize facility was too small. Two of the 4 machines were out of order! Not very appealing for a choice for a second cruise! I felt I was overcharged and underdelivered on my cruise package!!! I am a Colonel in a Bourbon Society in SC and the 2 Bourbon selection Jim Beam and Makers Mark were very poor A 2 star Bourbon for a 5 star cruise! You need Blantons and Woodford Reserve at a minimum! Wake up and smell the roses....we did meet 2 nice couples on board and the Artwork was excellent. You did not offer photos as a souvenir or an art show or auction.. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary but, this specific week, because of the weekend watching the Grand Prix in Monoco. We began in Barcelona, a city we were anxious to see. We enjoyed seeing all the Gaui buildings but La Sagrada Familia was truly a work of art. It is a reason, in itself, to come to Barcelona. Cannes, even with all the crowds for the film festival, is a beautiful city. Monte Carlo (and the Grand Prix) speaks for itself. As does the charming little town of Portofino. It was so pleasant to just stroll around the town. The side excursion to Florence left us breathless and wanting to return. As did our stay in Rome and the sites we saw. Could not have asked for a more perfect itinerary. The ship was very luxurious. Our cabin was quite large and very well appointed. The choices for meals were many. And the menu in each of the restaurants was outstanding, meal after meal. There was enough entertainment to fill the evenings and it was all quite professional and enjoyable. The service by everyone was impeccable. Our personal butler could not do enough for us. Everyone always greeted us with a smile and hello - all the day long. It was obvious that everyone had the same mission - to make our stay aboard the very best. And it was. While you can't take credit for the weather - that too was perfect - the entire trip. All pre and post travel arrangements were very well done and took the stress out of our travels. Thanks SilverSea Read Less

We have sailed Silversea's before and switched to Crystal. Decided to try the Silver Spirit since we had not sailed her before. The ship is beautiful and the service from all crew members was excellent. However, we missed a few things that we enjoyed on prior Silversea voyages. There was no Galley Brunch, no live music on the pool deck, and not much fanfare as we left ports. Also, there used to be two shows in the evening. Now, the only show starts around 9:45 PM. For early diners, the gap is too long and there is very little to do while waiting for the show. The Supper Club concept sounded fascinating and romantic but was a huge disappointment. The food was not good, the room was half empty and the "Supper Club" ambience was lacking. Seishin had sushi on the menu but was actually a variety of pre-made rolls that were very heavy on rice and skimpy on fish. After Silk Road on Crystal, this was another huge disappointment for sushi fans. Champagne lived up to its hype. Great food and excellent service. A truly special dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise and will likely continue sailing with Silversea, but it isn't quite as special as it was 10 years ago. PS: The wi-fi is rediculously frustrating. At these rates, everyone should have wi-fi 24/7 anywhere on board. Read Less

Food and facilities were generally excellent. Terraza was a bit hit and miss - excellent the first time and not so good the second time. Sushi Restaurant was great - first timer for sushi and I loved it.. Stars Supper Club has the potential to be excellent (great music and ambiance) but food wasn't quite up to scratch. Stars has a tapas/small plate menu, so each morsel has to be perfect and they really weren't. The Grill has excellent steak and shrimp. The main Restaurant was great every night. Wine selections could not have been better - if we didn't like the daily selection we asked for others and got them at no extra charge. Service was excellent in some areas but not so good in others. Passengers want personal service from crew and now that they have to use iPads in the dining areas for food orders the personal service and interaction has been removed. I think the iPads affected the level of service. Use the iPads away from the customer - After you have taken the order. Read Less

I have just returned from 10 days of the most relaxing holiday on the Spirit. Nothing is too much trouble for the crew. The ship did not feel crowded at any time and we met very interesting people. The ship is in great condition and the suites are very clean and a good size. The different pillow options are perfect as DH cannot sleep without a hard pillow, and the bed is a good size. I loved the Bulgari shampoo, conditioner and body wash they provide. The hairdryer had good power I have long hair and it was absolutely fine. The fact that the mini bar is stocked with whatever you want I had champagne and DH wanted G&T which they made sure fresh lime and lemon slices were in the fridge daily. The food choice is outstanding, we booked all the restaurants and enjoyed them all. Room service is 24 hours and also included. The bar staff will make any cocktail you request, there is a cocktail menu but my favourites were not on the list but it was no bother they just made them – and they are all included in the price. Internet for an hour for each passenger was free per day, but there are packages that can be purchased for faster or longer periods. The only negative is that I had to come home, but we certainly will return Read Less

The experience on the Silver Spirit completely exceeded my expectations. The service is impeccable, the food and drink superb, the fellow passengers interesting, and the ship itself is a beauty! The artwork on board was totally unexpected and much appreciated. Having never been on a cruise before, I really have no comparison, but venture a guess that I chose one of the best. I thought that the idea of having a butler sounded a bit pretentious; however, it really helps when you are attended by one person during the entire cruise. He quickly came to understand what we liked and he made sure we always had a chilled bottle of Champagne in our suite, and he served our coffee every morning at precisely the time selected. Jazz venue, Stars, was wonderful. All of the restaurants were excellent. Tip - reserve early for Le Champagne and Seishin. Hot Rock grill and La Terraza were our favorites, but just barely! Panorama (outside area) and Observation Lounge were quiet and lovely. It is hard coming back to the real world after having been pampered like this for 10 days! Can't wait to take another cruise with SilverSea. Highly recommended! Read Less

We have sailed in the Med numerous times and wanted to experience the Adriatic. While we planned on traveling during the summer months few ships offered great locations literally every day of the voyage. This was our first time on Silver Sea and we were very pleased. Embarkation and disembarkation were uneventful/very smooth. Silver Spirit: The ship is luxurious and small- although there were 550 passengers and nearly same amount of staff, it always felt empty except on the pool deck. BONUS: in addition to cleaning service, the ship has irons, washer/dryer and soap on each floor at no cost. While some of the passengers were extremely rude about using them (in particular a rude Brit who took the soap scoop from one floor to another leaving them without a scoop, rather than just asking the ever-present butlers for one) it was a welcome addition since we traveled prior to the cruise and had a chance to clean some personal items. Enrichment and activities: SS includes some on-shore activities activities and they are adequate if you have never been to the ports. Clive and his staff were really accomodating- especially watching them handle "difficult" passenger who decided to just "join" tours even though they didnt have the courtesy to sign up as the rest of us did. We purchased some excursions- some better than others. Hvar, Dubrovnik, Venice, Split, Zadar, Treiste, Ravenna were lovely. Tried a day tour "Flavours of Montenegro (Kotor)", spent 5 hours in a car and 1 hour each at two RUSTIC family wineries/homes. WONDERFUL people but I cannot imagine that there aren't locations closer than two hours from the port. For $300 it was definitely not worth it. Additionally, we visited Albania- not ready for prime time. Not surprising due to the cost of this cruise, the average age is approx 65 (although there are MANY couples in their 30's, 40'sand 50's and quite a few infants and teenagers) there is NO music on the pool deck or anywhere on the ship. It was SO boring. There has to be a way to have some sort of "beachy" music. I resorted to my ipad. The people likely to complain can't hear it anyway so whats the big deal? FOOD: Every meal was delicious. Waitstaff were all wonderful. Eat at Sheishin for lunch: no charge and the meal is nice. Restaurant serves wonderful meals EVERYTIME. LaTerrazza is good but once is enough-their pesto pasta and bolognese are the best I have ever eaten. The Grill was great- ensure you try the shrimps which were fabulous. LeChampagne- while its an $80 upcharge, is perhaps one of the finest meals we have every experienced anywhere. Deon and Anastasia were certain to please. The only drawback is that there is no food served between 3:30-6pm unless you order room service. Recognize the ship is small but unless you enjoy high tea, you have to eat in your room in the afternoon if you get snacky. One evening event, "Death By Chocolate" was incredible. Make sure you ask what day it takes place. Had a wonderful head waiter, Taiphun, not told us about it, we would have surely missed it. Unfortunately, they used to have a "BBQ under the Stars" but apparently USDA (AKA US bureaucrats) shut it down. What a shame. PS: TOP SHELF liquor and nice wines included. If you don't like the wine they recommend ask for alternatives, which they will provide at no cost- Emily, the sommolier, was sweet and found us what we preferred every time. Finally, the only other areas for improvement would be more on-board events. Even a simple cooking class in the afternoon would be welcome. We went to the "Asian medical improvement" and the presenter was a no-show- too bad the ship didn't even mention it a we were sitting in the area with the sign. While the entertainment staff tried their best, it was boring. Can't believe that every night its the same plan: piano duo on pool deck, followed by the show, followed by lounge entertainment (Lou was great!), followed by the entertainment staff in the lounge...wow. We actually crashed early a few nights because we were desperate for some entertainment and the movie channel was the best we could do.... One final shout-out to the staff- they put Disney (AKA Happiest place on Earth) to shame. Too many to name but every one was wonderful. In summary, would we do it again? Absolutely! Read Less
