We (just the two of us) love the size of this ship and that all the cabins are a comfortable size, though we did have a larger cabin on this particular cruise. The service was impeccable as usual and food was very good (and that is saying a lot since I am a very picky eater). We always arrive a few days before our cruise since we know things can go astray (cancelled flights, delayed flights, etc) plus we enjoy resting up and exploring our departure city. We both love the all-inclusiveness of SilverSeas. There was plenty of good entertainment thru out our Cruise. Our room had so much storage space and the closet was very large for a ship. (Drawers and cabinets galore) The balcony was a nice size with a small table for eating, an adjustable lounge chair and a standard cushioned chair. The only negative was the limited movies as I do enjoy watching movies late at night. I'm glad to see this ship going into dry dock for refurbishments--It will be a great Enhancement. Read Less

Having just returned from a 12 day cruise on the Silver Spirit sailing from the Seychelles to Mumbai I have to report a faultless experience. From the moment we stepped on board, from the “nothing is too much trouble” from the team, from the most accommodating and genuinely nice butler Vipin and the best housekeeper Jacqui we were pampered and treated as real VIP’s. We were on deck 8 The Spa team are a delight ( go for the Thermal suite package ) if you can giving only 20 guests access to a lovely oasis of steam rooms, sauna, thermal beds, jacuzzi and private sun bathing area. The gym is well equipped although the individual treatments are expensive. The food was superb at every restaurant and Damian the restaurant manager runs a superb food and beverage operation. Our cruise was all inclusive, pre dinner cocktails in the bar in deck 5 became the 7.30pm norm ( try the Bermuda sidecars ) then to dinner in a choice of gastro delight restaurants. I advise to book a few ahead on the my Silverseas web portal you will get when you book - we opted for 2 nights in the Grill on deck 10 - steak on the stone style - 2 nights in Stars a tapas style 7 course taster menu with live singer - 1 night in the Sushi restaurant ( although we did do lunch in there a couple of times ), once in La Terraza on deck 7 and the remainder in the main restaurant on deck 4. Every meal was superb ( make sure you sign up for a galley tour with the head chef one day ). There’s as much or as little as you fancy on the entertainment side from bridge, indoor putting, afternoon quizzes, table tennis tournaments, yoga, Pilates etc - it’s there if you want it. A well stocked library and internet room ( you get 1 hour free Wi-fi a day ) even a connoisseur cigar and brandy bar plus a casino and shops. The daily chronicle let’s you know what’s on and where each day and the dress code for dinner - we had 2 formal nights with black tie, 4 informal nights with jackets and 6 casual nights trousers and shirt or polo shirt - no shorts after 6pm in public areas. There is a nightly show at 10 for an hour to an hour and a half and then your choice of disco with DJ Bart on deck 9 in the panorama lounge or jazz and swing in Stars on deck 7 until the early hours. Trips ashore are extra but are well organised again pre book once you get your log in details to your own mysilverseas account. Will we be back with Silverseas - you bet - we’re already looking for next year - we loved it - it was a total chill out for us - we are mid 50’s and still working so it was an absolute treat to just relax and be so well looked after - some retired guests found the days at Seas a little boring but a good book, a comfy sunbed and a team of friendly staff made our days at sea our favourite days. A brilliant time - thank you to all the team in Silverseas Silver Spirit Read Less

Enjoy all inclusive smaller ships. Spirit going in for a face lift and expansion so will be even nicer ship when completed. Cabins are larger than most... dining experience at lunch is excellent... dinner choices are less appealing. Excellent entertainment. Overall service is outstanding. The ports on this itinerary were very disappointing...but sea days were excellent. Fitness center is very small and poorly laid out... equipment faces the wall...and the TV's and audio were not working. Not really a family cruise...mostly senior adults.. romantic atmosphere. Venetian Society has a couple advantages, discounts, cocktail reception... but given the fact liquor is included for the cruise ...cocktail reception isn't really a perk. As with other cruise lines, if you book another cruise while on board, there's an additional discount... which we wanted to take advantage of but we waited until the last day and the consultant on board was busy with other guests so we missed the opportunity for a 10% discount. Wanted to explore South Africa. Cruise enabled us to see a good deal of this country. We were guided by the knowledge and wisdom of an outstanding lecturer, Rob Prescot and the kind and informative interraction with Ira Feldman.. The ship staff was very professional. Excellent service without being overly solicitous. The dining experience was overall outstanding. Top cuisine choices from Japanese to French to Italian and to general cuisine. The entertainment under direction of Adam was outstanding. The young voices were first class. At least two singers were worthy of the Opera staage. The selection and presentation was very professional. The Silver suite was very spacious and the hotel services provided by Al and Niki were excellent. The ports of call were determined by the cruise itinerary and not the very best. Two days in Richards Bay was too much. Too bad you could not find a place to dock closer to Plettenberg Bay and George which is the heart of the Garden route. Read Less

We boarded the Silver Spirit in Dubai and sailed over to the Seychelles - lovely itinerary with some nice sea days as well. Getting onboard the ship was easy and very fast and just no Q's at all. The ship looked lovely and the staff were amazing. We ate in most restuarants my favourite been the main dining room and Hot rocks which is up on the pool deck - gorgeous when you are in port to dine up here. The suite was gorgeous lots of space and very nice furnished with a great dressing room area for your clothes and shoes so it keeps your suite tidy. The butler and room attendant looked after us very well and kept our bar and toiletries stocked up. I would bring the butler home if I could. The beauty of Silversea after the lovely ships, staff and food is the size of the ships you sail right into the ports and some destinations you actually over night in which is lovely to do. However if you don't over night they seem to spend a lot longer in port than other cruise ships and the fact you sail right into the port with out getting on the tender boats is a big plus. We did some of the ships excursions which were excellent in Cochin we went on the River Boat and in the Maldives we did the beach visit to a resort - for such a wonderful destination we really needed more time. In Mumbai we took the private car trip with guide which we enjoyed as we could determine how long we were going to stop. Guests onboard are a mix so you find you are not dominated by any nation and a real nice European feel onboard the ship. Entertainment - there is a show each evening and the performs sing extremely well - we liked sitting in the bar and listening to the piano player or the Jazz bar was just excellent. Also enjoy going up to the DJ and sitting on the terrace listening to the music after dinner. Totally recommend for people who like the nicer things in life and enjoy real quality. Not much activities for children so you don't find children onboard really. Read Less

We travelled Barcelona to Rome in November on Silver Spirit we did this cruise to catch the last of sunshine in the med. We started in Barcelona and ended in Rome The embarkation in Barcelona was seamless a perfect start. The main ports of interest were Malta (arriving by sea was majestic) and both sides of Siciily The ship we have sailed in before and were not disappointed. We had a Silver suite and were looked after so well by butler and steward. The food was excellent in main dining room and La Terazza and we loved Hot Rocks where you cook your own food on the deck, so entertaining even if if the weather is not so good! Having also recently travelled on Silver Muse who no longer have a main dining room, we prefer the dining arrangements on Silver Spirit The entertainment was really good especially a visit by Il Vollo which was turned into theatre plus gala dinner. The three singers gave a first class performance which brought the house down Will be booking another Silver Seas cruise soon Read Less

We went last December to the Caribbean with Silverseas and after having a wonderful holiday we decided to go with Silverseas again. We were not disappointed. The service on board the ship was brilliant. All the staff are so friendly, polite and helpful. Dining was a real pleasure as the food served in all the restaurants was first class. Our butler was really good, since nothing was too much trouble. Our cabin was spacious, luxurious and always spotless and our large bed was deliciously comfortable, so sleeping was a real pleasure. The entertainment provided by the ‘Voices of Silverseas’ were excellent. They provided two high quality shows. I would have like to see them perform on at least one other day, but sadly they were not available. Claudette was excellent on the piano during the evenings as were the jazz duo in the Stars Lounge after 11pm. Our holiday expectations were certainly fulfilled. Read Less

Service was beyond expectation and the food in all venues superb. I liked the variety and ability to choose at no extra cost the different varieties of foods. Open dining was always a good choice. My favorite was La Dame even tho there was a small charge where the food was comparable to the highest restaurant you would pay 4 times for. Rooms large and bathroom larger than expected loved the sitting area. Our butler and room service provided us with constant attention to our every whim. I am a great fan of smaller ships and silver spirit did not disappoint. The amenities in our room were great. I prefer the all inclusive venue. It makes the trip very enjoyable. The tours were very interesting and easy to pick from the descriptions. My favorite was valdemosa and la granja. I enjoyed all of our ports and even explored a couple on my own. Read Less

I read every cruise critic review before we left and was a little concerned. Frankly, I think the negative reviews are wrong. Our service was outstanding every step of the way. Every crew member greeted us warmly. Our butler did a great job with every detail requested. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We only ate in the main dining room and LaTerraza....both were great. We loved the lunch buffet in LaTerraza....so many choices. We ate dinner in the room on two evenings....course by course....beautifully presented and very warm. After a long day touring, it was fun to take a break and have dinner in our bathrobes! The health club is adequate and is never crowded. We lounged by the pool one afternoon...again, very quiet and relaxing! They also made a huge fuss over my 60th birthday with room decorations and a surprise carrot cake (my favorite). This ship is very well run. Embarkation took 2 minutes. Disembarkation was just as smooth. Getting on and off in every port was seamless. SilverSea does everything they can to make your vacation incredible. I will always choose SilverSea! Read Less

One of the best cruise experiences we have ever had. The check-in in Athens was the smoothest every with a champagne toast on arrival and an escort to our room, Our Butler Darwin met at the door with a bottle of champagne to assist us in our arrival. The luggage arrived almost as soon as we did. We stayed in Suite 646 a Veranda 4 stateroom. In addition to the bedroom, living room and balcony the suite had a full closet with a chest of drawers and ample room to stand and pick out your wardrobe for the day. The bathroom had a full tube and a shower with ample room to enjoy. We dined in Stars, La Terrazza, The Grill, Le Champagne, Seishin. Each restaurant was special with exceptional service and food. Our favorite was Le Champagne where we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in style, The entertainment was very enjoyable with four song and dance shows and two special ballet shows. We particularly enjoyed the theater seating which was a lounge chair We also signed up for the thermal suite and basically had our own private hot tub and lounge area at the back of the ship to enjoy each afternoon when we returned from shore. This was well worth the additional money. On our Anniversary our Butler Darwin and our room steward Jeffery decorated our room with swans and rose petals and really made the day special. We embarked in Athens (Piraeus) and made port calls to Monemvasia, Aghios Nikolaos on Crete, Marmaris in Turkey, Kusadasi in Turkey, the island of Mykonos, and Mytilene, on the island of Lasvos. We took two of the ships tours to the Palace of Knossos on Crete and to the Ancient Cities of Caunos & Dalyan in Marmaris both were small groups and very interesting. In Monemvasia we went on our own using the local bus to the old fort and had a wonderful lunch at Matoula Restaurantat overlooking the ocean. In Kusadasi, we took a tour to Ephesus & the Terrace Houses provided by our travel agency, VIRTUOSO followed by a wonderful lunch and dance show on a terrace at the Hotel Kismet. In Mykonos, we took the bus provided by the ship to the town of Horta and wondered the alleyways. We found a fantastic restaurant, Restaurant Kostas behind the church recommended by the bus driver which was not crowded. In Mytilene, we found a small public beach not far from the tender drop off to enjoy the morning. On our return to Athens we took the cruise transfer to the airport to catch our return flight. We had a very memorable Silversea Cruise and will be back aboard a Silversea ship in the future. Read Less

We had never been to Eastern Europe so when we saw this cruise we were excited. We would have opportunity to visit and get a feel for these countries/ports without having to invest in a long stay at any one port. The ship was a perfect size, easy to traverse. Our Cabin #508 was larger than expected with a very nice balcony. My only minor issue for the whole cruise was that the refrigerator in the room did not get cold enough to chill wine properly. Our butler, as well as every member of the Silver Spirit staff were exceptionally courteous and efficient. We ate at all but Seishin and Pool Grill. The food was exceptional at all. We enjoyed Stars Supper Club the most. The presentation of 3 small plates for each course was inspired, allowing to taste many different selections. Added to that there was a terrific Jazz duo entertaining during the meal. We had dinner at Stars twice, don't miss!! This was a Ballet cruise and 2 star performers from the Bolshoi Ballet performed in the theater on two different nights, with a meet and greet in the bar afterwards. They were very good but I sensed that their performance, as good as it was, was inhibited a little bit by the size of the stage. We didn't attend any other of the evening performances as we were taking tours every day that left early in the morning and we can no longer stay up that late too often -- ha, ha! As a special activity Fernando, the cruise director, gave Greek Made Easy classes every afternoon. These came in handy since we were spending an extra 4 days in Athens. Thank you Fernando! Embarkation and disembarkation went remarkably smooth and easy. Very well organized. We were off the ship, got our baggage, through customs and in a taxi to our hotel within about 15 minutes!!!! Overall it was a very memorable experience and would highly recommend. Read Less

This was our first cruise on Silversea and we were extremely impressed. Our cruising background is limited, only three recent Celebrity cruises and one Norwegian back in 1989. I was a bit worried about prior negative reviews and cannot understand some of the negative commentary. We found the strongest aspect of this cruise to be the food/beverage. In short, everything we were served was wonderful. Once you give yourself in to the multi-course slower pace of dining it makes perfect sense. Highlights were La Terazza and Shen Shen but we loved all the restaurants, including the main dining room. The biggest difference between Silversea and Celebrity, aside from the better food, would be the lack of crowds. There was never a line anywhere on the ship and pool butlers were always available to set up a chair either by the pool or on the deck area. A huge plus. While a bit small due to the size of the ship, the workout area was well appointed an rarely had any more than one other person using a machine. Classes were free and the guy running the gym was very good. Read Less

AFTER 14 years of Mass Market Cruising I was given the opportunity to step out of the box and sail a luxury line. I did a lot of research and found SIlversea and I am so glad It exceeded expectations. Small ship, (500 pax range). Food, service, entire ambiance is just awesome. Cabins are large and comfortable. BIG Walk In closet and BIG bathroom. Nice size balcony too. Oh, the towels......I LOVE THEM.....BIG BATHSHEETS.....so fluffy! And the toiletries offered are BVGALRI.........outstanding. The food/service were all excellent. Staff is warm and welcoming. Food all very fresh and they will make you whatever you want if you don't find something on the menu that is appealing. Even the buffet is wonderful. Both breakfast and lunch, all so fresh, many choices and everything is always kept clean and spotless and the wait staff willeven carry your plate to your table. They are all always there to help. There are several restaurants on board, I tried 3 of them and was quite impressed. The GRILL.......you cook on a hot stone, a lot of fun. La Terrazza, Italain and STARZ,which was my favorite. It has a tasting menu and there is entertainment too. A singerand piano player who were both very good. The singers and dancers were pretty good too. I went to 3 or 4 shows throughout thecruise.....enjoyed most all of them. I met some lovely folks on board. I sail solo and there were quite a few other single/solo passengers on board. And I met other folks too......most everyone was friendly. You always get the occasional mean spirited guest...that happened too but overall,I found everyone pleasant and friendly. We sailed from Barcelona to Rome and I loved the itinerary. I took all my tours throughthe cruise line and was impressed. My favorite place is FLORENCE and loved it! If you are able to sail luxury, I would highly recommend SILVERSEA. Silverseas cruise line is one of our favorite and our recent cruise on the Silver Spirit once again was proof to us of Silverseas excellence. Our Mediterranean cruise from 5/31/17 thru June 7th 2017 provided us with a lifetime of memory and the crew of Silverseas played a major role in ensuring a memorable time. Our vacation started out rocky due to a mishap with British Airways meltdown and lost luggage. We had planned three days in Rome prior to the start of our cruise and we were left without luggage so when we boarded our cruise we had no luggage and limited clothing . Of course it was not the way we wanted to start our cruise but the Silversea crew came roaring to our rescue! Priscilla the Guest Relations Manager, Marlon our butler and Gracie our maid and so many others were absolutely wonderful to us. Priscilla was compassionate and understanding and arranged for a crew member to come to our suite and was able to provide me with shirts, slacks, t-shirts, dress shirts etc so that we could enjoy the cruise in comfort. Priscilla and her crew truly only wanted our happiness and wanted us to enjoy our time with Silversea and went above and beyond for us and for that I give this cruise-line and the Silver Spirit a 5 diamond rating!! The ship itself was very nice and the food, entertainment and accommodation were great. We did find the excursions to be a bit cramped for time and some of the excursion guides were difficult to understand but overall the excursions were adequate in terms of guidance the excursion locations were wonderful. The only other negative we would have is that our experience with the Silver Whisper on a prior cruise was a bit more intimate and the embarkation process on the Silver Spirit was a bit sloppy and not as memorable compared to our previous experience. But we would like to thank Priscilla the Guest Relations Manager, Marlon our butler, Gracie our maid and Miles the cruise director and all of the Silversea staff for a wonderful experience, these crew members work very long and hard hours to ensure our comfort and happiness and they deserve outstanding recognition. We will return! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary but, this specific week, because of the weekend watching the Grand Prix in Monoco. We began in Barcelona, a city we were anxious to see. We enjoyed seeing all the Gaui buildings but La Sagrada Familia was truly a work of art. It is a reason, in itself, to come to Barcelona. Cannes, even with all the crowds for the film festival, is a beautiful city. Monte Carlo (and the Grand Prix) speaks for itself. As does the charming little town of Portofino. It was so pleasant to just stroll around the town. The side excursion to Florence left us breathless and wanting to return. As did our stay in Rome and the sites we saw. Could not have asked for a more perfect itinerary. The ship was very luxurious. Our cabin was quite large and very well appointed. The choices for meals were many. And the menu in each of the restaurants was outstanding, meal after meal. There was enough entertainment to fill the evenings and it was all quite professional and enjoyable. The service by everyone was impeccable. Our personal butler could not do enough for us. Everyone always greeted us with a smile and hello - all the day long. It was obvious that everyone had the same mission - to make our stay aboard the very best. And it was. While you can't take credit for the weather - that too was perfect - the entire trip. All pre and post travel arrangements were very well done and took the stress out of our travels. Thanks SilverSea Read Less

Since it was my first time in a cruiser, I find it difficult to make a comparison. Our butler Dorothy and our room service Hilda were perfect. They did their best to make us comfortable and to meet our wishes. Other crew members were also friendly and easy to talk to. Two of the 8 restaurants onboard did not meet our expectations and we went only once in each. The other ones were excellent. In one of them we had live music with a very good singer. She performed a tasteful repertoire. Unfortunately, I attended only one of the night shows and it was not what I expected. The singer had a good voice but used a lot of playback, which I found disappointing. When he played with the Silversea Trio, then it was good. I have just returned from 10 days of the most relaxing holiday on the Spirit. Nothing is too much trouble for the crew. The ship did not feel crowded at any time and we met very interesting people. The ship is in great condition and the suites are very clean and a good size. The different pillow options are perfect as DH cannot sleep without a hard pillow, and the bed is a good size. I loved the Bulgari shampoo, conditioner and body wash they provide. The hairdryer had good power I have long hair and it was absolutely fine. The fact that the mini bar is stocked with whatever you want I had champagne and DH wanted G&T which they made sure fresh lime and lemon slices were in the fridge daily. The food choice is outstanding, we booked all the restaurants and enjoyed them all. Room service is 24 hours and also included. The bar staff will make any cocktail you request, there is a cocktail menu but my favourites were not on the list but it was no bother they just made them – and they are all included in the price. Internet for an hour for each passenger was free per day, but there are packages that can be purchased for faster or longer periods. The only negative is that I had to come home, but we certainly will return Read Less

The service was excellent form the butler and room attendant to the restaurant crew, bar crew and executive staff. This was our first cruise on the Spirit having sailed on the Wind, the Cloud, and the Shadow and we did not know what to expect as far as a larger ship. We were very pleased that there was no feeling of crowded areas. There was plenty of room to spread out in any of the public rooms and pool area. The ship was practically a modern art museum with works by Miro, Dali, Chagall, Erte, and many others which added to the overall cruise experience. The entertainment was quite good for this type of cruise. There were three lecturers. Two of them were execllent. The third did lectures on baseball which we did not attend. Read Less

I chose the ship based on the itinerary and past experience with Silver Sea. The food and service on board were fantastic. There is a great variety of restaurants and activities. The entertainers were exceptional. I didn't care for the violinist or flautist. It would have been nicer to have a comedian or magician or something along those lines. Most of the people slept through the concert. The Silver Sea entertainers are fantastic. Stefano the singer should be on Broadway. His voice is amazing. The DJ did an outstanding job of keeping the dancing going late in the Panorama Lounge. I enjoyed dining in La Terrazza very much. More time in Lisbon would have been good and because of weather we missed Horta. We did enjoy an overnight in Punta Delgada which was nice for all of us. The staff is very conscientious and they go out of their way to remember your preferences. It's amazing they meet so many people but still remember faces from past cruises. Read Less

The experience on the Silver Spirit completely exceeded my expectations. The service is impeccable, the food and drink superb, the fellow passengers interesting, and the ship itself is a beauty! The artwork on board was totally unexpected and much appreciated. Having never been on a cruise before, I really have no comparison, but venture a guess that I chose one of the best. I thought that the idea of having a butler sounded a bit pretentious; however, it really helps when you are attended by one person during the entire cruise. He quickly came to understand what we liked and he made sure we always had a chilled bottle of Champagne in our suite, and he served our coffee every morning at precisely the time selected. Jazz venue, Stars, was wonderful. All of the restaurants were excellent. Tip - reserve early for Le Champagne and Seishin. Hot Rock grill and La Terraza were our favorites, but just barely! Panorama (outside area) and Observation Lounge were quiet and lovely. It is hard coming back to the real world after having been pampered like this for 10 days! Wow, what a fantastic adventure! Silver Spirit is a beautiful ship, crew is attentive, incredibly service oriented. The destinations were amazing, a blend of nature adventure and opportunities to sample local culture and events. Silver Sea's all inclusive approach makes everything smooth, no awkward moments when meeting with friends or meeting new friends about who gets the tab. Wine enthusiasts, foodies and just plain adventuresome folks with means should consider Silver Seas. One complaint, smoking!!! Beware that half the pool deck, the pool bar, the outside dining at La Terrazza and outside lounge at Panorama are all smoking areas. Though only a very small percentage of the guests were smokers (perhaps 20 guests of 550?), a few dedicated chain smokers made life miserable in the above venues. Given that smoking is increasingly a habit most reflective of older, less affluent folks, why does Silver Sea dedicate so much space to a shrinking demographic? In retrospect, a wonderful adventure, we've booked 2 more Silver Seas cruises and are loyal customers. Read Less

Starting several weeks prior to departure, we had expectantly scanned reviews for confirmation that we made the right choice of cruises. Rest assured - you can sail with complete confidence in excellence of service with this cruise line. We sailed from Barbados over the Christmas holiday. Although the wait to clear customs was a bit tedious (several jumbo jets arrived at the same time) and this led to a delay in getting all of the passengers to the ship by departure time. In fact, we were among the last to arrive and check in, even as the muster station drill was in progress. No worries - soon afterwards, the head barman, Chester, was sympathizing with us that all of the usual flawless embarkation procedures had been thrown off by these circumstances and that he felt terrible about this since Silversea clientele are not used to this, but that we would make everything right - which he immediately did with several exceptional cocktails! We were thrilled to see several waiters that we remembered and who actually also remembered us from a Silversea cruise 2-1/2 years prior in Alaska. The warmth, humor and constant entertainment they provided during all of the meals in all of the venues is an example of what distinguishes this line from others. Even the pool staff were quite exceptional, rescuing our books which he had left on the pool chair when it briefly started to rain. We were amazed that the butler and maid always knew when we had left the room and were in and out without fail before we returned. We commented on this to them and they replied - "we have to remain sensitive to when people are resting!" We were also surprised that although the ship was almost full, as we were disembarking and traveling home, there were still many passengers whom we had not come across during the cruise. Again, a tribute to how well spread out the ship was - you never felt crowded. Even during the sea day when the pool was quite popular, there were always places just around the corner to escape for some quiet reading time. We had one of the most outstanding lunches in the main dining room during a port day at Curacao - there were only a few tables occupied and we had the full attention of the entire wait staff! Meals in all of the other venues were likewise excellent. While the buffet often remained the same, you still had the option of asking for something customized to your taste and they produced it without fail. Entertainment was excellent. The shows were quite varied, not too long in length and very amusing. Cruise director Moss Hill was a hoot! There were many activities which we simply didn't have time to participate in. Could go on and on about specifics, but don't worry - you'll discover it on your own. Enjoy! Read Less

Off season time in the Caribbean is a great price. Age of guests is pretty much the same as Regent and Oceania. Internet went out for a day and the captain gave everyone a $200 credit. Nice touch. The wine was exceptional throughout. Not super expensive wines but in the $15-20 range, far better than the cheap stuff on Regent in Alaska. The food did hit a few rough patches. The main dining room was always excellent, but we were disappointed in Stars supper club and the Hot Rocks. Hot Rocks is where you cook your food under the stars outdoors. It was super hot and humid so that made is uncomfortable. The steak was nothing special. But the prawns were delicious and the largest I’ve ever seen. The salad, potato and vegetable was disappointing. Stars club had a great pianist and singer but they tried to do too many things in their tapas and they weren’t all good. I would have preferred they let you order your own tapas rather than have things cool and made ahead of time. Le Champagne, the pay extra restaurant, and Seishin were both outstanding. Entertainment was a bit lacking. Due to the internet problem, the movies didn’t work, so we got half way through and had to quit watching. The only regular TV was news channels. The jazz singer was the best evening entertainment and you could go in there even if you weren’t having dinner. She was great for after dinner drinks and music. We had the beds made as twins, and since they are a queen when put together, they were very small. We did ok but I’d prefer a king bed, broken into twins. You don’t get that on very many lines though unless you are in a fancy suite. We did get upgraded 3 levels, although all that does is put you on a higher floor. Service was absolutely excellent everywhere. No one ever left our wine glass empty. We had trouble with that on Regent in Alaska. There were only two boutiques and they didn’t have anything casual - all high end jewelry, clothes and perfume. I like some simple tshirts and silver jewelry which was missing. Room - same size as Regent and Oceania. Larger shower which is nice, and a tub which we don't use. Bulgaria amenities but you can have Ferragamo or a non- allergenic option. Comfortable chairs that recline on the balcony. Room not as fancy interior as the others but they are redoing this ship next year. It's fine just not noticeably fancy. 2 tvs in the mirrors with over 300 movies for free (until it didn't work). No sports channels - just news and movies. Internet is free and not fast but ok for email. Beds comfortable but small (we have them made as twins). Choice of pillows and blankets or down quilt. AC works well. Great lighting for makeup. Extension cord readily available for c-pap machine. The ship is like a comfortable yacht. Only 2 shops. Expensive art work for sale on the walls but no dramatic staircases etc like other ships have. We like it fine but there isn't a wow factor other than art. Food is better than Regent and Oceania across the board. For example, the lobster is fresh Maine lobster, not frozen or Caribbean as it was on Regent. Foie gras on menus although I don't like it. Great sushi. And service is outstanding. The free wines are much better than Regent Alaska cruise. The markup on the special wines is not high at all but we've been happy with the wines provided and they don't try to push you to buy a more expensive one. Entertainment is a weak spot. The excursions are very fairly priced ($59 for a 3 hour snorkel trip) so they don't gouge on that like Oceania does. Spa is expensive as all the at sea ones are. Read Less

My wife and I went with another married couple and we can honestly say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with Silverseas. We were warmly greeted when we came on board the ship at Barbados, and that warmth was a feature of the attention that we received while we were on the Silver Spirit. Our cabin was spacious, tastefully decorated and boasted numerous cupboards and shelves where you could store clothes and your personal belongings. The bathroom/shower room was luxurious, with a shower that was easy to operate as well as being effective for it delivered a torrent of instant warm/hot water. Our cabin was cleaned daily to the highest possible standards - in fact, the cleaning staff did an amazing job in this respect. There is a wide variety of restaurants on board the ship to suit everyones taste and once you're sitting down, the standard of food and service in all of them was excellent, indeed, nothing was too much trouble for the waiters. Every meal was a fine dining experience since the food was beautifully cooked and presented. The entertainment on board the ship was of the highest standard. The course director, Moss, was a brillliant host, entertainer and coordinator. We saw most of the evening shows performed by the team of resident entertainers and I can honestly say that the singing, dancing and costumes were fantastic. A special word for the reception staff. They were always, polite, friendly and very anxious to resolve any issue that you might have. I couldn't fault them. I would certainly recommend Silverseas for a great cruising holiday. Read Less

For our first cruise we selected SilverSea based on reviews we'd seen on a lot of sites, but specifically Cruise Critic, plus recommendations from friends who had sailed with Silversea before. We selected this 7 night cruise because we were spending a few days in Tuscany prior to departure and Rome was a great embarkation point for us. In addition, we liked the idea of sailing north through the ports selected for this voyage, ending in Barcelona. We found our itinerary to be a little daunting, as we visited numerous Tuscan towns over 4 - 5 days and then spent a full day with a guide in Rome. Yet, the Rome Cavalieri hotel that SilverSea used was fantastic, in every way. Comfortable room, excellent dining, and a great location, not to mention their fantastic service attitude. Regarding the cruise itself, first we found SilverSea's organization to be incredible. Just the act of getting so many people organized and bused to and from the ship was a challenge that they've definitely figured out how to navigate. Onboarding was easy and even the initial muster drill was a bit of a lark. Onboard, the organization continued to be excellent with most questions a traveler would have being answered before you even asked. Our Veranda Suite was roomy and comfortable, and the service provided by our butler and the maid were timed perfectly and delivered with, again, great attitudes. Point in fact, we found the attitude of all staff members on the Silver Spirit to be enthusiastic and pleasant. Food in the restaurants was excellent. We visited all the normal, standard restaurants (La Terraza, The Restaurant, The Pool Grill), as well as Sheishin and La Champagne. One suggestion might help and that would be to expand the menu at the pool grill. It seemed a bit limited, although what was offered was normally very good. Ports of call were interesting. As this was our first cruise we only chose to use the "included" excursions and realize now that we might have enjoyed being off ship better if we had chosen some more select outings. The standard excursions began rather early in the day for us and were really dependent on the quality of the local guides and some mediocre listening devices. In our case, several were mainly average and one, at Porto Mahon, was outstanding. A suggestion for Silver Sea might be to schedule one or two of the included excursions a bit later in the day. One other comment on the excursions. In one instance we had chosen "Medieval Lucca" as our excursion. Unfortunately, on the day we visited the annual Comics & Games Festival was being held in Lucca, which caused the city to be overrun by costumed characters and limited our ability to see the town. I do know that one tour group was given the option of leaving and visiting Pisa instead. In another instance, we visited Monaco and Monte Carlo on a day that the Banks were closed, as were many of the local shops. I'm sure SilverSea was aware of these two situations and might have offered options in advance. Overall, however, we still think this was an outstanding experience for us and we will certainly consider sailing with SilverSea again. Read Less
