From past experience with Silversea and this was a new itinerary for us. Positives were the usual Silversea attention and courtesy. Food not quite as good as in previous cruises. On shore excursions disappointing excessively lengthy. Morning excursions sometimes returned to ship too late for lunch except on the pool deck where it was sometimes too cold to ne outside. However deck service was excellent as was service at other restaurants. Transfer from disembarkation to airport in Fiumicino left us with over four hours to wait for flight. Bus dropped us up at far end of terminal three and we had a long walk with luggage back to terminal one, when the driver could have dropped us off at terminal one which we drove right by. We had very long walk to the gate. Airport staff refused to help us. Silversea should tell passengers that there could be a long walk to gate and offer to provide transportation. Breakfast was always prepared too early with the result it was either cold or the butler had to wake us up too early. Read Less

Service was beyond expectation and the food in all venues superb. I liked the variety and ability to choose at no extra cost the different varieties of foods. Open dining was always a good choice. My favorite was La Dame even tho there was a small charge where the food was comparable to the highest restaurant you would pay 4 times for. Rooms large and bathroom larger than expected loved the sitting area. Our butler and room service provided us with constant attention to our every whim. I am a great fan of smaller ships and silver spirit did not disappoint. The amenities in our room were great. I prefer the all inclusive venue. It makes the trip very enjoyable. The tours were very interesting and easy to pick from the descriptions. My favorite was valdemosa and la granja. I enjoyed all of our ports and even explored a couple on my own. Read Less

We chose this cruise because is was rated so well and was a smaller cruise ship. With that we expected more individualized service. We did not find the service or the food to be remarkable in any way. The better meals were at the restaurants that you had to pay extra to dine at. I am a vegetarian and basically survived on French Fries, Salad, and pizza for two weeks. They were not able to meet my vegetarian requirements. For dinner I was actually offered an omelet on several occasions. They didn't even have an omelet station for breakfast in the morning so I ended up with scrambled eggs (they were doused in butter). Nothing was made to order. I could do better in a diner or a fast food restaurant. It was so upsetting. The staff would apologize and vow to make changes but every meal was so stressful and no matter what I ordered they seemed unable or unwilling to prepare it. One night I asked for eggplant parmigiana without the cheese and they would not accommodate me saying it was already prepared. The vegetarian soups were often made with beef or chicken stock so I was not able to eat the soup. Every meal was an ordeal and it was so stressful. We would eat as many meals as we could off ship where we could easily find vegetarian options. We discussed the problem several times with the managers and they would apologize profusely but the same problem would exist at the next meal to the point that I was having anxiety attacks at the thought of going to a meal on the ship. I have been on Disney, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival cruise and all of these cruise lines were able to accommodate me sufficiently. Why, with 5 star chefs, were they not able to come up with decent vegetarian options is beyond me. I will admit there were several decent meals but it was always stressful and nothing that ever rated 5 star in my mind. My husband who is not a vegetarian thought that the food was good but not outstanding. I was just surprised that they were so unable to meet my dietary restrictions. We did meet wonderful people on the cruise but I did hear other people make statements that the food was not as good as it should have been. We were also disappointment in the excursions. We went on one and then cancelled the others because we were so disappointed. Several of our fellow cruisers walks out of the excursion tour because the tour guide did not speak English well and did not seem to have any real knowledge of the sights he was showing us. Read Less

We had a fabulous experience in virtually every way two years ago on the Silver Wind so we were really looking forward to another cruise with Silversea. We chose this trip because of it's itinerary, but little did we expect that the excursions would be led by such poor guides and leaving us with a very unsatisfied feeling about the cost vs value received . Realistically, the rest of the cruise could have been perfect but with excursions being so poor and also VERY expensive, it is hard to come away with a good feeling about the TOTAL experience. In fairness: the food was excellent, the ship offered an outstanding sommelier program which was truly a highlight (and FREE), excellent guest speaker from Columbia University, our butlers were fantastic and totally on the ball, the wines served on the cruise were very interesting, often regional according to port and well thought out, dinner at La Dame was amazing and even for a non-sushi lover-the food at Senshei was excellent, entertainment was very good most nights but not as frequent as it could have been in my view, bar service and restaurant was top notch and very accomodating. One last item-the ship is very dated decor wise but we were told it is going to be retrofitted next year. Read Less

went on one last year to Alaska and loved it My husband spoiled us by getting the owner's suite which was really luxurious. However, we were extremely disappointed in how few shows the crew of six performed - why were there two movie nights and two done by Mr. Moss - one of his would have been more than enough. There must be a better system in getting reservations for La Dame - people should be charged the per person fee if they don't cancel by noon that day - it was a shame that there were empty tables both times that we were there but the food was outstanding. Food was only mediocre in the dining room; far better in La Traviata. The excursion for La Hambre needs to be addressed in order to not have so many people on the waiting list. I also don't understand how a biking tour done thru you could be so much more money than going thru Viator. Read Less

We chose this cruise because Silver Sea is one of several cruise 5-star luxury cruise lines and we liked the itinerary (and our friends asked us to join them). While the cruise was very good overall, we felt that some of the "rules" were rigid and the staff, while anxious to please, often wasn't well trained. On several occasions, we were told that the specialty dining room was sold out. We showed up anyhow and the room was always half empty! A pity for the staff that had to prepare the meals. Apparently, there were "no shows." While I don't believe in extra charges, I think there should have been a charge if someone confirmed a reservation and then didn't show, denying it to someone else. There wasn't a good explanation of the wi-fi scheme and maybe it should have been included in the "all-inclusive" rate. Our one free hour ran out because we weren't told that we had to log out. At the end of the cruise, there was a charge for wi-fi but it couldn't be removed, because the computers were closed. That should have been the time when the bills should have been resolved. There seemed to be a lot of excuses like that. The ship's common areas were a little bit dated. We learned that it is going in for a retrofit in March. I guess it is common on cruises but there was always someone trying to sell you something: art, shoe inserts, you name it. The excursions were priced about 50-75% above what I was able to arrange on my own (I guess that's typical). Read Less

I read every cruise critic review before we left and was a little concerned. Frankly, I think the negative reviews are wrong. Our service was outstanding every step of the way. Every crew member greeted us warmly. Our butler did a great job with every detail requested. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We only ate in the main dining room and LaTerraza....both were great. We loved the lunch buffet in LaTerraza....so many choices. We ate dinner in the room on two evenings....course by course....beautifully presented and very warm. After a long day touring, it was fun to take a break and have dinner in our bathrobes! The health club is adequate and is never crowded. We lounged by the pool one afternoon...again, very quiet and relaxing! They also made a huge fuss over my 60th birthday with room decorations and a surprise carrot cake (my favorite). This ship is very well run. Embarkation took 2 minutes. Disembarkation was just as smooth. Getting on and off in every port was seamless. SilverSea does everything they can to make your vacation incredible. I will always choose SilverSea! Read Less

We went on a 7 day trip from Athens to Venice. This was a great itinerary with many wonderful stops. It was the main reason we selected this cruise. We thought the excursions were very good. We only booked the half day or shorter ones but we did do one everyday . We booked our own in Venice because Silversea wait listed us on the one we wanted. We thought that was unusual since we booked very soon after they became available. They told us it was available once we boarded but we already had paid for a different one online. The food was not amazing but fine.. We did not eat at any of the restaurants which required an extra fee. There is only one restaurant that does not require reservations out of all the dining options. The service was sporadic . At times it would be very good and at other times it seemed you were ignored. The entertainers gave it their all and we appreciated that. We had no problems with embarkation or debarkation. The biggest deal breaker for us was the cabin . The ship is said to be non-smoking . The hallway outside our cabin smelled of cigarette smoke the first day. By the third to fourth day , inside our cabin smelled like smoke, especially in the evening and through the night. We made several attempts to alert the staff. They sent personnel but they did nothing to change the situation. We found it unacceptable, especially being medical professionals ourselves, for a luxury cruise line to have cigarette smoke venting into a cabin and take no measures to rectify the problem. Overall,we will not choose Silversea again. Read Less

Silversea Cruise Critique: Athens to Venice September 21 to September 28, 2027 The Silversea doesn't compare in its service, in the quality of its staff nor in its overall attitude to the Seabourn. Here are a few examples: Food: The cuisine is too nouvelle: ‘too cutesy by half’. The portions are small; odd combinations that don't work together; poorly prepared, and frequently luke-warm. Dinner entrees with incredibly sized entree portions: One night my entree had only 3 scallops and another only 3 raviolis. There is no choice if you want to order wine by the glass. For example, if you want a glass of red wine, you get whatever they are offering that day; otherwise you must buy a bottle. The choice of 2 or 3 room service appetizers were limited and nontraditional. No shrimp cocktail; no antipasti (and this is an Italian ship); no pate or assortment of cheeses or nuts; and no free caviar. Staff: The personnel do not seem to have a service orientation. Most of the staff are genuinely disinterested and appear to be ‘working’ by rote. The maître d ’hotels appear annoyed if you don't like the location of the table they offer you at meals and are disgruntled if you ask them to find a different one. Disagreeable and borderline surly restaurant managers spend more time talking to each other than helping guests. Waiter staffs who only want to do the expedient thing: dish the food at you and move on so they can wrap up their meal service chores. Their touted 'butler' service is over rated. When ours wasn’t busy looking for a tip, he caught a cold which my wife then caught. Shore Excursions: The arrangements of the timing of the ship getting into each port and the shore excursions are poorly planned. Instead of arriving at 8 am and starting a shore excursion at 8:15 am, if the ship were to arrive a little later, and depart a little later, the shore excursion could occur later. This is particularly important for excursions that involve swimming when that activity should occur in a hotter part of the day. Many of the shore excursions/ports of call were not well thought out and in at least one case, passengers complained and a partial refund was obtained from the shore operator. Their brochure offered a transfer excursion in Venice on disembarkation day as part of the transfer to the hotel. The offer was perfectly clear and in plain English. But in a bait and switch move, they reneged on that option. Miscellaneous: Wi-Fi was way over priced and then worked only sporadically and inconsistently. A polite inquiry was summarily dismissed and not treated with any effort to understand or investigate. Generally the atmosphere on this cruise was one of being 'nickeled and dimed': an extra charge for everything. Bottom Line: They are chintzy while trying to appear ritzy. The Silversea cruise line is not worth the price and certainly doesn't compare to the Seabourn. Read Less

We found the restaurants to be pretty good. Not a very good experience at Le Champagne. Several of the dishes had been sitting for awhile with mushroom soup being lumpy. We had to stir the soup to eat it. It should be better. Great wine selection and nice size Foie Gras. We found the Italian restaurant and the main dining room to our liking. We had two reservations in both Le Champagne and the Japanese. Cancelled the second reservation in both. If we had to pick a weak spot for the overall experience, it would be the staff. Slow food service at the pool. Our room was not clean when we checked in. Trash under the bed with dust bunnies, sticky residue on counter top and on our phone. After that was addressed we had no problems, room was kept clean. Our butler was very nice, but it took two days before our bar was stocked. Our travel partners across the hallway got their bar stocked on day one. The reception was unable to answer simple questions regarding disembarkation. We got off the ship in Venice, at a dock far away from the main port terminal. Reception had no idea how to arrange private taxi transfer to our hotel. We had not purchased transfer thru SilverSea what we felt was completely overpriced private boat taxi to our hotel. The fact that the reception did not know the process is unacceptable. It turned out to be very simple. Just pick up your bags and walk 100 yards to the Taxi dispatcher! We had prepaid for the transfer directly with Venicelink and had to wait about 30min for the boat. No big deal. Spa was nice, but again very expensive. Workout facilities, about the size of a tiny hotel room, basic. Found it annoying that all of the pools and every hot tub on the ship where drained and closed the morning before we got off the boat. None of the people we talked to had heard of this being scheduled. Pools and hot tubs are a major part of the facilities on a ship and loosing all of them for 1 of 7 days we felt ripped off. We had very low expectations of the on board entertainment and after attending one event that was confirmed. No big deal. Did not partake in any of the shore excursions as we booked our own for 1/2 the price on-line. Used tenders to reach two of the ports, very well run, never waited at all. Well done! Buffet for both breakfast and lunch where outstanding. Decent wines served everywhere. Security on board and at shore was good. We felt safe and secure. Read Less

The onboard entertainment was extremely poor. The cruise director served as the main entertainment ( kind of mom and pop) and the rest of the entertainers were poor. The room was well kept and serviced and modern and clean. The ship is well kept and clean. The exercise facility is small and limited. Spa facilities are over the top expensive. One of the best cruise experiences we have ever had. The check-in in Athens was the smoothest every with a champagne toast on arrival and an escort to our room, Our Butler Darwin met at the door with a bottle of champagne to assist us in our arrival. The luggage arrived almost as soon as we did. We stayed in Suite 646 a Veranda 4 stateroom. In addition to the bedroom, living room and balcony the suite had a full closet with a chest of drawers and ample room to stand and pick out your wardrobe for the day. The bathroom had a full tube and a shower with ample room to enjoy. We dined in Stars, La Terrazza, The Grill, Le Champagne, Seishin. Each restaurant was special with exceptional service and food. Our favorite was Le Champagne where we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in style, The entertainment was very enjoyable with four song and dance shows and two special ballet shows. We particularly enjoyed the theater seating which was a lounge chair We also signed up for the thermal suite and basically had our own private hot tub and lounge area at the back of the ship to enjoy each afternoon when we returned from shore. This was well worth the additional money. On our Anniversary our Butler Darwin and our room steward Jeffery decorated our room with swans and rose petals and really made the day special. We embarked in Athens (Piraeus) and made port calls to Monemvasia, Aghios Nikolaos on Crete, Marmaris in Turkey, Kusadasi in Turkey, the island of Mykonos, and Mytilene, on the island of Lasvos. We took two of the ships tours to the Palace of Knossos on Crete and to the Ancient Cities of Caunos & Dalyan in Marmaris both were small groups and very interesting. In Monemvasia we went on our own using the local bus to the old fort and had a wonderful lunch at Matoula Restaurantat overlooking the ocean. In Kusadasi, we took a tour to Ephesus & the Terrace Houses provided by our travel agency, VIRTUOSO followed by a wonderful lunch and dance show on a terrace at the Hotel Kismet. In Mykonos, we took the bus provided by the ship to the town of Horta and wondered the alleyways. We found a fantastic restaurant, Restaurant Kostas behind the church recommended by the bus driver which was not crowded. In Mytilene, we found a small public beach not far from the tender drop off to enjoy the morning. On our return to Athens we took the cruise transfer to the airport to catch our return flight. We had a very memorable Silversea Cruise and will be back aboard a Silversea ship in the future. Read Less

Never been near the Adriatic or the Balkan countries, thought this as a way to touch on some of them. The cabin was excellent as well as the cabin service. Dining for the most part was very good but the upscale venues left a bit to be desired. The dress code was not uniformly enforced, seemed that some guests were allowed to ignore. The shore excursions were poor and in general a waste of time and money. I would recommend arranging one's own tours or sight seeing. One of the stops was Santorini, could not see what the draw is, needs a good going over, looked tired. The 4 ports we stopped at (Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro) were exceptionally clean and people very friendly, I would certainly visit ant of them again particularly Kotor in Montenegro, breathtaking vistas. I would say this is not a cruise for children, very adult in structure. I emphasize the service was beyond reproach by the cabin attendants. Read Less

This was our fifth cruise with Silversea. Ports were excellent and dates worked for us. Thought the food was average, dinner service was ok. Suite (848) was not good because of a constant vibration in the wall whenever the ship was underway. Something wrong when the wall is vibrating all the way up on the 8th deck. Makes you wonder about the engines/props. Could not read in bed because the headboard was vibrating so bad. Sleep was interrupted if the pillow moved next to the headboard. The ship (Silver Spirit) seemed different from other cruise ships we have been on. We would have a lot of questions before booking on the Spirit in the future. The excursions and (especially) the guides were very very good. The smaller ports appealed to us and we were very happy with the Virtuoso tour of Kotor. One of the best excursions we have had with Silversea. The outdoor grills were very good but the restaurant food was average. The buffet was good and the lunch service was quite good. Deck service was excellent. Room service was excellent and the housekeeping was excellent. The Silversea connection with the Bauer Palazzo in Venice (2 nights prior to embarkation) was outstanding. Myself and two girlfriends chose this cruise as it had a list of destinations that other cruise lines do not do ... especially being able to go to Kusadasi, Turkey and take a trip to Ephesus. The Spirit also has one of the largest stateroom verandas which can accomodate 3 adults. We were not over cramped, the bathroom large , a bathtub a bonus. I normally travel with Oceania and found that Silversea is comparable. We found the staff very good, our butler Alex was wonderful, we enjoyed being able to have all the tips and liquor included. Being Canadian and our dollar not doing well the price was good . We opted out of their airfare program as we could not fly economy and their upgrade to business class was out of this world. Was not aware of the ballet at time of booking, and not being big ballet fans, we did attend one performance but would not be interested in doing another one. the stage is too small for such performances. Food was good, wish they offered a couple of more restaurants that we did not have to pay extra for. we did take 3 of their shore excursions and found that they were a fair price, but we booked a lot of private ones ( not the private ones offered by the ship) but ones we searched out on the internet and made arrangements ourselves. We found them to be so much better. as we had a car and driver to ourselves and able to maneuver the sights so much easier. Read Less

The ship is really nice. Food was good. Service was very good. We really enjoyed the smaller ship with fewer guests. No crowds, no lines and no drunk rowdy party animals made for a very enjoyable and relaxing on-board experience. The cabin butler was exceptional. Though food was good, you are limited on your dining experience unless you "make reservations" for other restaurants and least 6+ moths in advance. Out of nine nights we were able to get reservations (other than main dining area) for only one night - and we tried 4 months prior to the cruise. Not sure about entertainment, the main show didn't start until 10:00 p.m. By then we were exhausted and went to be to try and sleep (see cabin review). Our daily shore excursions were very good! Some of the best we have ever had. Also, don't let the crews line book your airline tickets. Or, if you do, double check all flight times and connections, then make changes. We had to actually run through two airports in order to make connecting flights. The gate was about to close when we reached one and if the other flight had not been delayed, we would have missed that flight. We like the luxury cruise experience and will probably look at the other luxury lines going forward. Read Less

We had never been to Eastern Europe so when we saw this cruise we were excited. We would have opportunity to visit and get a feel for these countries/ports without having to invest in a long stay at any one port. The ship was a perfect size, easy to traverse. Our Cabin #508 was larger than expected with a very nice balcony. My only minor issue for the whole cruise was that the refrigerator in the room did not get cold enough to chill wine properly. Our butler, as well as every member of the Silver Spirit staff were exceptionally courteous and efficient. We ate at all but Seishin and Pool Grill. The food was exceptional at all. We enjoyed Stars Supper Club the most. The presentation of 3 small plates for each course was inspired, allowing to taste many different selections. Added to that there was a terrific Jazz duo entertaining during the meal. We had dinner at Stars twice, don't miss!! This was a Ballet cruise and 2 star performers from the Bolshoi Ballet performed in the theater on two different nights, with a meet and greet in the bar afterwards. They were very good but I sensed that their performance, as good as it was, was inhibited a little bit by the size of the stage. We didn't attend any other of the evening performances as we were taking tours every day that left early in the morning and we can no longer stay up that late too often -- ha, ha! As a special activity Fernando, the cruise director, gave Greek Made Easy classes every afternoon. These came in handy since we were spending an extra 4 days in Athens. Thank you Fernando! Embarkation and disembarkation went remarkably smooth and easy. Very well organized. We were off the ship, got our baggage, through customs and in a taxi to our hotel within about 15 minutes!!!! Overall it was a very memorable experience and would highly recommend. Read Less

This was our first cruise on Silversea and we were extremely impressed. Our cruising background is limited, only three recent Celebrity cruises and one Norwegian back in 1989. I was a bit worried about prior negative reviews and cannot understand some of the negative commentary. We found the strongest aspect of this cruise to be the food/beverage. In short, everything we were served was wonderful. Once you give yourself in to the multi-course slower pace of dining it makes perfect sense. Highlights were La Terazza and Shen Shen but we loved all the restaurants, including the main dining room. The biggest difference between Silversea and Celebrity, aside from the better food, would be the lack of crowds. There was never a line anywhere on the ship and pool butlers were always available to set up a chair either by the pool or on the deck area. A huge plus. While a bit small due to the size of the ship, the workout area was well appointed an rarely had any more than one other person using a machine. Classes were free and the guy running the gym was very good. Read Less

I'm afraid that Silversea has gone downhill since last I sailed with them on the Silver Spirit. There's a sense that someone somewhere high up has enforced cost cutting and that there's a malaise affecting some, many even, of the staff. The food has nose dived into novelty crockery as a substitute for really good cooking and consequently majors on elaborate concept and presentation at the expense of quality. We ate at all of the on-baord restaurants and sadly, though Seishin was great and Champagne pretty good (apart from the appallingly slow service) things went downhill from there. The Restaurant was reasonable, the Grill depressing and La Terraza too variable (fair lunches, poor dinner). Worst was Stars which, one night was fair and another was - well, there's no polite way of saying it. Overall they need to go back to basics on food: its ambition should be to taste delicious and if it can then tick the boxes contemporary fancy presentation and theme, that's fine. But at the moment the cart is in front of the horse. It was a relief to eat on shore from time to time - and not at fancy places either. Service was often chaotic and sometimes just bad tempered, though many members of staff were excellent. Don't try getting a coffee at breakfast at La Terraza unless you order it quite a while before you go to get your food. Cabins: really nice, spacious, comfortable, great linens and pillows and beds and toiletries, lovely butler. Overall, the luxury is mostly in the 'lifestyle' marketing. The reality is a bit depressing and literally everyone in our large group agreed with this. It isn't the value it used to be and it needs to drop the gimmicks and focus on getting the key things - service and quality of cuisine - right. Read Less

Every couple of years, a group of us (on average 15-20) will take a luxury cruise. It is an opportunity to treat ourselves and to see parts of the world we've never seen. Unfortunately, this year was the year of disappoint for our cruising experience. Everything was difficult -- booking a tour, trying to get help, trying to make reservations at restaurants. Any time we asked for help, the first response was "That's not possible", instead of "I will look into that and try to help you." We even jokingly started calling certain service personnel "Dr. No" because they kept saying "No" to everything. Separately from the service, with very few exceptions the food was mediocre at best, and generally poor most nights in main dining hall. Unfortunately, all of the smaller restaurants were booked or didn't have the capacity to absorb more than a few dozen people (if that). So, we were not able to make alternate arrangements. I would not recommend this cruise or Silversea to anyone unless they change their attitude, the quality of service, the quality of food and update the ship. Read Less

We cruised on Silversea's Spirit from Barcelona to Rome, August 8, 2017 for 9 days. We chose Silversea's because of their sterling reputation for service and they did not let us down, and I commend the Silverseas staff who are professional, warm and engaging. They get to know their guest's quickly -however there were other areas that disappointed us greatly. The ship itself was in good to average shape but starting to show some wear and tear and in need of a re freshening. Our veranda cabin was a nice size and comfortable BUT the restroom had a horrible smell that pretty much ruined our cruise from day one. The staff (both housekeeping and engineering) worked diligently to try and find the cause and correct it, but unfortunately they were never able to. I immediately brought this odor issue to the attention of our butler, his supervisor, engineering, the head of housekeeping and guest relations. I honestly believe it was an embarrassment to them and it should be. We were never offered another cabin or any kind of compensation, which I thought was surprising and disappointing. The service at the dining venues was excellent, the food was good, but I felt like the hours of operation of the restaurants were too rigid. I was also disappointed that for the evening meal there was no type of buffet option like on Seabourn or Oceania. In all fairness they offer room service 24 hours, but that is not what I was looking for. I was not very impressed with the excursions. Most of them tended to be longer than necessary and not much in the way of enrichment. Of the 5 excursions we did, only 2 were truly enjoyable and fun. Next time I cruise it will probably be with Seabourn. Read Less

This was our 5th cruise with Silver Sea (in 5 years). Our second time on Spirit. The best things about this cruise were the condition and cleanliness of the cabins, our butler and room attendant were so accommodating, friendly and professional and the Captain letting us stay longer in Elba to experience the holiday's firework display! The Elba experience really was the highlight of the cruise! As far as the dining experience, the wine selection was great as usual. Dining in the Main Restaurant, Seishin, Le Champagne, Stars, La Terrazza and in-suite dining were excellent. Dinner at the Pool Grill was poor and really needs to be addressed. The steaks and shrimp were very disappointing. Nothing impressive! The shore excursions in Palma, Alghero, Elba and Florence were good to excellent. The local tour guides can make or break the tour experience. I think evaluations by customers should be completed and submitted after every tour to provide Silver Sea with feedback. We did have a "tainted" water event, where the water running from the bathroom sink and in the toilet were discolored. We reported the situation and upon return from our excursion, a note was posted on everyone's door about what happened and what was done to correct. It would've been nice if someone personally came by and spoke to us about it. Our Butler checked in with us, but to us, it should've been someone in charge. For whatever reason, we feel that our experiences on the smaller ships (Wind and Whisper) were much better and really exemplified luxury cruising. It felt cozier, friendlier and the quality of service and food was so much better on the smaller ships. We will take this into consideration when planning our next cruise on Silver Sea. Read Less

Our first cruise, Silversea was recommended by friends. Liked our cabin #751. Good location, roomier than I expected. Good size balcony. Excellent butler. All staff werevery friendly, helpful. Restaurant staff very attentive and accommodating. Excellent breakfast buffet and restaurant menu. Dinner menus monotonous. Should have several daily specials. Room service daily menus should be available all day in all restaurants. After 2:00pm had to order room service if you wanted lunch. Most excursions got back to the ship after 2:00. The entire ship is too air conditioned. I was cold all the time. Broughtclothes for hot Mediterranean weather not cold. Had one sweater with me and wore it all the time. Had to go out on deck or balcony just to get warm. Would like to have a few shows late afternoon or evening, too tired after a full day to stay up until 10:00 for a show, Was looking forward to the casino but there was never anyone there. Don't want to play Blackjack with just the dealer and no one else in the room. There should be more than one washing machine and dryer on each deck. We had to run from one deck to another to do laundry. Fernando, the Cruise Director, was an interesting guy, very friendly, always remembered your name. Thought the train shore excursion on Mallorca was kind of boring. The Old Villages excursion on Ibiza was a waste of money. Total joke. A couple of cafes a bar and a church. Glad we didn't book anything on Sardinia and Elba. Did enjoy the Menorca excursion that excluded cheese tasting. Pisa and Florence excursions very well done. All excursions we took were very organized, guides made sure everyone was accounted for and could find their way back to meeting place at end. The public spaces on ship seemed a little tired and stodgy, need redoing. My husband and I enjoyed most the cruising into and out or ports.Liked sitting on the balcony and watching. For our first cruise I was dissipointed, my husband enjoyed it more than I did. Maybe I'm just not a cruise person. Felt like I was living in a bubble, a safe space. End. Read Less
