The Royal ship is one of the best. Our embarkation went quick and we were in our cabin by noon. Port staff were very helpful and friendly. Once we go onboard the cruise staff were very friendly and helpful. During our whole cruise the staff was very pleasant and happy. The food and entertainment was great! The cabin steward, Edward was so attentive and fulfilled all of our requests. Our balcony room was very clean. Edward helped me out when I needed to stay In the cabin. When he didn’t see me, he would call me to ask me if I was ok. Dining room was good. Our waiter and assistant waiter Milan provided excellent service. Our glasses were always filled and they would ask us if our food was ok. They would make recommendations on the meals, desserts and drinks. Their attentiveness was beyond my expectations. The entertainment was very good. It was very hard to get a seat after our early dining time. There were a couple of shows we missed. The atrium entertainment was fun and enjoyable. Catarina (spelling ?), was great as usually. I was on another ship and she knew how to get the crowd to join in. The shore excursions were good. Princess Cays was my favorite stop. We need more time there. The bus for Grand Turk was quite small and hard to navigate. Our guide was great and very informative on the island . Some of the ports did have assistance from the ship to the bus. I got the medallion net and it was so nice not to have to sign off and on. The speed was great and having unlimited access was wonderful! We also pre-purchased the photo package. Well worth it and not having to pick a couple photos. You got hem all. Cheaper prior to the cruise. Disembarkation was the best. I was not able to walk off the ship due to an ongoing health issue. I was wheelchaired from my cabin out to immigration. From immigration to a cab I had port assistance. It was great! Once I got to the airport same service. Can’t wait until March 23, we’re back on the Royal out of LA to Mexico. Read Less

We chose this Cruise for the itinerary and the "reputation" of the Cruse Line. A lesson in not believing in their own PR! They failed in every aspect of their published standards. Dress Code in main dining venues simply ignored by management (i do not blame the guests) Food was rather Hit & Miss. The constant interruptions as the waiting staff are made to up-sell either drinks or substituting something at a cost, during every course of the meal absolutely spoiling the so-called experience Guest Services - poor. Having pre- booked Flowers, it took three visit over three days to make it happen (flowers done after four days). Tour Concierge, I approached to inquire for some information, as soon as it became clear that I was not booking, she just was not interested. I had to regularly clean the seating on the balcony and wipe down the balustrade, as it became grime from the sea spray (the glass had not been cleaned for weeks) Entertainment was very poor (With the exception of the productions in the Princess theater) the Vista lounge was seldom in use, over the two weeks. Programming (and Menus) repeated on a seven day cycle. Sea Days: The Cafe & restaurants around the Atrium became overcrowded as guests would either remove seats or "move in" for several hours reading books or playing card games!, preventing gusts who actually wished to dine from being seated. Management simply did not discourage this selfish behavior, again I hold the ships management responsible. Disembarkation - they just want you off the ship (in my case 07:50) having booked a shore excursion which would have dropped us at the Airport, bur they canceled the tour. First & Last Time Read Less

We are veterans of eighteen cruises and consider the Royal Princess one of the best. The ship was very elegant and tastefully decorated, not garish like some of the other ships we have sailed on. The cabin was a little tight and the balcony was smaller than we are used to, but the room was comfortable and well maintained. The shower is actually larger than most, which was a pleasant surprise. The main dining rooms are classy and provide lots of room between tables. We thought the menu provided a good selection every night and the food was of highest quality. Princess does not seem to have an efficient system for their waitstaff, as the head waiter for your table also acts as the cocktail server rather than having his assistant handle that job. The assistant always seemed to drift off somewhere and we had to hail him for bread, water, and coffee. Some tables were not turned over quickly and dirty dishes sometimes were left for a little too long. Then the maitre'd ended up bussing the tables. But we were satisfied with the dinners and didn't let the small details bother us. The Horizon Court offered a good selection for breakfast and lunch daily with something for every ethnic group. There are several options for eating on this ship to include a pizza restaurant, burger bar, seafood bar, International Cafe serving sandwiches and deserts, and the high-end extra charge Sabatini's and Crown Grille Steakhouse. The Crown Grille was the highlight of our dining experience on board, having world-class service along with outstanding food. The lounges were classy and comfortable with several located in the Piazza area midships. There was a good variety of entertainment throughout the cruise including Vegas style shows, island music, and a great lounge quartet. The clientel aboard was fairly sophisticated and we didn't see many fall-down drunks in muscle shirts and torn jean shorts . And a minimum of screaming kids due to the fact there are no water slide, bumper cars, or merry-go-rounds. Great vacation! Read Less

We started out our cruise by arriving a day early. We rented a car and stayed at the Pembroke Pines Hampton Inn. Nice hotel. Quiet. Renting a car gave us the opportunity to see the area and do some shopping. We went to the port early. We took a cab from the car rental station. Because we were in a premium suite we were seated in the Elite lounge after a quick check in. There is nothing special about the lounge other than getting coffee juice and muffins. We were one of the first on the boat. We went to the spa to reserve weekly Enclave passes for $150. We then went to the Sanctuary to reserve the three sea days. We were on the ship less than 20 minutes and could not get all three days. Only 2. Our room was ready immediately. It was a one bedroom suite with a living room at the very front of the ship. The bathroom was huge with both a shower and tub. We got a mini bar with liquor, sodas and beer included. We had the new luxury beds and pillows. Amazing. The first night they allow suite guests to go to an up charge restaurant for free. We chose Crown grill as I had already prebooked Sabatini’s for later in the week. The steak and sides were sub par. Below what you would expect from Outback. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. The first day was Princess Cays. I had prebooked the Sanctuary cabana. It is nice because it was air conditioned. We were able to take a break from the heat. We had a $50 picnic delivered by waiters. It included gazpacho, seafood, bbq chicken and ribs, ice cream and cookies. Big enough to feed 4. That night we did club class fining. It is not worth the extra expense. Service was very slow. Over 2.5 hours to finish the meal. The supposed extra dishes were not great. The wait staff was not attentive or friendly. This was true for the 3 days we ate there. The suite breakfasts at Sabatini’s were great every time we went. Free mimosas, nice pastries, hot food. Our dinner at Sabatini’s was remarkable. The baked artichoke is to die for. I also had the chicken Marsala. Fabulous. We ate at Alfredo’s three times. The salads and pizza are very good. Better than many on land. We also at at the coffee shop, the buffet and ice cream shop. All were as expected. The shows were good. An American Idol finalist was on the boat. Great singer. I saw secret silk. The singing was great but the story was not the best. The Sanctuary is a must if you can get in. So relaxing. We also loved the retreat pool. We always were able to get a lounger. There were some hot tub hogs who never got out. We used the Enclave daily and loved the therapy pool. The other stops were St Thomas where we did a tour and it rained in St. Maarten. We just got off and on. I must say that our steward Jeffrey was one of the best that I ever had. The bottom line is that I would sail the Royal Princess again but would not do club class or a suite. We typically sail NCL Haven where suite guests are treated much better and the food in the Haven restaurant is so much better with much more attentive service. Read Less

We arrived the day before into Fort Lauderdale late in the evening. We reserved a hotel nearby that offered shuttles service. WHAT ZOO. Skip shuttles and get an UBER or taxi. We flew southwest and their terminal was so disorganized. NOT a great way to start a vacation. In the morning we decided to take an UBER to the Port. As it turns our the Royal was not in its usual location so we lost 45 minutes in crazy traffic getting to the right place. Once we arrived at the pier things ran so smoothly I was breathless. From exiting the UBER to drinking champagne was less than 45 minutes!! Once on board we rushed up to Deck 17 to reserve our cabanas at the Retreat Pool. We chose this ship because of the private "adults only" areas and the lack of "water park" and kid focused activities. We spent most of our days on Deck 17 at the Retreat Pool and Sanctuary. We reserved a cabana at the retreat pool area on days when we were in port and did not intend to go ashore and the Sanctuary on sea days (sea days can be very windy and in the sanctuary there is wind protection. *IMPORTANT*cabanas and the sanctuary fill up quickly. Once on the ship, go immediately to Deck 17 to the Sanctuary Desk - do not dilly dally- go! Our favorite days on the ship were the days in port when we never got off the ship! This area of the ship is perfect for small business owners like us who work 7 days a week except Thanksgiving and Christmas. On port days this area was nearly empty. So Quiet, Peaceful, Perfect. The two specialty dining areas were great - we regret not reserving more dinners there because the main dining food was hit or miss. Mostly miss..I was surprised. This cruise was 14 days and the second week was essentially a repeat of the week before. This was helpful because we knew which nights to avoid. We met many people at the main dinner tables and I heard many express disappointment in the food. I suggest that Princess list the dinner menus in advance in the Medallion App for the whole cruise so that guests could plan in advance to eat elsewhere on the lackluster days. We did a "wine dinner" and the Lumiere Chef's Table. The food was excellent and abundant, the service was excellent. I highly recommend these two dinners with one big caveat **the wines served at these dinners in no way measured up to the caliber of the food.** To be fair the wine was abundant and every other guest at these events seemed to enjoy the wines - except us. If you are a "wine person" I highly recommend Sabatini's and any special events and tastings that are offered there. They have an amazing list of Super Tuscan wines. We were not impressed with the majority of entertainment with exception of the Comedienne. The first run movies and Movies Under the Stars was perfection. We even experience a rare lunar eclipse while on board. Breakfast Room service was had very limited options. Only "hot" option was an egg sandwich that was awful. The folks in the suite next to us had a balcony breakfast every morning that I envied;( Best Embarkation, Best Cruise, WORST Disembarkation EVER It was such a disaster that its spoiling my great memories of a near perfect vacation. We have booked this same cruise next year, but on the Regal in a cabin on deck 16 forward. Read Less

Wanted to reward myself on my birthday and seven days in the Caribbean fit the bill. Had always been on smaller Princess ships but the Royal made good use of the additional size in the public areas. As my cruise ended, they were completing fitting the ship for Medallion service. My assigned table mates were really interesting people and made dinners an extra fun time. I also like the International Cafe for snacks and casual lunches frequently accompanied by entertainment. The sky walk was shorter than I expected but still made me walk it very cautiously. the swirl cones were as good as ever. The staff was as pleasant and helpful as I expect on Princess ships. I was disappointed that I gained weight on this cruise. Probably a combination of getting older and less exercise and more eating. I slept really well maybe due to their advertised special new mattresses and pillows. An extra fun thing is the paper puzzlers available every day in the library. Read Less

We felt the food quality was down from the last Princess cruise. The one night they had steak, it was not edible. The shows were very crowded! The drink prices were far too expensive! 11.00 for the least expensive glass of wine--ridiculous. We felt the iced tea was not good--it had an odd flavor. Positive note--our cabin steward was very efficient! The casino has a section for smoking, well, that is like have a peeing section in a swimming pool! Way too much smoke! I did feel the shows were very professional and enjoyable. Another positive note, boarding was orderly and fast. Disembarkation was smooth and orderly, however, we returned to a dock blocks away from our departure dock where our car was parked. We were not told the proximity of our arrival location to the departure location. Nor, were we told that transportation was available to return us to our parking location. Read Less

DH and I had an enjoyable week on the Royal Princess. Without going into every detail let me just say this is a beautiful ship. We sailed 2 years ago on the Regal Princess. This ship is virtually a mirror image. We were told although quite new, it had already undergone refurbishing. We had a basic balcony cabin on the Aloha deck-- which we liked. It was a good location for us, comfortable and well-serviced by our cabin Stewart. We did traditional dining in the main dining room and found the food to be good to very good The wait staff was very good and went above and beyond to please. We dined one evening in Sabatini's and liked it very much. The entertainment was good and varied. We especially liked the comedian (Freddie Prince) and singer who had been on American Idol. Ports were fine. Belize was disappointing but Rotan exceeded expectations so one made up for the other. We chose this particular cruise for the ship, the date and the pricing -- not for the ports to be honest. The systems for embarking on and disembarking were coordinated and fast (at least for us). This was our #19 cruise overall, 7th with Princess, and look forward to our next (2020) hopefully to Alaska. Read Less

Having early access due to our status helps in getting on Board and comfortable early. Entertainment is always great. Love the big screen with Movies under the stars. Princess Live and the Princess Theater were nightly stops. Services was a step ahead of our requests. Food was amazing and always something new on the menu provided for regular 5 star meals and surroundings. Ports called on in this cruise were what we wanted to see and had a good mix of downtime on the beaches and upscale shopping Children that were in our group enjoyed the kids club and options available to them Would go again given the theme. Two subsequent trips on Princess have already been booked. Read Less

Average experience. Big beautiful ship. Wish they would monitor the lounge chairs as many with belongings and no people for hours. The entertainment was not as good as we are used to on Princess. Check your accounts for accuracy and if staff says they will take care of a charge double check they did. Wish they had more variety in movies under the stars as they were repeated the second week. Horizon buffet felt more like a cafeteria and the food was below average and predictable. Tables hard to come by. The gym was just redone and is very impressive. We really missed the wrap around promenade deck. Lifeboats and equipment occupy the space instead. We will be giving Celebrity a try next as we don’t feel valued as a customer anymore. The ports of call were nice and we enjoyed them. Loved Alfredo’s. Wished they carried more variety at better price points in the shops. Read Less

I have been on many other cruise lines, but wanted to give Princess a try because of their "higher class reputation". The customer service was awful! We would acknowledge staff with "good morning","hi" etc., and rarely heard any comments back. We would just get an awkward stare back. Hardly saw any staff smiling or speaking with passengers. Ordering drinks from the bar was a horrid experience I felt like we were putting them out with the disgusted looks we would get. Again, I have been other cruise lines and none have compared to the bitterness we saw with the staff on Princess. We felt like we were needing to be congenial to them. One positive thing with the cruise was their food. The two formal nights we were served with high quality food. The chefs do an outstanding job. Management really needs to dig deep and find out why their employees dislike their jobs. You are going to continue losing business because of the lack of positive customer service. I suggest traveling on another cruise line to see what customer service should be like. Read Less

We wanted to get out of the Colorado cold weather and have fun on New Year’s Eve. Chose this cruise as we sailed Princess before and liked the ports. We loved the ship, especially the retreat pool and the entertainment. New Years parties were fantastic. Unfortunately, our interactions with the crew didn’t meet our expectations. Generally the crew from guest services, wait staff, deck attendants, etc ranged from unhappy to annoyed. Rarely did we ever see any crew member even smile (except for the cruise director or the entertainment) This was very surprising. We did not experience this on our previous Princess Cruise. We chose traditional dining so we could get to know our waiter. Unfortunately, the service for dinner was subpar. Again our waiter was generally unhappy and disorganized. We waited for long periods of time to get menus or water. Drink and food delivery was slow also. We did notice other parties with different wait staff had much more positive experiences and faster service. Since Princess automatically charges you with a daily gratuity, we wondered if the staff just stopped trying. We did book another cruise with Princess hoping this cruises poor service was just an anomaly. Read Less

The ships service and amenities were excellent. I can’t say enough about the crews quality and friendliness. The ship and food were outstanding. We took in one show “The Secret Silk”, which was memorably horrible. I won’t knock the performers, but the performance was laughable. Only those on 60’s era LSD could follow the plot with no original music, only Pop from the 1980’s to 2010’s that failed to match what they were attempting to portray. I honesty can’t speak for the entire performance because we bailed before they started singing songs that may have been from Nine Inch Nails. We skipped the beverage package, drank a lot and didn’t come close to what we would have prepaid. We had anytime dining and reservations the New Years dinner filled up quick. They accommodate everyone even seating people well past their standard posted dinner times. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again and planning cruise number two! Read Less

We arrived on a Saturday and when we finally made it to our room we were sorely disappointed that the room looked unkempt. The bed looked like someone just got off it and left it wrinkled and was showing it's age/use or both. The mirror above the desk was filthy and untouched. The carpets were greasy looking and dirty. The bathroom looked clean and we were surprised by that. Balcony railing was dirty and wasn't ready for guests. Balcony chairs had bird droppings on them. Live television has four channels BBC, MSNBC, Fox and CNBC. All are limited in the information they provide. The recorded programs were ample with recorded t.v. and movies. The furnishing were dated, something from the art-deco period. The A/C in our room didn't work. Most days and evenings were hot and muggy and we only got a break late at night. We left the door open and got chewed out for this, they sent someone to adjust the a/c, but it was our last day. Most areas of the ship were hot and muggy, the a/c didn't keep up with the number of people on board the ship. We stopped at Princess Cays for the first stop and I wished we hadn't. Like most cruise lines they all seem to want to drop you off on an island so you can eat dry hamburgers and hot dogs and then get a sun burn. A waste of time, stay on the ship and sleep in. Our first stop was St. Thomas. This island is a typical Caribbean island with nonsensical items that you don't or won't ever need except to give away as gifts at Christmas. The island is one of the more modern islands in the Virgin islands (that's not saying much). We went on a two hour tour around the island in a truck and it's not for the faint-hearted. The tour truck takes you up a steep incline and stops three times so you can shop for more junk. The view at the top was nice. The next stop was St. Marteen and it's not a pleasant experience. The downtown shopping area is filthy, shop keepers are generally greedy and want way too much for the junk they sell. The highlight of the island is to visit the airport where the jet blasts your brains across the water and leaves you deaf for the rest of your life. No I didn't go to the stupid airport to watch unsafe aviation practices. After St. Marteen, you are stuck on board the ship for two days. This is the most boring part of the trip, this cruise itinerary gives you three at sea days so plan for the doldrums of things to do. The sea days were tedious and we wished we had another port of call along the way. It would have been better than two days at sea. This is why we don't opt for cross Atlantic sailings etc. The ships entertainment is amateur at best and you just have to roll with it. It's not going to win any awards, but it kills time. The themes are definitely geared for families with children, which I wish we didn't have to put up with on a cruise. Seems the cruise lines that depart from Florida are filled with kids and they love to ruin your relaxation. The food during the cruise is plentiful, there is a caveat to this. The caveat is that the food is plastic, i.e. without flavor, texture and eye appeal. The bistro was suppose to be the main place for breakfast and lunch but there was too many people that made the place a nightmare to get around. The layout is non-logical, i.e. bread in one salon and the cold cuts in another. Breakfast is a "Where's Waldo" type journey, you have to hunt for fresh eggs and omelets are harder to find. Look for the lines with people holding paper slips, that's the omelet line because you'll never see the omelets. The drink choices are water, water, water, ice tea and coffee and tea. You're lucky if you get orange juice and lemon aid during other parts of the day. Soda water, normally free, is chargeable as with milk. We noticed the ship had a very noticeable shake and it was so bad at times we could see our plates and utensils moving on the table. I had to wonder if the prop shaft was out of true and needed to be repaired it was that bad. We also noticed the lack of sanitation control. Most cruises will have a "soap police" to make sure you are washing your hands or using the hand sanitizer. Not this ship. Only few washed or used sanitizer. Read Less

The room service was nice and cabin was perfectly fine and organised for your perfect vacation. The shore excursion with Princess cruise were expensive than the excursion at port. The same excursion and the same amount of time for activity even though you can find price difference. Also, the photo package with princess cruise is expensive. The photos were not edited by professional, those were original images even though the price for the package is way too much. Also, the photographers pay more attention to the elite and premium members than regular passengers. All formal nights me and my friends felt that discrimination with them. We’ve just left the Royal Princess after spending 2 weeks over Christmas and new year on her. It’s fair to say we’ve had a good time, it’s was not really expensive and I’d probably sail princess again but there were a number of things to worthy of comment. Firstly ( but in no particular order ) The room was described as a “deluxe balcony” but it was too small for the three of us and when the 3rd persons’ bed was rolled out there was only the tiny space in front of the entry door to stand in. The balcony was not accessible at all with the 3rd persons’ bed out. Next We took advantage of the pre pay drinks package At circa $60 a day plus 18% gratuity it never looked cheap but we did it anyway as it was a fixed cost . Sadly it never occurred to me that once they had your money they wouldn’t want to serve you - at all. The package is limited to 15 drinks a day but this should be considered an aspiration as it would take significant perseverance to get served 15 times in the day without being sat constantly on a bar stool from 12 noon. There are simply far too few bar waiters and those there are often seem to struggle with English. The no alcohol package suitable for children does not include bottled water bizarrely - but they can drink all the sugary coke they want... I cannot recommend buying any drink package!! The buffet at lunch time had a monotonous menu of tacos salad and roasted meats-it’s was dull by day 3 The evening buffets were a bit better but some of the theme nights were hard to understand. For example “German” night included Polish sausage Austrian schnitzel and Hungarian goulash. It’s also worth noting that the goulash made another outing on Oriental night. There were way to many passengers and everywhere was packed- the show lounge, the open decks and the dining rooms The tender process was slow and the re-embarkation via tenders was just bad and requires a rethink. It is never acceptable to keep about 1000 passengers waiting for half an hour plus in the baking heat. Princess cays is their private resort and the solution there is shade, fans and misters- not a shorter line ! We, all three of us, got sick on half way through the second week- we clearly caught this on board The dining room waiters were nice enough but their English was minimal. The main courses were typically good but the appetisers were all made a long time in advance and were often not great. The desserts may have been made several days in advance and were usually poor. “Sabetinis” - the extra cost Italian restaurant on deck 5 - was not that great either. Our travel agent kindly bought us this meal on the first night. The food was good but it’s not very Italian. Italian restaurants don’t usually serve short rib or New York strip and while the waiters may struggle with English they don’t usually speak Filipino.... I drank a nice Chilean wine there - they did not sell Chanti and I had a nice creme brûlée for dessert. On New Years Eve we ate at the “Crown Grill” . Again the food was ok but my beef tata was made so long ago it had started to cook on the plate - interestingly it was served with a fried egg - and my steak was nothing special. My son’s filet was good though. We did a few tours and we enjoyed them. The prices are not great but apart from the annoying requests for “tips” at the end they were okay. There was no minister on board for Christmas services but Princess managed to organise a “LGBT” get together most evenings. As my wife says- maybe I expect too much. Read Less

We chose back to back 7 days for Christmas and New Years. The Christmas week was good; however, the 2nd cruise beginning Dec 29 was as if you were on a totally different ship. AND, no one cared. Food in Horizon Court was NEVER close to being hot; however, we overlooked that the first 7 days when there was variety to our liking. However, the food during the 2nd 7 days was generally warmed over from lunch, and typically was not appealing. Lack of healthy food choices so I usually opted for the salad bar. Even the salad bar was lacking compared to other Princess ships and even worst, lettuce the 2nd week consisted almost entirely of ice burg - not acceptable for even a budget cruise line. Choices were repetitive and deserts were almost always the same. We expected the service and food to be similar to Regal; it was not. Neither were the attitudes of the staff. You could never get consistent information from passenger service employees and they lacked follow through. Comedians were the best entertainment offered. Production shows were lacking. Cruise director was non existent except for introducing nightly entertainment. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, he was just rather different than we've experienced on most cruises. Read Less

We chose Princess primarily for the price offered for this cruise as we generally choose a cruise that is going to a new location each time. We have been able to take on average one or two cruises a year for five years and have used four different cruise companies with Princess being used for only the second time. Princess was exceptionally impressive in the area of embarkation and disembarkation. Their food in the buffet area was constantly well above average with good selection up until the last night. The separate pastry section was above average and conveniently located also. The international restaurant in the atrium 5th floor which had pies etc. was an excellent place for a snack and the two pizza locations also set this ship above average. You can see that I like to eat. The glass bottom over hang look out viewing sections on the pool deck was very unique and appreciated by many. Movies at night and constant concerts daily is a great enjoyment that separates Princess from many of the other cruise lines. I do not understand why other cruise lines do not use their pool deck movie screens in this manner. Nightly shows included live bands not recordings and as Captain's Circle Members we were treated to a mini show by the live band and dancers. Unheard of by the other cruise lines we have been on. Princess offers well above average cabin tv programing entertainment which has shows that focus on the subject of exotic cruise ports and locations. Over all Princess impressed and ranks at the top among the eleven cruises we have taken in five years on various cruise lines which include Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity. Read Less

Where to start? First I made arrangements due to dietary requirements as I have gluten intolerance. Get on board and there was no gluten free food except gluten free pizza that was sometimes not bad. Sometimes it was awful. The dining room lectured me about ordering my food the day before even though I had just boarded the ship and gave me very limited options and advised if I did not order the day before they would not have food. The buffet had nothing but really bad gluten free desserts. Princess Cay, besides being a waste of time, had no gluten free food except for fruit. The staff on the Royal Princess was extremely rude. I was scolded every time I asked for gluten free food event though I let them know at the time of booking. i complained about cigarette smoke on our balcony and was lectured by the ships guest relations that I should have known the ships amenities and it was my fault for selecting a room above a smoking area. Over with a few exceptions the ship staff was rude and condescending. It was a long week of putting up with being scolded. Went to the buffet a few minutes before they opened. Food was out and other were helping themselves. My wife had her food yanked out of her had and was yelled at for taking it. Asked for a supervisor who was extremely rude. He then proceeded to grab and squeeze both of us by the shoulder when we asked for his supervisor. There is never an excuse to touch your customers. Now on to the spa. We were celebrating out 15 year anniversary and I decided to schedule a massage for my wife. never did I expect that the massage would leave her in tears and pain. Fist they follow you around the spa and do not give you any privacy. Than she had a awkward massage with no music playing and and the massage was mediocre at best. She let the therapist know she had plantar fasciitis. at the end of the massage she bent her food leading to her yelling in pain and then she informed her the massage was over. She then tried to sell he all sorts of over priced items. When she was leaving the massage in pain and tears my wife let them know she was dissatisfied. There immediate response was that they would let the therapist know she didn't like it. At this point my wife was in tears. A manager came along and actually provided the one of the only resemblance of good customer service that entire week. She listened to my wife apologized and offered her a discount. There are so many instances of poor customer customer service during our week on the Royal Princess. Overall with the exception of our cabin steward, one waitress at the pizza restaurant, the party band and the piano guy, the staff on this ship were terrible. I almost forgot to mention the fitness area fitness area. First it is too small. They charged extra for fitness classes and then tried to sell you overpriced insoles. here is not enough equipment. For example, 5 yoga mats for a ship f over 3000 people. You would think after ripping people off they could afford more yoga mats. I think I own more yoga mats. If you are looking for good food, to be treated with respect and to not be bored out of you mind, go on any other cruise line. We had an awful experience on Princess. I complained to there corporate guest relations who offered me a $150 on board credit and refused to do anything else for us. When I asked for the customer relations manager she told me that i could not talk to anyone above her and any attempt would come right back to her. My advice based on this experience is to read reviews. After our cruise I realized that our experience was a lot more common. I wish i had spent more time researching Princess. I feel ripped off and I enjoyed time with my wife but had a miserable time on the Royal Princess. Read Less

We are a couple in our mid 50’s who choose this cruise as a Christmas present to ourselves. This was our 13th Princess cruise since 2008 and our 2nd time on the Royal Princess. I would rate this cruise experience a 3 to 3.5 out of 5. THE GOOD: Embarkation and disembarkation were fast and efficient. Probably the best we have experienced on any cruise. We left our hotel around 11:30 and were on the ship about 15 minutes after our taxi dropped us off. Leaving the ship was even faster, I don’t think we ever stopped moving until we got into a taxi to go to the airport. If you can take advantage of EZcheck, it is well worth the money. Kudos to the port staff and Princess for making this process run smoothly. We took an upsell to a midship Penthouse Suite. It was our first time in a suite, but won’t be our last if the price is right. We received a large bowl of fruit, canapes, a minibar set up, champagne, a plate of chocolates on each formal night, a free Crown Grill dinner, breakfast daily in Sabatinis, and access to the Concierge Lounge. The only disappointment was the balcony which was long and narrow, but we were aware of this before the cruise so we weren’t surprised by it. We enjoyed all of the on demand movie and tv offerings and never had any issues with internet speed or accessibility. The Concierge Lounge right outside our cabin was very convenient for coffee and snacks and the concierge host was friendly. Service for the most part was excellent. Our room steward, Christian, was one of our best. He was very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. We really enjoyed our conversations with him and would love to see him on a future cruise. The service in the Horizon Court was good, servers immediately came to our table to offer drinks and see if we needed anything. Iryna, the hostess who seated us in the Concerto dining room Club Class area every night was sweet and friendly. It was a pleasure to see her every evening. We enjoyed the majority of our meals. Sea bass in the Crown Grill was excellent and breakfast in Sabatini’s was a real treat. I’ve read complaints about some of the changes in the main dining room menus but it really didn’t bother us too much. If we didn’t completely enjoy our meal in the dining room, we always found something we liked in the Horizon Court. And as always, the Lido deck pizza was great! Pool area was good and we spent the majority of our days there, especially the adult pool. We never had an issue finding sun loungers. THE NOT SO GOOD: Why is it that none of the cabin designers thought to put a small step or something in the showers to enable a woman to shave her legs?? Especially in the nice, large suite showers. You practically have to be a contortionist to accomplish the task. My husband loves to order a bucket of beer (5 for 4 deal) to drink some by the pool and then take the rest to our cabin. The first time he ordered it, he was told they stopped supplying buckets and was given 5 beers to hand carry. Fortunately we had a blue Princess bag with us. The next day he went to the same pool bar and asked for the 5 for 4 beer and was told he had to ask for the bucket deal. What?? You have to ask for the bucket that you will never receive to get the deal. It was ridiculous. Entertainment for the most part was unfortunately a miss for us. We had seen several of the stage shows previously and so didn’t attend them again. The Secret Silk was ok but the music was so loud we couldn’t understand much of the dialog and most of the lyrics sung by the female stars. The comedian made us chuckle a few times, but that was about it. We wish more movies were shown on MUTS (especially during the day). How hard is it to throw on a movie during a port day to entertain people who choose to stay on the ship? Instead they put on Cirque du Soleil which was incredibly boring. We did enjoy a few of the activities they had in the piazza, some of the performances were pretty unique. But, we felt like Princess Live was a big miss. The game shows used to be fun, but there seemed to be very little thought behind them. One of the cruise staff who hosted a game admitted that he’d just thrown it together that afternoon. It showed. Only one game was taped and shown on the cabin tv, and for the first time on one of our Princess cruises, they did not have the Marriage Match Game show. That at least is usually good for some genuine laughs. Although some people seemed to enjoy the sometimes over the top antics of the cruise directors staff, we really didn’t. At times it seemed to be more about indulging their need for attention than entertainment for the paying passengers. The last thing that we found rather bizarre was the behavior of our waitstaff in the Club Class section on the second to the last night of the cruise. I won’t give their names because I don’t want them to get it trouble because their service at the beginning of the week was ok. Between the two of them, they came to our table no less than 10 times to drone on and on about themselves and how they enjoyed serving us. We were barely able to enjoy our meal and carry on a conversation because they kept coming to our table and interrupting us to basically say the same things over and over. It was so blatant that they were trying to make sure we tipped them the following (last) night of the cruise; it was almost embarrassing and bordered on pathetic. They were trying to charm us but instead left us feeling very uncomfortable. This has never happened to us on previous cruises and left us feeling like maybe Princess needs to pay their employees more. We always give an extra tip to our waitstaff, and did this time too, but it really was strange behavior. So all in all, we had a nice time, but it was more from spending time with each other and relaxing in the warm weather than because of anything outstanding from the cruise. Read Less

I chose this cruise as it was a great price for a mini suite and many sea days. I was looking forward to cruising on the aroysl as it was a newer ship. But it doesn’t have the new Medallion system. Internet is old style as well as door entry. Horizon Buffets were larger than other ships but meal choices were just so so. The Crown had a smaller Buffett but much better choices. The worst part was the gym. It was as if they forgot to build it and as an afterthought out it in a walkway hall between two pools. People wer running in and out, leaving the door open. New machines but none had a place in front to out your phone, or device. Every day I had to call to get wipes. Hardly saw the people in charge of gym. - and I go every afternoon. - thy advise you not to shake hands with any and have washing stations in every part of the Buffet. But always out of wipes at the gym. The entertainment was fabulous. And I loved the club 6. Disco. And I’m a senior! Loved the casino staff Read Less

My Son and daughter in-law worked for Princess Cruises in Alaska and tried this cruise line. The Cruise Ship was very clean! Stateroom was clean and service was excellent! The food started out to be above average but during the week at best turned to average. This is not a cruise for Country Western Music or Sports Fans. There was no country music or sports bar. The casino was above average, needed more TV's. Too many customer games and not enough of entertainment. Lacks Sports Bar, No Country Music, All music was very similar from Bar to Bar! Presentation of food other than the International Cafe was average at best. If you enjoy jewelry the ship has it. If you're looking to buy Liquor on the ship, not much there with little or no presentation skills. Cruise Line was always trying to up-charge you for Steak, seafood, etc. Lobster was over cooked and rubbery! Read Less

Wonderful ship and crew... all the amenities without the amusement park. The ships staff and services was a bit overwhelmed the second week which was Christmas but they still tried very hard to accommodate 500 more people than the normal sailing. Entertainment was great and I highly recommend Kori Simon in the Piano bar and Barbi McCulloch and the ships entertainers in the show ENCORE! The Secret Silk show was ambitious as well. Dining was varied and always wonderful and the ships International Cafe and coffees were a great addition. If visiting Roatan I highly recommend going off the regular choices and seek out Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout. It was an amazing tour and the highlight of my trip. Check them out on TripAdvisor and reserve your spot ahead of time. Alexander, the ships cruise director was a pro and his staff kept everything running like clockwork. The casino was a bit hit and miss but that’s why they call it gambling. Overall another great Princess cruise. Can’t go wrong with the Royal or Regal Princess Read Less

Two cruises, back-to-back on the Royal in Dec. 2018, Arrived with a high dust line on edges in state-room. We wipe our staterooms with anti-viral peroxide wipes - NEVER HAVE WE RECOVERED SO MUCH FILTH ESPECIALLY ON THE RETURN AIR GRATE. Bathroom linens have been cheapened for our travel category. Definitely a decline in public restroom service, as paper towel bins regularly overflowed throughout the ship. We had to ask our steward for items that should have been provided. On Christmas voyage Princess gives each child a gift from Santa, On prior Christmas voyages we were impressed by the quality. On this one, the gifts to the kids were falling apart soon after they got them off the "stage." Last year's gift's were available for purchase. Oh, the quality improvements - the theatre stage shows were EXCELLENT. Novel is the presentation of a complete story within a well crafted, well sung, well danced, and well acted performance, The ship's company included a fantastic soprano who should excel wherever she chooses to perform. Also, the Static dance band was fantastic, as was the Crooners performer. Dining services were well handled, open seating on the first, fixed seating on the second. Food quality was among the best that we recall with Princess. Fixed seating was excellent; open dining -- "Why are you here?" at some tables. And, the spa... overpriced and too crowded. On each voyage I purchased the Enclave experience ($149.) There were broken robe hooks in the facility. People brought glass-ware into the facility that could have been a real liability if a glass broke, and people HOGGED facilities with their towels when the were not using them. PRINCESS, YOU NEED TO GET SOME MANAGEMENT CONTROL OVER THE LOTUS SPA FACILITIES - not just profit control, Also, Princess staff did nothing to control "kids" who insisted on running throughout the ship. I WAS ALMOST KNOCKED DOWN BY A BRAT IN A CORRIDOR. If Princess doesn't have that incident on video, I wouldn't feel safe anywhere on the ship. And, the ship felt definitely overcrowded. But with the present Princes CEO, what should we expect. Maybe Princess can find senior management who focus on the the customer's total experience, rather than marketing to attract the customer. After 25 cruises exclusively with Princess, our next is with Viking, expecting better for our $$. If we don't downrate the experience, Princess will see no need to improve. And this cruise was within 2-3 weeks of our 50th wedding anniversary, on file with Princess customer database. No acknowledgment. Do we have to tell the cruise line everything to do?? Another reason for choosing Viking. Read Less

We have only been on a total of 6 cruises (Princess twice, Royal Caribbean twice and Celebrity twice) so we are by no means expert cruisers, but the issues we had with our most recent Princess Cruise will prevent us from EVER cruising with Princess ever again...never! There were so many bad customer service issues I really don't know where to start, so best I start right from the beginning: 1. We are Canadian and our booking was from a Canadian email advertisement priced in Canadian dollar. We book directly with Princess and received a random agent. We received our booking confirmation with all the details including our flights. A few days later (wanting to upgrade and book our seats) I contacted the flight carrier only to find out that our flight confirmation number does not match. We contact Theresa and leave her a message once in the morning and again in the afternoon to no avail so the next day I call her again, this time instead of leaving her another message I press zero to get another agent...guess what...they won't speak with me. As soon as you provide the requested booking #, they said I have to speak with Theresa and puts me back to her voice mail...wow turns out Theresa was sick for 3 days and during that time I am stuck with no assistance! Not sure why the flight reference numbers didn't match but eventually I get the proper number and I book my seats but not after wasting about 2 hours with the various agents, Theresa, Delta, and WestJet…and it was Delta that got me the proper reference number for my WestJet flight from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale…what a waste of time! 2. A week later I receive another email from Princess advertising the Beverage Package but when I went to purchase it, I find out that it was quoted in US dollar...why? They know I am in Canada...everything else up until then was quoted in Canadian dollar...again frustrating but I buy the beverage package for us. 3. I learned that if I pre purchase the Internet Package online prior to the cruise I received a 20 min bonus per 100 min package. So I purchased a 200 min package and get a total of 240 min (40 min bonus). However, when I got on the ship, my Princess App did not show I had a package. After wasting time with the Purser’s office I learn that they provided a credit on my account and I have to waste time to re-buy the closest package I pre-purchased online and then waste more time tracking down the "Data Communication Manager" to ask him to add my bonus minutes...really! What a waste of time yet again! 4. Turns out that the internet was more frustrating than it was worth so by day 3 and 6 minutes of use trying to log into my office emails, I complain. The response from the purser's office..."ok then cancel" to which I said ok please cancel...he says, I have to contact the Data Communications Manager...lol So while I am upset an Officer named Oggie appears. After hearing my story he says he'll take care of the cancellation and committed to calling me to confirm the cancellation. It was late at the time and knowing we were staying up i asked if he could not call us before 10 am the next morning to which he agreed...guess what, at 9 am the phone rings, its the Data Communications Manager and he says, "I understand you want to speak to me". The guy didn’t have any idea and so I have to explain my situation all over again…I was upset but i stayed calm and asked if I could cancel, he says ok but get this…instead of crediting me back the full amount paid, he charged me for the 6 minutes I used...lol OMG really!!! 5. While on the ship, we had to go to the purser's office another 5 times to correct billing errors. We both had a Beverage Package, how is to possible that they charged us for water twice, a beer once and a glass of wine once...5 times on 4 errors because we had to go twice for the beer charge. Once at Princess Cay Island, twice at the buffet restaurant and once even at our dining room. I don't get it. And each time, we had to wait in line and had to speak with a rep who took forever to figure it out...good lord we had a beverage package, how difficult is it to rectify...and why the mistakes to begin with! On one of these occasion, after waiting the rep looks up from her computer and says "WHAT"...not how can i help you etc...she actually said WHAT. My wife almost lost it! 6. Our last evening, I call the front desk to request a wake up call for 6 am…done. Turns out that we were out a little later than expected so I called the front desk to change my wake call time from 6 am to 6:40 am…figured we’ll get a little more sleep but for fear they will make a mistake I decide to cancel my 6 am wake up call 1st…so I did, asked for it to be canceled. After confirming it was canceled I requested a new wake up call for 6:40 am…sounds simple, nope. The phone rings at 6 am, begrudgingly I get up by myself and run upstairs for a quick bite…I come back and now my wife is upset as they called her at 6:40…they left both wake up calls…I just don’t get it. We don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot but this was the worst service we have every experienced. Thank the good lord we went with another couple and met some great people on board. Our room steward was great and most of the staff were fantastic but the food was not nearly as good any of our other cruises. We will never cruise with Princess ever again...I hope this was helpful :) Read Less
