Just went on Adventure of the Seas to Maine and Canada. Just loved this cruise! Aside from the excellent ports-of-call, the ship was also great. Though not a new ship, it was very well maintained. Our accessible room was very spacious, and our stateroom attendant kept it very clean and accommodated all of our requests. We enjoyed the shows, and especially the ice show. We thought that the food was excellent in the main dining room. The service was also excellent, with the wait staff going out of their way to please us. Our one complaint was that there were no excursions offered for individuals in wheelchairs. There were many onboard using wheelchairs and scooters and in all 3 ports, not one accessible tour was offered. RCI needs to do better here and pay more attention to all of its guests. Overall, and excellent cruise and we loved the ship!! Would go on it again. Read Less

This was our second time on the Majesty of the Seas , so we knew what to expect. What we did not expect was 2 FREE days added to the back end of our cruise, Because of hurricane Dorian 2 extra days were added to the back end of our five day cruise, I have to say the the captain was on the P A system sometimes twice a day letting us know that because of the hurricane RCCL would stay out 2 days longer than planned and there would be NO added cost to passengers and Drink packages and internet packages would also be extended at NO extra charge. The only thing I wondered was the room attendants and waitstaff would be shafted on 2 days of gratuities because of our FREE days?? The ship is small and compact with easy access to everything, There are literally No steps so mobility issues are no problem, Food was good and drinks were a bit expensive if you don't have the drink package ($17 for a Mojito at the pool bar) Shows and entertainment were typical for a cruise ship and even the extra days there were production shows and performers. Overall Nice cruise , the only downside was downtime in the cabin the TV was TERRIBLE There were almost NO movies or TV shows , Everything was taped loops and cartoons or sports that most people don't follow. Royal you really need to improve your stateroom entertainment.. Read Less

Just returned today from 7 night Alaskan cruise on Ovation. Reserved a room with a virtual balcony as did my sister and her husband. We both were very happy with the experience of this new technology. Our other sister had a balcony room and that was very nice of course. The first time I cruised to Alaska we had a balcony but it was too cold and windy to enjoy it! This time, however, the weather was very nice and the balcony was great for them. It was so nice to be able to have the balcony views on our virtual balcony though. It worked well and had a night light if you wanted it. The night light in the bathrooms were a nice added touch too. The food was excellent and the service is great. A very nice added service this time was the luggage being checked through straight to the airport from your stateroom! WOW was that great to put your bags out the night before (as usual) and not have to see it again until you pick it up once your at your final destination! THANKS ROYAL CARIBBEAN! The beds were on the firm side and one of my sisters slept on the pull out couch bed and said it was like sleeping on concrete. The entertainment was ok but not spectacular this time. This was a very relaxing cruise for us. We have had exciting and super fun on other trips but this was more low key for us and we felt pampered and well cared for by the very friendly and caring staff. The North Star is great and my sister and her husband loved the I-Fly experience. They waited in line for an hour to ride the bumper cars for 2 or 3 minutes so that wasn't great. The Solarium is very nice and comfortable as it is enclosed in glass so the views are always enjoyable. I was not happy with having to upload our pictures in the registration process so we didn't and that is totally fine. They take your picture there and even my sisters who had already uploaded their photos had their pictures re-taken anyway so I don't know why they even bother you about trying to do it before hand. We went to Seattle 2 days before so we could spend a day at the San Juan Islands which was fantastic! We went on a whale watching trip from Seattle and had a great time doing that and exploring Friday Harbor. You see a lot of whales on the cruise too! We took the Link light rail from the airport and saved a ton of money doing that! We stayed near the Seattle Center so we took the light rail from the airport to the Westlake Station and then took an Uber to the hotel. Light rail is $3.00 for adult ($1.00 for over 65) and the Uber was about 6 dollars. We stayed at the Inn at Queen Anne. Old but clean and a good location and price. One of my sisters needed to rent a scooter and that was available for $200.00 for the entire time. (she has difficulty walking) It's too big to keep in the room so you have to have the attendant park it elsewhere at night which they are happy to do. Read Less

We just got off this excellent ship after a six day cruise. Both my husband and I have physical limitations, he used a scooter the entire time, and I used a cane. This was the first cruise I can remember where when you went to get on the elevators, people held the door for you, stepped off to let you on, and helped you in ever way they could. No pushing and rushing in front of you to get on! A much different attitude. In the Windjammer, people were polite, and the crew always tried to help you in carrying your food to your table, and then even once you were seated they came over to see it they could go and get you anything. I can't remember a nicer, caring crew. When I spoke to one of the supervisors about the attitude, he told me that because it is a small ship, the crew is like family and like working together. You could tell! Yes, the cabins are small and do not have a lot of storage. Lacked a refrigerator,but would supply ice if you asked. There were a lot of hangers in the cabinet, but wished there were more drawers, also the handles to open the drawers were on the bottom, so in order to open the bottom drawer, the handle was on the floor. The bed was very hard, and was a problem after a couple of days. The bathroom was small, and the shower was the smallest ever, but the shower curtain was heaver so it did not stick to you. The entertainment was good, a nice variety with two comics, a magician, and one night of a variety show of dancers and singers. i did like that Royal Caribbean on this ship did not hound you to buy things. In fact there was never any announcement of BINGO, the only thing was a listing in the activity paper, also there are NO Art auctions! We cant wait to go back on this ship, and would book the same cabin, we were on the 4th floor, right at the elevators, but did not hear much noise. Also the only time I smelled anything smelly, was when we had to go out on deck six for the life boat drill. and then there was a sewerage smell. Read Less

Our family of 6 adults were very pleased with our cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas. First, in terms of any negativity I would acknowledge our cabin and some areas of the ship are a bit basic and jaded in appearance. The Windjammer can be very hectic and a little difficult to get seating but with patience and perseverance an enjoyable meal can be had. Very harsh, expensive and unfair that all persons in each cabin are obliged to purchase the same drink package. Overall though we were very satisfied with our choice of ship/cruise and had a marvellous holiday. Main Compliments; Standard of service; Excellent in all areas of the ship. The many staff we encountered were amazing. Restaurants - Quality of food and service exceptional. We opted for My Time dining in the evening in the main restaurant and this suited our needs and daily plans extremely well. We had the experience of being served at two different tables and at both the service was excellent. Mostly we were at a table being served by Eddie and Samson. These gents could not be bettered. Professional, humourous and friendly. Deck 9 Pool Area - great atmosphere and staff excellent. Entertainment- Very good. Some great shows in the theatre. Listening though to Alfonso play piano and tell jokes in the Schooner bar was our main choice most evenings. The mostly all girls band from the Philippines were also fabulous. Read Less

We booked this cruise (for my mother and me) about three weeks prior to embarkation, leaving few cabin options. We ended up in an ocean view balcony cabin, which would not have been my first choice (I usually book a Junior Suite), but it was fine -- more on that later. Embarkation was surprisingly smooth. I use a wheelchair, which always complicates matters. But we went through security quickly, then, having checked in online, the rest of the process was quick. I made my way to the area where the scooters were, and was given the option of leaving my wheelchair at the port and just taking the scooter onto the ship. This made a lot of sense (space being at a premium on board), and my mother and I boarded within a few minutes. No one took our photograph at embarkation, setting up a pattern on voyage. We boarded hand luggage in tow, and headed for the Windjammer, where we proceeded to have lunch. As per usual on embarkation day, the Windjammer was packed. As per usual for the Windjammer, lunch was uninspired. Service was good. After lunch, we made our way to our cabin (7592), and proceeded to unpack. Now, let me explain something. I packed a (European) carry-on sized Samsonite and a personal item. My mother went old-school cruise, packing what she calls a "medium" suitcase (bigger than my large suitcase) and her carry-on suitcase (larger than my carry-on). Somehow, she still complains about my packing style, because I, "Carry too much." Anyhow . . . I placed my packing cubes into a drawer in the cabin, and my formal night dresses (knit) I placed into one of the closets. I was unpacked, basically. My mother's unpacking was much more complicated, and her suitcase took up quite a bit of room in the cabin, especially given how much room the scooter took up. There was no room under the bed. Sigh. The balcony had bits of food that had not been cleaned up from a prior occupant still lying about. As to dining: We went to Chops, Izumi, and 150 Central Park (we had the 3 night specialty dining package). Chops was very good, as usual. The food was very good, as was the service. It is a solid choice (if you are a steak lover). At Izumi, we went to the sushi side. The food is excellent (obviously, you have to like sushi). However, service is on the slow side. The emphasis here seems to be on the hibachi side, and the sushi restaurant gets shortchanged. This is a real shame. They simply don't have the staff for the number of guests coming in. We had to wait to make a reservation. We had to wait (a remarkably long time) to be seated. The wait time for our food was unacceptably long (we ended up missing a reservation for a show that night). In contrast, 150 Central Park was a delight. Excellent food. Excellent service. The highlight of our cruise. I am still salivating over the pumpkin bisque. The MDR (American Icon for us) was kind of a mess this time (this was our second time on HOTS, FWIW). Very long lines in spite of reservations for dining, every single night. Disorganized waitstaff that often seemed to take exceedingly long to fulfill simple orders for things like soda and sparkling water. We missed reservations to another show due to slow service in the MDR. The Windjammer was terrible. I just will never understand. So much food there, and so much of it cold when it is supposed to be hot, completely unappetizing, and just . . . blech! One day, in despair, I asked for a cheeseburger. One of the gentlemen behind the counter rather dismissively told me there were the burgers, then pointed to the squares of cheese product. Fine. I made myself a cheeseburger. Arrived at my table, and found. that the burger, which had been sitting under heating lamps, was somehow cold and greasy. I set it aside after one bite. End of meal. We were disappointed to find that little things had changed, too: If you were dining in a specialty restaurant, there were no photographers to take your picture. The Shrek and Madagascar characters who had roamed the ship are no longer around. Bingo (one of my mother's favorite activities) was sometimes in the afternoon (yay!) sometimes late at night (making it unlikely that my mother, a senior citizen and avid bingo enthusiast, would partake). Our cabin attendant was terrific -- he went above and beyond, every day. Both my mother and I had our hair done at the spa by different people, and both of us had good experiences. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and had fun. However, it sometimes felt like the ship was understaffed. Read Less

This was an absolutely great Cruise June 14-17.I rented 2 Rooms,one a Junior Suite and down the hall a Oceanside Balcony Room.It was my Daughters Graduation Present and I had 2 Boys,my Nephews with us bot 10 and 11.CoCoCay was fabulous,everyone was extremely friendly and accomodating,the several Restaurants were great as well as the Service Staff.I did not buy a Pass but was able to go in to the Park area at 12 PM Noon as the Attendent allowed me to (Im totally disabled so couldnt utilize the great facility)The Beach was fabulous,clean and new chairs,chaise Lounges etc and Lockers for the Family. The Food was plenty and great quality,no problems getting a second helping in the gorgeous Tri Level Dining Room,saw the Show "Showgirls" spectacular,reminded me of Vegas,didnt get to the Ice Rink.My Daughter and Boyfriend used the Specialty Dining Rooms and it was crazy amount of food they got from Sushi to Prime Rib.Just a few glitches and here they are. The Cabins (both on the 9th Deck) were warm and couldnt cool them as we would like. Ordered 2 gifts (Octypus and Blanket) to bein the Suite when we arrived,only one was there,after spending sometime in line at Customer Service I still didnt receive it until around 6 PM and spoke to someone and it finally was delivered. The Auto Tipping I had removed and tipped accordingly,the Staff did better this way with me. I wouldnt buy the Soft Drink Package as its a $$ Maker,theres Free Drinks and Water all aboard the Ship and carryng these 32oz Cups was a pain.other than these few quirks and a Royal Caribbean Gold Member it was a great time all around.The Dining Room gets 5 Stars,the Open Dining was great,same table each night and the food was 5 Stars. I chose this ship for a family cruise (10 people) because I had been on other Royal Caribbean ships. The door to the handicapped accessible cabin was automatic if you were able to put your key card over the reader an turn the handle. In order to exit the room I was told to push a mechanism over the door. This was an impossibility while seated on a scooter n On other Royal. Caribbean ships I had found stand alone handicapped restrooms that someone could enter to assist me. On this ship I found the accessible restrooms in the back of the regular restroom. The location made it difficult to enter and leave while riding a scooter. The main dining room was very crowded. The chairs on each side of the table were either touching a wall or the back of the chairs at the next table. My husband had to climb into his chair because it backed into a post and couldn’t be moved. Our waiter and his helper did a wonderful job despite the fact they had a difficult time serving us. We told them we were family and didn’t mind passing food. As far as Coco Cay was concerned I found it very handicapped unfriendly. There were few concrete paths and most things were located on the sand. I could not go to the little shops because they were in the sand. I got food at the barbecue place and then could not sit at a table because they were all on the sand. There were few places with shade that did not have be gotten to by walking in the sand. The photographers took many pictures and in them they wanted us to give the thumbs up sign. I really wanted to give a thumbs down sign but did not do so because I knew they were only doing what they had been told to do. We found the ship very noisy. The only way we could attend the shows was by wearing earplugs. It was impossible to have a conversation in most of the lounges because the noise level was very high. Many activities occurred on deck five and many times it was impossible to get through on a scooter. People would be texting or walking backwards. When I saw them heading toward me I would stop. When they ran into me they would be very rude and blame me. I am sorry to say that the asymphony of the Seas was a great disappointment. Read Less

We sailed on the Oasis of the Seas on 30th June for a 7 night Med cruise, calling at Palma, Marseilles, La Spezia, Rome, and Naples. Boarding was in Barcelona and the ship is so large that it boards over two terminals. We were allocated terminal C and after dropping off our cases we were on board the ship in less than 30 minutes from arriving at the terminal. Upon boarding, we were greeted with a glass of bubbly, which was a nice touch. As we were in an Aqua Suite, we headed up to the suite lounge, which is a calm oasis away from the hustle and bustle of boarding day. In the suite lounge, we were able to book a couple of shore excursions and signed up for a 3-night specialty dining package. One benefit of being in a suite is the use of the suite lounge which is open all day for snacks, drinks and table service in the Coastal Kitchen Restaurant which is incorporated into the lounge. We ate lunch in the Coastal Kitchen, which was delicious and then headed to our Aqua Suite no 14330. This was a very nice suite with a separate lounge and dining room and a bathroom with a full-sized bathtub. The balcony was split and to be honest I would have preferred one of the lower Aqua Suits with a wrap-around balcony. We did have some issues with a leak in our cabin, but the housekeeping and maintenance teams sorted that out very professionally. During the week the temperatures were very high, mainly around 30 degrees so it was quite tiring to walk anywhere off the ship. We stayed on board during the first two ports and enjoyed the ship. There is so much to see and do onboard, one review would not do it justice. Day 3 we took a tour which involved taking a ferry to a very picturesque island, the ferry took around half an hour to cross the bay but the walk from the ship to the ferry took longer, not an excursion for anyone with any walking difficulties. Next day we did an olive tasting tour, this I would highly recommend. A beautiful scenic drive through Tuscany and a visit to a farmhouse once owned by the brother of Napoleon, which today is an olive farm. At the last port of call, Naples, we walked off and not far from the port found a really nice restaurant and ate authentic Napali Pizza, just 4 Euro each for a large pizza. Whilst onboard there is so much entertainment going on, from Aqua SHows, Ice SHows, West End Style Theatre Shows, comedians and musicians as wella s Karaoke for those who like to entertain themselves. There are seven neighborhoods onboard the Oasis but we really liked Central Park and The Boardwalk. There is a vast choice of where to eat on board. You have of course Coastal Kitchen for Suite guests and the Windjammer buffet-style Restaurant, then for snacks, you have the Boardwalk Hot Dog Stand, Sorrentos Pizzaria, The Park Cafe and for Tapas you have Vintages Wine Bar. For dinner, you can choose the main dining room or plump for a specialty restaurant. You can choose from Izumi Japanese, Sabor Mexican, Choppes Grill Steakhouse, Giovanni's Table Italian or our favorite the 150 Central Park Bistro. All of these come with a supplement, but if you purchase a dining package you can get a good discount on the cover charges. I would have to say that the food on this cruise was about the best we have experienced on a cruise ship and the staff and service from every member of staff without exception was fantastic. We had the opportunity to meet the Captain and The Hotel Director and the ship, crew, food, and facilities are a credit to them. We live in Florida so we didnt explore the port town. The process getting on board was normal and smooth. The staff on board were pleasant but it wasn't as lively as other Royal cruises I've been on. The hallways to room had a mildew smell that seem to come and go through out the cruise. We were on level 5 which seemed to be perfect location to everything and not too bad to take stairs if elevators were busy. There were few options for food outside of dining times. The windjammer had very little hot food and seemed to always have leftovers from main dining the night before ( cold squid, shirmp, scallops and whole fish eyes and all!) YUCK!!! Also the variety was terrible. With the exception of the pizza place the other places had the same exact food. The water was pretty good but the tea had a funky taste and the coffee was like drinking oil. I love strong coffee but you could add enough creamer or sweetener! Absolutely the worst food! The last shows were ok but the last one was the only one we thought was a good job. Maybe they were new together but there was a ton of technical difficulties. The band was impressive but the shows were just not that good compared to other cruises. Also I would have bought more photos if the photographers would have taken time to say hey your bra strap is hanging out or your necklace was sideways. I was really looking forward to a good photo of our family. :-( Also the drinks were so stinking weak!!! 2 drinks was 25.00. It just blows me away I could spend 75.00 and not even get tipsy and I'm an occational drinker! The rest of the cruise was typical with funny game shows, and contest. I liked that smoking wasn't allowed everywhere. I only smelled it when I went to the bar by the casino. The kids club was my favorite part. My Daughter loved the teacher Ms Salsa! My daughter has TYPE 1 diabetes and I was concerned it would be a problem but they didn't seemed phased by it. They took instruction called us with any questions, gave us a beeper and only charged 7.00 per hour if she stayed later. She had so much fun she begged us to go! We could pick up any phone around the ship and check on her. Absolutely our favorite part. I will probably never go on this ship again. It just wasn't that good. Read Less

Great trip! We were worried about sailing on a mega ship but we were pleasantly surprised. The only time we had issues with crowds were during evening dinner hours. The elevators were extremely busy during this time but we had to wait due to one member of our party using a scooter. We enjoyed the food in Windjammer, American Icon dining room, Small Bites, and Johnny Rockets. There were plenty of activities for children on board. My 6 year old had lots of fun on the abyss, mini-golf course, rock climbing wall, and carousel. He was disappointed that he was not talk enough for the water slides. Cocay was a fun stop for the kids. The water park was great and we also had fun snorkeling. We took a private handicapped accessible island tour on St. Thomas and a snorkeling excursion on St. Martin. Harmony of the Seas is a great ship and we can't wait until we can cruise again. Read Less

Cruised with 27 others. Had family, friends and Niece and Nephew 17&18. HOTS june 2019. We all felt the free food was excellent except for Solarium poor service & food. I reserved two times for free dinner every night, Solarium 6pm and then also My Time Dining 8:30 since we had no idea of show times & did not want to miss since dinner service is alloted 2 HOURS every night. The room attendants and food staff that we saw or spoke were almost all exceptional. There is an 18% tip already paid, we paid an extra 10 to 15% on top and could charge to our room. RC constantly nickel and dimed during the entire pre cruise, items that stated would be included were not get everything email led to you if they tell you something. Voom almost NEVER worked, no way to communicate with rest of our group, RC should atleast put dry erase boards on doors so we could tell everyone where wewent and in four hours where we will be. Print out your entire daily planner, to prove what you paid for and time you scheduld since their app hardly worked. I had to fight to get 1-arcade $ back, since card did not work( had already worked with attendant night before), 2- $ back from cancelled port RC excursion, 3- proof of dinner reservation # reserved and time 4-i have limited mobility and diarrhea was noted on my reservation and RC could not confirm where the $1200 Chill Island Cabana i paid for was..of course 2nd in line on Day one excursion CS had my reserved cabana the farthest last one as far away from bathrooms as possible to walk in 4 inch sand THANKS RC for working with me . 4- got $ back on voom since down so many days. 5- got $ money off cabana since items that should have been included were not - combination locking lid, speaker, usb outlet all none Existant. 6- Got bottle of wine since CS sold me personal Flowrider for my Fam of 3 (my Ipad blocked some drop downs for some reason and i never could read the excursion notes) but not the personal whole hour one on one, was only personal with 12 other guests. 7- RC sponsored excursion start time changed weeks ago, noth Ng noted on my stuff, noone informed us i guess they dont know how to pick up phone or knock on door but willing to interupt my meal to ask me to change my dinner time to 9pm for the remainder of the cruise. Oh the biggy, the weather was crummy, the second largest ship in the world swayed all day and night the first 3 days - in bed, during day, durring dinner, on top deck on bottom deck while walking, everywhere. It was not killer, but i have vertigo so it affected me more than others, but everyone was talking about it. Cool to watch the water swaying out of the pools though. So when it rains no Flowrider, mini golf, rockclimbing or ofcourse pool..could use hot tub since under cover. Since voom did not work, dinner reservation for everyone went out the porthole, first three nights instead of 2 hrs, took an extra 30 to 45/min to seat, so turned into 3 HOURS for dinner. Which dominoed into evening events , that were cancelled. Bummer again. Ps RC luggage tags are competely different, confirm size and shape before buying the cutesie tags. We had an okay time, expectations were high, being let down could have been avoided. Check out Rcblog to get good tips. Read Less

This cruise was not luxurious, enjoyable, or accommodating after working hard all year to pay to have a week of relaxation and a good time. A list of things that need serious improvement: • The food - The meals on this ship were less than sub par. I was highly disappointed in the options and the execution of the food. I can cook better than these supposedly trained chefs. I can promise you, the lasagna tasted exactly like Chef Boyardee right out of a can. Every vegetable served on the plate were essentially raw. The portions were never the same, even for guests sitting at the same table. The food was always cold. I always felt like it had sat out for some time before being served. The buffet was the best option for breakfast and lunch—there was better variety and the food was actually decent. On lobster night, a couple of members in my group decided they wanted an entire lobster and were willing to spend the additional $30. The lobster came out with nothing but the carrcus and a small bit of meat on the plate. The lobster tails had more meat in them. It was a waste of $30. • Cleanliness - Oh my goodness. The cleanliness on this ship needs to be investigated. On multiple occasions, dishes were dirty: lipstick on water glasses, the previous day's meal on silverware, pulp dried in water glasses...etc. One of my family members ended up with a virus from the unclean utensils and dishes. Also, the public bathrooms were not kept clean. • Sugar free dessert options - while the desserts were decent, when eating in the dining room for dinner, there was only one option for those with dietary restrictions compared to multiple options for those without dietary restrictions. Some of the sugar free desserts at dinner were just practically inedible. • Technology - There was no app available for large groups to communicate through. The option available was to spend approximately $15 per person/per day. There is absolutely no way I was going to pay for that. Read Less

Background information: My husband and I are in our 80s, and I use a small mobility scooter to help me get around. This was a cruise to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary with our four children. This was Bob's 19th cruise and my 30th cruise overall. It was his fifth and my sixth cruise on Royal Caribbean. We booked this cruise everyone could get off work on those dates and because it went out of Baltimore to Bermuda, and we always love to go to Bermuda. None of our children had seen much of Bermuda, so it was pretty new to them, and two of them had never been on a cruise before. Embarkation - One daughter came a day early and stayed an inner harbor hotel. She Ubered to the port. One daughter was driven by her husband. The third daughter's family flew in and stayed in a hotel near the airport. Our son drove up from SC and stayed in the same hotel. He took them all to the ship. Bob and I drove up from southern Maryland and arrived at the cruise terminal about 11. Check in was pretty quick. But we could not get into the room until 1:00 and the dining room was not open which meant everyone had to eat lunch in the Windjammer with all their luggage. This was NOT a good experience. I was supposed to have on-board credit, and it was never added to my account I thought the muster drill was kind of sketchy. They held it out on the deck (which meant that only about one in eight people could see because most people were behind another person). It was outside even for the people in wheelchairs, walkers and scooters. Unlike some ships who do the muster drills for the mobility challenged inside. Some people have a problem standing for that period of time. Ship: We have sailed on this ship before and it is a nice smaller ship, although it is quite noisy. There is always loud music in the atrium. One of the girls did the climbing wall and that was fun. There was a group on board and some of their meetings would close the Solarium or other venues. Two of the elevators were out of service for the entire cruise. The internet was the worst I have ever had on a ship. I could not post any photos because it was too slow. I could not even play a game of solitaire without having to turn the modem back on and log on again. We wanted to play dominoes and could not find a table anywhere that was big enough. Activities: There were scavenger hunts. We did trivia and had a good time with that. They had Harry Potter Trivia, Friends Trivia, and Pub Trivia in addition to regular general trivia. There was also Pictionary. Some of the group did Karaoke, and that was fun. My son-in-law tried to play Bingo, but he missed marking one of the numbers and then when he marked it and had Bingo, they said it didn't count because he didn't have the last number called. The Family Feud game was very poorly done. We didn't go to any shows and those of us that did weren't very impressed. Service was good. Our children commented that the bar service was particularly good (they had the drinks package) Our cabin steward did a good job and kept the cabin clean. We had a group photo that were taken on the first night. I decided that one of the group was good and we should get one for everyone. Everyone was good except one daughter who had her eyes closed in one of them. So I ordered four of the good one and one of the one with her eyes closed. They put that we should come and get the photos at 8 the next night and they were closed then. When we actually got the photos, they had done it the wrong way. 4 with her eyes closed and one with her eyes open. Dining: The Windjammer buffet was absolutely not an option for me. The labels were over my head and I could not see them from the scooter and I could not reach some of the food. Occasionally someone would offer to help me, but usually I had to get my husband to get me food. There were some times when it was not possible to get any food. For example, earlier than 6:30 am, or between breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer. They did a good job with the various allergies in our group (gluten, peanuts, lactose). In the main dining room, we had a nice round table for all of us on the first night (My Time Dining). We went to Chops the second night, and we were never able to get that good table again. We would get to the dining room as it opened and there was already someone seated at that table. Instead we had to have a long table which meant that we couldn't really talk to the people on the ends of the table. We mostly ate breakfast and lunch in the Great Gatsby. I like the chopped salad at lunch, and one afternoon, Bob had just shrimp and ice cream. The dinner at Chops was good - they did the sides family style. Port & shore excursions: I did not take any excursions because I have been to Bermuda eight times previously and I had booked a private guide. It was absolutely ridiculous to keep people not on excursions from getting off immediately. My children liked the Hidden Gems Tour and the Crystal Caves Tour, and one of them (who brought her bicycle) did some of the Railway Trail. Disembarkation: Very quick and easy Summary: We were able to do a lot of family activities and we had fun together. Bermuda was, as always, beautiful but our time there was too short. To put it mildly.....We really need a vacation after this Cruise! We ~hesitantly booked this Alaskan Glacier cruise with 7 other family members from around the US. This was to be a true "Bucket-List Cruise". There were 3 Seniors with our party..one of them a "Diamond RC" member. We aren't typically cruise people, but we wanted to participate with this one for the aging members of the family. We are Luxury Vacationers and Platinum Marriott Members. We enjoy fine food, fine wine and luxury amenities. Yes, the Ovation is a sparkly new ship. The balcony stateroom was adequate, the staff were quite nice. That's all the positive energy I can put into this review. The biggest disappointment..BY FAR...was that THIS Alaskan Cruise did not get to see the glacier we had on the itinerary...This ship is TOO BIG to get to the glacier!! So I'll bet no one will ever see the glacier if you take this ship! The 3 other ships that sailed with us all went to the glacier. Also, the same cruise the week ahead of us didn't go to the glacier either. Safety aside..this was THE hallmark of the trip. If they couldn't do it, they should've told us ahead of time. Right off the bat, they want your individual picture! Not because it's " A time to Remember" ...it's all about facial recognition. Don't believe it's true? Think again! For beginners, the embarkation was total chaos, stress and disorganization from Seattle. The seniors were exhausted and so were we. The dining experience.... Some of our family were staying in Junior Suites...They ate at a separate dining room every night. We were not allowed to attend that dining room. So unless we wanted to pay the upcharge for a specialty dining venue we never ate dinner together....NOT ONCE! So we did lunch together instead. Here is where we ate our meals and our thoughts on the experience.... Where ARE the fantastic Buffets? The ice sculptures? The shrimp towers? The chocolate fountains? Not on this ship! None of it.... We ordered coffee/Juice & danish from room service each morning..free with a tip. OK Windjammer is like a hospital cafeteria. Food was Eh... Cafe Two70 another hospital cafeteria. Food was Eh... Cafe Promenade 24hr coffee/ stale pastry & Sandwich shop is the size of a kiosk at the mall. Nothing special here. Chic MDR dining where we ate dinner was ok, staff was very attentive. Average food, nothing special, didn't leave hungry. Solarium Bistro Breakfast to order was a hidden gem in the mornings and decent. Solarium Bistro Dinner...not that great. Eh... Lunch in the The Grand was ok, good place to gather if you are with a group. The smoking/vaping sections of the ship. If you are a smoker, vaper or enjoy a cigar...Beware! There are only 3 places on ship to indulge in your stress-reducing cigarette. #1 The 5th Floor patio near Vintages Wine bar- the quietest place and most difficult place to find (but closed many times for cleaning?, without any cleaning going on?) #2 The 14th Floor open air hallway between the Solarium and Splashaway Bay. This is quite a hike from most staterooms. Not a favorite place to go. #3 The back left section of Casino Royale if you want to be out of the weather & wind. Another not-so-favorite place to go, but nice at 6:30 am if you'd like a little peace & quiet. Night time activities were mediocre at best. We usually ended up in the Music Hall for a silly game or two and some music...not as good as my local bar. Schooners had some nice piano music. We never did see any of the shows. They were booked up from day #1. We did the Skagway train excursion, which was nice. We booked that several months in advance. The " Refreshment package" was expensive, but covered all of our bottled water & Virgin Mary drinks & Mocktails. We also used it for other mixers because we purchased a few "Royal Gift" packages of Absolute Vodka for our room so we could mix our own drinks. We also brought on 2 bottles of wine from port on embarkation day. The others with us hardly got their money's worth from the alcohol packages they spent almost $1,000 on. Most of the bars were closed during days in port. FYI... The PUSH to SPEND MORE ! OMG!!! The constant push to spend more money blew my mind! As if you haven't spent ENOUGH already!!!! Every activity is put in place to help you spend more money. From the "Smokey-Eye" Demo (to purchase Urban Decay Makeup Pallets) to the Seminars. They want you spending..spending...spending! Even the TV stations...non-existent so you are out spending instead of watching tv. VOOM Experience..=...DOOM Experience...need I say more...totally NOT worth it. Even in an emergency. Formal nights....FWIW what is the point? Nothing special...No fancy dinners here or reduced drink prices...Just more opportunity for pictures to sell you later. The Captains Reception....Hahahaha....reception? I though most receptions came with a drink and a small bite? My mistake. Ports..Interesting tourist traps...bought a few things, saw a few things, drank a beer, ate a lunch....maybe did an excursion....got back on ship This is just the tip of the iceburg...haha..But you've got the idea. Perspective...If you're a cruiser, you'll always be a cruiser...it's your thing. No offense, but I just don't see how this is a relaxing or pampering way to vacation. I would not classify this as a Luxury Cruise. When the bills roll in and begin to hover near the $8,000 mark and we have nothing special to say about this vacation, that's just sad. I can put a much better vacation together with 1/4 of the money we spent and say.."I have had a vacation"...Ahhhhh. Read Less

Embarkation wasn’t bad. Wife had wheel chair assistance. The problem we ran into was that there wasn’t a dedicated lane for wheel chairs to board the ship so the limited number of pushers they had got stuck in long lines on the gangway. They need to have dedicated ramp for handicap. The ship is beautiful. Loved the solarium the best. Seeing alaska scenery from pool / jacuzzi was nice. The cabin was13642 a jr suite. It was spacious and perfect for a scooter. Located under coastal kitchen but not a lot of noise. The dual bathrooms were a nice touch. Bumper cars was fun roller skating would have been fun if I could find right size safety equipment. Silent Hush party great. Pixels was great. Love and marriage was hilarious. The illusionist / comedian was good. Would have like to see him do some tricks that weren’t table tricks. Service was excellent. Did not notice any over pushy sales reps. Food was warm and good despite being a little bland. There was some confusion on the 2nd formal night as the cruise schedule had smart casual incorrectly marked. Soft serve ice cream was served by an attendant on the pool deck only on some days and only during afternoon hours / not 24 hours. Would like to have seen a candy shop on the main floors. One other negative was the windjammer only open 6;30 -10 for breakfast and 12;00-3;00 for lunch and 6;00 till 9;00 for dinner. Would have liked to see longer hours. Also when it was closed no one could enter the area and sit at tables, enjoy scenery, access coke free style. You had to go to hot dog truck or pizza shop during closed hours to get coke free style. Wish we could have made it to see Dawes glacier. Train in Skagway was a highlight for us. Loved it. North Star was neat. Casino was nice environment. Also seen whales on at least 4 occasions from the ship and got video from our balcony. Read Less

We took the train from North Carolina the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across from the Casino. The hotel was clean but unremarkable. We were pleasantly surprised to see others who would be sailing with us there along with at least one Pinnacle couple. The shuttle from the hotel was already full for the early times so we decided to Uber it over. Less than $20 with tip. As we were arriving some of the folks from the previous sailing were still milling about and looking for their rides. The site did not have a lot of signs and we had to carry our checked luggage over to trams to be loaded. Since we were so early, we grabbed a bench outside and less than 15 minutes later someone got us and we went through security and to the check-in process. Mostly painless, but the brace on my wife's leg seemed to puzzle the security people. Still, we were one of the first checked in and shown the suite lounge. In the lounge, we were joined by some others including a nice couple cruising by themselves without their kids and family. Hi Tim and Tracy! We joked about the "difficulties" of getting to the port but agreed this was a smooth process. After about 15 minutes, they came and got us. As I mentioned, my wife had a knee brace from a broken leg and we got to enter the ship from deck 1 and not have to use the gangway. A nice option for those with mobility issues. At 10:03 we were on the pool deck and heading for the bar. We had the deluxe beverage package and wasted no time using it. It was a bit of a splurge, but we checked prices and got a great deal. In my opinion, the package is great because it offers you the ability to not worry about getting a drink. We waited for the Windjammer to open and called family and friends to let them know that vacation had started and they wouldn't likely hear much from us except pictures on Facebook of us having a good time! The food in the Windjammer was always good and varied. Most of the times the crowds were not too bad except at the made to order egg line. My wife mentioned a couple of times that the food was a little cool. I didn't think that myself. We split our breakfasts from the Windjammer and the main dining room. The Windjammer is more convenient, but we like the fact that you can sit with different people each day and have some great conversations. We did Mytime dining and had the same waiter and assistant waiter (Michael and Derick). They were wonderful and took amazing care of us. We skipped dinner on the first day in Bermuda since our tour got back late and ate at Giovanni's one night, but our MDR experience was outstanding. We hadn't eaten at Giovanni's before since my wife doesn't eat pasta, but we did it this time because I had to try the Pasta Carbonara. It was good. I did try small portions of several portions of pasta as well as shrimp and my wife had a filet. All was very good and we agreed that we would have to eat at Giovanni's again. We loved the entertainers that we saw, but we were disappointed by the ruckus in the comedy show the last night. We weren't there, so I'm not going to go further into it. There were some very talented guests and the karaoke performances were great. We actually gravitated to the Schooner bar by the end of the cruise. At night, we were entertained by the piano player, Danny Burgess, he was great at pulling the guests into his performance and even got several ladies to sing along clucking like chickens including my wife. He is out of Texas and had to fill in for Giovanni who got sick the cruise before ours. If you get a chance to hear Danny, don't pass it up. On Bermuda, we did a private tour with another couple with Quinton Bean and got an amazing tour of the islands and their history. The only complaint I have is the fact that we didn't dock until 2 PM and much the island slows down or shuts down in the late afternoon. It didn't help that we got there on a Saturday. Sunday was even slower and the weather was bad - nasty storms and lightning. We planned on going to Horseshoe Bay, but the weather kept us at the dockyard - most of which was closed. Nassau was Nassau, nothing remarkable. On Coco Cay, we rented a Chill Island Cabana(Oceanfront when we booked it). They revamped the cabana area with the whole Perfect Day relaunch. It was still a great time and having the nice calm cove with all the fish was great. For the right price, I'd do it again. The best part of this cruise and was the core group that was part of the Roll Call page. We had a meet and Mingle hosted by John and Katrina Blair and some of us did an impromptu cabin crawl. Definitely some ideas for future cruises. We do junior suites but are now on the lookout for aft view JSes and good prices on full suites. We have sailed on Grandeur before, but will she has aged some, you'd not be able to tell by looking at her and the crew and service are still the best part of a trip on "Lady G"! Read Less

I had done an Alaska cruise on this same ship a couple of years ago with friends, but this time it was with my mom and SO. TL/DR: * Suites are sweet and you should do it at least once in your life * Royal Caribbean is awesome onboard for special needs, like food allergies and limited mobility * Radiance class ships are the absolute perfect size * RCCL invests in great entertainment * RCCL staff are second-to-none * RCCL does need to invest in refinishing all surfaces, and maybe more durable materials * RCCL should do more communication with people with special needs before cruises * Cruise travel with a service dog is not easy * Vancouver port needs a lot more work to be customer-friendly * Don't count on the same level of onboard activities with the entertainment staff The deets: About my crew: me and my SO are active, 40-ish, and are Emerald Level (I've been on over 12 cruises). I have a capsacin food allergy, which is uncommon and comes up a lot as peppers are in like everything. My mom hadn't been on a cruise in 40 years and is limited mobility, using a walker and a large, 90-pound mobility service dog. She has a black pepper allergy, even harder to avoid. My mom lives in Seattle, and the journey starts there. We took the morning Amtrak Cascades up to Vancouver, which was a perfect start to the cruise. We got into Vancouver in plenty of time to take a cab to the cruise port and get on the ship for lunch. I'm used to walking/public transport to cruise terminals, so it was cool to see the cabs at Canada Place drop you off inside the parking garage (so no worry about weather) and right where the bag porters are. So when we entered Canada Place, we expected the check-in to be right there, and wheelchair valets for folks with disabilities (no such luck). Instead, we were directed to elevators. We probably walked 1/2 mile or more overall, between check-in, customs, and so on before we got to the ship. We even passed wheelchair valets waiting for a call, and no one in the process indicated how long of a walk it may be. With my mom obviously mobility limited, I was surprised at that. Luckily, after several breaks, she managed onto the ship. Once on the ship, she was quickly taken care of for an easy way to get to a sitting spot. This was my first suite (see details below). It is awesome to have a taste of the upper tier. Leaving all that relates to being in the suites in the cabin review below. We ate at the MDR every night. I like that the my time dining has been moved to the lower floor of the MDR so there are more seats and variety of seats. We were able to reserve the same table and same time for the whole cruise. My mom and I both have weird food allergies (above), so it's really important to have consistent dining staff. We did fill out the special needs form beforehand, but you really have to communicate food allergies to the head waiter and your specific wait staff the first meal. I prefer to bring a paper listing all of the foods/types that I can't eat so there's no confusion. Our wait staff were excellent, not only taking care of us for dinner, but passing along meal requests to Windjammer and other venues for breakfast and lunch and special meals. You can't be as spontaneous, since you have to order food the day before, but you have peace of mind. Being as it was early in the season, they had Atlantic salmon on the menu the first few nights, but then had Alaskan seafood near the end once we hit the Alaskan ports. The food was excellent as always, with a broad variety, inventive dishes, fresh, and delicious. The biggest bummer was that the MDR wasn't open for lunch during port days (so most all days). During the day, the stars were the ports. I've done the active shore excursions and the cultural ones, you really can't go wrong. But you have to always plan that your day will contain rain, and book accordingly. We didn't have that problem this particular cruise; all of our days were sunny or partly cloudy and mid 60s. But, if you happen to get back early on the boat or decide to stay on the boat, don't count on a wide variety of entertainment staff activities. Maybe some trivia, games here and there. But they really don't program much of anything, expecting everyone to be out on shore. Note: even though the Icy Strait Point port said we would be tendering, we did dock. Accessibility excursion notes: the Saxman Totem tour was awesome as they set up a smaller bus; you have to be able to board the bus, but it was nice to have the shorter steps and easy seating. The Icy Strait Point whale watching tour was very good on the boat, but because of low tides we had to go to the far end of the boardwalk to get aboard (usually it's on the dock right next to the ship); luckily, they have an electric cart for mobility access. The WP&YR railroad is also great for accessibility, short walk if you can make it; if not, they have a cart--they also have a dedicated handicapped car with a larger bathroom. The ship had just taken on a new dance crew, so we didn't have any production shows. The one night we were to have a production show (Piano Man), the seas were rough and some of the crew were seasick, much less the difficulty of dancing on a rockin' ship. The acts we had were awesome: comedy, magic, juggling, etc. There was always an option of movies day, afternoon, and evening both beside the pool and in the cinema. I was pleased by the variety of movies they showed, from Blue Hawaii to Bohemian Rhapsody to Carmen (the opera). Speaking on onboard activities, the Alaska cruises always have some kind of enrichment speaker. We had a retired mountie who was new,so I'm sure he'll get better as he goes. The couple doing the Alaska history talks were awesome and should be onboard most this season. Ship environment: Radiance OTS was last refurbished in 2016, but honestly, it doesn't look it. There's a lot of wear in the wood and fabrics that make it seem older. However, the ship mechanicals all worked the whole cruise. This ship is a perfect size to have a variety of activity centers, like the cinema, pub, and Starquest lounge, while not being too big for walking (especially if you can't walk far distances). We got to meet most everyone on the ship--you don't get far with a dog without people noticing. Ship accessibility: This was my first cruise where I worried about accessibility. We had a cabin just off the Centrum elevators, so my mom had only a short walk to get anywhere. The longest was a 75 ft. walk to the theater. It was easy to get in and out of and get an accessible seat in the MDR and theater, and you could get into every venue. Handicapped bathrooms were well-placed to the main venues. I could see, though, if there were more than 4-5 scooters or mobility devices onboard, the accessibility would get more frustrating. Where my mom had problems was getting over the thresholds of the exterior doors (i.e., walking to the deck 5 exterior deck). These thresholds need to be smoothed out to meet ADA requirements--she had to physically lift the walker to get over them. Service dog: RCCL did accommodate the service dog, but could have done better. We filled out all of the requisite paperwork, and the ship seemed ready for us. By booking RCCL shore excursions, they passed forward info about the service dog. However, the dog relief station could have been better. It was located right next to the smoking section, on the walk to the helipad. So mom had to endure smoke to take her dog out, and since it is not used to people being around when it uses the facilities, I had to literally stop people coming down from the helipad. The box is 4'x4', with a plywood lid that mom couldn't lift and needed my help when the staff put the lid back on. The box was filled with shavings litter, even though they offer sod on the accessibility form, but the shavings weren't replaced or refreshed the whole cruise. There was a little can beside the box to dispose of poop. We wish that RCCL had been in communication with us before the cruise about the litter box and its location (I had to hunt it down once on board because no one knew about it). If we had known they couldn't provide sod this journey, we could have trained the dog to use shavings. And if we had known the location of the box and the distance from our cabin, we could have trained the dog appropriately. Lastly, let's talk about why to choose RCCL. There's always people that like one cruise line over another for some reason, so here's my spiel for why this line. I've been on all the major lines but HAL. I love the people that cruise RCCL--not too party, not all old, great balance of ages, and not too many kids. And I love even more the staff of RCCL--I've run into staff that remember me 4 years later on a different ship, and there is a loyalty to the cruise line and the customers that I like to come back to every cruise. Be careful when going into ports with Royal Caribbean they try and charge you for shuttle service. Ours was $9 per person to go to the edge of city centre. When we got off the ship, the local taxis charge 2.50 euros. The bar prices are also so high and sometimes the packages are not worth it. Also Do you research on the ports before you go. 3 of our ports were rubbish, nothing to do and just a normal town, might as well of stopped at home. Also one of the days the entire island was closed. Nothing was open. Yet they still try and push for an excursion to visit the old town where the main shopping centre is open, but the shops inside it weren’t. The entertainment team singers. (Chris & Vanessa) were superb, the best I’ve ever heard on any stage. WOW. The dancers were a little messy, but redeemed by the ballroom couple. The headliner guest acts were awful. The Frankie valli tribute sounded like Orville the Duck. He was also very weak and on occasion out of tune. The take that tribute were not bad. But let down badley by the guy playing Gary Barlow. He was not good. Cringe worthy. The food in the windjammer was excellent. The cabin steward was also excellent. The cruise director (Graeme) was so funny, made the cruise. Just wished he would walk around the ship more. The TV and stations needs looking at. Need to offer more choice. Also some areas around the ship are very cold. I would suggest for everyone to take a cardigan or ask the ship to make it less cold. Read Less

We arrived in Honolulu the evening before our cruise and had a hotel a short distance from the cruise port. From the time we check our bags with a porter, through security and check-in, we were on the ship in less than 30 minutes. We have been on the Radiance of the Seas several times before, but found the ship in need of a makeover. The ship looks "tired". Compared to newer, more modern ships, it's furnishings look old and need of replacement. Our balcony cabin (#9208) was clean, but it had torn drapes and sheer panels. The sofa was well worn. While out on the balcony, rust could be seen in several locations. We had My Time Dining in the Cascades Dining Room seven of our 12 nights and found the food to be good. Three nights we went to the Windjammer and enjoyed the buffet. Two of the nights, Prime Rib roast was served. Two nights, Chops was our choice. Chops has never disappointed. The Windjammer breakfast buffet was also good. We chose to only go to the Aurora Theatre twice. I found the entertainment there to be not that rewarding. Throughout the cruise, we enjoyed the various singers, instrumentals and and violinists in the Centrum and Colony Club. This cruise had many Diamond, Diamond + and Pinnacle C&A members. The Concierge Lounge was only for use by Suite guests and Pinnacle level. The Diamond Lounge on the Radiance is small and only holds about 25-30 people. They had to open up the Starquest Lounge next door to accommodate all of the Diamond and Diamond + folks. The nightly happy hour was always crowded. We would wait until after 5:30 (when early dining started) to go there. All crew members we encountered would greet you with a smile and a greeting. We wanted a longer cruise that was affordable, so we could choose some excursions. We enjoyed the hot tubs and the decor. Our cabin was perfect; fantastic location. except not enough room for my wheel chair.(The handicapped cabin was more expensive).Our room's caretaker was excellent. No room for improvement there either. She was a kind sweet young lady, very thorough. We even enjoyed chatting with her. The food was fantastic anywhere we went we were well accommodated in the DR.The main complaint we had was the constant loud music videos on deck, never any quiet time. We found this a bit distressing. Service was great all the way around with one exception, when I needed a break in the line at the cafe they would not accommodate me. I cant wait in line and I needed a snack.All the other food venues were closed. This was a concern. Outside this complaint the service was excellent.. Read Less

Our experience on the Allure of the Seas with Royal Caribbean Cruise. 3rd Cruise, 1st with RC. The entire cruise started out poorly with it taking close to a month to book our shore excursions due to having to go through a special area because of handicapped guests. The only way to reach them was email and it took them a week or two to respond the first couple times and after that, I was getting no response at all. I finally had to reach out to the executive office, and it was handled within a couple days with all shore excursions approved by the tour operators themselves. (Apparently the girl that was helping us got sick and there was no one helping or monitoring her email account and “we just slipped through the cracks-??”). At the time we booked our cruise (2+ months in advance), we booked through Royal Caribbean and provided them with all 8 of our birthdays and they arranged our 3 rooms accordingly and all was well it seemed. Over a month later, they decide to send an email and mention that we have 2 “minors” (18 and 20 yrs old) in a room by themselves which is not allowed unless they are in a room attached to ours. The first guy told me when I called that there was nothing they could do, the cruise was full, and we would have to pay extra to upgrade our room to get one next to them. I did not like that answer, so I called back again a couple minutes later to another manager and now there is no other rooms available at all because the cruise is at capacity. Needless to say, I had to make several phone calls and spend a lot of time finding an appropriate manager before they were able to “fix it” so we were all still able to go on the cruise. By Fix, I mean they changed the names around on the reservation, to make sure a adult was listed with a minor in each room. Mind you, this was very close to sail date so we had no other choice, and this “fix” effected us several times throughout our cruise when they could have easily told us this policy when we booked the cruise with the representative, so we could have worked out a solution early on before all the available rooms were gone. Getting on the ship wasn’t too bad and once on the ship, we head to the buffet to get food while the rooms were still being made up. The line was a mile long obviously with everyone having the same idea, so I went up and asked the employee standing at the front what other places were available to eat that were FREE on the ship. He mentioned 3, Johnny rockets being the only one we could understand, so we headed down there, all 8 of us with 2 elderly individuals in scooters. It took us 25 minutes just to get an elevator to take us down because it was so busy, just to find out Johnny rockets wasn’t free as the worker had advised. We ended up having to eat there anyway because everyone was hot, hungry, and aggravated. After eating we headed up to the rooms to find 3 of our bags missing from one room, and 1 bag from another room. At this point, it was past sail away time so we headed down the hall to find a steward to ask about the bags. We get half way down the hall and see two of our missing bags in front of another door. We found the lady that was taking care of all the baggage on the floor and told her about our bags being in the wrong place and one still missing on this floor and another missing on another floor. She wouldn’t let us take our own bags to our room, she said she would get them and bring them and find our other one, which I’m sure is some policy or something, but to be honest, they obviously didn’t do a great job the first time around so it was difficult to leave our bags, but eventually we did get all our bags that belonged at each of our rooms. We then try to set up the WiFi... I’ll just shorten that experience recall by saying we spent an hour between the WiFi desk and the App desk trying to get our WiFi package to work for all of us AND get everything re-situated with the apps because of how they had to list our names on the rooms to comply with their minor policy. (My information and plans were listed on my husbands app and our daughters on his, etc). After all this time wasted, we noticed we had different dining times listed on our sail cards even though we had prearranged to all eat at one time at the same table, this was apparently due to them rearranging our names due to the minor policy again. So next we go to the dining area desk and speak with them. Spent several minutes with them not being able to resolve it, so we were told they would contact us in the morning. We went back to the room to change and get ready for a late night show and the phone rings. It’s a lady from the shore excursion desk telling us we won’t be able to do the tours that we had arranged prior to boarding and had ok’d directly with the tour operators themselves. At this point I just told her I’d call back in the morning because we had spent the entire first day handling issues and had not been able to enjoy anything and I was finished. The second day we wake up and go to breakfast in the dining hall, and were met by two very rude employees. Apparently it is a very BIG inconvenience for the workers if you have a large party and/or scooters which we had both. We left breakfast feeling awful. Now looking into the RC app, our dining time now shows late dining instead of early dining and my daughter gets a notice on her door that our dining time was changed to a different dining area but with early dining, so off to the dining place we go again to verify what was going on. 30 minutes later, No one can figure out how the late dining got put in, and they verified the dining in the other dining area was correct. Ok fine.. so we go down and check out THIS dining hall and find it right next to the casino. You can smell a horrific smell of smoke coming into the restaurant and my daughter has health issues so obviously a smoky dining room isn’t going to work for us. Back to the dining booth with another promise of someone going to handle it before the day is up. Thankfully we had specialty dining that night and didn’t have to eat in the regular dining room. At this point, I again contact the executive office and let them know we have spent all of the first day and most of the second just trying to deal with issues and I was just about to the breaking point. I paid a lot of money to enjoy myself and be stress free; not spend the entire day handling problems. I then proceeded to the shore excursion desk to try to deal with the call from the night before. They told me I needed to go to guest relations because they knew nothing about anyone calling. I get to guest relations, wait in line for 15 min for them to tell me I needed to go back to shore excursions. I proceed back to shore excursions, and no one is able to tell me why the person called or what was wrong with my shore excursion. I spent over an hour there, had a break down and started crying, and finally she contacted the manager of the shore excursions. He also had no idea what was going on and said he would have to wait until the evening when the other workers arrive to find out who called and why they had called (because apparently she is the only one that knows what is going on with my shore excursion??) and would get back with me later in the evening. Also thankfully we didn’t have shore excursions until the 4th day. We went to dinner at our specialty restaurant and everyone was so nice. We thought it was because of the specialty dining, but the waiter actually asked us what happened for the dining manager to get involved because apparently they told him to treat us well. We also had a visit that same evening from the head of dining to hand deliver our new dining table number and he mentioned to let him know if there was anything he can do for us from here on out. While I agree that was great customer service, I don’t think people should have to complain to get treated nicely. We took a carnival cruise prior to this one and everyone was accommodating and kind all the time. We did have a great dining experience for the rest of the cruise in the evenings when they apparently knew who we were. The remaining lunch times were still met with rude staff that was annoyed at our large party and the fact that they had to accommodate us with disabled individuals. That evening when we got back to the room, we receive a phone call from the shore excursion manager saying even though we had prior permission to have the scooters on all of our excursions with the tour directors themselves, one particular excursion is now saying we have to push wheelchairs instead of use the scooters. These are the comments from the tour director after sending in a long questionnaire and all the dimensions of the scooters, and the height and weight of the people driving them etc.. Comments:  “So long as the guest can navigate 3 stairs on and off the bus/boat and the scooter/wheelchair can collapse and fit under the bus they are welcome to join the tour.” So now, even though we spent all this time and effort, sent in all required information they needed to get approval and got the approval from the tour directors themselves, they are now changing their mind and the shore excursion manager said there was nothing he could do because it was the tours themselves, it wasn’t Royal Carribean. (We did go on this tour with the wheelchairs and found we could have maneuvered the bus way better with the collapsible scooters versus the wheelchairs, not to mention all the effort it took for us to push them around all day, so it was extremely disappointing to say the least). If everyone wasn’t looking forward to getting off the ship and seeing the area, we would have just cancelled the tour. We actually seemed to have issues all throughout the cruise ship with accommodations and their scooters. In the dining room, the elevators, shops, etc. Their room steward told them that they only needed to call in the evening and the steward would come and pick up their scooters, charge them, and bring it back in the morning at what time they request, but 75 percent of the time they called, no one answered so we had to find a worker each evening to call for us. On the second day, a lady called my mother and was very nasty to her telling her she can not leave the scooters in the hall during the time they are in their room. We asked the Steward again and he said it was fine to leave them and no one could figure out who the mysterious lady was that called and was crazy about it. On the last day, we had two nice people who pushed my mother and my grandmother in wheelchairs part of the way but changed to another two individuals halfway through, around security. When we were outside, the guy told my mom she could keep the wheelchair out there until our ride arrived since we had to leave the scooters on the boat, but the lady pushing my grandma asked if she could stand on her own and then told her if so, she needed to give the wheelchair back. Now my grandma is almost 90 and can’t stand for more than a few minutes so I asked the lady if she could leave the wheelchair like the guy left moms, and she said she couldn’t and took it and started walking away. I followed her and asked her nicely to leave it and she said it was Royal Caribbeans policy they couldn’t leave more than one wheelchair (so if you have 2 disabled people, apparently one is out of luck). I ended up following her and tried to get her name off her name tag and she ripped her name tag off and started yelling about how she will call the cops, and she would not allow me to get her name. She finally went through a door and screamed to the guy that I wasn’t allowed in there, and I was just trying to explain that I wanted her name and even the guy tried to look at her name badge and she grabs it out of his hand and yells at him to quit touching her. He tells me who her manager is, I go speak with him but couldn’t give him much information on who she was because she snatched her name tag, and he said he would go and try to find out who it was but at this point our ride was there so we had to leave. I have never been treated so awful, not to mention my 89 year old grandma was left outside with nothing to sit on and there was no benches available. Also this problem was very minimal compared to the rest, but we found a few times when we went to go do activities (carousel and zip line specifically) they were closed even though they were suppose to be open. We also ordered room service with cokes and water and specified we had the drink package to cover the drinks, but when they brought it they brought Evian bottled water instead of the bottled water that came with our package and canned coke instead of a glass of coke that would come with our package. We ended up with over a $30 room service bill which should have just been the $8 service fee. Also, the “jewelry making class” consisted of you purchasing your own jewelry kit and following the directions to make it yourself while trying to hurry up and get it done before the next class started. After this, we did not attend any more of the “classes” and even cancelled our cupcake decorating class we had scheduled. We chose Royal Carribbean because their customer service and overall cruise experience is suppose to be unmatched, but found out first hand things aren’t always as they seem. I will give a huge shoutout to our amazing waiters for our regular dining time and our stewards, both which were very funny, nice, and accommodating. The shows were great, and the food was good, but overall extremely disappointing for the money spent and the time wasted dealing with all the problems. Read Less

This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise with Carnival being the regular cruise line I go on every year. When I first got on the ship, they had a huge welcome cake in the Windjammer with two guys who were playing different songs getting you to wash your hands (really catchy and they could sing really well)! I was impressed by the amount of food they had although some of it was bland wish it had more flavor or was more sweeter ( red velvet cake). The activities they had on board were amazing and really fun to participate in. I went to the Living Room which is a teen club for teens ages 12-17 and it was way better than the Carnival teen club Club 02, with more people in it and a lot of activities. Although they didn't let you in if you were wet and you couldn't eat in there. The woman who cleaned my room always put my pajamas on my bed folded and was really nice when talking to her although I wasn't in the room often, I do wish I had a TV guide for when I was up late night and nothing was open. The ports we went to ( Labadee, Haiti & Falmouth, Jamaica) were beautiful and nice with music playing in Haiti and a shopping center in Jamaica. The excursion I did in Haiti was the Dragon roller coaster was very fun but scary at times going down fast on the turns. This is a very great family cruise for all ages including babies (my one year old went with my family and I). This is also great if you are wanting to do so much and learn so much from the activities. I definitely want to go on another Royal Caribbean cruise soon. Read Less

We traveled on Anthem with our two sons (4 and 6) and my mom (71). We purchased The Key, and the original reason is because although my son has autism, RCI does not offer priority disembarking for ports of call. It was completely worth it to skip the lines getting on and off the ship. We had a special lunch at Jamie Oliver’s Italian which was just okay. Occasionally RCI would leave us treats like fruit or cookies in our stateroom, which was pleasant. And the day we disembarked, we had a fabulous special breakfast in the dining room. The VOOM internet service is the fastest at sea, which makes me feel sad for anyone using slower internet. Streaming was near impossible. I downloaded iQ app which took at least 15 minutes. If we didn’t get it with The Key I wouldn’t have paid for it. The Royal iQ app left quite a lot to be desired. It would have been nice to actually see menus for restaurants, give shop opening hours, and allow you to chat with guest services. The service set the experience apart from other vacations. Almost everyone was helpful and nice. Our dining room hostess, Elizabeth, was amazing. She really took the initiative to get to know us and our children. Every morning the boys looked forward to seeing her. Our housekeeper, Daisy, was also great. She set up the impossible pull out bed every afternoon. Adorable towel animals always accompanied our turn down service. And she always wanted to know how she could help make our stay great. We sent the boys to Adventure Ocean kids’ club, which they liked. At first they split the boys up according to age, but that made my older son with ASD uncomfortable, so the next time we asked if they could stay together and they said okay - and after that they had a wonderful time. The pools were nice and of course on a nice day you’d need to fight for a chair or encounter some children being wild or jerks. Nothing atypical. They were clean and of average size. I liked how they offer life vests for babies and little kids. The food was generally okay. Windjammer was basically cafeteria quality. Dining room was good - breakfast excellent, dinner just okay. You can get anything customized which was good for our picky children. We ate at Chops which was a disappointment, unfortunately. My steak was over cooked and the lobster bisque too salty. We were there 90 minutes and decided to skip dessert because it was taking so long. Izumi was really great, yummy ramen. The Dog House had excellent hot dogs. Jamie’s featured gummy calamari and only 4 shrimp in my pasta. The bread was good though. Everything is expensive if you want something more than what you get with your ticket. Shop prices exorbitant. $10-13 for alcoholic drinks, which were just okay. Cococay was beautiful. It’ll be better once they finish the new water park. We loved the pool. The lunch was better than on the ship. The only drawback was the super long walk, and once you get on the island there are very few paved paths, making it take forever to get anywhere, especially with little kids. The on board activities were fun. My husband and son did the iFly and enjoyed it. They liked the bumper cars and the games like table tennis and corn hole toss. We skipped roller skating after we met someone who broke her leg after someone crashed into her. We went to see “We Will Rock You” and the sound was mixed so badly our chests hurt from the bass. Combine that with rough waters and my seasickness was so bad we left 30 minutes in. The story was disappointing anyhow (not RCI’s fault) so we didn’t feel like we missed much. My younger son got a fever and we had to take him to the infirmary. It turned out to be an ear infection. What a smooth experience - I wish urgent care on land was so efficient. They saw us in triage, we waited 5 minutes more, saw the doctor, he checked our son out, and we had antibiotics. The entire encounter was less than 45 minutes. Unfortunately even with an ear infection, my son had to be quarantined to our cabin for 24 hours so we missed our excursion to Nassau. No problem, though. Our money was refunded. All in all, we had a very nice time. I’m not sure I’ll go again, just because of my seasickness. RCI runs a class act, fabulous service. Read Less
