Wished it had more "single events". Noting that singles were to meet at 8pm at xx and not having a crew member organizer there, is fruitless since I'm not going to tap-on-shoulder those present at the bar to ask them. (first day there were 3 men at the bar at 8pm. Who is to say whether they were there as a group for themselves?!?) Trivia, I guess is doable, but I don't do Trivia. I missed the daily Piano Man that Royal Caribbean has! Maybe a few nights of this in the main lobby (instead of disco dancing) would have been great. Loved the multiple speakers.... loved the "zumba-like" dancing by the pool. Food was good, everywhere. Staff was exceptional... Evening shows were generally excellent as well. Our Cruise Director Sue Denning, again, outdid herself! Ports were good except had to miss Cinque Terre tour and the Toulon tour due to weather. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the a special group rate that was advertised locally that included flight and bus transportation to airport, hotel in Rome, and fromtmfrom hotel to port and then bus to our home area in Florida. We have cruised Celebrity a few times before, but we have a higher cruising record with Princess. We went with another couple that we traveled with before. One couple we met came back to their room on the 3rd floor to find water from a busted pipe that flooded their room and part of the hallway to a group of rooms. There were some empty rooms and they got upgraded to an outside room. One night we came back to our room and found no water in faucet or toilet. I called guest relations and they said the entire ship was without water. It took several hours for the water to come back and when the faucet was opened the water came out with dirt. The water eventually ran clear. However, not one person of authority from the ship ever acknowledged the situation and cause. We didn't know if water was safe to drink. It all worked out in the end. The ship was very clean. The dining room food and service were better than the last 21 cruises we have been on. The entertainment exceeded our expectations. The Horrible. A water main broke on the ship. We had no water to the cabins for about 6 hours. It wouldn't have been so bad except passengers were not notified. Rumors started to spread that deck 2 was under water and deck 3 was flooding. A total lack of communication from Celebrity. We didn't sink, we got water back so we guess they fixed the problem. The disembarkation was the worst we have ever had. The machine that raises and lowers the gangplank malfunctioned. About 400 of us stood on the promenade deck waiting to get off. Our numbers had been called. There was no communication until a very stressed assistant cruise director tried yelling information above everyone talking. You would think that a life boat deck would have a powered megaphone. We ended up going down a very steep angled ramp with no one from the ship to help those who had trouble. . Read Less

We chose this cruise after doing significant research on several transatlantic crossings. This was our first transatlantic and we loved the idea of starting in Rome and making stops in the Western Med. Amazing ports including Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Palma and Tenerife. We chose to do the shore excursions provided by Celebrity (something we normally don't do) because we were not familiar with the ports. They were even better than expected and wouldn't hesitate to book through them again on a future cruise. Our sea days were very enjoyable and relaxing. The Silhouette has many great public areas and has one of the best lay outs of any ship we have been on. LOVE the fact that there is no smoking anywhere inside the ship including the casino. We tried 3 of the upcharge restaurants, Tuscan Grille (not bad), Qsine (amazing). and Lawn Club Grill (disappointing). We tried to get into Murano but couldn't get a reservation. The MDR was excellent. We had flexible dining and always chose a table for 2. It was never a problem. We also ate in the MDR for breakfast on sea days. We chose the buffet for most of our lunches. It had many, many choices and the ice cream was a favorite everyday! The only real criticism we have was the entertainment. We love comics and there were only 2 on the entire 16 days. The rest of the entertainment was ok but became redundant. We have already booked the Reflection transatlantic for next year. Love Celebrity and love the Soltice class ship layout. Read Less

This one the best yet - a big part to Cruise Critic and the Roll Call. Signed up for two excursions I learned about through the Roll Call. Weather prevented us from stopping for the France excursion, but, the tour in Mallorca was WONDERFUL - a small friendly group, a van, great tour guide and time for shopping, food tasting and stops throughout the Island. This was my 3rd cruise on the Silhouette and the crew and passengers all made it an extra friendly atmosphere. Sad that I missed out on the Gift exchange because I was never notified on where or when it was. Did enjoy the Cabin Crawl. Best Celebrity excursion yet was the Inside Tour of the ship including the Bridge. My camera was snapping away. Next cruise is another Trans Atlantic - again on the Silhouette in April. Can't get enough cruise days. The hard part this time will be losing hours instead of gaining them while I sleep. Read Less

Overall wonderful experience. Comfortable ship with excellent entertainment options, delicious food, and good value for money. A couple of comments on dining... I rarely saw anyone at the Sushi at 5 restaurant, which used to be a free option. As well, we didnt' see the point in spending extra money on the specialty dining options since our regular dining room meals were already excellent. We did try Murano one night, which was excellent, but not so much better to make it worth the additional cost. Our waiters were wonderful (we had the same ones for the entire 27 days) and they paid special attention to my wife's special food needs. The first leg of the cruise included the beverage package, but the repositioning leg did not .. so it was good that they offered a 2 for 1 deal on it. Otherwise it would have been far too expensive for the amount of alcohol that we would want. The quality of the entertainers was much better than we expected and made the evening shows into must-attend events. The ship's band was also terrific and included a former multiple Grammy winner as its lead. Since there were so many B2B cruisers on board, they made it very simple for those who did not need to disembark after the first leg. Read Less

Overall, this was a very enjoyable trip. This was only our 3rd-ever cruise, the first two being on the Carnival Glory in the Caribbean. So we have only a little to compare to. My wife and I seek value for our travel dollar, so we did not take any optional drink packages or pay for the optional restaurant meals. We organized our own shore excursions, renting a car on two islands, to do our own touring. First off, we do not recommend waiting till near departure time to book, as there appeared be few rooms available in the last month. We booked 8 months ahead at a slightly cheaper rate to not guarantee a room, and were assigned a nice inside room on a side branch of the 8th floor (little traffic in our corridor) 4 months from the travel date. The room was clearly bigger than our Glory room, with a sofa and more spacious bathroom. The service was adequate, although the cleaner did not close the door fully one time. For a TA (transatlantic), one needs to book 2 one-way flights; do not use the regular airline booking sites, as they charge too much. The port is more than an hour’s train ride from Rome, and the train leaves from a platform quite far from the entrance. Worse, at the Citavecchia train station, one must use staircases to exit (more than one traveller had their suitcases fall down the stairs), and there is no shuttle service to the port (taxi is needed). Boarding was fast and convenient; large suitcases must be checked, but were delivered to our room within 2 hours. The buffet food service exceeded our expectations: good quality, lots of choice, and available from 7 am till 10 pm. The sit-down service always started several minutes late (e.g., 5:40 pm, instead of the advertised 5:30); this was an issue as the service was often slow, and difficult to finish by 7 pm, in time for the early show. The food service itself was nice, and the food was excellent. The main entertainment was a show listing about 45-50 minutes; quality varied greatly: some excellent singers, a good magician and a good comedian. One singing duo was less well received, as their choice of music was obscure. On the Glory, there were 4 different comedy shows each night, in addition to the main shows. In compensation, this TA cruise had more trivia games (several each sea day) and good lectures. In particular, Dr. Gary, a retired physicist, gave dozens of interesting talks. The trivia people were very friendly. On 2-3 occasions, the evening shows were followed by an encore presentation the following afternoon. One annoyance we had was in trying to arrange and advertise a free activity that my wife did: origami paper folding. She is a retired teacher who has taught origami for 35 years, and she wanted to run a free folding activity for all interested passengers, all free. We emailed and called Celebrity well prior to the trip, and got little response. Once on board, after some effort, we were given a room for the activity, but at 5 pm - a time that few would be seeking an activity. We discovered that a specialty restaurant was free to use prior to 4 pm, and did manage to hold origami classes informally then. We were not allowed to mention the activity in the dally bulletin, and so it was very hard to advertise the class, other than word of mouth. We asked at Customer Relations to have a copy for the small bulletin board notice the class had, and never got a response from them. The other major disappointment was missing our only stop in France. The captain announced that we could not travel there, owing to high winds. The only compensation that we received was a small discount for the port landing fee. I had to struggle with customer relations to get access to the internet, to cancel my reservations at that port. They absolutely refused to allocate us even a few minutes of internet time….grudgingly allowing me to use their terminal for 5 minutes. Despite all the time saved by not going to Toulon, we did not arrive in Barcelona early. Celebrity should have done more to compensate for the total loss of a port. Debarkation in Florida was rather disorganized. The captain apparently neglected to account for the high tide at the time, meaning that the off-ramp would not line up properly. So the many dozens of people lined up on the exit deck had to move all their luggage to another deck, where we waited another 45 minutes, supposedly owing to US customs delays. As for the ports, it poured rain at the first stop; we were very glad NOT to have reserved any trips (we heard that the official excursion to Florence left passengers outside in the deluge for hours). We took a local bus to the Montefore sanctuary. For Barcelona, we recommend making early reservations for the Sagrada Familia - a unique site. In Mallorca, we recommend a trip to the north shore, to see some pretty villages. In Tenerife, a visit to the interior National Park is worth the trip. Read Less

The crew on Celebrity are always fantastic, but think the powers that be, the management, are making changes. cutting back on many things, and the food is not as good as it has been, or on other lines. Competition for our business is huge and hate to see Celebrity change. The open seating dining was a joke this cruise!!!, finally went to late seating. Our cabin in SV was great, loved the wake everyday!! Sue the cruise director has and still is a great lady. Not real happy with the Shore excursions desk, enjoyed our excursions but had a problem with our tickets and the meeting spot. Brought it to the desk attention after----in one ear and out the other--hear from no one!! The officers were always out and about and friendly always. Read Less

The main dining room offered excellent service and excellent food. Blu is always top notch service. Qsine was so much fun, we dined there three nights. Tuscan Grill remains our favorite. Sushi on 5 was always entertaining. The S class offers so many places to meet and gather, it never felt crowded. Overall, we had excellent service in every venue. All crew members we encountered were always friendly. Andrej at the World Class Bar offered a wealth of information. The Martini bar was always fun. The casino could have paid off a bit more but we won several times. We did a ship tour and that is definitely worth the time and money. Celebrity remains our favorite cruise line. Read Less

We cruised on the Celebrity Silhouette on a back to back cruise, which afforded us 27 nights on this great ship. We were in Aqua Class and ate in Blu every night, where the staff was outstanding along with the service. Our waiters, Samsul and Mertha were the best we have ever experienced. The staff everywhere on this ship was outstanding in every way from the bar waiters, to the bartenders, the shop staff, the art gallery staff to the Oceanview Buffet staff. The officers were always visible and friendly as we had many great conversations with them which enriched our trip. The ship is beautiful and very well maintained. The ship is continually being cleaned which added to the beauty knowing that every window, mirror, railing, etc was always as clean as possible. The Cruise Director, Sue, was the best I have enjoyed on my previous cruises. She is elegant, funny, talented and top of her profession for sure. Our cabin was beautiful and spacious. There was so much on the ship to enjoy, we did not do everything during our 27 nights. The only negative our vacation was our experience with, the Activities Manager. She seemed like a fish in the wrong pond so to speak on Celebrity. We witnessed her, being condescending to her activities staff on numerous encounters and even experienced it for ourselves personally as we were disembarking the ship, when she was rude to my husband, who is handicapped. I said to her that I would report her to Celebrity, when she informed me that she did not care as Celebrity would not do anything about it and she could care less what I said or did. This was the last 30 seconds of our month long vacation on this ship and really upset me as she was ugly to my husband at the same time we were having our cruise cards scanned to leave the ship. I have had trouble sleeping for the past fews night thinking of how my husband must have felt having her talk to him the way she did and treat him the way she did because of his mobility disability. She talked down to him and was very condescending to him just like she had been to her employees throughout this cruise. I know Celebrity really strives to score a 10 on every category and they did with us except the Activities Manager. If we cruise again with Celebrity, I will do my best to ensure we don't cruise on a ship that has her as an employee. I hope we never encounter her again. Celebrity really is a great cruise line and this ship was beautiful and our month long stay on her was relaxing and enjoyable. The food was wonderful as well as the service in Blu, the bars, and the buffet. The buffet really went out of their way to have a great variety of foods every day along with traditional favorites we came to enjoy and appreciate. The port stops on this cruise were wonderful as we enjoyed, Greece and Italy so much. Rhodes was outstanding and I highly recommend getting off the ship in this small town and walking around. It was the highlight of our entire cruise. Read Less

Cabin lacked many things that were to be included in this class. Afternoon "snacks" we're very poor. Had terrible time with booking a table for dinner in anytime dinning. Never had such a difficult experience as this. Definitely not worth the Conciege level. Cruise director,Sue , was very good and brought good entertainers on board. However the Singers and Dancers main Shows were not very good and have gone down in quality and spectacular feeling. Acrobatic portions excellent. Some cast singers did not sing but Yelled the music. Found overall sound system in the theatre set to a very loud decibel level making it necessary to put earplugs in many cases. Cabin attendand Nicol was excellent. Wish you had supervised Bridge games with a Bridge teacher. Overall, there are cuts on spending in many levels and perhaps this is felt a bit too much. The elegance of Cruising is weakening. Chose this cruise because another couple we met on a previous cruise advised us that they had booked on this cruise and invited us to join them. We were most disappointed with the goings on the Silhouette. The Accounting was awful, we had paid for a Dinner Wine package and the Somellier had no intimation of this. He most graciously advised us that our credit was good and for us to go ahead and order the wine and that he would take care of the accounting aspect. He discovered that we had been billed for two sets of Wine packages and arranged for the Credit due. The shore Excursions thru' which office we had confirmed three tours, two tours earllier and one later. They had no record of our first two tours and advised us that we had no reservaions even after the fact that they sent us an invoice confirming the tours debited us with the costs. Had a shore appointment whch was made even before we started the tours, where we would not have been able to keep if it was not due to the fact that one of the Shore Excursions Staff, after hearing our plight confirmed with her Manaer and were able to accommodate us. There was a major break down with the water supply for several hours when a main pipe burst and was eventually repaired. When the water supply resumed, the water from the faucet was badly discoloured and presumable contminated and the toilet backed up very badly. When the Front Office Guest Services was requested to supply a few bottles of water (normal Cost US $5.50 + 18% gratuity - a true rip off) at no charge due to the inconvenience. After 3 reminders and assurances, absolutely no action was taken and the water never arrived. We celebrated 2 special occassions with our 51st wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday, receipt of the latter was confirmed prior to full payment and was totally ignored on board. There were numerous, approx. 20 items each day on the daily Today Ship's programme, which were marked with double ** asterics, indicating that a fee applies. Even the Officers Party for Select Members were a joke. the cruise line cancelled the party (a huge savings in doing so) and instead provided each couple with 3 beverage coupons that had to be consumed withing 2 hours from 5 pm - 7 pm, which resulted with the early Dinner sitting passengers had only 45 minutes to consume 6 beverages. Again a massive savings in not achiving the impossible. A sure insult to the intelligence of the cruise passencgers. All of the Waiter and other Staff were very good. The Officers, with the exception of the Captain, could do with some PR updates. Being our 39th cruise, will not be inclined to add this cruise to our repeat list. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we spent a week in Prauge and Rome before boarding this trans-Atlantic cruise. The ship missed one port of call because of the weather (never refunded the port charges) but the rest of the crossing the seas were very calm and the weather warm. We found the food day after day to be boring, except if you paid extra for the specialty restaurants (about $100 for 2 unless you buy a package). If you book anytime dinning do not expect to be seated when you want always a long line and a wait. The entire Celebrity cruise line is geared to getting every dollar out of you on a cruise. from internet, drinks, special event, services and of course retail stores which are no bargains. My wife has her hair washed and blown out at the beauty salon cost $75 plus 18% gratuity that was the last time we used any service on board We brought our own DVD player to watch movies in our room. Entertainment in the Celebrity theater was inadequate and nothing memorable, singing that was way to loud so that we had to walk out of the theater several times. Disembarking the ship was a nightmare, something happen to the gangway and they left the passengers lined up on deck in line while they called the shore to have it fixed. We have sailed on 70+ cruises on other ships and are now Elite class on Celebrity. It will be a long time before we sail with this line again. Read Less

My wife and I have cruised with Celebrity many times but this was our first time sailing on the Silhouette. It was a major disappointment comparing it to the other trips with Celebrity. The food in the main dinning room was marginal at best and not once in the 15 that we ate in the main dinning room did our dinner arrive hot. the meals were warm at best. Portion sizes have been reduced to child size portions and if you return your dinner due to it being cold you wait only to receive another warn dinner. Do you enjoy a cup of coffee with your desert,so do I. Unfortunately not once did the coffee arrive with the dessert and a number of nights we left without ever having our coffee. I can only surmise that the cruise lines want you to book your dinners in the specialty restaurants since the staff were ever present trying to get us to book a table. Activities on this ship were designed for non active or non mobile passengers. No basketball, volleyball or pool games. This was the first cruise I have ever taken that no band of any sort played around the pool during the day. As I said BORING. On a transatlantic cruse with 7 straight sea days you would think the crew staff would have come up with a plan to entertain the passengers better during the day. Our stateroom attendant was great and the stateroom was very comfortable. Read Less

Great trip overall. Met nice people and plan to keep in touch. Martini Bar was our "go to" spot every night at 6. Music was not good--screechy Skyla drove us crazy. Bought drink package for 1/2 price the second day. Paid off -drinks are very expensive otherwise.Casino is smoke-free, which was a plus, and not too crowded. We did very well--others, not so much! Food is excellent--no need to go to specialty restaurants and pay extra. Did Any-Time with Jayson and Vinesh every night. They were top notch. Shows were OK. Individual acts were much better than crew shows. I'm spoiled by Disney and Royal Caribbean--even Carnival. Tried to play Trivia with Wil but he was annoying and dismissive. Found better ways to spend our time on board. Perfume/Cosmetic shop Andre asked me if I was "on a budget" when I refused to pay for Chanel moisturizer. Another woman gave me a hassle when I returned a concealer. Tried to imply that it was "used" when it was never even opened. Very pushy and rude salespeople. Sue Denning was the best cruise director I've had in 40+ cruises. We did our own private land tours--found on Tripadvisor. They were superb and well worth the slightly extra $. Missed Toulon due to weather and a terrorist threat. Getting off the ship in Ft. Lauderdale was horrific. No crew to help with wheelchairs. Jammed up on deck for 1/2 hour. We chose this cruise because we took the same exact cruise last year & had a wonderful experience. This time was equally wonderful. The only exception to wonderful was the entertainment. The singers & dancers are all extremely talented young people but the material chosen by the corporate office for them to perform forgot about the scope of the audience which was comprised of a majority of 60+. It was difficult to relate to some of the entertainment. The main dining room's menu was varied & of restaurant quality. We had all but 2 of our meals there. The 2 other dining venues were absolutely outstanding in their style, presentation & taste. Our cabin was maintained perfectly as we expected from Celebrity. After being scared silly by an announcement that there were 2 cases of Norovirus on the ship, we saw an immense effort to keep the ship as germ-free as possible. The walls, floors (even in the elevators), railings were constantly being washed & disinfected. There were no other cases. We can't wait until next year's crossing! Read Less

Booked this cruise as we got a great deal on a Celebrity Suite and was looking forward to the WOW factor. It was the 12 night sailing from Rome to the Greek Islands and Israel in late October. The check in was very smooth and being in a higher level suite we were met at portside and escorted to the Michaels club to have a drink. This started of the cruise very well. Got to our room Suite 1110 and was slightly disappointed as based on past cruises the SKY Suite is actually bigger. Seems like they have tried to cram a lot in a small space. We were on the HUMP so the balcony was much bigger but what a waste of space. We had one comfy lounger and a small round table with 2 chairs. So much wasted space... Everything on the ship is ow an extra. We were bombarded with this package and that package by the staff to try and make the cruise better but I only see Celebrity getting any benefit as everything is so expensive. We had a drinks package which helped but if we wanted a better class of wine, beer or even a cocktail then another 7 bucks was added to the bill. If you have never been in Michael's club then don't get too excited. On this ship it was next to Murano and inside the room it is very dark as there are no windows. The atmosphere is not great either. We started eating in Luminae but after many complaints, not just from us, we moved to the Blu Restaurant which was much better and we ate there for the rest of the cruise. We did complain but nobody came to talk to us about it. Entertainment was OK and it was what I expect on a cruise ship. You just have to go with the flow and go along to the theatre. The Officers seemed to be keeping themselves to themselves. I can honestly say that I seen the Captain once the whole cruise and did not see many other officers either unless they were having coffee in the Coffee bar. We were ken to see Israel as we had never been there before. The country is stunning but like all cruise ships arriving at a small port there are line and lines everywhere. We had booked excursions for 3 days but after 11 hours on the first day we decided it was enough. When getting off in Israel you have to go through Customs and this took ages as you can expect with over 3,000 people trying to get off the ship. We cancelled the other excursions and did our own thing. I am trying to say something really positive about the cruise but are struggling. We have been on the Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Reflection and they just seemed better organised ships. As many off you are Elite members and above, you expect to be treated well but we are also Diamond Plus with Royal Caribbean so our next cruise is April next year on the New Symphony of the Seas. All the employees were friendly and smiled at the guests which is what one would expect. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. This ship is suppose to be an upgrade in the Royal Caribbean family, but seems to lack the premium tag. Our veranda stateroom was adequate although it seemed a little tight. The Sky Suites were very spacious. The inside cabins were also spacious. It seemed that the children on board were well taken care of by the staff devoted to them. The activities staff were excellent even though there were only 2 hosts on board. They, with the activities manager, worked extremely long hours and provided many and varied activities for those so inclined to participate. This was the 3rd voyage on this ship and I would do it again if the itinerary was compelling. Read Less

We love the ship. The Silhouette is spectacular. However, for this cruise, the service was very poor. (Except for our cabin attendant who was excellent!) The glasses and silverware were always a mess. The Captains Club events were a mess. The Captains Club host was impossible. We have been "Elite" Captains Club members for quite some time and this is a first to have a Captains Club host who was a total waste of time. Generally they are excellent. Just to give you one example; we asked her if she would make dinner reservations for us. First she complained. (Really?!?) "Wow! So much for that," we thought. The next night at the Captains Club lounge, she told us she did make reservations for us. "Thanks!!" We went to dinner and - she had not made reservations at all!! Wow. What was the purpose of the lie?!? The excursions were mostly quite good except one. "Sharon Pelleg," in Israel would take passages of scripture out of context and mock the Christians, mock the Jews, mock the Muslims..... Really? I think she was just mad at the world. Then, to top it off, she was defiant to the ship. We were due back to the ship at 5:00. The ship was to sail at 5:30. At 5:15 the ship called her to ask where she was. She told them she was 5 minutes away. Ha! We had waze running and we were almost a half hour out. Yes - We arrived back at the ship well after the ship was due to pull out! This was a back to back cruise for us with the next leg across the Atlantic. We have cruised over 30 times and recognize that every ship has its good days and its bad days. That's life. However, the service and the atmosphere on this cruise was so bad that we have canceled our next Celebrity cruise. We have no desire to cruise Celebrity again. Sorry folks. It's been great. But, bye, bye. The good news was - we did get lots of great photos and we are very glad we visited Greece and Israel! Read Less

We chose this cruise because I wanted to visit Israel and because we like the Solstice ships. We had a normal standard balcony room, perfectly fine, great view towards the rear of the ship and we were lucky to be on the side of the port most days when we docked so that was interesting. Our room attendant Gede was just the best, nothing was too much trouble, he was quiet, discrete and the room was impeccably cleaned every day. Entertainment Over the years we have seen a decline in the entertainment on the celebrity ships. This was no exception. Sue seemed to have a great following and to be honest she was loud and cheery and clear so most people could understand her, what more would you need. We loved the 4 Opera singers and the 2 female and one male singing entertainers but did not like the 2 cast shows, very poor indeed, what the Pearl thing was all about I have no idea, the first time we have ever left a show after 20 minutes in 8 cruises, it was diabolical. It wasn't the worst though, by far the worst was the magician. i don't know if it was because we were sitting more side on but this guy had me knowing how each trick was done well in advance of the end, i have never been so bored, i couldn't believe it was so bad. Conversely the 4 soul Dudes were the best I have ever seen on board and we liked them so much we went to the show twice, a first for us. In the main foyer next to the passport bar there is usually a good contemporary singer around 6-7 when we are there, the one they had on this cruise we didn't like at all. Sometimes we had to listen very hard to what she was singing as she had a dreadful habit of slurring her words, it was almost as if she was trying to sing jazz in a late night club at 2am after a bottle of scotch? But the worst entertainers by far were the 2 DJs Skyla and someone? They could empty a room, completely oblivious to the needs of an audience, twice on the sunset bar on a lovely lazy afternoon chatting with friends they would come up and ramp up some hideous tunes, drown out everyones conversation and just laugh and joke among themselves, as I looked round...no-one was listening to the music but now people had resorted to shouting above the noise. They weren't even good DJs in that they couldn't move seamlessly from one song to the next, they either cut off a song half way through or there was an embarrassing pause between songs, they also did this twice in the foyer but worse was to come when Skyla decided to sing along to some of the tunes, this was beyond bad, like a cat being tortured, and her playing of the flute whilst probably good had no place in this contemporary music. We loved the silent disco but sadly this was only on 2 nights of 12, with a meet and greet for under 21s most nights of which there were about 5, i hope this catches on and becomes more popular I loved most nights in the sky lounge late dancing, the DJ here was very good but on halloween night the show dancers came up to the lounge off duty, completely took over the dance floor flinging themselves around and basically forcing guests off the dance floor, one of them hit me very hard whilst showing off a leg kick, within 10 minutes my friends and I had left, night enjoyed but abruptly ended. We organised private tours and did not use any from the ship but all the ports we visited we enjoyed very much Food We were blown away by the breakfasts and lunches in the main Seaview Cafe, best we have had on any ship, the choices are amazing and the quality so good. loved loved loved the curries. Were it not for the fact I love dressing up and using the dining room I would eat here all the time. Dining room We ate all bar one night in the dining room but something has to change here. Im not a big fan of the add on sales to boost peoples average spend in the fancy restaurants, you are paying for quality food and service already, however we did have a special anniversary so we went to the Murano and it was the best meal we have had in years. But the dining room was half empty most nights and the atmosphere was just flat! One of our real joys of cruising has been meeting people on our tables and we are to this day still meeting with people all over the world we have enjoyed the cruise with. The fact that 2 sitting are worked around the theatre shows has always worked, we eat late so go to the early theatre, time for a quick drink and then dinner, we like routine, we like to dine with the same people and like our waiters to know our preferences. Select dining has ruined this. We were on a table for 10, 2 didn't show up any night at all, 4 disappeared after 2 nights to select dining and that left 4 of us each night on a huge oval table huddled up one end that just didn't work, wait staff have no idea if they have gone to select dining or where they are so can't make the tables any smaller. Select dining in my opinion is killing the classy side of cruising, you may as well all go and eat in the cafe. This also has a knock on effect in the theatre with people coming and going at all times off for dinner, distracting performers and guests alike, it just doesn't work. Some people we made friends with on the cruise went to select dining every night at 6.30, so why not just go to the first sitting, it made no sense to me at all. A half empty dining room results in less animated guests and disinterested wait staff, they are not stimulated. Embarkation took 10 mins and disembarkation took 10 minutes, the fasted we have ever had, well done team! Overall we love the Solstice style ships and will continue to use celebrity but i hope they sort out their dining options Read Less

We really chose this cruise for 2 reasons: 1. it stayed a total of 3 days in Israel, rather than 2, as many others do ; 2. Celebrity does an excellent job of cultural/educational lectures on a daily basis. Both of the lectors were excellent and well-prepared. In addition, the shore excursion lectures were informative, helpful , and interesting, not just meant to sell us another excursion, as on many other cruise lines. My best advice would be to check the CruiseCritic posts for Israel shore excursions you can set up for yourself, rather than do those with the Celebrity large bus tours. We could not have been happier with our guide Moshe Kally (Cally?)(he's on Facebook), from GTI, Guided Tours Israel. Rather than doing their small group tour of 8 up to 16 maximum, we asked for a price for a guaranteed 8 people. It was worth the extra money (not much, considering this might be a once in a lifetime experience, and all time wasted is so precious), to be comfortable in a van with only 4 couples, good AC, able to hear/understand the guide talk and keep up with him walking, etc. Activities: Celebrity should have more aerobic type activities for seniors, as well as their excellent fitness room. It's a shame to charge for yoga, dance, etc., when we have already paid a fairly good price for the ticket, but it seems that's the custom now on all the lines. Cabins, beds (mattress is good, not too soft for those of us with back problems) is fine, service and food excellent, loved the buffet. Embarkation best ever. Read Less

Wonderful itinerary. This was our 4th cruise on the Silhouette and the experiences are consistently excellent. Entertainment and food was excellent. The food in the main dining room was so good that we decided to bypass the specialty restaurants. However, portions are very small. The lobster tail dinner consisted of one lobster tail. However, more were available if requested. Any time dining was great . No waiting. Our waiter Francisco and assistant Putu were outstanding. Our room attendant Neideson was one of the best we’ve ever had. Production shows were good. Outside entertainers were excellent, as as our cruise director Sue. The ship is getting a little tired looking and should probably be refurbished in the next few years. All in all, this cruise was wonderful. The embarkation was very quick. We were on the ship within 5 minutes of our arrival. Debarkation was also very quick and organized. We will definitely be back. Read Less
