Exceeded our expectations from embarkation to debarkation. Crews are very friendly and helpful. You don’t get hungry as lots of yummy foods on board and lots of sporting activities you can do on board to ensure you don’t get extra kg while indulging with lots of good variety of foods. Medallion class made everything on board really easy. They have a very systematic system where everything really works very well. We have enjoyed all the activities on board, in particular, the shows daily. Our crew steward always ensure that our room is being looked after daily. Live TV updates is also very helpful for everyone as you will be informed on what’s happening on the ship, ports and shore excursions very important informations and tips. We will definitely cruise with Princess again and will recommend them to our friends and families. Keep up the good work and hope to see you again soon. Read Less

badgered by relatives and friends to go.....would not have done it otherwise...no regrets. This was my first Ocean Cruise.....have done two other river cruises. By far a much bigger ship with much more available. Getting on and off the ship was a hassle but not unexpected for the number of people. The people on the ship were all polite and helpful. Our facilities were all clean however I did wash my Hands 2372 times....smile....We did appreciate the care of our cabin by the young lady. Very helpful person as well. The food was good, a great variety with healthy choices (only gained three pounds) and the waiters were helpful, polite and knowledgable about the menu. Liked the balcony, used it quite a bit. Having the info available on the TV about the position of the ship enroute , the weather and the bridge cam was interesting for me. I did note that the two main news channels available were only the extreme left and right politically. CNBC was good to have. BBC was good for world news. I would certainly give your cruise line a positive review and tell others it was a good experience. May go again , age and health permitting. Thank you for the experience. Read Less

We picked this cruise for value, quility, and time frame. We also liked the ports and the days at sea. I truly believe that Princess cruise line does a exceptional job in all areas of there services for cruisers who are looking for a well efficiently run cruise line. We really enjoyed all the different options for eating. Alfredos had a delicious pizza with very friendly service. Ate at the specialty steak restaurant Crown Grill, pleasant service, good appetizers, and delicious top of the line steaks.Traditional dining and my time dining was well timed and service was always pleasant and menu and deserts were of good quality. Buffet food was delicious with so many options. INTERNATIONAL Cafe had great coffee options and very good deserts, pastries, many options of sandwiches and salads. Try there yogurt parfait, absolutely delicious. Many options around ship and pool area for snacks and drinks. They have a nice gym .Offer many choices of entertainment for children and Adults. Pool ares were busy at times and quiet at times. Movie under the stars was really nice ,they even showed movies during the day at times . We were very happy and felt in the Christmas Spirit. They played christmas music, decorated , and celebrated many activities for children and adults. Loved the Singers and the musical bands. So much to love on the love boat. All i can say is try it you will love it.We loved sailing on the Regal Princess and plan on sailing again in the near future. Sincerely David &Gina Read Less

I chose this ship because of the port of embarkation and the itinerary. I have always wanted to go to St Thomas and St Maarten. Plus I love Princess. The staff is one of the best staff I have ever dealt with on a cruiseship. You see smiling faces everywhere. Always helpful and asking if you need anything. I couldnt have asked for better people. Michael and Mario were our waiters on our dining room and they were amazing. The first time you told them what you liked and didnt like, they remembered it for the next night. They took care of everything. They were funny, professional and withoubt a doubt the best waiters I have ever met. If oyu decide to take an excursion the eco hike on St John was nice, although the boat ride was long it was worth it. I didnt like the guide because he was a little quiet and hardly spoke, he wasnt part of Princess, but I liked the tour itself. Just wish there was another guide. Read Less

1st cruise with Princess and we had a hard time picking priorities! You can pick from numerous things to do to nothing but listening or reading books! Embarkation was fast and easy with about 45 min until on the ship. Our room was immaculate and we requested top sheets which were provided in timely manner. Room arranged so no one was disturbed at night with lights from the bathroom. Plenty of shelves and cabinets. Bedding was fabulous and slept very well every night. We put large TV to "Bridge Cam" and never needed flashlights. Hand washing stations were close to buffet and in hallways! We had breakfast in Buffet 3 times and dining room 3 times. One thing I noticed from walking thru the buffet was that the tables all had placemats , silverware and water glasses set for dinner! Enjoyed the relaxing dining room and the meals were excellent! I had to start skipping lunch so that I was hungry at dinner and that worked out great! (still gained 3lbs!) We had anytime dining and went early and never had to wait. The shows were different every night and very enjoyable. Movies under the Stars selection could use some better choices but that is personal taste! Formal nights we did see some men wearing black or dark jeans with dress shirts and ties, ladies in gowns, cocktail dresses, evening pantsuits, and mostly men in dark suits which all looked very handsome! Gave up on Zumba class as it was to fast! Skeet shooting was fun and International Cafe was a favorite! Tea Time was fun and held every sea day! Savories and sweats were all tasty and black tea was so good. Don't miss it! Never saw any happy hours.Deck parties and sailaways were lots of fun! St Thomas sailaway was" amazin" Can't wait to book again! Loved the "Love Boat Horn" Read Less

This Ship is nice and well maintained. There always seemed to be someone out painting on the top decks and i never did see garbage or any dirty dishes about. WARNING: We did have a huge setback however with Princess deciding to be the first ship to hook up to shore power in Norway. This caused our ship to have a power outage and fry some of the ships systems. As such we did not leave port until late, which caused our travel time to Scotland to be extensive. We where unable to do our excursion in Scottland that we book with Princess, who did not offer much assistance to rebook, often advising "sorry we are full" as we where not one of the first people to rebook. You would assume that since our tour bus was booked for our excursion, there would be enough busses to book the shorter excursions. PowerCon of Denmark supplied the equipment for the shore power which caused the power outage. Hopefully they fix this in the future, but be warned that if your ship decides to hook up to the power there, you may not be leaving on time and arriving at your next port. With regards to the fitness centre, although it is a nice gym they have set up, the classes that go on for Spin/TRX...etc in the smaller room are not advertised or talked about. You may have to ask to sign up for these classes??? not sure, but would even pay extra to do some of these activities. I do have to say though, the Service we ecountered on this ship was AMAZING. We had amazing staff and service the entire time. Dining was always available and we had pretty much no wait times. The buffet had great option for everyone and lots of vegetables to keep it healthy. We had no problem getting a table in any dining room at any time, but noticed temperature of the mains coming out was always room temperature (not hot or cold, but warmish). Some nights had great choices and some nights had nothing that we wanted, but there was always something upstairs. We did several "upgraded" dinning nights. The Crown grill was the best choice, with us going back several times (where are you going to get a huge steak for $29 back home?) and always having a great experience. That being said, we did the Chef’s Table Lumiere, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment on the food side. The tour was amazing and the app's in the kitchen where good, but the actual sit down meal left alot to be desired. I would have used the money to go back to the Crown Grill again instead. Read Less

A lot of good aspects were offset by them moving 1 of our rooms. We reserved 2 rooms that were close together and we specified that we did not want upgrades and wanted our rooms together. They did not notify us that they moved one room to th eopposite end of the boat. When we identified the error their response was that we signed an agreement stating they had the right to move us at their whim. They did not solve the issue. Much of The sports equipment was broken missing or inadequate. The basketballs were no longer round. There were no tees for the golf mat. The staff was fantastic in general with very few exceptions. The only complkmenrary beverages were water milk and juices. The buffet was great and they had a great selection with the minor exception. Of stale pancakes most mornings. Good food and service but liquor and wine prices are high. Our room steward was the best so far. Princess stopped doing Happy Hours. That means higher drink prices and fewer chances to hang out with new friends. The food menu continues to be cheapened with better, more expensive items replaced with cheaper options. Both embarkation and debarkation were superb. They were really fast and easy. Denmark was really neat but expensive. If you are trying to keep expenses Down, choose another destination or limit your stay in Copenhagen. During a December cruise to South America, gelato was $1.50, on this cruise it was raised to $3.50. Why? Princess would not sell us a wine card during our December cruise. They were selling wine cards on this cruise but because wine prices had been raised a lot, the wine cards were out of sync with wine prices. For example, the silver wine cards now cover wines up to $31 but there are few wines priced under $31 and none that I wanted to drink. That means that even with a wine card you have to pay extra to get the wine you want. Read Less

Try the Tuscan Wine Dinner - outstanding. Loved all the ports - Bermuda, Azores, Lisbon Portugal, Bilboa Spain, and Southampton. Port Lectures were outstanding. Provided valuable information about each port. Loved the excursions we took in all ports. Highly recommend Lisbon! Guest lecturer David Russell was outstanding. Very pleasant surprise to our cruise. His lectures were about World War II and the Royal Navy battles. Fascinating details. Very captivating speaker. There were about 10 lectures and each built on the previous. Princess has great enrichment lecturers, but David was truly outstanding! Productions shows were fantastic. Excellent singers and dancers. 3 new shows - loved them! Loved to movies on board. We loved having the refrigerator and the movies on demand in the room with recent hit movies. Also had our own Superbowl Party with room service and the ability to get the game on in our room. Loved it! Our room steward was also outstanding. Very attentive and very pleasant person that did an excellent job meeting our special requests. Embarkation was very quick and easy. We got right on the ship at about 11:30 and had the rest of the day to enjoy! The WIFI was just upgraded and was like having high speed WIFI at home. We loved it! We were able to send text messages via Apple iphone through WIFI so could easily keep in touch with all back home. Entertainment was excellent. Great comedian, and wonderful shows. Highly recommend! My wife and I are experienced cruisers. For my wife and her twin sister's birthday we did a family cruise on Regal Princess. The rest of the family had not been on a cruise so we went with Princess as they are one of the best cruise lines in my opinion. We found the ship to be as regal as the name. The decor was impeccable as was the layout. The food was some of the best we've had on a cruise ship (and that is saying a lot). The service was the best. Easily the best we've had on a cruise (once again this says a lot). I go on a cruise to relax and have some fun. My wife and I loved the food, the drinks, the dancing and most importantly the service. I got onto the Regal, got into a hot tub and within 30 seconds a deck waiter asked me if I wanted a drink. I expect that on a cruise ship and Regal Princess delivered. Very relaxing, super fun, amazing food and drinks. Terrific ship... Read Less

This is our second time on the regal. This time we took the kids and we knew the regal would meet at least 90% of our expectations for their first experience. For anyone that wants a good cruise it won't disappoint. It's not the most luxurious cruise money can buy but certainly way above most. In speaking with those who have many cruises under their belt they come back for the same reasons. It's not a party ship and is not geared to young families as with Disney. It's a cruise experience with something for everyone who want a relaxing cruise with above average food and most of what you expect is included. My only complaint this time was the entertainment, as it wasn't as good as the first time. Our youngest although an adult gets motion sickness and therefore for anyone who is susceptible to motion sickness, needs to be on a big ship as with the regal. I've been on a smaller ship and unless you are lucky enough to have calm seas throughout that's not where you want to be. We had two days this time with moderate seas and the regal and its size eliminates the effects of 10-15 ft swells pretty well.E Read Less

We are not new to cruising. We have been on 4 Royal Caribbean Cruises and a Disney Magic. We joined friends on this cruise. The Atrium was absolutely stunning no ship compared. Now to our Stateroom, Emerald 202. I personally chose the deluxe balcony un-obstructed view because it was advertised as having 305 sq.ft. I was so disappointed in the cabin size. It felt like the smallest cabin we had every been on with the smallest balcony. Our friends said it had a larger bathroom but I would have rather had a smaller bathroom with a larger stateroom and larger balcony. My suggestions were as follows for future designs in cruise ships. NO coffee pots in the room and is so needed. Had to go to the 16 floor to get morning coffee. 1. The toilet paper holder was on the left side in back of the toilet. You therefore, grabbed the Kleenex box next to your hand. Someone did not think that one out. 2. Washing your hands on deck 16 before dining is a fabulous idea, the bad design of the sink was germy and disgusting. They put in a vessel sink that allowed splashing on the wall and the floors the mat you stood on was always soaking wet. Try removing the vessel sink and installing a farmer type rectangle sink that is high and wide and deep, you would control the splashing from happening. Also instead of reaching for a paper towel, install the new power dryer for your hands above the sink. Please send me a free cruise for that suggestion and I will give you a great review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Anytime dining was great but even though the two main dining rooms were gorgeous and the staff was excellent, the selection was terrible. We chose the dining rooms twice and were very disappointed in the staff entertaining us and the food was very unimpressive and not tasty. We chose one drink package before we left. That was the dumbest thing we ever did. $400. for what??? My husband maybe used $100 out of it. Please offer more drink packages. It was a total bait and switch. I thought the ship was very clean exception of the sinks by Deck 16. Our cabin stewardess was fantastic and even though we paid a gratuity upfront, we opted to enhance her tip. We also took advantage of the oven baked pizza restaurant and enjoyed meeting Maria from the Ukraine. She was so professional and fabulous. We were so impressed with her we opted to choose this restaurant again (the night before we departed), I asked for Maria again and gave her an additional tip. When you are impressed you want to let them know how well they have done. 1. We did not go on our first shore excursion in the Dominican Republic and we were happy we chose that because others told us it was terribly impoverished and we would have not enjoyed it. 2. St. Thomas 5 hour catamaran was fantastic, entertaining, wonderful picnic lunch. Bad beach with rocks and seaweed in the ocean. Not my kind of beach. 3. St. Martin. Excursion stood in direct sun for 45 minutes because the bus was not available yet. Had to walk one mile to the bus. Nice bus, great MC on the bus, great driver on the bus but so pathetically impoverished neighborhood on the way to the French side made us feel so sad for the people on that Island. Got off the bus and the lady said "you have one hour to shop and tour on your own" Right NO WRONG, we did not want to get lost, we did not speak French so we waited around to get on the fairly that took us past the rich and famous yachts. Very sad to see people so poor and so rich. Glad we live in the states. The tour folks were entertaining but we had bad taste seeing too completely different ways of living on one Island. It just is not a fair world. There were people with canes an elderly standing in that sun with 2 trollies total that took folks to the bus. Princess needs to address this with the shore excursion folks. If could mean the matter of life or death to someone in that sun. Read Less

We received a good promotional price for the cruise about 6 months prior. To we took advantage of it since I wanted to go cruising on the biggest ship on the Princess Cruise line. Ship was ok and laid out well. Yet I still like the smaller ships like the Emerald and the Caribbean Princess. The ship just seem so big especially when your used to being on smaller ships. Enjoyed a special wine tasting dinner at Sabitini's Restaurant which we met some new friends that where from our state. Many shore excursions available to go to and do but many days we just stayed and enjoyed the various activities on board. This ship is better accommodating with lounge chairs to sunbathe or watch the big movie screen on the 16th deck. Food was good and plentiful as either your choice of buffet or anytime dinning for dinner meal. Was a good cruise yet I liked the smaller ships better. Read Less

We booked this cruise because of it's itinerar, and having never sailed on the Regal. As we usually sail the smaller Princess ships out of the West Coast. Embarkation was efficient, and our 11:00 am. Priority Boarding allowed us to be on the Regal in time for lunch at Alfredo's Pizzeria. Luggage was deliver to our stateroom by 3:00 pm. Our stateroom attendant. Alex, was very efficient and made sure our special requests were met. Although the Regal carries almost 4000 passengers, it never seemed crowded, as there were many different venues and activities throughout the ship. The MDR staff were generally efficient, although one evening our MDR waiter, Piano, seemed overwhelmed, because both he and his assistant waiter, Darko, were new sailing on the Regal, and not too familiar with the layout of the dining room to pick up the food from the kitchen. We had, as requested, 5:30 pm Traditional dining, table for two, and the early searing allowed plenty of time for us to attend either early or late evening performances in the Princess Theater (at the other end of the ship). Service, variety and quality of food in MDR was generally excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Alfredo's Pizzaria was a good option for enjoying a pizza, salads, or light pasta dishes, throughout the day. There was a good variety of sandwiches, soups, deserts, coffees, teas, at the International Cafe offered 24 hours per day. The Horizon Court Buffet, had quite a bit of variety of American, European, and ethnic foods throughout the day. We noted that many foods offered in regular and "salt free". Certain foods could be cooked to order. The Horizon Court Bistro offered lighter fare. Many cookies and deserts offered "sugar free". Good for passengers with high blood pressure, heart problems, or diabetes. Many cookies and deserts offered "nut free" for those with nut allergies, and separated on opposite sides of the buffet. The HC never seemed crowded, with plenty of seating, and the service staff were friendly, continually offering juice, coffee, and tea and cleared the tables quickly. We did not try the speciality restaurants, or the Trident Grill for burgers, hot dogs, or fries. The evening entertainment in the Princess Theater was excellent, with big production "Las Vegas" style performances of Bravo, Fireo, Rock and Roll. Other evenings, a stand up comedian, and modern music singer, pianist, guitar performer. The Princess Theater fills up quickly, so allow at least 30 minutes before showtime to get good seats. Ushers were there to discourage "seat hogs", and available to find you seats. Bar service staff were available to take your drink orders. However, there are no folding tables attached to the seats, like other Princess Theaters on the mid size ships (Star, Crown, Golden,) that we've sailed on, to allow setting down your drink. This seemed to be an oversight to the modern design of Regal's Princess Theater. Enrichment programs on this cruise included talks on pirates, and on bushcraft and survival skills. I found both programs to be enjoyable and interesting. We attended only a few trivia game shows, of which there were many. Zumba was offered on sea days. Venue was outside on the Sports Deck. Fitness Center was well used by passengers, days, and evenings. Fitness trainers were helpful and knowledgeable. We did not use the spa or spa services. The public seating areas were plentiful, and we never had a problem finding a quiet place to sit and read a book, or have a conversation. As I have stated, the ship and public areas never seemed crowded. Debarkation was efficient and quick. We chose to debark as "Walk Off" passengers with our luggage. We were off the ship and through customs, in 10 minutes. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed sailing on the Regal Princess, and we've already booked cruises sailing on her and sister ship, Royal for 2017 and 2018. Read Less

We had sailed on the Royal Princess and loved it. This ship was very similar but the service was a little inconsistent. Some of the crew were very accommodating and projected a desire to serve. Others, like in Horizon Court, not so much. Lots of great music and fun diversions were offered. Afternoon tea was the main disappointment because it was so rushed. The staff just wanted to dump items on your tiny plate to fill it and be done. They are clueless, lacking understanding of the purpose of this traditional respite which should feel elegant and relaxed. Then, they almost got annoyed if you asked for a second cup at a point they wanted you to be done. Our favorite experience was the Chef's Table. This experience exceeded our expectations in every respect although they were not generous in pouring wine during dinner, they did serve seconds of champagne with hours d'oevres and there was a dessert wine (which I do not drink) as well as limoncello, so they were not stingy. Everything else was exceptional. The food was exquisitely presented, every dish perfection. Both the Executive Chef and Maitre D were personable and fun, making us feel welcome, comfortable, and valued. This should not be missed if you enjoy this sort of thing. The Crowne Grill was also excellent and in my opinion worth the surcharge, but make reservations early in the cruise-do not wait until the night before because they will be booked. The fitness room could be busy but I always had access to a treadmill. The 17th deck "track" was very pleasant on our sea day which was sunny so I enjoyed zooming around to complete a 5k-22 laps went quicker than expected. I would definitely sail on the Regal again, but due to the inconsistent service, would prefer the Royal. This is not the first time I felt a Princess crew needed training in providing an exceptional level of service...and they claim to be consummate hosts... Read Less

We wanted to do a New England cruise, and stops in Newport and Boston were mandatory. This was the only cruise that visited both ports and worked well with our wallet and schedule. Trying Princess was also a plus, since our other cruises have been on Celebrity and we wanted to try something different. There were interesting pluses and minuses between the Celebrity and Princess experiences. Bottom line, we'd be comfortable doing Princess again if the itinerary and timing were better for us. About this particular cruise, loved visiting NYC (flew in several days early). Newport, Boston, and Bar Harbor were great, Halifax was good, and St John was so-so. The Regal Princess was very clean and friendly, well staffed, with great public areas (except the public restrooms which, oddly, were very small, very poorly designed, and not cleaned often enough). There could have been more indoor activities/entertainment scheduled, particularly since it was too cold and windy to get much use of the outside amenities, which looked to be very, very nice. Embarkation was a little slow, disorganized, and tedious, but our cabin was ready immediately! Every other cruise we've had to wait 1-3 hours. Disembarkation was a dream come true. When we got off it was 9:30, more than half way through the process, and they were only 10 minutes behind schedule. Signage for luggage and customs was great, lines were very short. And, believe it or not, there were Princess employees everywhere inside and outside the terminal all smiling, all ready to answer any questions or assist with any problems. Certainly the most pleasant experience, by far, I've ever had leaving after a cruise. Read Less

Our room was a balcony room with an obscured view. We were never notified of this and there was again no support or help offered to us. None of the staff seemed to want to serve or help us. We would order a drink only after chasing down a waiter or going up to the bar ourselves. In the buffet area, we were always looking for someone to serve us coffee, get us table settings etc. We have sailed with Princess many times and always bragged about your ships, however there was a very apparant lack of service and friendliness of you staff. Our main table in Symphony was also great. Mariana was a fantastic server! She was so attentive, nice and efficient! The ship is very nice. It has a nice adult pool are and another nice pool for kids. Not too much to do for older teens who are not 18. I would have liked to see more live music later at night. It usually stopped around 11-ish The shows were very good. Even though the ship is very big, the layout is great and it was easy to get around . Nice walking deck. Nice gym too, Just the right number of sea days. The only thing I would change is more time in Stockholm, Sweden. We had perfect weather. Each post was fantastic. 1. Copenhagen- went a day early and it was great. Don't miss Tivoli Gardens. Go to the main marina and take a great canal tour. 2. Oslo, Norway - Amazing Vigeland sculpture park. I choose this cruise because my husband is partially disabled and stays in the room a lot and hardly ever gets off the ship. The TV system in the Regal and Royal Princess are great. Many free movies to choose from and most are fairly new movies. I was disappointed in the coffee. You had to go all the way to deck 16 to get coffee. There were no free coffee areas mid ship. By the time you got back to the room, the coffee was lukewarm. When you ordered from room service - the coffee was lukewarm. The library in the Regal was terrible. Very few good books to choose from. The theater shows were good. Neither my husband or I can get in the sun so we were disappointed there was no place to get out of the sun by the pools. There should have been a covered pool area. You had to pay extra to get a comfortable (cushioned) seat. Even if you just wanted it for 30 minuets. The pizza was great. The restaurant food was OK. The exercise program was disappointing. Princess used to have a dedicated exercise instructor who had different (free) programs everyday and you felt part of a group. The instructor gave you tickets every time you exercised and you could get a prize at the end. The only free programs were at 7:00 and 7:30 am. The Zumba classes were free but held in the sun and not private. Disappointed that there are so many extra charges to cruise ships now and the tips have increased. Read Less

We sailed on the Regal Princess for their Spring Break cruise from March 20 - 27, 2016 to the Western Caribbean. We arrived around 10 am and were in the top 50 - 75 passengers waiting to get on the ship. They opened the doors at 11 am and took the Princess Platinum guest first, then the regular line. We had a little hiccup when we got to the counter and were delayed about 45 minutes because I brought the wrong passport for my wife. My heart stopped beating for a few minutes, while my 11 year old started crying. I felt about as low as you could at this time. However, the Princess rep at the counter told us not to panic and very calmly walked us over to an office at the end of the counter. I called a family friend and he was able to retrieve her birth certificate at our house and faxed it to the Princess rep at the office. After they received her birth certificate we were on the ship within 10 minutes. This ship is beautiful with ample space for everyone. We took the advice of other Cruise Critic members and bought a case of water from the local Costco, tape a luggage tag to the water and checked in on with our luggage. After boarding, we were still a little stressed out from our near miss experience and went straight to Alfredo's Pizzeria. My son has food allergies to all diary and nut ingredients and the head waiter went out of his way to make sure his food did not get cross-contaminated. The pizza and other food are great at this place. After eating, we were able to go access the our room after 1 pm. We stayed in a mini-suite on the Riviera deck, R518. The room was very spacious and provided plenty of room for the four of us. The balcony was very small, as noted by other previous cruisers. I liked the set up for the Pullman bed out of the ceiling for my son. I liked having a bigger bathroom with plenty of counter space. The bathtub/shower was very nice with plenty of room to move around. Our room steward was always around and very friendly. We noticed they did not make towel animals for the kids. We asked our room steward and she stated she did not know how to make them. She found someone to show her and made an animal for our kids on the 3rd night of the cruise. After figuring out the layout of the ship, the lack of a center stairwell did not affect us. The biggest challenge was learning if you use the rear stairs or elevators, deck 7 is the main floor and going back and forth on the ship. The ship stats state the capacity of the ship is 3560 passengers, but our Cruise Director Martin advised everyone that the ship was sailing with over 4000 guest. I have sailed on other ships and this ship felt the least crowded out of all the ships we have been on. We never waited in line for food, drinks, or entertainment. In previous cruises, we had to be in the show room 30 minutes before any shows and on the Regal, it never filled up until 10 minutes before the show started. The shows were average compared to other cruises we have been on. I am over 50 and the only negative thing I have to say about the main shows is that they were geared towards very old music themes from the 50's and 60's and not current themed music over the past 30 years. I would have enjoyed more up-to-date Las Vegas type shows. We reserved traditional dining ate 5:45 for our dining time. We choose traditional dining because of my son's food allergies. Our head waiter was awesome and made sure our son with food allergies was taken care of every day. He would bring the menu for the next night to our table for my son every night. He made arrangements to have the chef make my son a special surprise dessert that was diary and nut free every night. Unfortunately, I think my kids missed out on a better experience because our waiter was very quiet and did not have any personality and the assistant waiter was terrible. Because the assistant waiter was so bad, the waiter had to do double the work and was always running behind. We ate one night in anytime dining after a late shore excursion and had a complete different experience with the waiter and assistant waiter. In anytime, we received top of the line service and entertainment from our waiter, assistant waiter, and head waiter. The food great on our ship. As noted by other reviewers, the kids Love Boat sundae is definitely one of the better desserts available. I purchased the all-inclusive drink package and my wife and kids purchased the soda package. Yes, you can buy just the soda package for approximately $4.50 a day. We took our 9 and 11 year old sons and they had a great time with other kids they met on the ship. They had a good time in Shockwaves for kids. The only negative thing they stated was the lack of time they were allowed to play with all the games they have in the kids area. The staff did have activities planned almost the entire time they were open, so there was very little time for free play. Most of the time, my kids played on the sports time, playing basketball, four-square, and ping-pong with kids their age from all over the country. The fitness center is very nice with plenty of treadmills. I ran one time on the treadmill and one time on the track. The pool area was nice and laid out just like every other ship. We never had a problem finding a lounge chair to lay on. We did see deck personnel picking up towels left by lounge hogs to free up chairs throughout the day. On the last night, we relaxed and watch a movie on the pool deck. The movie under the stars was great and I wish we would have done this a couple of more times throughout our cruise. Overall, we had a great experience on the ship. I wish our regular waiter would have provided a better experience for my family, but we still had a great time. This ship is beautiful. Read Less

We have done 25 cruises, 15 on Princess. We have done some high end voyages and some low end voyages, and never regretted the trip. Some small glitches on a few ships, but nothing that lowered the overall cruise experience. The overall quality and value of our back to back Eastern and Western Caribbean trip on the Regal made it a "best ever" experience. It started with an easy embarkation at Port Everglades on a day when ther were 7 or more fully loaded ships in port. We had booked this late, but had not realized that it was the height of spring break. This meant record capacity on the Regal, lots of kids, and lots of ships in every port. If there is no that might have tested the Regal staff, it would have been the crowds on this ship......but it seemed that this inspired great performance. One thing that is obvious is the outstanding attitude of the staff. When we questioned staff, we got an earful about the Commodore. Giuseppe seemed to be more visible than any captain we can remember. Do not let his easy going style fool you. He demands excellence! It was so obvious. Dinner, tenders, cleanliness, cabin service, and ports could have all been a challenge....but there was never a miscue. Entertainment in the showtime theatre was as good as we have seen. The band, Rhapsody, was good at every venue, with every kind of music. The ship band was also outstanding. Do not miss the performance of Bravo. Dining quality and service in the Horizon, MDR, and the specialty restaurants was outstanding. We never had a bad meal.....and not a single service experience that was not excellent. Port highlights include a great day at Princess Cays, a good beach day at Ocho Rios public beach, a wonderful day at Busbys on Dawn Beach, St Maartn, and a "best ever" day in Costa Mayo. In Costa Mayo, take the cart to town then hike down the concrete Boardwalk to the National Hotel. Great quiet beach with good food, drink, and no crowds. Ask for Lorenzo. The handling of our back2back day in Ft Lauderdale was a breeze. 30 mins in the Princess theatre to clear customs. While we were there the stewards moved out stuff to our new cabin. Everything about this ship was marvelous....on a full capacity ship. Read Less

Well where do I begin. Ill begin with Boarding which was fantastic! Not a problem at all. The staff although were ansty to get out of work and vocalized it at the pier. I didn't allow that to dampen my spirits. Upon entry we were welcomed by the photographers and declined bc we have done this so many times and it isn't for us. We were immediately welcomed upon boarding the actual ship. Left to locate our own room as it was 1/2 till the end of boarding. We entered the room which was rather spacious. There were 2 doubles, a desk, chair, and a good balcony to fit (2) people. I checked out the bathroom and it was actually roomier then I expected. Then we headed to the " buffet" where there were selections to delight every palate. The place was clean and aside from smelling like a cafeteria was a good experience. We then headed to the activities/port desk to obtain info on the future dates of adventures. We did receive a welcome bag with Princess logo on it, and activities for the next day. We reviewed the activities and then took a tour of the ship. We went from the top floor where they had a golfing area, then down to the basketball court with popular music playing, driving range and table tennis as well as foosball ( not sure if that's how to spell it) and this area was very busy with an under 21 crowd. Departed and headed toward the mid ship where there were pools, hot tubs, movies under the stars and when a movie wasn't playing there were trivia questions, national geographic info and other interesting delights. We then attempted to visit the sanctuary for adults only and were turned away " we are fully booked for the entire cruise" so I am unable to report the type of facilities available. We then traveled to the fitness center which was well equipped with latest and greatest in exercise machinery. There is also a spa with massage offerings, facials etc. This cruise they had a gentleman that offered acupuncture. We didn't partake as it seemed questionable. We then went to the bakery and looked around. They offered "gluten free" selections for those on a particular dietary regimen. We walked through the shops ( make up, skin care, shirts, all sorts of dresses, anything you forgot you can purchase here, alcohol, chocolate, and of course jewelry at duty free prices. Then onto the theatre which was sizeable to most ships we have been on. During the cruise we were not awakened with the daily messages of activities. It was wonderful. We did attempt to see a comedian during the week and they placed us in a small area which was not at all accommodating of the crowd - maybe last cruise the comedian didn't attract many but this cruise there was not a seat in the house. We wanted to see him so badly we returned after 10 pm.... Worth the wait. We enjoyed the evening theatrical shows ( pianist, comedian, dancers) with a smile as we departed. The casino was bustling and full most nights. There is a happy hour at the wheelhouse bar each night at 330 ish where you buy one drink and get the same one (2nd) for $1.00. The place was jammed each day. The entertainment was good. The hospitality was good. To the not so great : At dinner with anytime dining- we have a specific dietary need and were accommodated well. Until we went to a different area for anytime dining and they weren't able to find our order form the night before ( they make you pre order to ensure you can have your specific dietary needs met). Then the hostess says "cruising has changed and the customers don't even wear their rolex watches anymore.... I am not sure why this was a concern but the mention concerned me. Since gratuities are automatically included for each passenger no one really concerns themselves with the highest standard in the industry. They will appease and get you by with your needs .. aside from our cabin steward most did what they had to do and didn't go overboard. I will travel again as this was my 29th.... and I enjoy the settings. Each port was good Ft Lauderdale - Airboat rides to see wildlife, mall visit Grand Cayman offers a swim with the stingrays( it was sold out on board immediately) so we went with a local tour guide from the port ( BE CAREFUL- we barely made it back to the ship in time!) It is a national geographic must see on your lifetime bucket list and was well worth it. Then we ventured to Roatan which was a typical pop up with all of the shops ( Diamonds international, Emeralds international, Cariloha-bamboo sheets/clothes), trinket shops, bars, restaurants and get off and get a beach chair asap bc they fill up so fast and people save so many that we were left to lay on the towels which was ok. You can rent a water device to peddle, or canoe/kayak at reasonable prices. Snorkeling off the beach wasn't fruitful as the fish don't come where there are hoards of people. There is a sky tram which I recommend as well as the Zip line tour. Overall we had a good experience aboard the Regal Princess. Read Less

We joined Regal Princess on its June 2nd cruise out of Venice. Embarkation was fine and we were on the ship at 1pm. The first things that strikes you as you board is the ships sea-walk protruding out of deck 16 which is quite novel. Once you board you can't but be struck by the most beautiful atrium at sea; the scale of the Piazza along with the combination of all the cream and brown marble is something to behold. We got a great deal (€696pp) on an inside cabin on the week in question, room 412 Aloha deck 12. The colour scheme of the room is again creams and browns and is very tasteful. The layout is also very good, the bathroom is down a short corridor and into the left which gives a nice sense of separation and privacy in a small space. This was the fist time I ever went for an inside cabin but I have to say it was really nice and if you wanted a sense of where you were, you could turn on the webcam TV channel, something you only really think about first thing in the morning when you wake up. The rooms are very well insulated also which is a marked difference to the older RCL ships. Across the corridor from our room was a junior suite which I also managed to get a look at and which was as you would expect, really attractive and spacious. As for the staff I couldn't fault them, they were ultra friendly and this was really noticeable around the pool deck area. I opted for a soft drinks package for the week which was $49 so suffice to say I always had them on call during the day. The Burger and Pizza's at the pool deck were very tasty as was their free Swirls ice-cream; it was much better than what was available on RCL last year. If I was to give Princess one recommendation though, it would be to increase the variety of pizza's at the pool deck, I think there was only 3 types of Pizza so not as good as a previous Celebrity cruise I had been on. The layout of top deck is great, you can access the running track, the Gym, the Basketball court and all the pools really easily and without needing a degree in Orienteering. The Retreat Pool is lovely and quiet while the main pool has a huge screen for movies/concerts etc. which was really enjoyable. This is one area where I think Celebrity does not compete with Royal or Regal Princess, having no large outdoor screens which I now expect as the norm, 'Wake up Celebrity!'. Some older people argue that they don't like the noise of the big screens but if that is the case they could go to the Retreat Pool on Princess; you simply don't have that option with celebrity so I am wondering now will I be disappointed if I go on a Solstice ship again in the future and I am saying this as I would have viewed the Celebrity's Solstice ships are the main competitor/comparator to Royal & Regal Princess. So to wrap up here, there is no ship at sea as visually impressive as Regal Princess, 'End of! & no debate on this point'. Overall their food and entertainment was very good. Celebrity may still have the edge and probably does in terms of the quality of their Restaurant food and I am thinking here that on occasion the food in the main Restaurant on Regal wasn't as hot as I would have liked it so maybe Celebrity still has the edge here but definitely not in terms of the overall ship. Regal's water fountain show is impressive if short, there movies under the stars is excellent, you get blankets, popcorn, milk and cookies, sweets, pizza and they put special padded covers on the deck chairs for you. So should you cruise on Regal Princess? Absolutely! The only problem you will have will be that all other ships after that will appear visually inferior and I am thinking here of the Piazza, the Pool deck and the sea-walk which were great. If I were to redesign the ship though I would like to see a two tiered dinning room as oppose to splitting up Symphony and Concerto. Also Allegro is hard to get to so that's one thing to consider Princess going forward. I would have liked if one of the Speciality Restaurants was up where the Sanctuary was so you could look out at the world as you dinned; like the Crows nest on the RCL ships. Read Less
