Ports advertised. Dining staff was wonderful as was our cabin steward. Port excursion in Kotor, Montenegro was well below Princess standards. It was advertised as a dining experience with an experience chef in a private home. It was supposed to be a three hour tour. The food was poor and was not a meal. The food was also not presented well and would be considered a snack at the very least. The tour lasted less than two hours as well. All of this for $99.00. The port in Ravenna, Italy was 30 minutes from the town of Ravenna and if you wanted to leave the ship there was a $26.00 fee for a bus to take you to Ravenna. It appeared to be a relevently new port and offered little to do. There was very little information regarding transportation options when you left the ship at ports if you were not on a ship excursion. The staff on the Pacific Princess was very friendly and accommodating on the cruise making the time on the boat enjoyable. Read Less

We loved the smaller ship experience which only had 670 people on board. We made many friends because you see them often at dining areas, entertainment areas and on excursions. The staff is very attentive because there are less people to take care of. We sailed to Greece and Southern Italy and the ports were marvelous. We only took one cruise excursion because we find taking private tours with other people we meet on cruise critic is far less expensive and much more fun. If you only have two or three other couples on your excursion you don't waste as much time waiting for the excursion to start or waiting for people to reboard the bus after a scenic stop or restroom break. The ship is smaller and so it is able to get into smaller ports without the need for a tender. We had a cabin on floor 7 which meant we were only two floors from the main dining area and two floors from the buffet. We were able to avoid the elevators for almost all of the trip. Even the couple times we used them, they were never busy. The food was very good and the staff were excellent. We loved our balcony and used it every morning for breakfast and for a glass of wine before dinner. Here are the only issues I saw with the ship. There were a few areas on the ship that I smelled a sewer smell. I am quite picky and have a keen sense of smell so this probably will not bother some people. There were some issues with the public restrooms that my husband did not like. He stated they were sometimes not clean. The ship did not have as many activities for families but our cruise had very few children on it and catered to an older crowd. We actually liked this. The ship could not go to Sibenik becasue of the weather and this was a great disappointment to us. We would definately go on another cruise on the Pacific Princess. Read Less

We had previously taken an eastern Mediterranean cruise, which was highly enjoyable, and wanted to repeat the experience, this time taking in ports in the eastern end of the Med. We chose this particular cruise based on the time of year, and also based on the advertised claim that the Crown Princess (built in 2004-2006) had been 'refurbished' in March of 2018. We found this claim not to be true... the ship was rather tired, worn, and dated. While the public areas still looked good, we were very disappointed in our cabin, which had worn and damaged furniture. It is normally our practice to pick 'new' ships only... and were seduced by the 'refurbished' claim. We were very disappointed. The public areas looked a great deal better; perhaps it was only the public areas which received a makeover. Princess cannot be faulted, however, on service; every staff member, from the cabin steward to the dining room waiters, were outstanding. The dining experience was 'ok'. The service was impeccable, although the dining room food was perhaps not quite up to the level of the service. The food in the Horizon Court on the Lido deck was about what you might expect from a buffet restaurant: a good variety, nothing particularly outstanding, adequate for breakfast and lunch. The one 'premium' restaurant we tried was not worth the $29/pp up-charge. They did a good job in providing gluten-free options for my wife. Princess never misses an opportunity to make a buck, and one could spend a fair amount of money on various separately charged services... as well as all the on-board shopping. We didn't take advantage of any of that. The internet service was separately charged; we paid $69 for 120 minutes.... the speed was understandably slow, which we didn't mind, but the requirement to log in and out of each session using a browser (while the 120 minute clock was running) made it extremely inconvenient, especially for smart phones and things like my Kindle e-reader. One caution: using your cell phone while at sea could be outrageously expensive. My carrier, T-Mobile, provides for 25 cents/minute international roaming rates... but.... It wasn't made clear, in any of the Princess literature, but calls made while at sea are routed through the ship's own cellular service... and billed, to your regular cell phone provider, at $4.95 per minute! I only found out about this when my carrier (T-Mobile) sent me a text message warning me that I had built up over $250 in air time. The embarkation and debarkation at each port, and at the beginning and end of the cruise, were efficiently managed. We took only one excursion, to Gibraltar, which consisted of a bus ride to the cable car, and a ticket for the cable car (return transportation was on our own)... nothing to complain about. The evening entertainment was meager. There was only one 'production' show, called 'Magic To Do', which featured dancing, singing, and a few magic tricks... a lot of effort, not all that good. Other nights included a comedian (awful), and a Celine Dion tribute singer (we didn't go to those shows). The only thing I can compare the evening entertainment to, was a previous cruise on the Holland America line, which featured really superb production shows... but, then again, Holland America is a more 'upscale' cruise line. In general, we enjoyed our cruise, despite being disappointed in the condition of the ship, especially our cabin. The BEST thing about the cruise was the service staff.... in every single case, the staff was truly outstanding, from the cabin steward, to the waiters... it's one thing Princess does extremely well. We have sailed on Norwegen, Holland America and Oceania., Chose this cruise based upon time of year and origin and final ports in the Mediterranean. The stateroom with balcony and the E-Z airfare were very affordable. Embarkation and disembarkation were very organized and well done. The public areas of the ship frequently were just a little smelly with sewer smell and on the promenade deck, the smoke exposure made it unpleasant to walk. Dining and food were quite mediocre in the Horizon dining area (cafeteria), Salty dog grill -as was service. Main dining room-Michelangelo- 2 nights-same server, Rafael, and very good service. 1 night with a less experienced server , service was slow and incomplete. Specialty restaurant-Crown Grill- food and service were excellent as expected-significant upcharge for specialty dining. Except for 1 port, our excursions were all through the ship. We were pleased with all the tours although the Best of the Bay of Naples:Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri tour was time limited and mediocre lunch was the only thing we did in Sorrento. The Pompeii guided tour was excellent and the guide, Luca clearly enjoyed giving this part of the tour. Of note, The Bon Appetit recommended Greek Classics in Corfu was lovely, relaxing and the cooking lesson was fun and tasty. Disappointed in the nickel and dime mentality of the Princess cruise line. The soda drink package included only 1 diet soda-choice-caffeinated cola. Non-caffeinated diet soda was an extra charge -disappointing for a type 1 diabetic. Paid for soda package and coffee packages and did not really get near the money's worth for either. Would not recommend non-alcoholic drink packages. Can't vouch for alcohol packages.Specialty meal at Crown Grill restaurant was similar in cost ( with the upcharge) and quality to quality restaurants near home but we enjoyed the experience anyway. Excursions were more expensive than what one could get on Trip Advisor, Viator but ease and assurance of the boat waiting in the event of a delay, were probably worth it. Probably will not become a loyalty member. We will be looking at other cruise line experiences especially for longer cruises Read Less

I had my concerns when I booked this cruise because of some of the reviews I read. However, the itinerary seemed great and I thought I'd give Princess a try. In the past, I have sailed Royal Carribean and Carnival. I was very impressed with my trip and would say I preferred my overall experience on princess over RC and Carnival. Things I liked: - the interior rooms, while still small, didn't feel as small because the room had a full closet and cabinet space. Also had a mini fridge and amazing beds and pillows. - great steward and overall staff on the ship. I didn't drink much but the lines at the bar always seemed minimal. - no need to check in and out your towel which I loved because it saves you time where other cruise lines I'd have to wait in line. - efficient boarding off the boat at stops. We even got to one port 30 minutes early. This is critical because you only get so much time at the stops and you don't want to spend a while trying to get off. - wonderful variety of food. Now it's still cruise food so I can't say it was spectacular but I always found something I enjoyed to eat and felt the variety was much better then RC. -the hours of the food buffet and other dining options was done well. It drives me crazy when cruises offer food and then at certain times they shut down or only have one thing open so you're waiting a while. This wasn't a problem and in general I never felt like finding a table to eat at was a problem -super smooth sailing this trip. I hardly knew I was on a boat. -not overwhelming upselling. Yes, they had posters up or commercials and flyers but it wasn't in my face. I could just flip the channel or throw out the flyer and move on with my day unlike some cruise lines that have people hounding you at the buffet to buy a speciality restaurant meal. - the tv actually really stood out to me in a good way. I like to watch tv to fall asleep and on other cruise lines the same thing plays so much over and over. Princess seems to play the same set each day so the next day you're on to the next episode and not the same one. Certainly wasn't a ton of channels but far better then other cruise lines I've sailed. The things that could be improved: - the shore excursions I felt were overpriced for what you get. I think a lot of people feel this way on cruises but compared to RC I'd say much more for the same type of thing in my opinion. -like most cruises, limited deck chairs on sea days - no worse then other cruise lines though -wish there was a bit more entertainment on the cruise. It wasn't terrible but I'd say average and very music oriented. Overall I loved my cruise with princess! Read Less

We had chosen this cruise because of the itinerary. We traveled 3 generations including 2 children ages 7/10. The food was beyond horrible. We are vegetarian and they put meat in our food in the main dining hall. Guest Services was awful and did not even try to remedy the horrible food. The cabins are small and outdated. The entertainment at night (nightly shows) were awful. The comedian was not funny. Even my kids didn't like the Kids Club. The room attendant was nice and was the only part of the cruise that was good. Port stops were great. We didn't do any Princess excursions. We did excursions with other groups. Princess gave us no information on what do when getting off the boat. I would go to the Mediterranean again any day as it is beautiful but I will never travel with Princess Cruises ever again. Especially if you are a vegetarian definitely do not take this cruise line. Read Less

1. We had booked a cabin and the pictures on the web site did not show that this would have pull down beds stowed and a column in the cabin this greatly reduces the limited space and we should have been made aware of this when we booked back in February 2107. We could have then made an informed decision on the cabin instead of me keep hitting the bed that stuck out from the wall with my shoulder as there is very little space to pass. 2. The staff on board (not the officers in White) Did not seem to have much regard for guest’s. The staff walking through guest’s as if they had right of way and not waiting until guests had passed. Very rude! 3. Staff members siting in the main lobby deck 5 midships eating but more importantly taking up limited seating. 4. All areas of the ship need a good clean all the glass on all open areas are not just dirty they are filthy. Up on deck 15 I used a damp cloth and cleaned a circle in the dirt. On the lower decks you could see were the sea had washed some parts of the window and left strikes of dirt showing. 5. On port days the sun loungers were stacked and strapped and when we asked the deck crew to unstrap them, so we could get a lounger as the rest were taken, the crew said that is not my job and I don’t know who to ask, this was not a one off but each port day. Even the bar staff could not do anything, for not only us but the other guests who we witnessed asking the same questions. 6. Your Captains circle benefits states. Princess Passport Our special Princess Passports are another Member exclusive, giving you a unique way to record your memories of treasured adventures. Collectible Destination Stamps Every time you sail with us, we will give you a stamp depicting the destination you have traveled. The stamps are signed by the Captain and can be displayed in your Princess Passport. Gold Member Recognition Pin When you return for your second Princess cruise you will receive your Gold Member pin which you can wear proudly to show that you are a Member of the Princess Cruises Captain’s Circle. This was not mentioned or provided. 7. Drinks package. I had asked for gratuities to be removed from automatically being taken but When I questioned why it was added the reception informed me it was compulsory on all drinks packages. This is not a gratuity??? The reception showed me a slip showing that the gratuity is added and then is the very small print it says a service charge. What is going on it either is or it should just be added to the cost and not miss lead Guests. 8. On our last day on board we were told to be out of our cabin by 8am. We were told to meet at 9:20am which we did and by 10:30am we were at the Airport. Great but you had booked us on a flight back to Heathrow for 15:00 Thanks a lot……. 9. As you would imagine from the above we do not feel brand new and will be booking our next cruise with another cruise line to see the difference, it will not be a member of the carnival cruise group. 10. Generally, the bar staff work hard but at busy times are under maned and this leads to long waits to be served. Bar on level 16 to busy at times talking to each other to notice customers waiting to be served. This was a daily occurrence and not a one off. We do believe in complementing when things are right and the waiting staff at our dinner reservations were excellent very courteous and worked very hard Table 72 in the Bochecheli restaurant. Rommel and Boris. Also, the waiters for all meals On our first week of our cruise we were lucky to have NoPa (excuse the spelling) as our stateroom steward. He not only did a great job each day but went the extra mile when we explained a problem with not having a charging lead he managed to source one for us to use until we managed to buy one on shore. (Reception were unable to help in any way). Well done Nopa an excellent representative for Princess you could do yourselves no harm in employing more like him. Unfortunately, he was moved to another deck for our second week. The staff at the lobby bar deck 5 were very good especially Alex, Anthory and Philip. A very busy bar. And Francisco on deck 16. I had a long debate with one of the reception staff and finally asked to speak to a manager. I spoke with Tania Lopaz Apolinar the front desk supervisor who was very professional and courteous and sorted the problem out straight away thankyou Tania. Because of the points raised above you have probably lost us as customers, but we spoke to lots of other guests who had been on 11-15 cruises who all said the same things. If you want to keep those long standing customers you may want to look at the points raised. Read Less

I chose this cruise because our agent was able to tie it in well with a land trip we were doing earlier. It also included many places that I have always wanted to visit, and some I hadn’t heard of too. When booking we were not told it was 2 back to back cruises, but this did have an effect on the cruise. Ports included were:- Salerno, Kotor, Corfu, Crete, Mykonos, Athens, Santorini (substituted with Corfu), Kotor, Messina and Naples. Our documents told us that we wouldn’t board until 1pm, but our shuttle dropped us off around 11am. We were pleasantly surprised that they were already boarding groups and we didn’t wait more than 1/2 hour in the terminal before going onboard. First thing we notice about our balcony cabin was that the bed looked soft and inviting. And it was. Second thing, and this was echoed throughout the ship, was that furnishings and the whole ship looked worn and tired and in need of refurbishment. We found the entertainment in the Princess Theatre to below the standard of our last cruise on the Regal. Some of the guests were average, and there were not many “production” shows. Due to this being 2 back to back cruises, some shows were actually repeated and several of the guest performers did 2 shows, but with different material. Unfortunately because of the back to back cruises the menu in the dining room was repeated on a few nights. I was really looking forward to “lobster” night, and was extremely disappointed. It was small, tough and tasteless, and others who returned theirs received replacements which were no better. Had better in Horizon Court for lunch the day after the second lobster dinner night (although it was a case of very limited numbers). Drink service in the dining room was very slow, and when asking for Cabernet Sauvignon it was a bit of pot luck if you got a decent one or a bad one. Very hard to find out which one you had from night to night due to anytime dining. Our room steward, Rodney, was very friendly, helpful and accommodating with requests. We received great drink service from Cedric in Crooners. We had been having afternoon cocktails at the International Cafe before discovering Crooners and their martini menu and delicious bar snacks. For a cruise of this length, we were informed in our paperwork to expect 3 formal nights but due to the 2 cruise status, there were 4. The itinerary included 2 visits to Kotor, and 3 sea days. At most of the ports I had booked ship excursions. On the whole, these were overpriced and tended to be very similar in format, something I didn’t notice until we were actually participating. These were moderate activity ratied but seemed to involve olives and local wines. I should have looked closer, but there was not a lot of choice. We did not have tours booked for Mykonos or Messina, as sometimes it’s just nice to get off and walk around without being herded here and there. However, I got bold, and thanks to the Cruise Critic Roll Call connected with other passengers and we had 2 ports where we had private tours booked. We were all mindful of the “all aboard” times, but we had great trips and no issues with the times. Both tour guides were from companies who had claims of never missing a ship on their websites. The trips were so much better than the ship tours as using smaller vehicles meant we could go places and stop at viewpoints that big buses couldn’t get to. Due to adverse weather/wind conditions, the Captain was forced to cancel our day in Santorini as the wind would have been dangerous for the tenders. This was the most disappointing thing about the whole cruise, as many passengers had booked solely due to this once in a lifetime chance to visit. Instead we revisited Corfu (well for those that had been onboard the first week anyway it was a revisit) which wasn’t the most desirable place for a revisit but safety is more important in the long run. For those of us on a two week itinerary, we visited Kotor, Montenegro twice, with the second time being a 2.30pm departure, which was a bit earlier than we would have liked. Disembarkation was handled well, although our stateroom had to be vacated by 8am. I enjoyed this cruise, but would not be looking to repeat these ports as I prefer to find somewhere new each trip. Having travelled before both on Celebrity Cruises and Holland America Line it's not easy to find cruiseships and itineraries that might excite us. It was the second time we travelled with Princess and we enjoyed as much as the first time. The ship's decoration is older, still everything is very well taken care of. The cabin (interior) had the same usual size as we've seen in other cruise ships. The dining options are great (although Celebrity Cruises has a superb gastronomy offer) since they also offer " anytime dining". Times in ports of call are definitely the great advantage of Princess Cruises, comparing to other companies. Princess allows passengers to use both Jacuzzis and Pools by night, until cinema sessions of "Movies Under The Stars" end, around 11 pm. Many passengers watch the movies while at the jacuzzi, which is a very interesting possibility. Popcorn and blankets are also provided during cinema sessions. Only weak point was the entertainment. Apart of the "Movies Under The Stars" cinema option, most entertainment is only focused on older couples and non-european tourists. The service quality is similar to Celebrity Cruises. Considering the price and the overall experience, it's a great option for both new and experienced cruise travellers. Read Less

We chose this trip due to the itinerary. The ports were amazing and the rooms and beds and service were well above average. Unfortunately the entertainment was well below sub par. Nothing to do most of the sea days and cruise Director was almost never around. We have been on 5 other cruise lines with well over 150 days at sea and this was the worst entertainment we have ever had. The itinerary was the reason we choose this trip and that part was amazing. Nice long days in the ports and an absolutely beautiful part of Europe to visit. Staff was very helpful and the food was great at the buffet but a little poor in the main dinning room. They had a very small menu in the dinning room and it made it hard to find something enjoyable to eat. Bars were good and tipping was not necessary but because of that most drinks were weak but good. Good trip if you don’t care about the entertainment. Read Less

We and another couple took this cruise to see a large number of places as a first visit. We briefly explored Rome for 4 days prior to joining the ship. The embarkation and disembarkation was seamless. We booked a transfer from the ship to the airport to fly home - again was extremely smooth. Our cabin had a balcony - it was used a number of times - entering/leaving port, watching the coast as we sailed along, and just getting some sun. We opted for fixed traditional dinning. The food was the best food we have had on any cruise ship. The wait staff were attentive and fun to be with. The entertainment was good with many exceptional performances. We enjoyed the comedians the most. The house band was very good and we enjoyed the song & dance performances. We typically had shore excursions during the day and became tired after dinner - we rarely stayed up late. I enjoyed the astronomy introduction - some of the ship's lighting was reduced to facilitate seeing the stars and 5 planets - Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. The ship's staff had a mixture of recorded audio and live discussion. The cabin staff was attentive, efficient and very interested in what we were going to do each day. We were consistently treated as valued guests - any request was handled very quickly. All but 3 of the excursions were provided by Princess. They were well done, but some of the descriptions of the excursions and reality did not match. Comments were submitted to ship's excursion staff and were acknowledged promptly. In one case a partial refund was made. Read Less

For the onboard staff and crew, I have nothing but praise. We also had 14 days of sunny skies and a sea like glass. It was almost eerie that it was so calm. This was true across all ports we visited in Greece, Italy, and Barcelona. We didn't find out until we got on the ship that the popular 2 for 1 happy hours had been eliminated on most (if not all) Princess cruises.. This really angered a lot of passengers and was a quick way to get a heated bashing of Princess going just about anywhere on the ship. This problem was caused by the Princess Corporation and not the ship. They seem to put more priority on selling their drink package vice guest preferences. This was a complete policy failure on their part. We did not buy that package and will not buy it in the future. On formal night they served lobster, but whatever they served looked more like crawdad. It was another major area of complaint in all dining rooms. Again, this was not caused by the ship but rather th company buyers for the product. Another failure for Princess apparently trying to save money. I felt sorry for the waiters who had to field all of the complaints they got. On the second half of this cruise when lobster was served, we bypassed it completely. The ports of call were fabulous, and we had no real complaints on them. Other than the above, this was probably the best one we have done out of 8 cruises in various parts of the world. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the value and the incredible destinations. Princess offers some of the best destinations at sea. We had a great trip and I will say that Princess treated us far better than any other cruise line I've been on. They actually upgraded us to a balcony room free of charge upon arrival as a honeymoon gift. We also were granted dining credits and $100 onboard spending credits. This was awesome! We had the best dinner ever at the Princess Grill (specialty dining). The filet was absolutely perfect and so was the lobster. We left there with our bellies quite full. Also we got to experience their new luxury mattresses and they were AMAZING! So comfortable and we always got a good nights rest. Nothing like the sway of the ocean to put you to sleep. I also loved how long the ship stayed at each port (they give you cold water and a facial wash cloth upon arrival ). The pools were great! It was so nice to have a freshwater pool and not have to worry about getting a mouthful of salty water or burning eyes. A nice plus was that they had an adults only pool that was usually pretty empty! Cons: This ship needed some upgrades. It seemed like the decor was outdated and the dining rooms seemed dull. (we often asked to be seated next to the windows). Also, the included food was subpar. When we cruise we usually LOVE going to the dining room for breakfast on sea days and we went once on this cruise and were highly disappointed with the minimal selection. The buffet had better breakfast offerings, but even that was disappointing. The buffet was maybe the quality of a 2 star diner. I often felt that I was scrounging for lunch options that I enjoyed on this ship. Luckily most of our days onboard were at a port and I was able to get food off the ship (this gets expensive). The pizza station and burger station were meh. Not anything memorable. I ate at both once and it was enough for me. The international cafe was the ONLY 24 hour food option and it was bleh. There was remade sandwiches and pasta salads. Very minimal options when late night hunger hits. There were a few good nights in the main dining room when they served lobster and shrimp. Also the escargot was to die for! We were also hugely disappointed in the lack of entertainment available. We usually like to go to all the entertainment possible on our cruises. We found that we were back in our stateroom by 9-10PM bored watching movies or sitting on the balcony or spending too much in the casino just to ward off boredom On previous cruises we have had great cruise directors that get everyone hype and excited to participate in games on board. Not the case with this cruise. Didn't even know who the director was and the nightlife was non-existent. It's true what they say about it being a floating nursing home. Bingo is really your only entertainment option and it costs money. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it took in a lot of the major European landmarks that were on our bucket list. We booked it when the price was right (albeit an interior stateroom), but were upgraded to a better deck and a room with a view. Pretty happy about that. It was a great way to visit multiple cities so we could work out where we'd happily revisit, or not bother again. Embarkation/disembarkation was seamless, but not everyone onboard was getting on/off at the same time so that was to be expected. Cabin was clean and well appointed. Dining options were varied and menu choices excellent. Entertainment/activities was not as detailed as other cruises, but as we were ashore each day (apart from 3) it didn't impact us at all. We were up early and in bed early every day anyway. Stateroom Steward (Antonio) was brilliant..friendly and accommodating. We did 3 shore excursions with Princess...value for money and well run. The other 3 excursions were with another providers because they offered better value for the places visited. To be honest, while I enjoy cruising, it's all about WHERE I want to go, and if a cruise ship offers that in the best way, then I'll opt for cruising. As long as the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the food is ok (and lets face it, if I don't have to cook then I'm already liking it) then the actual ship doesn't make any difference to me at all. The one thing cruising has trumps over other forms of travel..you only have to unpack once!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary . My husband and I took our children, spouses and grandchildren (party of ten) on the 7 day cruise. My husband and I had gone on a previous cruise on another cruise line a few years ago and wanted to take our family to see some of these places. We booked 3 balcony rooms and 2 rooms across the hall. We were very disappointed in the cruise. The food was just o.k. - not as good as the food on other cruise lines that we have been on. There were no extras such as making animals out of towels, ice sculptures, waiters dancing like we have had on previous lines. We have always loved the waiters and cabin personnel on other cruises and hated to leave them. We met no one we felt that way about on this cruise. We found the crew members indifferent and not very friendly with the exception of the girls handing out plates & silverware in the buffet dining room. The cabins were very nice and the public areas. Most of the excursions were excellent. Read Less

We chose this cruise predominantly because it was convenient both in length and destination. Nonetheless, the itinerary was great and easy enough to plan shore excursions with local agents or simply going ashore on your own. The ship was in good condition having been refurbished in March last year. The beds were extremely comfortable and our mini suite was very spacious (more space than we really needed to be honest but it was the only category of cabin left available). The staff were very helpful and professional at all times and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We arranged a transfer from Rome airport direct to the ship so we were not able to explore before but we have been to Rome before. I would recommend anyone see Rome beforehand if they have never been before. Embarkation was very smooth with no wait time. We chose anytime dining but actually only visited the main dining rooms on 3 occasions as the food in Horizon Court was delicious. The entertainment was disapppointing though especially the shows in the main Princess Theatre. Most interesting ports were definitely Salerno where we visited Caserta Palace, Viestri sur Mer, and Salerno itself (having already been to Pompeii and Amalfi coast on a previous cruise), and Kotor where we visited Budva, Perast and Kotor. Corfu, Crete and Mykonos are all easy enough to visit independently although all required a short transfer from the cruise ship port to places of main interest. In the case of Mykonos, there were two choices - a 15-20 minute local bus ride costing €1 each way or a 5-10 minute local sea-bus costing €2 each way which is what I chose. In Crete, there was a local bus service from the port costing €1.70 each way which took approximately 15-20 minutes from the cruise ship port (new port) to Old Town. Sadly, Princess arranged the bus transport in Corfu for those who didn’t want to walk the long distance and charged $14 per person. We chose to use a local taxi which we shared with another couple - total cost for the 4 of us was €10 (i.e. €2.50 per person)! Again, in Athens, we arranged airport transfer with Princess so didn’t see the city before departing. The transfer takes approximately 45-60 minutes so their transfer service at $29 per person seems to be a cheaper option than the potential cost of a taxi which was estimated to be around €79. To see the best of Europe, explored Rome before embarkment, embarkment was very smooth and we were able to embark early. The cabin was excellent with a balcony that had a great view of the coastline for most of the cruise. The cabin was clean/tidy and always serviced regularly. The only fault was we were directly under the pool/bar deck and early 5.30-6 am we were woken with the setting up of the deck chairs and tables, and they would scrap them along the deck and this went on for a very long time. The shore excursion were great except on a couple we were not able to have a drink/toilet break or lunch, so at the end of the excursion everyone was thirsty and hungry. There enough pools and spas for everyone to be comfortable and the water was a comfortable temperature. There was not enough quality evening entertainment on this cruise. The service of the staff was exceptional. The shops on board appeared to have something for everyone, the pricing was reasonable. The food and service at all the dining centers was of exceptional quality. Read Less

We chose to do a 6 week cruise package as coming from Australia it is to far to come for just 2 or 3 weeks. As far as my husband and I are concerned we enjoyed our time onboard the Crown Princess we found it a much better ship than the Golden which we were on last year.. The staff were always helpful and we felt that they represented Princess Cruise Line very well...Our cabin steward was a delight and always ready to help in anyway. The entertainment was top class especially the Crown Princess singers and dancers. and as we were on for 6 weeks we did see repeat shows, but never bored. We did have one hiccup with a Princess excursion, but that was sorted out to our satisfaction. The Mediterranean has to be one of the best cruises as the weather was sunny and warm and the seas calm. We were lucky enough to be in the top 40 passenger couples for the Captain's Circle parties. so that in its self was a real bonus... Yes we enjoyed this cruise and liked the layout of the ship. we chose this cruise for its itinerary. we boarded in Civitavecchia and disembarked in Barcelona 2 weeks later. from the get-go, we noticed that the crew was extremely courteous, friendly and attentive. the food quality was good-excellent especially in the main dining room and at the specialty restaurant, sabatini's; and, there was a wide range of vegetarian and gluten-free choices on the menus. we had been to many of these ports many times before, so it became a challenge to find something new to explore. 1. at Mykonos, we took an excursion to the island of Delos. Excellent. 2. at Santorini, i took the donkey path down (25 minutes and shaky knees). one off the bucket list. 3. at Piraeus/Athens, we paid 4.5 euros for a 24 hour any means of transportation ticket. look for the X80 stand about 100 meters from the terminal. we used these tickets to ride to and from Athens and to use the metro to get around in Athens. we also visited the Acropolis Museum (5 euros). a must-see. second one off the bucket list. 4. an excellent value is the hop on hop off bus in Kotor. a party of 2 pays 20 euros each; however, the 3rd person in your party pays only 10 euros; and, maybe even less for the 4th and so on. you can try to bargain with the ticket seller. for our party of 3, the average cost was about 17 euros; and, we got a ride to Risan with admission to the mosaic museum, a ride to Perast and admission to the maritime museum and a guided tour of Kotor. you can't beat this as the cruise ship cost or taxi fare would be about $150 or 100 euros. for 5 euros, you can have a boat ride to the island of the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks. beautiful views of this island from Perast. Embarkation and disembarcation were the best we have experienced - we arrived early in Rome and expected to wait an hour for our time slot - but walked right on - 15-20 minutes - tops. Food was not so good - either in the buffet or in the dining room (we tried both MichaelAngelo and DaVinci rooms. The Crown Grill was great - as those premium dining options normally are. Teh burger joint on 15th deck was really bad - we only went once, and we are a family with 3 grown kids - the burger joint is normally a staple for them. The inboard entertainment was not so great - generally pretty rehashed. Most of the hosts - karaoke, trivia - were pretty half-hearted - although the karaoke in Explorer's Lounge on Monday night was quite good - with the hosts helping keep things moving. Seemed like most programs had some type of technical difficulty at some point - and some of the hosts were a bit challenged for english - but not for enthusiasm. Shore excursions were very high priced - so we did not sign up for any. We arranged our own (tour of Corinth and Athens, beach day on Mykonos) or just went into port and found things to do (hop-on hop-off bus, waling tour...) spending just a fraction of what the excursions were charging. In all - the locales and ports were amazing and everything we hoped for - stunning sights. The ship was easy to get on and off, but the experience on the ship was average at best. Luckily, we had only one full day at sea and had ports all the other days. Read Less

We chose this cruise from recommendations from family and friends. Overall very disappointing. The customer service was poor and many staff members were in training. The restaurant food was average after being on other cruise ships that were serving high quality meals. We were celebrating my husbands 50th and our 20th wedding anniversary. My brother had arranged through princess for there to be a bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room when we boarded and our daughter had arranged a bottle of wine to go to our room on my husbands birthday. Neither of these requests were actioned instead we received the day after we boarded two gift vouchers to redeem in the restaurant!!!! The bars around the ship very often only had the one person serving and there was a lack of bar people warking around the decks taking orders. There was a consistent stench on a couple of the decks and the toilets were very often out of order. We also mentioned some of the lift buttons were not working which stayed like this for the 14 days we were onboard. Overall a very disappointing cruise that really wasn't value for money. Read Less

This was our 3rd time on the Crown Princess and this time was very disappointing. The ship seems to be showing it's age. One entire bank of elevators was down for repairs the whole trip, the vibrations in the dining room was so bad, it threatened to shake things off the table and we had never experienced such slow service. In fact, our first stateroom A614 constantly vibrated. It was hard to sleep. Ordering a drink was frustrating. It sometimes took 15 minutes or more to be delivered, which would upset others at our table. The waitstaff was friendly, but a lot of their time was spent apologizing for things that had gone wrong. The food was good and bad. Some dishes were better than other times on the Crown but others were so bad they had to be sent back. But the one thing that almost ruined the trip for us was trying to take a shower. The water would come on warm and after a short while it would start to cool then it would stop altogether! And it was usually just after we covered in soap suds waiting to rinse-off. It would come back on 2 or 3 minutes later and it would be ice-cold and slowly warm up.We called repeatedly for someone to look at it, and it was sometimes an hour or more before someone showed up. They would turn the shower on, wait a minute or two, and say, "It seems to be okay now" and leave. But it kept happening until we complained so much they moved us to another cabin. We may cruise with Princess again, but it won't be on the Crown. This cruise certainly has affected the way we feel about 'Princess'. If you want more information, you can contact us. Read Less

Arrival in Rome, met immediately and escorted to the holding area before bus ride to ship. Embarkation was quick and we were on the ship and checking our cabin. AND yes, our cabin was available immediately. We had a inside cabin with 3 women, we had enough room for all our stuff, and enough towels! My only disappointment, was the entertainment was pretty bad - Even the headliner was just ok. She kept going flat.. just bad. - ALSO why do you use an electric piano, while putting it on a Lovely grand piano??? - really folks. Ports - Wonderful selection of ports - quick on and offs everytime. - No delays, even with tenders. Dining and bars - We had good food every night, had an amazing steak at the specialty Steak House, good service with a smile from everyone. On Lobster night, the staff came around offering more lobster to anyone who wanted that - Who does not love that! Favorite place on ship - Adults only pool on Riviera Deck Aft, We had breakfast there every morning. Perfect Over all, well tended ship, good friendly crew, and good ports. Read Less

The ports on this cruise were amazing everyday we woke up in a different county and, the weather was perfect it was a wonderful cruise. The ship was redone I haven't seen much of a difference from the last time I was on it about 2 years ago. The bedding was new and very comfortable but other then that it ship looked pretty much the same. I love princess its' a great cruise line. they have a laundry room which makes life so much easier. The food wasn't as good as I remember it being the first week there wasn't a thing I could rave about was very surprised since on the regal 9 months ago the food was amazing lots of seafood even lobster for lunch. Not on this cruise seafood wasn't plentiful and, a lot of the food was dried on the buffet. The entertainment also was just ok nothing was great. They had a singer that they called Sinatra but he sounded nothing like Frank Sinatra . The band was great . The second week the food got better and the third it was once again very good. That first week I don't know what happened. We had to ask almost every night for more butter they only put two pats on the table .There were never bread sticks they stopped putting them in bread basket which I love they told me machine was broken but, they had it up in Elite every night. The cruise was very good the only fault we have was I feel that they have been cutbacks on the food. The Crown is a perfect size ship not to large and, not to small just right for us. Read Less
