We are experienced cruisers, approaching 450 days at sea. We've been on the Regal several times, including this past January (Western Caribbean) and this was the Eastern Caribbean. Both embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. We were in our cabin to leave our carry ons by 11:15. Our selected time to leave was 8 am. our color/group was called at 7:55. When we got into the terminal to claim our luggage, both pieces were together so no lengthy searching. First the excitement. While having lunch on the way from Princess Cay to St. Thomas, the ship's announcement system blurted out "man overboard". About 10 minutes later, the Captain came on and said we should have noted that we had turned around and were racing along. The ship had a call from the Coast Guard to pick up two fliers that had to ditch their plane. All's well that ends well. They were in a liferaft and fortunately, the seas were very calm, making the rescue easy. This was our second "excitement cruise" as in 2008, a passenger jumped overboard the ship we were on. Fortunately, we were heading for our home port and a trailing ship was able to pick him up. He was drunk, got into an argument with his wife, and decided to teach her a lesson (MORON!!) Anyway, other than the small balconies on the Regal, the cruise couldn't have been better. The Medallion system is fully operational...you no longer get a cruise card. As you approach your cabin, the door unlocks. If you purchase internet time, you can use any device anywhere on the ship. If you want to make a purchase in any of the stores or play in the casino, you just touch the medallion to the appropriate spot. And there are areas in the ship where you can play different games or trivia at no cost. The entertainment was great. We had seen the three production shows before, but wanted to see them again. Bravo and Born to Dance are not to be missed. The comedian was on for two different nights. So outstanding that he received a standing ovation at the end of each show. And the Beatlemanics put on a great foot stomping show. One night in the theater and another late evening show in the Piazza. Breakfast and lunch in the buffet was fine. You can have omelets made to order for breakfast and lunch included a number of ethnic foods in addition to the normal fare The ship was spotless....the crew warm and friendly. As we first approached our cabin, our steward met us...and he had already memorized our name. Back to the food. My wife is allergic to gluten, dairy, egg yolks, and tomato. Not to worry. For breakfast and lunch, all she had to do was ask for a chef and he would go around and tell her what she could or couldn't eat. For dinner....the first night on Princess (in our experience) always has prime rib and baked potato. We ask for a head waiter who then brings the menu for the following night and takes her order. The first night, the only dessert she can have is the sorbet (different flavor every night), but succeeding nights, the chefs come up with desserts especially tailored for her...and they were all delicious. We've been to St. Tommy and St. Marty a number of times, so she browses the jewelry and I twiddle my thumbs and people watch. One other negative comment....the slots in the casino are really tight, no matter which ship or cruise line. Disney doesn't have a casino, so that's one line we'll never take. Read Less

We heard about the Regal Princess, so we decided to experience her for ourselves and we were not disappointed. We left Va. the morning before stopping for an over night in Daytona, before heading to Ft. Lauderdale the next morning. When we arrived at Port Everglades at 12:30pm, parked our car, made our way to the porters who took our luggage without a hitch and we were on our way in. Now this was our first cruise using the Princess Medallion, we had made sure we downloaded all our documentation into the Ocean Ready App before we arrived. We went through security, made our way to the Ocean Ready line and then right up to the Princess rep for check-in. He had us scan our Medallions, gave us a map of the ship and sent us on our way. We were on the ship the quickest we had ever been before! I was in awe as I boarded the Regal. We had been other Princess ships before but something about her just made me feel at home. We made our way to our stateroom, which was an Horizontal Interior Stateroom on Deck 15 the Marina Deck. Being an ocean view/ balcony type of guy, I was truly impressed with the size and the amount of storage available in this stateroom. We used our Medallion to unlock when stepped in front of it, it was automatic! We loved the fact that the door of the stateroom was on the side, it was like entering into a bedroom. I'm now sold on interior staterooms especially like this one! With in a few minutes our room steward Jefferey Quirit came and spoke to us, letting us know if we needed anything to let him know. Jeff was fantastic, he never missed a detail. Our stateroom was immaculate every time we returned. He made sure our every need was met. Everything about the Regal was wonderful: MDR service & food was great; entertainment was the best we had experienced on any ship; the in room entertainment was amazing with Princess On Demand services. Eatery's such as: Alfredo's, Gelato's and Sabatinis are a must! The 24 hour International Cafe cannot be beat! The Medallion Net is a must for anyone trying to stay connected while on board. It is the best internet service we have ever used while at sea and the best value for your money. We took excursions from the ship in St. Thomas and Sint Maarteen, they were wonderful. The only negative I can mention was the scheduling of the activities during the evening hours over lapping with the late dining hours. I think CD need to be more aware of how she scheduling the activities on board and more involved with interaction with the passengers. Her cruise crew was great! Disembarkation was quick and simple since we decided to take our own luggage off the ship having a 16 hour drive home! Over all we loved everything about the ship & the crew, so much we have booked our next cruise on her this coming November! Read Less

We liked the itinerary. Enjoyed going to the different islands. Food in the Anytime Dining was very good. Disappointed in the food selection at the Buffet. Bartenders need more training on how to make simple drinks ie: Pina Colada's, Miami Vice drinks. We had a Mini Suite with a balcony on Dolphin Deck 9. The people in the decks above us were able to look from their balconies down to ours. Couldn't even go out eary in the morning or in the evening with your night gown, becauses of people in upper decks. Princess Line charges for all exercise classes. ie: Yoga, spin, etc. Other liners don't charge for these activities. Restrooms were very small. On most bathrooms, if there were more that 4 people, you were buming into each other. Probably won't ever go on a Princess Line again. Caribbean Princess needs to look at their problem areas. Medallion setup needs to be a little more "user friendly". Read Less

First, the good...This is an EXCELLENT cabin. All balcony views unobstructed. Nice bed, fridge, big tv, nice desk and a surprisingly huge closet... And quiet! Sandwitched between 2 quiet areas...I slept like a baby! The check-in/out process was amazing, both at the embarkation and on the excursions. They know how to move the people well. Now the bad...The food at the main dining rooms was just mediocre. Presentation was good but the meat, sauces and gravys were all tastless; except one meal...I think they dropped the salt shaker into the food. The buffet was ok, became bored with the same things everyday. Far too much lamb and east indian/asian cooking. The desserts looked amazing, tasted like crap. And, the ugly...We had 2 seperate incidents with rude staff. Felt ripped off with every "lecture" being a high pressure sales job. Real people cannot affort $17,000 necklaces!!! Really needed some "beginners" training, not scheduled 2 hours long right at sailing time, maybe 3 or 4 short sessions over the first 2 or 3 days, to talk about issues as they develop. Where to go for help, how to get a coffee in the morning without paying 4.50 a cup, can we bring food to the rooms, can we bring food ashore, where can we smoke, what does "tender" look like, when I shop onshore what can't be brought back, where to go to buy an asprin...so many more questions...all the little things. Probably won't cruise again, maybe will try a European river cruise. Read Less

We enjoy Princess because it fits our style as a couple: Princess ships are fundamentally ships, not floating amusement parks. The decor is very pleasant, particularly the piazza area. The balcony cabins are comfortable, and we find the food to be excellent. Regarding dining, we enjoy the buffet for breakfast and dinner, but use the main dining rooms in the evening. We will never sail with a cruise line that does not have open dining with tables for two, such as Princess's "Anytime Dining". Particularly on this cruise, getting a table was never a problem. The food and service in the main dining rooms were fine. We happened to receive a complimentary dinner in Sabatini's Italian restaurant, and were VERY impressed. Nex time we will be happy to pay the $25 each. The International Cafe and coffee bar is a highlight for us. The specialty coffees are reasonably priced and quite good, and the snacks and pastries are excellent. This ship had the new "Medallion" feature and vastly upgraded internet service. The medallion made embarkation go very smoothly and quickly and the internet service was almost like land-based wifi in its speed. Of course it is not free, but a much better value than the previous glacially slow service. Some of the ports were new to us: Belize and Roatan. In Roatan we just walked to the adjacent beach for free - very pleasant. In Belize (a long tender trip from ship to shore) we took the excursion to the Altun Ha ruins and were quite impressed. It is a treat to be able to climb on the pyramids, and seeing a little of Belize on the way was interesting. Read Less

Having cruised "Princess" before, I was pretty sure that this would be a great cruise, and at a reasonable cost. I WAS RIGHT. Embarkation/Debarkation fast, and painless. Cabin was just a bit larger than some of the other lines I've sailed recently. Food was very good, and the buffet was OUTSTANDING. Service in the buffet was very, very good as well. BIG shows were much better than the recent offerings, on some other lines, and the presence of LIVE MUSICIANS was a surprise offering. Crew was great overall, with the only exception the wait staff at my table. They were slow, and always blaming someone else for their lack of service. (Kitchen is slow, etc.,etc.,etc. Food in the dining room was, good, but IMO, nothing exceptional. With the outstanding buffet, and several extra cost restaurants, there is no reason to be anything but pleased with the food offerings aboard this fine ship. Read Less

FEED-BACK ON A CRUISE WITH CROWN PRINCESS My wife and I took a cruise on the Crown Princess from February 25 to March 17 in the Caribbean. we had a mini suite. We had sailed with several other cruise lines before, but this cruise was the first one with Princess. In short, we have been very disappointed and will not select Princess again. A few examples: Buffet: The choice of food on the buffet deck 15 was very limited. Plastic plates and wine glasses, first time we experienced this. The chairs were dirty. The omelet making process was cumbersome. Despite the two areas on deck 15 it was always difficult to find a table in the morning. Dining room: The menu in the dining rooms was repetitive and the quality of the food was not very good. A few times we had to return our plates and did complain at the desk. Cabin: The sofa was old and not very comfortable. Bath room: No toiletry products such as a shower cap etc. The water from the cold water tap in the bathroom and the shower was very hot for 20 days. Bars: The bars like the Wheelhouse bar, Crooners bar and the Piazza were dull and the entertainment lasted only for a short length of time. We are late diners Shops: My wife was not very impressed with the shops. Very limited choice. Health: A lot of people got sick and so did we. Throat infections etc. The medical facility was OK, but the treatment didn’t help very much. Library: The library was extremely poor. The majority of the shelves were empty. Normally the library is well stocked and it is fun to be there during the days at sea. Destinations: The stop at Princess Cays the first destination after leaving Fort Lauderdale was a waste of time. Because we booked two cruises back to back, we were there two times. General impression: Not very friendly, no smiles by the majority of the employees. It was the worst cruise we ever did and as I said before we will not cruise again with Princess. HVDT Read Less

I would like to let you know how dissatisfied we are with Princess Cruises at this time. Our first cruise ever was in 2008 on the Crown Princess. We were very impressed and pleased with everything. There were musical groups entertaining at the pool as well as plenty of activities keeping us busy throughout the day. Waitstaff were always ready and willing to provide us with every request we had. Entertainment in the theatre was of a high calibre and those in various bars and lounges were very good as well. There were two seating times in two dining rooms as well as an anytime dining room. Menus were filled with a variety of delicious dishes. The Horizon Court also provided a wide variety of fine food and open 24 hours. All staff were knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and always smiling. We have introduced quite a few of our friends and neighbours to cruising with Princess and boasted about the many good things experienced when cruising with Princess. We have now just completed our fifteenth cruise, again on the Crown Princess. We have sailed only with Princess and no other cruise company since our first cruise. We even celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past November 2018 with a cruise again on the Crown Princess. So I would say we have been very loyal to Princess. However we have seen a steady decline in the quality of entertainment, activities, dining food and seating times. The ongoing smoking in the casino is still disgusting and the fact that Princess Cruises subject their employees to the second hand smoke is unconscionable. Our experience on this past 10 day cruise of February 25, 2019 may have been "the straw that will break the camel's back" and send us looking to cruise with another company. On our first day of cruising we had chose to dine in the Michelangelo Dining Room. We asked for the wine menu as we were about to purchase a bottle to have with our dinner. We requested a bottle from the menu and were told that it was no longer available. We then picked another bottle from the wine menu and were told that it was no longer available. At this point we were becoming a bit disappointed but chose another bottle from the wine menu and were told that it too was no longer available. At this point I asked to speak to the head waiter. I asked why these three wines were no longer available and was told that Princess was changing suppliers and was letting their wine inventory deplete before stocking wine from the new supplier. I expressed our disappointment with the situation and was told that he would contact the manager of wine and beverages and express our dissatisfaction. He did so and two days later this manager did follow up and contacted us and provided us a complimentary bottle of wine for our cabin. Our feelings are that "if something is no longer available, remove it from the menu" and not create any disappointment for your patrons. After dinner we decided to go to the International Café for a coffee. We had pre purchased the same Unlimited Soda & More Package for this cruise as we did on the November 2018 cruise, and as we did on that November cruise we ordered two brewed coffees. The waitress took our cards and proceeded to get our coffee. She returned and in front of our traveling companions and everyone sitting around the café, she commenced to tell us that we were not entitled to brewed coffee with this package. I stated that on the November cruise we did get brewed coffee with that same package. She said that she has worked in the International Café for three and a half years and never served free brewed coffee on this package and handed our cards back and walked away. I know who served us in November and I know the counter staff that served us in November and it was not her. Two days later while sitting in the café having a coffee that I paid for, the manager of the café approached us and asked if everything was ok on the cruise. I said NO and on his request I stated the situation with the coffee and the waitstaff. At this point he left and spoke to the waitress. He returned and suggested that we had not seen the charges for the brewed coffee on our November charge statement and that coffee was not available on that package. First of all the waitress implied that we were lying and embarrassed us in front of our friends and other patrons of the café and secondly the manager did not handle the situation very well at all. Perhaps a " let me get some coffee over here for you and we can sit down and discuss this" would have been a nice gesture. A little bit of conflict resolution training may be a solution. I assure you the $1.44 per cup of coffee was not and is not an issue. Our dissatisfaction came from how this situation was handled. On another night of dining in the Michelangelo Dining Room we were greeted and seated at a table that was not prepped for dining. We sat with used cutlery on the table for 20 minutes before the table was dressed properly. It was another 15 minutes before a waiter approached us with a menu. There was nothing listed on the menu that appealed to any of the four of us so the men decided on the old reliable Fettuccine Alfredo and the women chose the Southern Fried Chicken. We then waited 40 minutes for the food to be brought to the table. The chicken was so overcooked and dry from sitting under a heat lamp, It was impossible to cut into it and it was cold. Again we asked for the head waiter who said he would speak to the chef and someone would get back to us regarding the situation. He took down our names and cabin numbers and NO ONE ever got back to us at all. We and our traveling companions decided that we would try the "Crab Shack" dining. As our wives did not care for sea food, we inquired if it was possible that our wives could bring food from the Horizon Court into the "Crab Shack" area and dine with us. We were told that the seating was for "Crab Shack" patrons only. So despite the fact that the ladies were not too fussy about sea food we paid for four "Crab Shack" dinners. We just started to eat when, at the table adjacent to ours, two ladies entered with plates of food from the Horizon Court and sat with their husbands. Upon discreetly asking about the dining policy, we were told that "we certainly can't ask them to leave their husbands". Again very disappointing. Our favorite place to relax and maybe dance, the Wheelhouse Lounge, has been turned into a pub style bar with uncomfortable high chairs and tables. We have never experienced so much "up selling" as we did on this cruise. We and other patrons come on board to relax and enjoy a cruise not to have someone in our face asking us to spend more of our hard earned money. Before leaving for this 15th cruise we were excited that our next cruise in 2020 which would be our 16th cruise and we would become Elite passengers. We looked forward to enjoying all the benefits of the Elite category. So before leaving for the 15th cruise we booked our 16th cruise, 14 days on the Sky Princess. BUT, after our disappointing experiences on this past cruise, I must say that we are contemplating the idea of cancelling this 2020 cruise and trying a different cruise company. We were very embarrassed on this last cruise and were treated as if we were not worthy of any follow up to resolve our problems. Princess often uses the term "loyalty" in their advertising and how Princess patrons' loyalty will gain them perks. Princess should show some loyalty to their loyal patrons. So to say the least ..... we did not "Come back new". Read Less

We have cruised with Princess twice before and were happy with our experiences. This time we noticed all the cost cutting measures that have been taken. Ship was very crowded and priced were lowered closer to sailing. However, club class mini suite pricing was not lowered. Embarkation was great however next time I would not board until after noon. Disappointed with quality of toiletries, tissue, toilet paper and paper towels. Service was good and room was kept clean. Cabin was as expected but sofa bed was not comfortable and looked like it had seen better days. Club Class dining appears to be no different from regular dining as menus are the same with the exception of a chef cooking an entre, dessert or appetizer in the area (not at your table as advertised). Quality and types of main dishes is much lower. Few American dishes. Hamburgers are even compressed into a hard pattie. Club class dining is separate but not partitioned off so people from dining room were exiting our area. Service in CC dining was very good. Princess Theatre Troup entertainment used to be better; special entertainers were very good. No seating is set aside for suite class. Theaters are always crowded. No information is given about which entertainers will appear more than once until the day of appearance. Ports are good. Guest lecturers poor. Service, staff and baristas in International Cafe are exceptional. We received no forms for EZ Check or information until the deadline expired and customer service argued with us about receipt of those forms. No answer when calling room service when we did. There was no butler for minisuites. Staffing has been cut so these service personnel are really working extremely hard. Not enough waiter assistants. Bar service slow in dining room likely due to all the staffing cuts.. Back to Celebrity Cruiseline. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it had a great itinerary and length was great. We have cruises with Princess before and we’re very satisfied. Net time maybe I will pick a newer ship with Princess because Crown Princess was a little outdated... By the end of our cruise quite a few elevators were not working and with a lot of elderly on the ship it was difficult to get into an elevator. I was also disappointed that free coffee was instant coffee and it was gross. There is a fresh brew available but you have to pay for it. No big deal but I love good coffee. We did the Crown for South America and loved this itinerary! The Crown looked wonderful and the staff better than ever. Embarkation was a breeze as we are Platinum members. After a nice lunch, we were happy to see our cabin was ready and soon after our luggage arrived. Our stateroom attendant Joel greeted us and seemed anxious to make us feel at home. He would have bathrobes for us by morning and made sure we were OK with the amount of towels. We tried anytime dining for the first few days but found a table for 2 hard to come by. We met with Maitre D Sebastian who found us a wonderful table for 2 and made a point of visiting every table each night. His welcoming attitude made us feel special indeed and I believe all the tables around us felt the same. Every meal we had was terrific. We had been on the QM2 in December and this food was much better in all ways. Our waiters were great but at every meal whether in Horizon or restaurant the waiters were helpful and friendly. Entertainment was very good, the ensemble and the others were of top quality. At times, we found it difficult to decide which event to go to. Since we have been to all of these ports before we only went to a few. We loved St, Kitts with a beach trip that was looking out at Nevis. Bonaire was lovely with a friendly vibe. We have been with Princess since 2007, our first cruise. We always have great experiences and recommend them to all. We have never encountered a 'bad' cruise or 'bad' service with Princess. Yes some of their fleet is aging and need updating but they do their best. We tend to like smaller ships and have not been on their larger ones. We are now Elite with their loyalty program and plan our first Elite cruise for 2020. We will remain with Princess for the future as we see no need to change companies. They are updating all their fleet to Medallion Class which will improve the Internet Service and do away with using cards to enter your cabin and ordering and paying for all things onboard. The crew are excellent an we have never had a problem with any crew member. All are friendly and go out of their way to please and add to your enjoyment of the cruise. We book the Sanctuary on most of our cruises as we wish to be in an Adult area only and spoil ourselves with extra service and quiet location. the lounges are extra comfortable and really help your relax.n This area is well worth the extra cost to use it. We booked for the entire cruise this particular cruise. I can't say enough about the Sanctuary crew. Each and every member of this crew are outstanding. So polite and respectful. Incredible variety of well prepared food choices in buffet. Main dining room did not offer much more than buffet. Great burger and Stromboli bar on pool deck. Limited, ordinary, not so special, specialty restaurants. Free and prompt room service. Terrible embarkation mentality. Long walks to gates, up multiple flights of stairs. Wanted to try a different cruise line and I like the Itinerary. The selection in the Buffett was great. The food in general was great. The production shows were also good. What I was disappointed in ( in comparison to other cruises) was lack of comedians/comedy show. Unless you were into dance lessons, the cruise director was pretty much non existence....while I had a good time it lacked the vacation/party feel... some people may like nice and quiet.... I do it’s relaxing but not all the time. Don’t get me wrong I had a great time!!! The ship is beautiful.. I’ve been on RC, Carnival, Norwegian... I’ve had fun on them all... If you can’t find something on a cruise for you...... then your just not meant to have fun! I enjoyed the movies under the stars, they put cushions and pillows on the chairs for the movies. I did the soda package, which I thought was a good value. It also included “ cocktails”. I would also recommend the coffee card if your into specialty coffees. On February 12th I ordered red roses for my wife for Valentin's Day. They were supposed to be delivered on February 14th. At 2:00 PM they were not in the Cabin yet. I went to the Service Desk to enquire as to what was going on. I was told at that time that they did not have red roses. I thought they should have informed me of the situation before I went to the Service Desk.. Overall, we had a great cruise experience. We cannot wait to have another cruise with Regal Princess. We have cruised the Regal prior and choose the ship and itinerary to exit the cold weather in Ohio and enjoy the Fun and Sun of the Caribbean. The Entertainment and Staff are very enjoyable. We switched several years ago from Holland America because we were not happy with the changes made plus the Entertainment and choices are much better on Princess. This was our first opportunity to experience the Medallion Cruising. We found it very enjoyable even in it's early stages of use. The onboard Medallion Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. I did have to replace my Medallion most likely due to a low battery. Even though I loaded the APP Ocean Ready on my iPhone prior to the cruise and entered all the required information for both my wife and I we still had an issue with my wife's Medallion upon Embarkation. Plus the "locate" function for her as my Shipmate did not work. I am certain that the bugs will be worked out prioir to our next Princess Cruise on the Sky in December 2019. Read Less

With this being our first cruise we really had no idea what to expect. We did a bit of research and for some reason (luckily) we chose the Princess Cruise Line and the Regal Princess as our first cruise. We spoke to a LOT of people during the cruise about their cruising experiences to try to determine if we had made the right choice. After listening to countless stories about other cruise lines I feel we chose right for our first one. As one gentlemen said "You started with Princess, everything else is downhill from here". I think we tend to agree because before we left the ship we put a deposit down for a future cruise! We found the passengers to be typically older (average age was probably 70). We are in our 60s and 50s so we were the youngsters on board. The ship doesn't have the water parks, climbing walls, slides, etc that a lot of other cruise ships have. Those activities attract a lot younger crowd, and you know what? That suited us just fine! While there were some families and young kids and teenagers around there weren't many. And when young kids were around you knew it. It was not as quiet and relaxing time when you had even a few kids running around you ankles. I could not imagine a more relaxing vacation than the one we had. 10-15 years ago it would have been fun to be on a ship with these waterparks but at our ages we just wouldn't use them so why have them around? Like bees to honey, they are made for a younger crowd. Embarkation was seamless! There were 7 ships in port so traffic was a mess getting into the port. We stayed at a hotel about 15 minutes to the south and didn't leave there until around 1:00 or so. The shuttle driver (All-Star) said traffic was backed up a lot earlier during the day but when we arrived it had settled down. We didn't get to the cruise terminal until 1:30 or so (after dropping off passengers to all the other ships) we walked right through the terminal with no lines what so ever (Medallions helped... more on that later). The Princess greeting staff were awesome... the porters.. not so much (all they wanted was their tip). We walked onto the ship not really knowing what to expect it to be like with over 3500 other passengers on board. What shocked us right of way, and throughout the voyage was how the ship never felt crowded. We often mentioned to each other "where is everybody?" The ship is so massive that it really never felt crowded. We were wowed by the Piazza although I expected it to be much taller after watching videos of it before the cruise. We loved how clean the ship was and marveled at all the marble and brass throughout the ship. It certainly made us feel "Regal". We took some time to wander around the ship to get our bearings, visiting the Sanctuary (we wish we would have booked at afternoon... next time) and the Spa, places we felt we may not use but wanted to see. We were disappointed that you had to buy a package ($150) to use the Enclave and that you couldn't spend a half day there like you could the Sanctuary. They told us they only would sell 40 spots to the Enclave. I don't believe that. We had our Muster drill in the casino and made friends with an older couple during the drill who we bumped into throughout the cruise. We loved the sail away party with the music and thrill of leaving port on the beginning of our voyage. We didn't get down to our cabin until probably 5:30 or so and our luggage wasn't there! However two minutes later it magically appeared at our door! 5 minutes later, Gheorghe, our cabin steward, arrived and welcomed us to the Regal and explained a bit more about our cabin and how things would work during our cruise. He was outstanding! He straightened out our room twice per day and was always the smiling face we met in the hallway. Did he ever sleep? We chose an interior cabin for our first cruise to save some money and also we thought the only time we probably would be in there would be to sleep. We were right! Cabin C203 on the Carbie Deck was an interior room that met our needs. The cabin was adjacent to an opening which I had read housed the stage handling equipment for the Princess Theater 3-4 levels below. Some people had said it could be noisy. We did hear some music when they were practicing one day but we were hardly every in the room when a show was going on so we didn't hear anything. We usually got back to our room between 11 and 1 am so the shows were done by then. We also wore ear plugs. The room had a VERY comfortable bed arranged as a queen size. Although dark at night we did bring a night light, but also left the TV on tuned to the ships front view cam so when we awoke we saw it was daylight outside and we could see where we were. Kind of like a window, right? Many people said we were smart to choose an interior cabin because once you have a balcony it is hard to go back. While it would be nice to have a balcony we wonder how much we would have used it. I think my wife and I would have loved to have a cup of coffee sitting out on a balcony in the morning but other than we were fine with our interior room and probably will do the same for our next cruise. The money we saved paid for our excursions. The "Medallion Class" of ships was supposed to be unveiled in November but I had read they were having issues. This was the fourth cruise that the Medallions were used on the Regal. They are an awesome bit of technology and once they get all the bugs worked out it will be great! We ordered ours ahead of time and they arrived about 2 weeks before we left. Although you put them in a plastic enclosure I didn't trust that it wouldn't open accidentally and the Medallion drop out so we put both of them inside the plastic enclosure that was supplied with the lanyard. This also allowed us to put other small tickets, etc in the enclosure to carry with us if we wanted. Mine worked flawlessly throughout the trip, however my wife had issues with hers. Mine opened our cabin door when I got close but hers would not, even if she passed it directly over the opening sensor. We brought it back to the Service Desk and they kind of fixed it after the second time it was returned. The thing we loved most about it was finding each other on board. I am typically an early riser so I often times when to breakfast by myself but my wife could find me on the ship by "locating" me and it would give her a path to follow to find me. We used the Ocean Compass app a lot to find our way around the ship and the Medallion made it that much easier. The app is good but it also needs some improvements. It has message capabilities but no notification noise or icon to let you know that you have a message unless you check it often. This has to be fixed! We also discovered the Ocean Concierge app had some functions, such as showing our current account billing about half way through the cruise. We did not use the other Play apps or try to order drinks using any apps. The first morning one of our waiters asked my wife (by name!) if she wanted coffee for breakfast which kind of freaked us out until we realized that with the Medallion they can recognize who we are and call us by name. One issue is I wish my name could have been my more common name of "Randy" instead of the official "Randolph" as shown on my passport. We did not purchase a WiFi package so we were off the grid for 7 days and LOVED it! We saw so many people engrossed in their phones or tablets. Look up, look around you, and enjoy what you are experiencing! Forget about what others are doing back home and enjoy THIS moment. We found free WiFi on Grand Cayman and checked for emails, posted a couple of photos on Facebook and then we were off the grid again. No regrets. Excursions: We loved Princess Cay (Yes, it is pronounced "Key") and laid around the beach and did a bit of snorkeling. We saw a lot of neat fish and a small octopus right on the rocks by shore. Food there was okay and the tenders off and on the ship were fine. The same cannot be said for Jamaica.... We had signed up for the "Discover Jamaica" (FA3-110) tour which involved a 90 minute but ride to Ocho Rios to visit some small Konoko Falls and Gardens, Fern Gully, and an hour of "shopping" in Ocho Rios. Advise: skip it. While the tour guide did tell us history about the island on the way to Konoka Falls the down from the 1000 foot mountain was hair raising to say the least. Now this is a full size bus with about 60 passengers going up and down a one lane road to the falls. Unfortunately on the way down we meet another but coming up! They both refused to move for each other, until our driver started trying to back up the mountain around hairpin curves on a one lane road which should have had traffic control to only allow traffic in one direction every half hour or so. We were right up against a stone wall and the other bus squeezed by with inches to spare. The tour guide said that this never happens. B as in B, S as in S. You have all this traffic going both ways, it must happen every day. However, they are endangering the lives of these passengers by trying to force to big buses to meet along a very narrow road. Luckily we were on the inside. I would not have wanted to be on the other bus which was on the edge of the road with a steep drop off along its side. Further down the road a van tried to squeeze in between our bus on the inside of a hairpin curve and got stuck. We barely made it by him. My wife, and some other passengers, were getting very scared and freaked out during this whole process. No problem man, says the tour guide. We then drove up Fern Gully, another narrow road in which the bus driver had to honk his horn at every curve in case someone was coming down the road. Halfway up there is a small wide spot in the road and the bus turns around there! Totally blocking the whole road. If someone would have been coming fast around the corner they would have found a bus completely cross ways on the road. The driver inched back and forth until he could turn this big rig around. We then went to town to "shop". Panhandlers and drug dealers abound. We did not feel safe. We couldn't wait to get back to port. When we arrived back on the ship we immediately went to the excursion desk to complain and tell them that Princess should take this excursion off of their offerings because of the danger it puts the passengers into. The only rude staff member we encountered on the whole trip was the young blonde guy at the desk. He scuffed at our worries and just said that in Jamaica "that is how they drive" "No worry man". His attitude made us very disgusted. A video of these encounters may just show up on YouTube some day because I took videos and photos of these encounters. Grand Cayman was beautiful! One of our most favorite stops. We took a min-submarine ride to tour some reefs and shipwrecks. It was a nice way to see the sites without getting wet! We also visited a sea turtle centre and a visit to Hell. Next stop: Cozumel Mexico - we took a Jeep excursion to the south side of the island and I did a bit of snorkeling but I was disappointed in what I say. The last hurricane had destroyed the reef so there really weren't very many fish to see. We had a lunch there and my wife and I has 30 minute massages on the beach. Kind of nice and relaxing. Our tour guides were awesome! On sea days we laid around on the deck taking in sun and getting burned. Yes, remember to reapply often. We didn't. The one thing I didn't like was that people would reserve the lounge chairs and then not show up for many hours later. Next time, I will just remove their towels and lay down if they aren't around for 30 minutes (which is allowed). There really is a LOT to do on board. The entertainment is top notch. We didn't see many of the productions but we heard they were all good. We say a comedian twice and the Beatle Maniacs twice! If you want to see a show in the large Princess Theater at 8pm you have to get a seat early. It may be better to go to the 10pm show. We enjoyed Movies under the stars! Top running movies there and also in the Vista Lounge showing most nights. Free popcorn and blankets to cuddle up under the stars. There is a great fitness center on board but the only exercise we did was walking around the ship. Even with all the food we ate I lost 3 pounds during the journey because we often used the stairs instead of the slow elevators. My wife walked on the track a couple of days and we tried Pickleball one night on the sport court. Fun! The Princess Patter is left on your bed each night so you can try to plan your next day events. You will never be bored and it is difficult at times to figure out how you can fit it all in. Hint: you can't. Enjoy what you can. Food: I would rate the food as very good. My wife thought it was excellent. I felt it tasted okay but what we really liked was how it was presented. The dining rooms were very nice and elegant. We loved getting dressed up for formal night, although not everyone did. The staff was generally hovering around you trying to be of service. Even putting our clothe napkin down on your lap. I think we got spoiled. We ate at the Crown Grill one night (+$29) and it was worth it. It is nice place and very upscale. One place we discovered too late in our voyage was the International Cafe which served some great sandwiches and deserts. We thought it was more of a custom coffee and tea bar. We also had Pizza at Alfredos one night and it was okay, but I was expecting more after reading all the reviews about it. We ate breakfast both in the main dining rooms or in Horizon Court buffet most mornings. One thing I loved about eating from the buffet was I then went to sit out on the Horizon Terrace and ate breakfast outdoors looking at the sea or the port we were in. VERY relaxing. The buffet food was buffet food you would expect. For lunch we had burgers from the pool grill or went to get something from the buffet. We never did try to have lunch in the main dining halls. Free ice cream wasn't that great... but it was free. I have read that the ice cream served in the main dining halls is made on the ship as are all the breads, etc. No pre-made meals. We did buy a few things on board (Aloe of sunburn) and expected to pay a big premium but their prices weren't that bad considering they had a captive audience. My wife bought a nice ring. Disembarkation was a dream. We chose to bring our own luggage off the ship and we walked right off around 7 am with no lines. Super easy! Overall, the service was superb and we loved how the crew and staff was always ready to serve you. It sure made the trip relaxing and fun. This may have been our first cruise but we know it will not be our last! Read Less

Wanted to get away! Found the ship very disappointing with everything, our cabin and the steward that was assigned to our room. The Buffett were disappointing, had frozen little shrimp INSTEAD of REAL shrimp! At the pool I had a problem with moving a chair, the attendants wouldn’t help me. 730 one morning there was construction going on for an hour. The front desk was called and I was told it had to b looked into! Going away to relax and get rest, not to hear drilling on the ship! The cabins are made for small people. Murphy beds on each side. So quite difficult getting into our beds, so we had to crawl from bottom up I have been on princesses before, and was very upset the way everything was handled. I asked the front desk to compensate us for us be awakened up by drilling, ask for internet, I was told they aren’t allowed to do such, but made NO attempt to do anything. The ship needs a redone, although I c it was redone 2017. Where I don’t know! The ship is pretty large, not enough people to guide u to wherever location u had to go too. The food was just ok even in island dining room! The best food was at international cafe on 5th floor, ate there often. Not enough activities at the pool location. None in fact Read Less

We just got off this ship on 24 Feb, we have sailed about 6 times on the Regal and are Elite members with Princess. Princess in their wisdom have done AWAY with the oh so popular wine packages, and no longer have White Zin on their wine list. Well since this is the only wine we drink that left us with NO WINE for us on the ship. The wine list has become so extensive and confusing that we would not even attempt to try something else. Princess needs to rethink some of their decisons, talked to several cruisers and we all had same opinion, new wine list does not work for the normal cruiser which is US. We always bought the wine packages and sometimes 2 packages on long cruises so wish they would think before making these changes. Ship food has been upgraded or they have new chefs, it was excellent and they are even bakcing cakes that have flavor and are sweet vs the last years verson which was NO taste, and No sweetness, also not so many rerun items each day, overall food was excellent. Service on this ship was some of the worst we have ever experienced and this is our 26th cruise with Princess, crew not happy, do not even acknowlege when you say "thank you". Read Less

For the money, Princess is a great product. You have to know what you’re getting. Here is my review in Pros and Cons Pros - Nice mini suite layout. Very functional. Plenty of storage. - Food was good, not great. Very good at times. But good enough. - Lots of fun! Entertainment was great, and something is always going on until late. - Embarkation was a snap with the medallions - Disembarkation was a snap (Club Class). Off the ship and in a taxi by 7:30 - Bed is comfy Cons - Not luxury. If you are looking for luxury, up the money and go on another line. - At times crowded. Horizon Court was way too busy, no seats, etc - Pool chairs hard to come by for even 2 - Theater not grandiose and not as pretty as older ships. Crowded. - Speciality dining was pretty good, not excellent. - This is little, but bath towels and pool towels are thin and small. - Showers had no water pressure. Worst ever. We had a great trip. Did not enjoy Princess Cays. Way too crowded, not chairs available etc. Read Less

Having previously sailed only Disney {4 cruises}, we were looking for a similar level of service, style of cruising, food, style of ship. Regal Princess did not disappoint! Although instead of 1000’s of children, it was 1000’s of retired folk! Entertainment and theming were obviously not comparable, and I missed the rotational dining offered on Disney. Our room was an aft balcony just under the buffet...LOVED this location! Also loved the open closet facing the bathroom door with full length mirror. Decor was light and bright! Embarkation was quick and smooth, as was disembarkation. We used 3 Princess excursions at ports, and all were wonderful. Bungalows on Princess Cays are worth it! The Sting Ray experience was amazing... high point of our week! Price point was amazing {same itinerary on Disney was twice the cost}. The minor issue we had was resolved quickly. {slow food service in Allegro dining room} A couple cons: VERY little choice for sugar free and low carb options. I purchased the coffee card, but was disappointed they had no sugar free syrups or almond milk. Sugar free peach tart was bland. Husband’s Medallion struggled to open our door as the week progressed, but being the first medallion cruise for Regal I assume they are still working the bugs out. Was overall very impressed with Princess and the ship, and Will definitely cruise with Princess again! Read Less

Chose this cruise for the price and it’s ports. I had only travelled on Holland America one time previously, so this was my second cruise. I thought the ship was beautful, and the dining options were very good. All the public areas are very welcoming and nice. There are plenty of bars. There was very little entertainment to appeal to the majority of people during the day. The evening entertainment was very good, but you have to make sure you are in a seat a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the shows. Casino is fun, but drink service is slow to none. The biggest surprise on this cruise when comparing to my cruise on Holland America, the crew seem unhappy and are not very friendly. Our stateroom attendant was awesome, our dining room server was very friendly. But overall, you will find the crew to seem uninterested in engaging with the guests. This was a big disappointment to me. After having travelled to many all-inclusive land vacations, I have to say my experience on this cruise left me feeling like I was just another passenger. We were in R616, which was a beautiful suite. Plenty of room with a beautiful bathroom. The balconies are extremely narrow. Read Less

Just spent another trip on this great ship with all the all the amenities one can enjoy. Cabin was spacious and well appointed and beautifully maintained. Entertainment was superb and all shows were worth seeing and enjoying. St. John and St. Maarten excursions were both enjoyable and had great expanse of views of these beautiful islands. St. Maarten is still rebuilding from the hurricanes, but was warm and welcoming. Services wa as expected, although we found the ship dress much more down scale than expected especially on Formal nights. Recommend a stay a night before to ease the boarding, and possibly a stay after to make the trip home less stressful. The staff make the trip as enjoyable as could be especially the wait staff. Embarking and disembarking were flawless and took less the 30 minutes each. Baggage handling was also prompt and efficient. This is our second trip on the Regal and we would return in a blink.
