We had a midship, inside cabin on Emerald deck 8. The cabin was completely adequate and the location was great for getting to everything but at night the room was very noisy from the activities going on on Deck 7. Music was being played in the atrium every night and our beds would vibrate from the sound. I actually had to call the front desk one night at 11:45 to file a complaint and the music promptly stopped. Other nights it did stop around 10 pm. The food was very good for the most part. I did not like the large tables in the horizon court. Most people don't travel in large groups and don't want to sit with people they don't know. The Crown Grill is fantastic. One of the best filets I have ever had. The french onion soup is also to die for. Love the movies under the stars but just wish they played movies during the day instead of running the same videos of pictures passengers have taken. I think Princess has the best pizza on the seas. Love the pizza on deck 16. Read Less

The Regal Princess is a BEAUTIFUL ship. Our experience from embarkation to disembarkation was flawless. The ship is elegantly appointed with inviting warm tones of varying cream colors, marble and wood. I have been on 30+ cruises (with varying cruise lines) and this was the prettiest ship by far, I have been on. The Piazza is a beautiful space to just relax, have a drink in one of the many bars or a quick bite in the International Café or Alfredo's and enjoy the top notch entertainment. Vines Wine bar is always a favorite of ours. Don't miss their wine and cheese pairing. The adult pool and The Sanctuary is a beautiful area. The only disappointment for us on this cruise was that The Sanctuary reservations filled up completely before we even set sail on the first day. We had only been on the ship about an hour, when we went to The Sanctuary to make a reservation and were told it was fully booked already for the week. One of the highlights on this cruise was The Royal Tea. The Royal tea differs a bit from their daily traditional tea in the dining room. This tea is done in the Piazza and there is a nominal $10 fee. It is beautifully done in an intimate and elegant setting. This tea fills up fast as well, there is only seating for 30 and it is only done once during the week. I highly recommend it if you like a high tea experience. The Regal Princess is implementing a cruise industry first in the Ocean Medallion. While we did not experience the full benefits of The Ocean Medallion, what we did experience we loved. We had WiFi on the ship the entire time at sea and in the ports, a first for us. Dan the Cruise director is awesome. He is so friendly and funny we really enjoyed him. We had wonderful experiences with all the Regal staff, everyone was very friendly and very accommodating. We could not have asked for a better cruise. Yes, some of the ports in the Caribbean are still recovering, some more so than others. But this did not impact the quality and enjoyment of our cruise. The Regal Princess gets an A++ from us, for her elegant beauty, friendly staff and overall cruise experience. Read Less

We hadn't cruised with Princess in over two years as we had felt their dining quality had deteriorated. We've been cruising Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. We received a very low cost offer for our cruise so we went. Wow, has Princess been upping their game while we have been elsewhere. The MDR food was excellent! We just completed a sailing on Allure in a Crown Loft Suite. The suites restaurant on Allure was not as good as Regals MDR. We feel the Regal MDR is somewhere between Aqua Class Blu and Suites Luminae on Celebrity. The entertainment has also been upgraded. In 7 days we saw four different production shows plus three guest entertainers including the wonderful Beatle Maniacs. They not only did the theater shows one night but also did a 10pm show on the open pool deck. A full 45 minute show then as well. Princess also had a wonderful sail away from Ft. Lauderdale. As this was an NFL playoff weekend and the College National Championship game they showed all games on the large screen on deck. Princess upped the atmosphere with tailgate food, drink special prices, popcorn, etc. Normal drink prices on Princess are $3-$5 less per drink than RCCL or Celebrity. Princess also has two happy hours each day from 3-4pm and 10-11pm where you purchase one drink at regular price and the second is just $1. Embarkation and debarkation were a breeze. All in all Princess has moved up our preference order with the best MDR food, great buffet food, and a great quantity, variety and quality of entertainment options all while traveling on the beautiful Royal class ships. Bravo Princess! Read Less

Chose this cruise for the timeline, ports and the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation could not have gone smoother. Princess has perfected this aspect of cruising. A beautiful ship and extremely well designed with the passenger in mind. Our balcony cabin was compact, but how much time do you really spend in the cabin! It does what we need it to do when we’re at sea. After many years of requesting fixed dining time we have decided to change to anytime dining, strictly for the flexibility aspect. We can now fit in more entertainment and activities that appeal to us. The more we cruise with Princess the better the entertainment becomes. From the stage shows to the comedians and other professional acts they never fail to impress. If you want to have a great seat for most shows in the Princess theatre you need to be there 30 minutes before showtime. Service on this cruise was excellent. All of our requests were met without question. All service staff performed to our expectations. St. Thomas and St. Marrten are two of our favourite ports and we have visited both many times. Even with the recent hurricane damage the locals had an extremely positive outlook and truly appreciated cruisers returning. We no longer take excursions at these ports so we are not able to comment, but in the past we have always been pleased. We now just grab a cab and have them take us where we want to go. The cab service on both islands is excellent. For us Princess has perfected the whole package for our cruise requirements. Now that we are retired we have been booking at least one or two future cruises while we are on the ship. The incentives Princess offers make these bookings well worthwhile. Read Less

Weather in Washington state has me wanting to go south every winter and this year was no different except my wife couldn't make the trip. This year my sister came along for her first cruise ever and I'm sure many more after the trip we experienced. We flew into Ft Lauderdale and transferred to the ship about 11am and walked in, got checked in and walked aboard, it was that smooth. We took the self guided tour around and gave my sister the lay of the land. The Regal Princess is a beautiful and large ship but even for a first timer, my sister was able to navigate with very few issues. After the tour we had lunch in the Horizon court Buffet. Great layout to accommodate a large group and a variety of dishes to choose from much of which changed each day. The food itself was very good and hot dishes where hot and the cold dishes cold. Anyone who has cruised many times knows that isn't always the case. Service everywhere was outstanding. From the Horizon court to the servers out on deck to out amazing waiter and assistant in the Symphony dining room. We couldn't have asked for more polite and professional servers. We found Milan and Milos, our any time waiter and asst. on the first night and asked for their section each night when we came in. These two men made my sister feel so special from the attention, recommendations, running to gather out wine from vines and evert other small detail they attended to. They will be leaving Regal and going to the Island Princess so if you have the opportunity, ask for them. Our room was fine and pretty much just like all the others, small balcony. For the most part our room steward was fine but didn't see him much. He kept thing clean and beds made. We asked for thing and he got them. Laundry took a bit longer than we anticipated. The Cruise Director Dan is the BEST I have ever experienced. He does an amazing job of entertaining you and keeping you informed without coming across as selling anything but good times. We loved him. Princess Cays was another great day. The island is clean and well organized. Servers took care of your needs wherever you sat and the outdoor BBQ was nice. WE wondered outside the gates and did some shopping with locals and My sister found an Italian leather purse tucked away in the corner of this shop and got it for $20 a real deal. St Thomas is recovering and getting back to its old self but still has a way to go St Marteen has even further to go for recovery but they are working on it. So much damage it may take a couple years to fully recover. All in all it was an amazing vacation. My 17th with Princess and my sisters 1st and I'm sure its her first of many. Thanks so much to the Crew of the Regal princess, we will see you again. Read Less

OK, so this was our first cruise, so everything was new and exciting. But, we were traveling with experienced cruisers and according to them, embarkation and debarkation was the smoothest and fastest they had ever seen. We got to the terminal at about 11:30 and were in the Piazza by noon; baggage handling, passport checking, cruise card obtaining, picture taking and all! Based on multiple tips found on this site, we did arrive in Ft. Lauderdale the day before embarkation. The Oasis Hotel at 1200 Miami Rd. was excellent for our needs. Close to airport and Port Everglades, it was clean and comfortable. When booking, be sure to ask for a courtyard room! And have dinner at the Tom Jenkins B-B-Q, 1236 S Federal Hwy. You will not be disappointed, though you may have to share a table. First cruise or not, I can tell a profession production show from the "little theater down the lane" and the shows on this cruise were excellent - each better than the last. The Bravo show was an audio/visual wonder. Chelsea Coyne was excellent and should be as she is a professional. But the ship's cast was amazing - from the male lead Luke Heffernan (I believe that was his last name) to the chorus dancers, each and every one was fantastic. The sets and costumes were original and innovative. Check out the moving background in Bravo and the roller coaster in Fiera For the number of passengers aboard, 3,500 +, I never felt cramped or crowded and that includes the pools on sea days. Our cabin steward, Ernesto, was attentive and obliging. He even removed an unneeded chair from our cabin to make some extra space. And speaking of space, the balcony was more than spacious enough for the two of us to relax on. One closing remark: Swirls is the soft serve ice cream place on the Lido Deck. The ice cream is OK, you can't mess up soft serve. But if Dumitru is working, please stop by. This guy is the most happy, the most friendly, the most engaging member of the crew in a ship full of amazing people. His English is a little broken, but my Romanian is nonexistent, but what he may lack in language skills he more than makes up for in feeling and enthusiasm. Stop by and say hi to a great guy. A great time was had by all! We heartily recommend this ship and this crew. Read Less

Needed a getaway after a very stressful 2017. Have been to all ports but the price and timing were right! We did a B2B eastern and Western. Will say we felt that the entertainment on this ship was the best we have had for any other cruise. Beatlemaniacs were a blast and made the Island night so much more enjoyable. Production shows..all 4 , singers and dancers all seemed to be in sync and we enjoyed every one. Comedian excellent as was Mary Simon..singer /guitarist. Service staff consistently friendly and efficient including Dining room staff which in the past we felt were a bit slow getting through the dinner service. A couple of things we felt needed improvement, however did not affect our enjoyment of our cruises. Anytime Dining....very frustrating to see many empty tables but are told there is no room (reservations made for them) Anytime sb anytime. It is ok to have to wait but no reservations should be made unless perhaps Formal nights. Hand washing/Sanitizer stations....we had a Noro outbreak on week 2. I think, unfortunately someone needs to staff the stations to remind some inconsiderate passangers to was up!! Having said that Regal handled the outbreak with the utmost of attention and care without affecting the customer experience. All in all....great cruises (weather could have been better week 2 but no fault of cruiseline..lol) Highly recommend the Regal..and Princess...cant wait to go back! Read Less

We took this cruise as we wanted to see if we could handle the big ship on Princess. We loved it. The cruise director was best ever, entertainment was great and the food was out of this world. Been on Princess many times but not for a few years but after this cruise it really is my favorite cruise line. Went on RCCL Serenade in November, along with Celebrity Reflection did back to back to compare, then this time we went on Regal Princess and Kongsingdam back to back in Jan. Princess for the 4 of us was hands down the favorite. Warm pools, help was Happy and Helpful and the only dissapointing thing was St Martin is still not to where it was but coming along. There was two couples but we enjoyed all of the entertainment, deck party and the cruise director was the funniest we ever had and was everywhere. We ate 1 night in Steak House and all had fillet that melted in your mouth. We all wished we had stayed on this ship and not got on Holland America. Read Less

I have done over 60 cruises -on most cruise lines. This one really impressed me. Design of ship is genius. No line-ups anywhere - except Crooners' Bar at happy hour. Just hope they do NOT do Princess Cays during winter months. Weather & water temps. quite cool. Price very reasonable. Movies & concerts on big outdoor screen excellent.Lots to do - on & off the ship." Your Time Dining" could use some improvement at reception. Embarkation & debarkation went very quickly. Lots of Customs people to speed things along. There were well over 200 hundred people doing the back to back (2 week cruise). That says something. Just wish they had a Mimosa or glass of champagne for us when we got back on board. The bartenders need retraining however - or just staffed better. If I have to pay automatic 15% gratuity on all drinks, I should not be greeted by surly, abrupt bartenders that make you feel like a house fly that just flew in & landed on "THEIR" counter. Read Less

We're experienced cruisers, doing 2-4 per year. We were invited on this cruise as a result of my wife's activities in the casino from a Nov. Caribbean Princess cruise. Breakfast and lunch in the buffet...wide variety of foods available...decent quality...dinner in the MDR. My wife has many food allergies and they prepared a great dinner and desert for her each evening. The one thing that spoils our dinner in the MDR is that the dress code was not enforced, even on formal evenings. We have no problem with men wearing a jacket and not having a tie, but it's disgusting when they allow men in wearing shorts, tee shirts, and flip flops. We've been on other lines where men have been refused entry to the MDR because of their clothes. We docked in Havensight at St. Thomas....all of the stores were open but we did see a few blue tarps on the hillside. St. Martin - a lot of the stores at the dock were open and it appeared that some had been torn down. We took the water taxi to downtown. On average, I'd guess that only about 20% of the stores were open. Lots of bldgs boarded up or being worked on. The casino....for a change I won...my wife tried and tried, but the more she tried, the more she lost. The entertainment was fantastic. The BeatleManics one night, a really funny comedian two nights, and production shows. We had seen 3 of them before, but they were still enjoyable. A new show, "Love to Dance" was one of the best productions shows we've ever seen on a cruise ship. Read Less

The Royal Princess is a beautiful ship and the Christmas decorations were lovely. We enjoyed the entertainment and the New Years Celebrations. This cruise went to islands we had not visited before and we found them interesting except for Princess Cays as we have stopped there three times in the last 18 months. We booked the cruise with a guaranteed cabin and we won't do that again. We paid for a balcony and requested the front section but ended up in Marina 610. We tried to have the cabin assignment changed as soon as it was assigned but we were told guarantee assignments cannot be changed. The cabin was under the Horizon Court but we did not hear any noise as others have complained. Unfortunately, the cabin vibrated constantly from the engines. We also had more motion because our cabin was on deck 15. The Dining Service was disappointing. We have been on the Royal before and the Dining Service had declined. Service was very slow and it often took 2.5 to 3 hours to serve dinner for a table of 6. Food was served cold several times, but we ate it anyway as we were tired of waiting. We would ask for coffee with dessert and it would not arrive until we were leaving if at all. The menu choices had changed and were disappointing. We tried to order one of our favorite entrees with 24 hours notice but the chef refused our request. We had anytime dining and everyone agreed the service was slow. We wondered if it is because they Princess is focusing on their new Club Class and have cut the service/help in the main dining rooms. Read Less

Booked for a fantastic price, and fun to be at sea to celebrate New Year's Eve as well as visit islands we have never explored before. Beautiful ship with lots of amenities, and deluxe balcony cabin was great. The ship was booked at full passenger capacity however embark, disembark and getting on/off the ship while in port was very easy and no delays. We did however notice some issues we have not previously encountered sailing with Princess, so this was a bit disappointing. 1. Hygiene Washrooms in high traffic public areas near dining rooms, piazza, theatre, and sanctuary pool were often dirty - paper towels on floor, and often no soap in the soap dispensers. There were often sinks out of order with signs on then indicating "under maintenance". Previous cruises had attendants stationed there during peak periods, but no one was there this time. On embark day there was a hand-washing station at the buffet out of order and there was no staff at the buffet or the dining rooms reminding passengers to wash/sanitize their hands. Considering the Captain announced that there was a flu virus outbreak on board the ship – there was not enough attention given to sanitization/cleaning of these high traffic areas. 2. New Year's Eve There was a lot of disorganization on NYE and total chaos getting seated into the main dining rooms. There should be some sort of ticket system or pre-designated reservation time because we were told that it would be more than a 2-hour wait for the dining room. Having said that we went to the Crown Grill specialty restaurant and even though we did not have a reservation they found us a table and we had a fantastic dinner with wonderful service! There were lots of options for NYE entertainment with 4 simultaneous parties on board. Piazza balloon drop was really fun! Shout out to server named Roel who entertained passengers by pouring a martini while balancing the glass on his forehead - so entertaining and such a fun person! 3. Service We encountered poor service multiple times on this cruise - not at all what we have had on previous Princess cruises. A server tasked with water purchases for guests heading to shore was downright miserable, a server at Crooners bar was very rude to me, dining room staff were not attentive and did not engage with us at all and did not care that our food was cold or that we had waited for so long to receive our meal. The servers at Sanctuary pool and in the Piazza were very focused on clearing away empty glasses, but were not circulating amongst passengers to see if any guest wanted any drinks - this is highly unusual as on previous cruises, the servers were always on hand to take your order and help out with any request. Sanctuary pool area ran out of pool towels every day. Wish that this could have been replenished more often as we had to go to the other pools searching for towels. 5. Entertainment Cruise director staff did work hard to provide many activities and were a very energetic, friendly bunch. Music & dancing in the Piazza each evening with great bands! Princess Theater Production "Encore" was great – sets, vocals, and band were top notch. However, would have liked to see more performances from main stage singers and dancers – out of a 10-night cruise they only performed 3 times, and the remaining nights were mostly comedians – which became kind of boring. In past cruises the main stage singers/dancers performed in Princess Theater more often, with comic/magician/guest performers scheduled in the Vista Lounge as supplemental entertainment rather than headliner. Vista Lounge was barely utilized except for Art Auctions which is too bad as it is a great space. We were also very disappointed that there was no Voice of The Sea, or Crew Talent Show – we had that on Coral Princess before and it was fantastic! Main stage show times were late – at 8:15 & 10:15pm and there was often schedule conflicts with other activities – such as Liars Game, Marriage Match game etc. Previous cruises the schedule had the show at 7pm and 9pm – which allowed passengers to attend an 8pm activity such as Comedian in Vista Lounge or Marriage Match Game at Princess Live. 6. Ranjit, William & Ronald On the 4th evening of the cruise we were seated in Ranjit's section for dinner and his attentive service, friendly personality and positive attitude more than made up for the awful experiences from the previous nights. Ranjit made sure we got all the best dishes on the menu (even brought us ones we didn't order - but he said we had to try it because it was so good). A special thank you to his supervisor Mary-Anne who reserved this table for us for the duration of the cruise and as a result we had a fantastic dining experience. We also commend William and Ronald at Bellini's - always prompt service with a smile and entertaining to watch them mix so many different cocktails. Overall it was an enjoyable vacation despite the issues we had, and we would book again with Princess but would probably book itineraries on one of the smaller ships (like Coral Princess) as we had outstanding experience there in the past with super staff and service. I have always thought of what it would be like to ring in the New Year aboard a cruise ship...this 10-day sailing fit in well with my vacation plans and came at a very good reduced rate that I could afford - since I typically cruise solo and have to pay double! Also - I have been on several other Princess ships and want to try them all. I found the Royal to be almost identical to the Regal - which I have sailed on twice, and remains my favorite Princess Ship. New Years Eve was lots of fun - with 4 different style parties going on at the same time. I like option! The itinerary was more port intensive than I like...but then it was 10 days and at least the port calls were back to back for the most part. Plus I got to visit ports I've never been to before - St Thomas, Martinique, Grenada, Bonaire and Curacao. The ship was full - but never seemed overcrowded - except for sea days...but there were plenty of places to retreat to for peace and relaxation. The staff was not as friendly, helpful, gracious as they have been on other Princess sailings...but overall - it was a fantastic journey and great way to start the new Year! Read Less

We got a fabulous deal on this cruise and we had never been on a New Year's cruise. Believe me, we were NOT disappointed. Loved the itinerary, and it could not have been a better cruise. We are Elite, and get all the perks, which made it that much better. We had a Cat. BD Balcony and were on port side aft. True, it was a real hike to the mid ship elevators but usually took the back elevators and went to deck 7 that goes all the way across the ship, and down if we needed to, but being in the back of the boat, it was very quiet and that was what we like. Our cabin was very comfortable and our Cabin steward, Wee was great! He would bring our laundry and anything we wanted and kept our cabin sparkling! The food on this ship was outstanding!!!! From the MDR to the Buffet, the food was great! We never had a bad meal! My husband loves ribs, and I love shrimp and got more than enough of both on this ship!!!! The buffet area is so well set up that there are no lines whatsoever! I was amazed at what the buffet area had to offer....Great selections! Enjoyed the itinerary, but got rained out going on Martinique. Didn't care for the area where we were docked at, as you could not walk to the pier's exit and had to be shuttled. We didn't take any tours, but were disappointed that we could not walk around, like we could at the other ports. The Embarkation was wonderful and quick. We checked in and were sent to the Elite Lounge in Terminal 2, where we had coffee, tea and pastries available. We were the first to board about 11am. Disembarkation was easy and quick. We had Princess take out bags off and we walked off a little after 7am and thru Customs quickly. We actually were off the boat and on the shuttle back to our car by 7:30am. Kudos to Princess for a quick and easy Embarkation and Disembarkation. All in All, I would say that this was one our best cruises out of the 40 somewhat cruises that we have been on. We met a lot of nice people and had a great time! Read Less

My husband and I cruise frequently (mostly on RCL and Celebrity). This was our 4th on Princess and we both agreed this ship and sailing was one of the best cruises we have ever been on. The staff, ship and food were all outstanding. This was a cruise surrounding New Years eve and the festivities were great. The ship is beautiful with many areas to sit and watch entertainment in the Piazza or just sit down and read a book. Plenty of chairs outside by pools and on many decks to enjoy the sun. For adults only, the Retreat pool was great as the other pools were very busy on sea days. We only used the dining room once and the food and service were outstanding, actually opted for the Horizon Grill and the selection and food were very good. The only speciality we tried this time was the Crab Shack, this would have been the only thing we were not incredibly impressed with (but that may just be us), we travelled with two other couples and they loved it. We are not not much for stage shows so cannot evaluate that but did attend the outside entertainers and they were very good. The entertainers in the Piazza were great as well. Again overall an exceptional vacation. Read Less

With such a great price offering and the stress of the holidays and "Irma" recovery, this was the perfect opportunity to get away and relax. That is what we did. This was the biggest ship we have sailed and we found it comfortable and fun. With the exception of Princess's penchant to mess with the rear elevator destinations, we found the ship easy to get around and not as big as I had imagined. Our cabin was a comfortable balcony and we spent more time outside than on recent cruises. The cabin was very clean and our room steward was top notch. Thanks Clare-Marie. We did anytime dining for the first time and had wonderful table mates on the nights we chose to go to the Main Dining Room. We also went to the Crab Shack and to the Crown Grill. We did not succeed in eating our way through either menu. Wow, lot's of food and delicious too. We found the food every where on the ship to our satisfaction, but the atmosphere at the BBQ grill in the evening was chilly. We did not go to the production shows or to the theater entertainment but enjoyed the other music around the ship. Especially Perry Grant. Service everywhere was prompt, efficient, and friendly with the bar service at Crooners and the Wheelhouse spot on. What a crowd at the BOGO's in the afternoon. Lot's of fun there too.Although we did not take any shore excursions, we had been to all of the ports except Bonaire before, we enjoyed the ininerary and would repeat it anytime. Read Less

Pacific Princess is our favorite Princess ship: small, beautifully decorated, easy to get everywhere including embark and disembark. Princess celebrated the holidays in elegant, intimate style. The food was very good especially Christmas Day Buffet which was overwhelming in quality and quantity! We enjoyed all the entertainment, service was fine and any requests we had were handled promptly. Ports were enjoyable, especially horse riding in Dominican Republic and snorkeling on many of the islands. We especially enjoyed St. Lucia because of its lush beauty and the independent tour we took with COSOL...in 7 hours we saw much of the island, snorkeled in a reserve ( best of the trip), rode a speedboat, had mudbath, swam in a waterfall, ate local food all day, drank local beer and rum (soft drinks and water, too...the bar truck followed us!). Fantastic! Iles des Saints was also lovely: very few tourists, tidy small town, good snorkeling, interesting fort. Hoping for a repeat this year! Read Less

We booked 2 balcony cabins. I must say, we choose Princess because we missed out booking with Celebrity, our favorite cruise line. The staterooms smelled of urine. I mistakenly hung my night shirt on the bathroom hook, when I went to sleep in it, it reeked of piss. Piss is stronger than urine in my opinion. The sheets were barely changed. My son mistakenly spilled chili on his sheets and the sheets stayed on the bed 3 more days. My cabin was on the Caribe deck, deck 10. The laundry room must have experienced a leak because every evening the floors were wet and quite naturally it began to smell of mildew. It was very difficult to charge our devices, the outlets barely worked, at least consistently. We had 3 formal nights of dining, which meant we had to dress accordingly, so we did. All dressed up to eat what the Little Rascals referred to as mush. The food could have been feed to the malnourished animals on the islands we visited. The food on the lido deck was not much better, but at least we could manage a halfway decent breakfast. I ate Cheerios, Grape Nuts and bananas. I did manage to have a triangular shaped hash brown, egg over easy and crisp bacon on a couple of mornings, thank goodness. The third formal night we were treated to a dish referred to as “Lobster 3 ways. “ Well, what we received was lobster one way, nasty and tasteless. Seriously they didn’t even try, another way to keep overhead low. Now let’s move on to the service. Disembarking the ship when we were in port, the attendants were rude. Just to be clear, there was a noticeable difference in the way I was treated versus the way people with less melanin was treated. Take that anyway you want to. The funny thing is that the people of color that I encountered basically experienced the same treatment, coincidental, doubt it. Now let’s talk a bit about the activities and entertainment. There was BINGO, steel pan drums, ice sculpting, drink mixing, mahjong, western line dancing, do I need to go on ? There was a tribute to Whitney Houston, the height of activities for me. I heard it mentioned that Princess can offer better prices because they have less overhead. That makes sense because everything they offer is sub par. They claimed to have spent all this money when the ship was in dry dock. I believe they said 28 million. I think that was a mistake. It was probably like 28 dollars. Save your money and cruise another line. Cruising with Princess is money wasted. Quite frankly, this experience has left an indelible first impression. No Mas, No Mas. Read Less

My experience with princess was one of the worst travel experiences i have ever had. It was my first experience with princess, and i will never patronize them again, and i will vociferously encourage others to avoid princess at all costs. I will be publishing this report to every relevant travel portal. Starting with the Ports visited: The ports were not bad choices, however port days were far too short except for curação. there wasn't enough time in each port to have a chance to walk around and have a chance to get to know the place. Excursions offered by princess were extremely limited and obscenely overpriced. i did not purchase any of princess' excursions. Trinidad was a hazard. i attempted to walk out into trinidad, as i had done with every other port, just to spend some time getting to know a little of the place. shortly into my walk i was stopped by a secret service police officer, who showed me her badge, and begged me to please turn around and go back to the ship and not continue walking, as i was walking into a death trap. i learned that a day or two prior to our arrival in trinidad, someone had been shot to death in the street of the city proper - near the port where we docked. Essentially, by running on only one engine and stopping in a port that was already known to be highly dangerous, princess was putting everyone at extreme risk. no warnings were announced at any time regarding these conditions in trinidad. It rained at every port, yet princess refused to provide umbrellas. The ship: We were running on only one engine for the entire journey. this caused the ship to suffer imbalance in the water. This fact was not shared with passengers. this was a fact that should have been shared with passengers as it is a hazard to run the ship on only one engine. princess is legally required to run ships and any equipment under the most stringent requirements of safety. running a 14 day journey on only one engine in international waters was extreme negligence on the part of the princess cruise company. We experienced extreme turbulence on the ship throughout journey, to the point that a man was thrown down and hit his head against a wall because of the rocking of the boat. Crew moved him into a seated position, which i understand was just an effort to try to help, but i have always been taught that in an emergency situation, never ever move an injured person before emts arrive to assess the injuries and proceed to treat the person. he had to be airlifted out by helicopter because of the injury. I am a pretty surefooted person and have very good balance as i am a dancer, and i was thrown so violently by the turbulence that i often tripped. In one such situation, i hit a banister hard enough with my hip to bruise it. Regarding running on one engine, if that one engine had failed, we would have been stranded at sea for an unspecified period of time before being located and towed to the nearest landing port. in addition to that unacceptable risk, with no engine power, the ballast pumps would have stopped working, and without that constant balancing of weight, the ship would list to one side, eventually capsizing. The staff: I experienced rudeness and disrespect most of the time. the front desk staff (except for a very few individuals), was an abomination to the phrase "customer service". my concerns and requests were consistently ignored, dismissed, or flat out refused. I commented to one front desk agent during a phone call that i had had enough of the attitude, and her response was that she wasn't "going to take attitude from me either". incredible. I was charged for things that i had never requested and never approved. I disputed these charges on disembarkation day. I was threatened with having security called on me. I was aghast. I have disputed the charges on my credit card. I could not believe how horribly i was treated. I even spoke with the agent, (named robyn), with whom i had had the original conversation about the charges. She threw me under the bus. She kept repeating that i "had signed it". She insisted that i said things that i did not say. She insisted that i knew things that i did not know. I could not believe that i was being treated with such reckless cruelty and disregard. I wrote at least 4 letters to the general hotel services manager during the voyage. no compensation was offered. no reply was made to me. i informed the general hotel services manager that i would be writing a full report, and that it was the responsibility of princess' staff to convince me not to. no action was taken. The food: Princess has the worst food i have ever had on any cruise line. holland is far better, ncl is far better, celebrity embarrasses princess by comparison. princess' food is absolutely piss poor in every sense. i heard this from many many many guests. Every papaya i asked for was rock hard. raspberries were never available. strawberries were clearly frozen and defrosted before being served - hence most of the time, they were inedible. I had to fight every time i asked for blueberries. cateloupe, honeydew, and watermelon were all consistently rotted/past ripeness, mushy, inedible. The "variety" of dishes offered was pathetically limited. again, ncl, celebrity, and holland all embarass princess on food quality and variety. Most food was obviously frozen and defrosted. all of the seafood was frozen and defrosted before serving, which made it all rubbery, dry, cardboardy, and flavourless. the selection was ridiculously inadequate. in a phrase, the food was absurdly bad. At sabatini's i had to send two dishes back because they were flavourless and insanely oversalted. I could teach the chef how to cook, and i am self-taught. most of the food on the ship was insanely oversalted, or insanely too sweet. I cook better when i am sick enough to be bedridden. Popcorn was not available except at only one hour during the day, and not accessible at any other time, no matter how many requests i made. The soft ice cream was grainy, watery, in a word, disgustingly poor in quality. the only flavours offered were vanilla and chocolate in soft ice cream. no frozen yoghurt was available. for an additional fee, there was hard ice cream available in vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. ridiculous. unacceptable. Drinks were inconsistent all over the ship. General: On embarkation day, the steward for my section barged into my room without knocking. i spent the day on lines 30 - 60 minutes waiting on each line, correcting screw-ups of the crew. Cabin: My bathroom was not working on embarkation day, and i was forced to walk out and use ship public bathrooms. my steward, after having barged into my room without knocking, offered only excuses about how he could not get my bathroom fixed because he was not the plumber. Cabin furnishings were outdated and dingy. I had been sent a message from princess before sailing, stating that i had been upgraded to a better cabin. I can't imagine what the worse cabin looked like. In my "new" cabin, the carpet was worn & stained. It was obviously very old. considering claims that the ship had been refurbished recently, it is obvious that absolutely nothing had been done with the cabin i occupied. The bathroom was filthy & had hair in it from the previous occupant. The balcony & deck furniture were filthy. There were stains on the bedside tables. There were pieces of small trash on the floor. the carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed. The shower had cracks & rust. my bed at home is way more comfortable than the bed in the princess cabin. Any time that i opened the balcony door, a panel in the ceiling howled. It was impossible to enjoy having fresh air in the room. I had to request extra blankets & the ones provided looked like they had been taken from a homeless shelter. One of the blankets had a hole in it. My bathroom did not work for a second time during the cruise. During the cruise the one single insufficient outlet in my cabin stopped working, which meant that i could not charge devices upon which i am dependent to run my life. i had to make numerous phone calls to the front desk to get this addressed. two (2) days after my phone calls to the front desk, i heard someone banging on my cabin door in the middle of day, claiming to be maintenance, and enquiring about my non-working outlet. Two days????!!!!!?? two days???!!!!!?? I told the maintenance person that i could not have him enter the cabin at that time, i needed privacy. i left my cabin shortly after that, and the steward for my section removed the privacy tag that i had placed into my door lock, and entered my room against my express wishes for privacy. things were removed from my cabin that i needed, and other things in my cabin were re-arranged against my wishes. i reported this to the general hotel services manager. No compensation was offered. Internet Access: It was obsecenely overpriced - - morally reprehensible pricing for an essential basic need for everyone. everyone must have regular simple easy internet now no matter where one may be. it is that simple. the price gauging for this is as morally reprehensible as price gauging for water and food. The internet barely worked. when it did, it would take copious amounts of time to get anything done, thereby eating up precious obscenely price-gauged minutes. Internet access is a basic need for everyone now, as are water and food, and should be available at no added cost for the entire ship. period. Entertainment/Gym/Fitness: There were not enough zumba classes. There should have been 2 (two) zumba classes per day (morning and afternoon/evening) - on every day - sea and port. There should have been more classes offered every day - not with extra charges - they should have been included. The gym should have been bigger. Club fusion was freezing cold all of the time. It was impossible to be there without wearing a coat. I wrote to the the cruise director, requesting more zumba classes. he disregarded my request about classes and did so in a quite indifferent unfriendly manner. One of the people who hosted karaoke was snotty and sarcastic with me. I don't remember his name. He hosted the voice as well. The karaoke library of music was extremely limited. None of the songs i looked for were in the library. It is one of the worst collections i have ever seen. The karaoke library had zero tina turner songs (and only one obscure ike and tina track, so what), it had no eurythmics, no pat benetar. The gym should have been bigger. Norwegian's, holland's, and celebrity's gym and spa areas are all much larger and put princess' dingy broken down jacked up "gym" and "spa" to shame. Because there were not enough classes, i needed the area where the mirrors were located to do my own series every day. but there were constant scheduling problems for me to do that, because that space was occupied throughout the day by princess' staff hosting money-bilking snake-oil-selling seminars. staff could have arranged to utilize other space for these "seminars" rather than constantly monopolizing space needed by those of us who really needed that space to maintain our fitness regimens. Spa: There were only 5 stone thermal beds for all of the guests who had spa access. i often could not get a bed, or had to wait for one. the spa, locker area, and salon were dingy and outdated. The aromatherapy steam room could only hold one person comfortably. Two people in that room would mean one would have to sit on the lap of the other. The sauna constantly stank of rotten eggs. I was in the sauna every day. It stank of rotten eggs every day. it was disgusting, but because i really needed the heat, i had to tolerate it by putting a towel over my mouth and having to breathe through the towel. the other steam/spa rooms were old, dingy, outdated, unappealing, and basically useless. The locker area was old, dingy, depressing. Folded towels on the shelves were frequently wet - - not fully dry. the spa robes were old, threadbare, and dingy. I was appalled at just how old, dingy, depressing, and totally unappealing or comfortable the entire spa was. Norwegian's, holland's, and celebrity's spas put princess to shame. It is embarrassing how gross princess' spa is. This is what princess calls a multi-million dollar refurbishment ?????!! Photographers: I tried to take some nice photos on nyeve, but the photographer could not have been less interested in helping me to get a good shot - - that i would actually be willing to buy. I did not buy any photos because they all sucked because the photographer did not care at all to help me get good shots, even though i asked and tried to get a few interesting looks. The photographer just rushed me to pose in the same stupid way that everyone poses. He would not help me to take photos that were uniquely expressing me, and would have been worth my money to buy. if princess wants to sell photos, photographers need to actually care about what people want, and take time to take photos that are genuinely desired. Casino: Scratch off games were entitled to a second chance via raffle on the ship. I bought several scratch off games, but the first time i bought them, the cashier did not bother to tell me that they had a second chance if i did not win anything in the scratch-off. i threw away tickets that i could have entered in the raffle. The second time i bought scratch off games, the cashier told me about the raffle. i returned to the first cashier to call him out on not telling me that i had a second chance to win something with non-paying scratch-offs, and he just gave me some dumb indifferent look. He did not care at all. i lost a second chance at the raffle for those scratch-offs because of his total indifference and lack of attention to customer care. I cannot believe that the majority of your employees on the ship are just like this. it is truly unfathomable. If that cashier had been in my shoes, he would have been extremely disappointed and upset. "Art" Gallery: "fine arts" ???? it was all trash. not a shred of "art" to be found. Medical: As with the internet, medical care is price-gauged, and minimal in scope. morally reprehensible. Disembarkation Day: As i stated above, i was charged for things that i had never requested and never approved. I was on the phone fighting about it starting at 5:30 am on disembarkation day. the ship was so extremely turbulent with only one engine, that i did not sleep at all during the previous night. I had to go down to the front desk to dispute these charges on disembarkation day. I was threatened with having security called on me. I was aghast. I had to make dispute and fraud reporting phone calls throughout the day to my credit card and other financial institutions. As i stated above, i even spoke with the agent, (named robyn), with whom i had had the original conversation about the charges. She threw me under the bus. She kept repeating that i "had signed it". She insisted that i said things that i did not say. She insisted that i knew things that i did not know. Even during my dispute with them over the charges, robyn took the things i was saying during that conversation and twisted them on me as i was speaking. my statements were completely disregarded. I could not believe that it was happening. Customs: There was a very long line to wait to pass through customs. Negative surprises: Everything from day 1 until walking off of the ship was a negative surprise. This is my report on princess' failure to deliver value for the fortune of money they charged me, on every level. Read Less

We have been on 40 cruises but have not sailed with princess for many years. We joined the Caribbean Princess on the 20th of December for a two week cruise. We were very disappointed with the service and food in the dining room. Also this has been the only cruise we have ever been on where we were not given a receipt when we purchased a drink. The entertainment was also very disappointing. There were some good theatre shows however, the theatre was full nearly every night because there was no other entertainment on the ship. If you like to entertain yourself with Karaoke and Mr and Mrs quizzes you will be ok. I could not believe that the theatre show was also projected into another lounge just to save putting on entertainment. The guest pianist was not great however he did provide some passengers with entertainment. Overall this cruise was very disappointing. A real cruising fan but this cruise has put me off cruising. I was disappointed in this cruise. Had it been my first cruise or first cruise with Princess, I am not sure I would want to book another - at least NOT on the Caribbean Princess. 1. I the initial cabin I was assigned (R614) was directly across from a kitchen galley and the noise conditions were terrible with pots/pans banging and talking going on from 5am to nearly midnight. 2, The quality of the onboard conditions were poor: on the Caribe deck, there was water pooling in the hallway for several days, the toilet vac system was a problem for most of the trip. There were buckets to collect water dripping from the ceiling in the BBQ restaurant. And with a few exceptions, the crew was less attentive in general. When booking, I was not told about the ship having engine problems. 3. While I understand that a Christmas/New Year sailing will have families with kids, that does not mean that parents should let the kids roam wild - and if they do, the crew should prevent them from causing disruptions and noise in halls at late hours and at the pools. What can be done to improve: 1. Improve maintenance issues on the ship. It doesn't feel like a ship that just had $8.2 million spent on revitalization. 2. Prevent kids from disrupting the onboard experience. Princess is not marketed as a children cruise. 3. Improve the overall quality of the crew interactions with the passengers. 4. Reduce the sound levels coming from the galley near cabins R614 (as well as R612,R610, and R616). 5. Reduce the volume levels on the sound systems in the clubs and lounges. It was set too high to talk or enjoy the music - especially in Skywalkers. Read Less

We choose this cruise because we had not been to some of the ports offered on this cruise before, and because we wanted something different to do during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Because we love the Caribbean, this was our 3rd Caribbean cruise. The cruise as a whole was awesome, the weather was good, the food was good and the company was good. I have to say, this is the first time we have had such a delightful cabin stewart. She was so happy and friendly all the time. And she keep our cabin immaculate and well stocked for our needs. You will be lucky if you get her on your cruise. Her name is Hedy. Sweet girl. Entertainment on the Caribbean Princess was great. The dancers and singers of the Princess theater was very professional. We enjoyed all their performances. I have to say that not all the staff on this cruise were as friendly as we have encountered on other cruises. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Also, we felt the food at the buffet was not as good as we have had on other ships. One more thing. The balloon drop for New Year’s Eve celebration was advertised in the Patter as to start at 10:45p.m. (Which we thought was odd, but then assumed that they decided to have it early to accommodate the young children and seniors) So everyone was gathered in the Piazza anxiously waiting for the drop, when it was finally announced that the balloon drop would be at midnight. Everybody moaned and and then started to leave the Piazza and head back to their cabins. Very bad mistake by someone. Poor planning. I hate to complain, but these are things we noticed compared to our other cruises. Read Less

We chose the cruise to enjoy some Winter warm sun and escape boring Christmas TV. We weren't disappointed, The ship as been refurbished since we last sailed on her,the self service looks and works a lot better. Of course like most ships two sections of the self service are now pay restaurants in the evening. Though most of our fellow passengers were either American or Canadian there was over 400 Brits onboard and on New Year's Eve they had a celebration at 8pm,( midnight uk time ) just for the Brits, then we got to celebrate again later. The entertainment was good and suited everyone, every other ship we have sailed on from America as been lucky if they could half fill their theatre but on here the theatre was full 30 minuets before the start most evenings. The service was good and food to the usual Princess standard. We had anytime dinning and during the cruise spoke to many Americans,we were told by quite a few of them that some America passengers received a phone call from Princess shortly before the cruise offering them the 14 day Christmas cruise for under $300 and we even spoke to a couple in the theatre who had taken the deal but had to take four nightmare flights from Seatle to Fort Lauderdale to get to the ship. We spoke to the future cruise rep on the ship and asked why we didn't get those sort of deals in the UK,she said because every ship that sails from Southampton sails full, which of course is not true,we asked about Sailings from Europe but got nowhere. We enjoyed the ship, the service, the weather so good choice. Read Less

We did a Christmas cruise on the Princess Crown 4 years ago and had a wonderful time. We followed that up with an Alaskan Cruise on the Pacific. This was our third princess cruise and overall we thought the standards for service declined. The staff in the horizon cafe, bars and deck areas consistently just did not care about the customer and were generally unfriendly compared to past Princess experiences. Within 30 minutes of boarding we went to one of the poolside bars to celebrate with a cocktail. I asked the waiter for the St. Thomas frozen drink. His response was (not joking) you can't expect us to know all drinks. When I explained to him what it was he said he could make it but would need to charge me for three drinks. No friendliness, conversation or suggestions for something else. We never went back to the bars. In the horizon cafe (buffet area) there are servers that provide silverware and drinks. In busy times, they would completely ignore us. We rarely got drinks provided within 15 minutes of sitting down. When we asked for drinks, the server kept cleaning her station and ignored us. We paid for the Lotus spa enclave. The attitude was very similiar. They had citrus infused water jugs and water pitchers in the steam room. They were empty every time we went. When we brought it to the attention of the spa manager he said it wasn't his job but the food staff. We bought the service from the spa, not the food staff. Poor customer service and not worth the $400 you pay for two people. What was great was the food and services in the traditional dining area and the cruise director staff. We really enjoyed the game shows and trivia. However, given the amount we paid for the cruise, we expected better service overall. Read Less

Holiday cruise which was convenent as we did not have fly. Food was very good, did not eat in Specialty restaurants. Loved International Cafe for coffee and snacks. The only reason I did not give the ship a 5 star is because of the poor quality of the mattress. We stayed with backache for 10 days because of sagging mattress. We were not the only ones complaining of this. If they improve mattresses, I would definitely cruise on this ship in the future. Diem bark a tion was the quickest that I have ever experienced. Great entertainment throughout ship. Was surprised that they did not push drinks every time you Sat in a bar area like most ships do. The Carribean really does not interest up as we are not beach or water sports people, so we probably will not go there again. Never found the ship to be crowded at any areas. Loved Alfredo's for pizza. Pizza on deck 16 not very good. Read Less
