This was a pretty much overrated trip. While the staff were great, the charges were pretty steep and it was (initially) difficult to get around. Food was o.k. - although Luke Mangan's Restaurant should be thrown out as it is simply overpriced and overrated! The Waterfront Restaurant was excellent, as was Dragon Lady and Angelos - but getting into them proved to be the problem. Bar service was excellent, although for a duty free environment, costs were excessive. The prospect of listening (again) to a Scottish Bar Attendant in the Blue Room Bar as he whinged and whined about the poor salaries paid by P&O made sure that I didn't go there very often. Entertainment was o.k. - but Loud! The Magician show was very amateurish. By the end of the trip I would have gladly gone shark fishing with most of the 5 -12 year old kids on board - using them all as bait! Those kids - and, on the main, - their parents spoiled the trip for several of us older citizens. Drunken yobbish Bogans do not entertain me at all. I will not be travelling on P&O again. Read Less

on our way to Singapore attracted by drinks package and Komodo and Bali visits. They refused drinks package did not berth in Bali. Departure 7 hours late. Food was 50/50 room was ocean view but windows damaged could not see out properly, Toilet blocked.DVD player blew up,air conditioner failed as did many other cabins) safe jammed. We wrote a personal letter (registered to CEO) just after cruise. Still waiting for a reply. Well, that is how the run their business. We have cruised Royal Carribean, Azumara, Oceana,Princess,NCL,and Danube,Mekong,Amazon River cruises and would easily place P.O. as the least desirable operator. We booked through Cruise 1st and they enquired on our behalf to as why all these problems occurred an were not addressed they said they tried but were still trying to sort it out. When we left Fremantle there was no refreshments offered during the seven hour delay so we caught a bus to town had a meal and waited. Honestly it was cheap and we did not expect too much. But as we have had no official reply we sought legal advice and was told that we could take action to get compensation. We reckon we will just move on to other cruise operators and try to write this one off as a bad experience. Read Less

Boarding was very quick and the first impression of the Aria was very elegant ...until we saw our cabin! We had cabin number 9024, a so called upgrade. It was smaller than a broom closet, had no couch or fridge and you could hardly get inside without hitting the bed. We had trouble getting the big suitcases in. The cabin was definitely not newly refurbished. Carpets were old and worn and the bathroom had mould in the corners and loose tiles in the shower. The shower did not work properly from day one. The water could not be regulated and we ended up being scolded by boiling hot water. The plumber finally set it on cooler on the third day of our voyage numerous unaddressed complaints. Dining was quite nice; we did like the free Italian and Chinese Restaurants. We also appreciated the new dining concept that replaced the traditional buffet. Much cleaner and less waste. Unfortunately, you had to be very careful where you sat because condensation water kept dripping from the ceiling onto the tables and chairs. They also had to have buckets to catch water from the ceiling near some of the Food outlets during the whole of the voyage. We looked forward to playing tennis onboard but the tennis court was never available. It was used for everything but tennis despite there being a basket ball court as well. Segways, volley ball you name just no tennis. The pool in the Oasis was not very clean. They never changed the water despite it being closed for nearly half a day due to the water being very cloudy. YUK Showers in the Oasis had tiles missing and had rusty spots as I found out when my shower in the cabin didn't work. Entertainment was 5star as always on P & O. The captain also did an excellent job avoiding heavy seas. We vowed to enjoy our cruise and so we did but we will not go back onto the Aria. Read Less
