let me begin with the embarkation, it was fast and easy and everyone is very helpful. Only draw back, when I embarked, my bedroom is not yet ready, but it was fine, I had a mani-pedi while waiting for my room and she was really nice, I think her name is Latoya. The bedroom assigned to me was bigger than I expected. It was very comfortable and very clean. I have everything I need for my trip. The food is excellent, especially the variety. I love the Filipino crew, they are so friendly and very generous of their time and talent. They serve me (us) with a smile on their face. The entertainment was also really good, on the first night it was such a great musical, and on the second night it was a nice magic show. Or maybe I’m confused, maybe it’s the other way around. But nevertheless I enjoyed both shows. Read Less

We wanted to try something different and thought Norwegian would be a nice change. We usually go with Celebrity. We will never sail with Norwegian again. Worst cruising experience we’ve ever had. We couldn’t wait for the trip to end!! The food in main dining room was terrible as was the service. The buffet was disgusting...food was always the same...no variety and it was always cold. Plastic plates! The only restaurant that was any good was the Bistro IF you could get a reservation. Worst coffee I’ve ever had!! Had to go to the Java cafe and BUY a cup of coffee each morning! Ship is in dire need of renovations...still ash trays affixed to the wall in the cabin washrooms! People speaking on ‘intercom’ to passengers could barely speak english...very frustrating to listen to. Wifi was horrible...never reception. Total rip off!! Like I said, never again. You get what you pay for. Read Less

First time cruise so we cant compare to other ships. First impression counts and we were pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome as we boarded on Deck7. Found the nearest bar (as you do coz we're British) and had our first drink before exploring the ship whilst waiting for our room to be ready. Very clean and smelt good. Had a bite to eat. Couldn't fault anything other than the toilet paper (1 ply and thin). Food fantastic, you can have steak every night if you with in the Grand Pacific or Alazar restaurants. Asian was good also. The Garden Café can get very busy but its to be expected anywhere at peak times if you with to dine there. Cabin a bit small but we managed. Good shower. We had a sea view window. We were at front of ship room 5512 near to the lift which was perfect to start the day Read Less

Travelling with an autistic child is not without difficulties, and I always dread it. He struggles with having a lot of people close to him making queing one of the biggest risks of a full blown meltdown. So it was with mixed feelings that we arrived at Southampton to board the cruise. As soon as we arrived we were directed to an assisted boarding area where we avoided ques and lots of people, we were boarded within minutes, not having to sit and wait around - It was painless. The Jade itself was beautiful, always clean, lots to do and the crew and staff were so friendly. My autistic son made friends - okay, not with other children but with the washy washy crew, the cruise directors staff, our room steward, the entertainers and the fire fighter - and that is priceless. There was a good mix of places to visit off ship and things to do on board, we never ran out of things to do, and still had time to relax. The poolside and the gym were firm favourites as were the quizes and shows. The food was amazing, The Garden Cafe really has something for everyone!!! We did dine at The Grand Pacific and in Jasmine - but kept going back to the Garden Cafe. As a family we had time to charge our batteries, spend time together, relax and just be together. This was our first real family holiday, that was not visiting family or with a specific agenda, and we all enjoyed it. I never really understood the phrase 'Holiday of a lifetime' - I do now! This was a our holiday of our lifetime, one that we will remember and treasure. All there is left to say is: We are all Norwegian now. Read Less

Nothing but problems from start to finish. Luggage lost for 4 days. No help because guest services could only respond with set answers and if you asked them a question they would go righg back to those same answers. Asked to speak to guest services manager for 3 days and was refused. Ship is dated and ugly. Entertainment was only good one time. Overcharge and sneaky charges for everything. Only way to get good food was to pay extra for special venues. Shore excursions were so badly handled. Went all day on one with no time for a lunch break. Just an awful ship. Have been trying to deal with issues we had with no more help on land than at sea. The cabin stewards were awesome. But the officers are a haughty bunch who don't bother to even look at you or speak. They need to practice what the stewards have obviously been taught. Read Less

It was a cruise of misinformation. I(and MANY) and others feel as if we were on a practice cruise. Staff could NOT answer simple questions such as... where is an ATM, a bank, a place to exchange money., what do I do when I disembark tomorrow, et.al..While overall the staff was VERY nice, friendly(as expected) the dining room staff seemed to be new/in training. Food was VERY inconsistent in the dining room. Example: prime rib, While VERY tasty, most of it was all fat.Lamb one night was very good;the next it was mutton/gamy There was no theme/logic to the food choices. This was a British Isle cruise. Only once was a native/regional dish served. Otherwise the choices might be German, Italian and Asian or a mix of something else on another night. It was as if the chef was cleaning out the freezer and just happened to serve whatever defrosted that day..Buffet breakfasts were consistently good. Disembarking was a nightmare. NCL only cared about the people who bought NCL excursions.Times advertised on land were ONLY for NCL excursions. Also we were never informed about what to expect/procedures once we got off the ship Frequently there were long walks to public transportation which involved unexpected lengthy trips(and costly).Once they let us off the ship early(8 A.M.) in a port that did not open until 10 A.M.. We were not even given a weather forecast for the next day;instead we were given the average temperature for that time of the year. I met MANY angry, disappointed passengers. One day the ship made a mistake of holding back non NCL excursion people for a good half hour and of course we all complained among-st ourselves. I would rate my overall experience 6.5. We chose this cruise due to it's ports of call and enjoyed it tremendously. The ship is very nice and the staff are always attentive and friendly. The ports of call were all fabulous and we enjoyed every one of them. The embarkation and disembarkation at each port was done as smoothly as could be expected trying to get 2400 passengers on and off. The cabin is definitely small which was expected, but to be honest, it would be nice if some of these ships could make slightly larger staterooms when designing these ships. Some of the shore excursions could be improved. For example, we did the Stirling Castle shore excursion that left in the morning and was a 5 hour shore excursion. With the driving there and back, it left maybe slightly more than an hour to see the castle, eat and go to the bathroom. That was not near enough time to explore fully the castle. Plus, other Norwegian Jade busses that left at the same time as us had different times to meet and ultimately ended up with more time at the castle, not a lot more time, but more time nonetheless. And, for this port, we were there until 7:00 p.m. so we had lots of time for this shore excursion to be lengthened even by 1/2 hr to an hour. The dining rooms were all nice and the staff attentive, but we didn't always get what we ordered. For instance, if a dessert was a cake with ice cream, sometimes, we got the ice cream and sometimes, we didn't. Not a big deal, but still not exactly what we had ordered either. Also, the dining room windows are terrible. They give a distorted view outside and even for those of us not inclined to sea sickness, looking out of them was not ideal. We did download the app iNorwegian and were excited to use it, but it wasn't what we had expected. Yes, it gives information on what is happening and at the ports, but not a lot of information. You can't see, for instance, what the entertainment is, just the name of the performer. You can't see the hours of the restaurants if you wanted to know when, say, breakfast was being served in the diningroom. Certainly, with technology always improving, I foresee this app becoming a great asset to Norwegian. However, the charge of $10 per person to be able to use the messenging feature seems excessive. Possibly $10 for a group of 2 or 4 people to use the messenging system, but each person being charged that amount to belong to a group messenging system doesn't seem reasonable. As well, our account listed on the app was generally accurate in it's overall total that we owed, but it never showed every charge or rebate and we know that it could because the other couple we were with had a more detailed account on their app. I also wish the TV could be improved. I realize that Norwegian doesn't want us spending our time in the cabin, they want us out and about and potentially spending money, but having a channel that listed the channels and times of the movies and programs would be helpful when you are in your cabin. However, after all of these small issues, I would definitely travel with Norwegian again. Read Less

My wife and I have always wanted to visit Ireland, Scotland and re-visit England. The Jade cruise stopped at several of the ports we wanted to see. While the overall experience was very, very enjoyable, the cruise was perhaps two-days too long. At the 12-day duration, perhaps spending two days in Dublin and Glasgow would have been more enjoyable than some of the smaller ports of call. The shore excursions were good; however, several of the options were too long in duration. I would have liked more guided tour options rather than just shuttle service from the ship to town. Also, the ramps on and off the ship were, at times, difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Additionally, the staging in the auditorim to begin the tours was, again at times, confusing and delayed. The entertainment was professional, but could have been a little more varied musical stylings. Again, the cruise was very enjoyable; the service was excellent; and, the premium restaurants were wonderful. Read Less

Crossing the Atlantic was on the NCL Jade very laid back comfortable way to cross the Atlantic . days passes quickly playing games , meeting people and all the other activities. Loved our quiet cabin on the 4 deck. Sea were calmer then I was expected. We enjoyed dining at the Jasmine, staff was wonderful. Grand Pacific was very loud and slow service. More staff serving would help. Garden cafe layout is great, salad bar always fresh with a lot a choice . Soup was not salty- prefer. I did miss avocado. Fitness room was very busy when we wanted to workout. So we used the stairs 4th floor up to 13th floor it is a workout. I did not gain weight on the cruise. We would sail across again . Evening music around the ship Charlie , Patricia and other groups kept us entertained. Sing along, dance or just sit and listen. Read Less

This was a last minute attempt to get some sun and get away from the dreary UK weather. It worked! Norwegian Spirit was the forst ship we ever cruised on and therefore has a special place in our hearts, It did not disappoint and we found the special places at the back again where we like to escape. Service was good and everyone was very friendly. We prefer the smaller sized ship as it is more personal. We did not manage to make port in Alicante due to the weather. It was clear from the sea state why this was the case and did not create a significant issue to us;- more time to do ring toss and bean bags! Entertainment is now getting stale. Everything is driven by Elements. The first time we saw it, it was great. The second time was still good but the seventh? Unfortunately, because it is all driven by Elements, the guest entertainers are all the same;- repetitive and increasingly it has now become boring/tedious and I think NCL needs to acknowledge and value its frequent cruisers?
