I had high hopes for this cruise but boy was I disappointed. The service was terrible from day one!! There was no soap in the bathroom and only two towels total in a room reserved for four. Not to big of a problem I initially thought. I figured I’d give the STEWARDS a call for more towels, no answer. Followed up by calling GUEST SERVICES and right off back was greeted with an attitude. They explained to me that the STEWARDS were busy & ensured me that the towels would arrive at some point in the day (couldn’t & wouldn’t give a time). No biggie, I thought, but we never received any until day two. We didn’t even shower on embarkation day (day 1) because the 2 towels were so dirty. There was trash left inside the cabin from the cruise before ours too. Seemed as if only the bed was made. The Steward never changed our bedding until we requested that he change them (this was day four). We came back to our cabin thinking he finally actually cleaned the room but no I was just looking at the bed. The trash had never been emptied up til this point (still day four) & the food left in it had created an odor. Took it out ourselves!! Had towels for four but were dirty again!! That night (day four) we discovered the worst of the worst, blood under the sheets. Yup blood stained sheets in serval spots. We have the pictures to prove it too but they’re smart for not allowing uploads from your phone. Even my 7yr old thought that was very nasty. You would’ve thought that after complaining about bloody sheets they would change them immediately right, wrong! No sheets were changed that night. Instead extra bedding was brought to us...terrible!! I guess they wanted us to change them ourselves as if it was our blood but It definitely was not. The next day after coming back to our cabin. The same bloody stained sheets on the bed. No we didn’t sleep in the bed. We literally had to go out into the hallway to get the steward and have him change the bedding. To those thinking of cruising with NCL, I’m warning you now. They’re terrible!! Terrible service with mostly all their crew walking around with attitudes on their faces and not willing to help you unless you ask. Even if they see you are in need of help. Food is bad really bad. Can’t understand why others say it’s good. Only truly good food was served at the Asian restaurant (can’t remember the name). There’s only two on the ship so try both. They try to sell to you the entire time on the cruise. We joked about it being a time share because everywhere you went onboard for entertainment about 40% of it was a sales pitch. I can go on and on but I’m tired of typing. We will never cruise with NCL again!! Our very 1st & absolutely our last!! Read Less

This was our first cruise experience. We were a large group of extended family and while it served its purpose to be together but have our own space, I've never experienced such attitude in the hospitality industry. There were multiple errors in planning from special events coordination, spa services, excursions, and accounting across the board. Each experience with service was equally disappointing. It's not as if they even tried to make it right nor was there an apology for each error - each service rep deferred to another department or person who then didn't correct the issue who then deferred again. The result was more than 5 hours of my vacation managing the cruise lines errors and then poor service. Then, we were charged incorrectly for almost everything. I found $1200 in auditing it all - again, never one apology. The spa even tried to up charge and suggest we had a different service despite our receipts showing differently - I had to argue with truth and evidence on my side. it is a service model for the masses, hoping that guests are too drunk to pay attention to detail. The attitude at the Teen Club just about made us jump overboard. The attendants there were so incredibly rude when we checked in for our kids - we are on a huge ship out to sea and they wouldn't allow us in the door to check in or get them (there was no other way to connect with no phones working). No adults rules we understand, but the attitude received with it was UNBELIEVABLE. Highly recommend bringing walkee-talkees for safety on such a large ship if you have kids. Corporate should retrain their staff on how to manage service and they all need an attitude adjustment. This was a once in a lifetime family group reunion and while cruising worked for the group, I will not choose a cruise for my immediate family again. A couple of positive points, the comedy club was funny, our cabin service person was gracious (we began the trip with $100 tip), Roatan was fantastic (Jolly Roger snorkeling excursion), we loved our scuba diving crew in Costa Maya, and we found the best food experience at Crazy King Burrito in Cozumel (cruise ship could learn some major service and quality pointers from this small corner restaurant). Overall, it worked for our large group, but personally I would have spent our budget on something more memorable with gracious service. Read Less

This was our 3rd time on the Getaway. Overall we like the ship besides having to walk thru buffet to go to pool area. The CD could have had a bit more energy he seemed to be lacking it. The Assistant CD was also ok. Overall the staff was all very helpful. Our room steward Susanto was excellent wish we could have him everytime we cruised. Jerwin in the Sugarcane bar was great he also remembered our names and what we wanted. We enjoyed listening to the captain talk as it was very informational. The hotel director was phenomenal. Noodles is worth the wait and staff is all very friendly. The one thing I think they could change up is the activities as they are the same year to year. I think it needs to be changed up. My one complaint is my husband had a fall by the theatre and one of the employees looked at him and said he would be fine. He was in pain the remainder of the trip. When we returned home he went to the doctor and now I am unable to get the incident report from cruise line as they say they cant give that up so trying to submit claim to travelers insurance without it. Another complaint is there was a cabin on our deck that would always leave a double stroller in the hallway which I thought you weren't supposed to do. This makes it difficult for people in wheelchairs to get by as the hallways are already narrow and this makes it more narrow. Read Less

Great reviews out of all cruises on line and it was our first , we were not disappointed, already put a deposit on next cruise , I was a little disappointed they did not offer coke only Pepsi I would of paid extra . Need more of a food choice for people who are gluten free and so on. Wife has gastioparesis and can’t eat a hole lot but did ok. Fruit smoothies protein shakes are a definite to be on a menu. All the excursions were great one was canceled but we found other things to do. Love bingo didn’t get the opportunity to play any of the other games was to tired from a red eye flight. Movie choice was wonderful to see in 3-D. Didn’t like the hot tubs way to many people in them. State room was wonderful loved not ever running out of hot water when I showered. Read Less

Picked this cruise that was leaving from Miami to the Caribbean and at the time hoping we would have nice weather. We did have nice weather. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was nice. Cabin attendant Arsen was great. Dining at the Savor and Taste were wonderful. Service was great. The server Alfredo and his assistant were wonder and always mentioned our names. These tow restaurants were much quieter that the main dining room, which was too noisy. We did (4) specialty restaurants, the food and service was exceptional. Breakfast most morning were at the Savor/Taste. The pastry women entertained all of the guests with a their special routine of singing and giving pastries to each person. They made you laugh with their dancing. The big issue was with the atrium seating. All of the seats were set up for groups of people. That made it hard to get a seat. It was like a maze. Even the bar servers found it difficult to get a drink to you. You had to sit at an angle to watch the show. Terrible, redo the seating for the atrium. The ships staff were very friendly as always. I traveled on the cruise ship before which made the trip familiar and gave me confidence that the trip will be amazing again. I had a fun time at the port of calls especially in Belize because of the private beach island and Honduras because of the private island excursion as well. The dates worked with our schedule. Food and dining was delicious and there was plentiful of different offerings. Room was clean and spacious. Entertainment was plentiful and enjoyable. Staff was helpful, nice, and entertaining. The embarkation and disembarkation was smooth and fast. The ship was large and provided a lot of different areas to explore and to participate in. I had a great time participating in the karaoke, bingo, dancing, and other group activities. The art and holiday decorations was a nice touch. I was never bored on the ship and I would go on another NCL Cruise again. Read Less

First off, this is my second cruise ever. My first one was with Disney. Instead of Getaway this should be names Booze Cruise as most of the folks on the ship were there to drink and be loud. Jacuzzi tubs were filled with people like Sardines. Pools were not even a thought as they are either with drunk folks or crowded. We are in our late 30s and mid 40s, kids had some fun with the limited kid's activities but for adults I did not think this was the cruise ship. Port stops were a joke as they all were orchestrated shopping strip malls. Only the first beach was good but other than that nothing was good or convenient. Day 3 we were ready to get off. Food was good at the main deck but the speciality dining was not that good. Any activities they got on the boat were crowded or not available or not enough. The captain Pokethou was annoying with drills during the port stops and annoying announcements. The reason for 2 stars is that they got us safely back home. But once we got home we either had skin rashes form the unclean showers or dust mites from the beds. Cabin was always dusty and had to air out before getting to bed. Showers had to be sprayed before getting in the extra extra small showers. Read Less

This was my 14 cruise and my first on a Norwegian ship. Positives--good food, overall clean ship, fast embarkation and great solo organizer Romeo. I stayed in one of the solo studio rooms. It was small but efficient. The only problem is that they don't tell you that you need to go through a special door marked "Studio" to get to the rooms. Another person and I walked around the entire 11th floor twice and even asked two stewards but could not find our rooms. I need to note that a solo room on Norwegian is basically the same price as paying double minus taxes and gratuities for an interior room on a Carnival ship. Negatives--I had $125 of one board credit (OBC) but didn't know until the last day you could not use it to pay for your gratuities--MAJOR FRUSTRATION and additional cost. I had unlimited beverages so there was not much to spend the money on that I wanted. Other cruise lines do not do limit how your OBC is used. There is no free sauna, you have to pay for an expensive thermal package. The dinners in the dining room were TWO hours every night with very slow service. There is a walking/jogging track that is a joke since it is major walk path in the area for everyone. The smoking fish tank on the pool deck was sometimes not cleaned up for several hours. This happened mostly in the evenings. There is no "quick grab" food except the buffet. Other lines have small areas for Indian food, deli, burgers, pizza, etc that I missed. The studio lounge had a fancy espresso machine but would not give you a regular cup of coffee. There are just so many events and dining choices that you have to pay extra for. The Atrium is too small for many of the activities they presented there. They crammed so much in some areas, it made the walk paths narrow and congested. Read Less

Never cruised NCL before but decided to try something different with our adult kids especially with the free beverage package and on board amenities made the price seem almost irresistible. Will never cruise NCL again- poor service, crowded ship, and very few smiles! Ship- Actually a very nice ship but many spaces seemed very crowded for the number of people on-board. Game shows and trivia sessions take place in the atrium which is not set up for these type of activities. People with disabilities can't get through when anything is occurring there and we saw fights break out over saving seats. Meanwhile the main theater was empty for the welcome and farewell shows and required ticketed reservations for other shows there like Burn the Floor (Latin dance show which was very well done) and million dollar quartet. The other theater was called the Illusionarium and held a steam punk dinner show circus which cost around $30. Smaller venues like the jazz club and comedy club were used for karaoke, dueling pianos and even a group escape room type of activity. We really enjoyed all the comedians and also the atrium game shows when we could get in a good position to view them. Overall there were many entertainment and activity options but some could be reserved pre-cruise, others had to be reserved on board at the box office, and others at a touch screen kiosk, some had fees and others didn't and NCL's app didn't show everything you scheduled in any one place. Very difficult if you want to plan anything while on-board. Also this was the week before Christmas so we expected decorations. There was a tree by the staircase and a few wreaths and over the week what I'd call dollar store decorations started appearing around the ship like garland and paper cutouts of Rudolph-like an afterthought. We've been on cruises the first week in December with many more decorations. A gingerbread display showed up halfway through the cruise which our family did like. Dining- they call it my time dining but its not on your time its on theirs especially if you have a group of 6. We had reservations every night but had to wait almost a half hour to sit and then another half hour for anyone to come to take an order. Over 2 hours and left before dessert. Menus were nothing special, food was okay and service was lousy except for an assistant waiter who smiled and seemed to truly care about our experience. We tried all the free restaurants but ended up eating at Taste more requesting the above waiter. We couldn't get into Noodle bar as it was an hour wait since it is so small and they don't accept reservations. We loved the ropes course and slides and used them multiple times. The zipline on the ropes course is not in use and we were told it probably will not be and the cameras up there did not take pictures of everyone on the plank which we had hoped for since you can't take any cameras or loose equipment up with you. Hot tubs were very crowded and pool deck areas were over crowded. Spice H20 was a nice quiet area to sunbathe with a bar and hot tubs and and a waterfall type feature to cool off instead of a pool. This area is adults only. Our only issue here was lack of attentive beverage servers. In general we didn't find the beverage, bar or wait staff to be very attentive. Whether this is due to the huge number of people with the free beverage package or just this ship I don't know but I haven't experienced this on RCL, Carnival, or Celebrity before. Ports were fine. Harvest Caye was disappointing only that food was not included there. Every private island we have been to prior to this one included a buffet lunch even if the alcohol wasn't included. Otherwise it was a fun relaxing day on a beautiful beach playing volleyball and swimming. Roatan is always a favorite for us with its excellent snorkeling. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly as we didn't have to wait very long for our group to be called to get on board. Our cabin was good size and clean. Our cabin steward was very pleasant and her laugh and smiles were one of the highlights of our trip. No complaints here at all. Overall we felt like the rest of the service was just off this cruise in almost all areas. Since we've never cruised NCL before I can't compare to other NCL ships but we've decided that we prefer the assigned seating times and getting to know the waitstaff like we do on other lines. We met other cruisers who had similar issues with the service and dining. We went on the cruise to spend time with our far flung adult children away from our busy stressful lives and we did enjoy spending time with them but it was just not as relaxing or stress free as we expected on this cruise.
