The cruise that wasn't : Cabin 8069
Sail Date: February 2019
Cabin was awesome! Comfy beds, huge shower, LOTS of storage. Very clean. Our cabin steward, Joelix, was absolutely great! He went above and beyond to be sure we were comfortable and content!

From the deck plan this cabin is hard to predict - its near the Splash Academy, the stairs and the corridor isn't a straight pathway (you have to go on port port/starboard hallways to get there). That said I would stay in that cabin again. There was very little noise when the door was closed. some noise from above - but not very pronounced most nights - we think it was moving deck chairs/tables. There was a lot of storage (some of which we only found on the last day) - although very few drawers. Behind the padded back of the couch and drawers under the coach are easy to overlook. The bathroom/shower was odd - but didn't bother us much - and the shower was spacious with plenty of hot water. Read Less

We chose a guaranteed mini suite as our travel agent asked why would we want to pay more just so we could choose one? I then saw someone had put a comment about the balcony's on Deck 8 being right above the lifeboats & that they couldn't see the sea. Rubbish! Yes the life boats are on the deck below but unless you normally hang over the side to look straight down into the water, you have a perfectly good view just sitting looking out. The balcony was covered which was a bonus when it was so hot. In the inaugral year we went on the P&O Ventura and the balcony wasn't covered, so it was hot & all the other balcony's looked down on each other, so zero privacy. The bathroom facilities as well documented are unique. However I quite liked having a seperate loo & a big shower. Lock the room door if you don't want the steward walking in, simple. There is a curtain you can pull across to offer more privacy from the rest of the room, and I found that this gave lots of space to dry & dress, much more than if it was the usual combined bathroom. Only slight niggle was the small washbasin which is in the bedroom, but this didn't cause a major problem & certainly didn't flood the carpet as some would have you believe. Tons of storage. The room is fairly narrow but we didn't find it an issue as having so much storage compensated for the slight lack of floor space. You are given all your water allowance at the beginning, so we had 14 litres of water to store. Not a problem as loads of cupboard space. Just decanted them into the fridge as required.Bed was comfortable and not as short as some would have you believe. I'm 5'8'' & my husband almost 6' and neither of us had our feet sticking out over the end of the bed! Cabin steward was very good, unobtrusive but helpful. I didn't bother ironing clothes before I travelled as they always end up creased, I just rang house-keeping & and asked for an iron & board, hung it all up (lots of wardrobe space) and the job was done. We had MX minisuite 8050. The 'mini' is correct. The term 'suite' is not. This room was a tiny, claustrophobic tunnel. A third smaller than ordinary balcony staterooms we had on other ships. You can only squeeze by the bed, because they made it shorter than standard. I am 1.86m and my feet were hanging over by a good margin. The shower cubicle is great, but the separate toilet cubicle is smaller and narrower than that on a budget airliner. I am not sure how some of our more 'stately' fellow passengers got their back sides through the toilet door and on that seat. Consequently, the washing basin did not fit into the toilet, so they bolted it right next to the bed. Bad idea. Very bad idea. The balcony is of a decent size, but the very basic chairs do not invite to spend time there. There are no tables in the cabin. None. No idea how to do in-room dining. On the floor? NCL, if you are listening, here is an easy fix: Two reclining loungers and a decent table for that balcony. There is plenty space. Read Less

We had a mini suite with balcony. It was very nice. There was a lot of storage space which surprised us. There was actually three closet spaces to hang your clothes with lots of hangers already in the room. We had our own hangers but didn't have to use them. The walls are curved so it appears that the room is much bigger but its actually longer. The bathroom set up did not bother us. If one had to use the bathroom we just pulled the curtain shut. The balcony was quite large and deep and very comfortable. Read Less
