This was our second voyage on the seaside within the last year. MSC Cruise lines was kind enough to give us discount credits since we were on the divina during hurricane Irma. I didn't care where the ship was going, I live in South Florida and Hawaii so I get my full share of palm trees! The seaside is an absolutely beautiful ship and very very well kept. The staff has come to understanding how to work on that ship and things flow very nicely. The drink packages and Internet packages that are offered by the cruise line are hard to beat. Even the easy drink package which doesn't give you top shelf liquor will do the job and get you all the soda, quality coffees, and sparkling water that you want. The best part of the cruise for my wife and I were at the dance classes and activities. Every morning on sea days there was an aerobics class and several dance classes available all the way into the evening hours. Also a highlight are the production shows. They are not your typical production show song and dance popular songs. They are elaborately costumed events involving singing dancing music and circus. I would say it is similar to a Cirque du Soleil with a different theme every night. And there is the Opera, it is shown in the afternoon during a sea day so if you're one of those that wants to oil yourself up and be shoulder-to-shoulder with a thousand other people on the pool deck you are more than welcome. However if you want something totally different that is extremely emotional and beautiful, go to see the Opera. The only thing that was disappointing throughout the entire cruise was the dining experience. The marketplace buffet is absolutely boring. It reminded me of my days in the Navy seeing hamburgers hot dogs and Pizza with overcooked meats every day over and over. There was always a mystery white fish available and some sort of sauce but it was always hard as a rock and tasting just like one also. The experience in the restaurants was a bit better. The foods were served up timely and presentation was very nice, however there was nothing ever really exciting about it. There was never that food item that said "I want to try that"! All in all it was adequate and it was put together pretty well, but it was not really a memorable experience. Overall for the price point it is very difficult to beat the MSC experience. I would only hope that they would liven up the food venues a little bit more so that it isn't so boring. Read Less

I ended up on this cruise to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday. Young at heart, we wanted a cruise that suited our personalities. So with 25 adventurers ranging in age from 13 and up, MSC Seaside seemed perfect. Embarkation - It's a zoo. Imagine 5,000+ people trying to check-in. Our saving grace was the Aurea package (an upgrade). Trying to figure out where our check-in area was located was challenging. Once in line, a very nice young woman provided assistance. We returned to check-in three (3) times because our card didn't work. A non-walker's nightmare. Dining - The buffet, as one of our friends, said, "By the time you make it around the buffet to find what you want and get to your seat, your food is cold." Day 1: Try to get a soda from the pay as you go machine, good luck. Ridiculous. Sell drink cards like other ships. Organization of buffet, where is the jam? It's on the Wellness Bar. Where is the bread? It's next to desserts or sodas (depends). The staff working in the buffet area just stood around - no assistance unless you flagged someone. The staff in white uniforms - no purpose. The soda machine process, go figure. Evening dining -The dining room staff are unorganized. Try finding a waiter to take cocktail orders. The dining room show, yes we clapped for the staff but our waiters were working. Friendliness - No introductions, good morning, smile. What gives? I am a frequent cruiser, Princess, Viking, Royal Caribbean. This experience pales by comparison. The music, theatre shows, Aurea spa, and ship decor saved the day. Read Less

First the ship is beautiful. The cruise critic event was amazing might have been our best ever. During that event we were shown a presentation. That the msc seaside was designed especially for miami and that is was family owned and they wanted to treat you like family. We also matched from royal caribbean from diamond plus to gold. Which added not much value a drink package that was supposedly free however there was a surcharge on every drink. There was enough people from 6 different countries that each announcement had to be made in 6 different countries. The only time i have had that happen is in the mediterranean. So you felt like you were in europe. Dining staff took you order and brought no conversation. First night it took 45 minutes to get appetizers. We were giving the wrong food from someone several times. The dining room itself is a european open style which amplify the noise level so much so that you can hardly hear across the table.we wanted wine from our drink package however on the third night; we were told they had ran out and if we wanted wine it was an additional charge. But they had the wine in the specialty dining. We bought the specialty dining package which we told there was a savings. There was no savings at all. Plus if you wanted regular coffee with your dinner it was an additional cost. The bar service you had to request the bartender to come over to take your order. There was no bar service asking how can i help. We tried almost every bar on the ship and it was the same. Plus one bar had no coke zero or spirit zero and we were told there was none on the ship, yet you could walk to the next bar and they had. This include beers, wines and alcohols. We meet some several people that had wonderful time after the cruise. But they all had several things alike, yacht club, black card and max drink package. Msc has a special area and dining for yacht club and black card members. We asked and none of these people ate in the in dining room. Plus we only meet 2 other couples that spoke english on the whole cruise. Out of the 52 cruises i have been on this one ranked 51st.if you like to walk there is no walking track and the gym is tiny. Lines for the tread mills were long. Msc allows and it seems they encourage marking of lounge chairs by the pools. People were out at 5am marking chairs. We were looking for the walking track. I would not recommend msc seaside unless you can afford a suite for the yacht club and max drink package.last if you are disabled, we saw several that the doors are not wide enough to get there wheel chairs in. We learned about MSC through a friend, and learned about promotional specials. We loved the Haven on NCL’s Escape, so we decided to try Yacht Club on the Seaside, MSC’s equivalent. We were not disappointed. Our room had a spacious balcony, and had so much storage....very nice. Our butler, Bridgette, and assistant butler, Analise, were so kind, and always cheerful and attentive as were the rest of the staff in The Yacht Club. The ship was very pretty with so much to do. I would recommend MSC’s Yacht Club to anyone that wants to unwind in style. Oh! Almost forgot, the entertainment was great as well! The chocolate Venchi bar was a hit!! The water slides were a blast! I didn’t get around to doing the zip line but our friend did and said it was pretty intense. Gatsby night was one of our favorites, and the sports bar is exceptional!! Read Less

A great cruise for a family who wants to meet people from all over the world. Price was great. Got an indoor cabin for 2 adults, 2 kids, fantastica for $1500, cannot beat the price. And it came with a drink on us package. Yes, they do charge a service fee for drinks but that does not add up so much. Embarkation was a bliss, fast, easy. Cruise cabin was small for 4 but with some organizational tips, very cozy. We do not spend much time there anyhow. Service was great and prompt. Our cabin attendant was very busy but took the time to greet us, tend to our needs. The food was great. Not blend as I had read in reviews. The food was diverse, desserts small but you can try more than one then. The restaurant food (we were assigned to Ipanema at 7:15pm) was great, not huge portions but well enough as fine dining should be. We were full every time anyway. We paid extra one night for the hibachi restaurant (our bill was in the $100 for 4, 2 adults, 2 kids). They do work hard in the restaurants, 3 servings so understandably, they want you out before the next service starts. To us, still plenty of time and there is always the specialty restaurants if you want to spend 2 hours dining. We purchased the spa pass for the cruise, at $270 for 2 adults. We used it almost everyday. Was a nice treat. Really worth it. The shows are short but that is a great thing and the quality is amazing. Feels like going to a Broadway show every night. The cruise director was American which goes along the goal of MSC to appeal to the American crowd. The entertainment team was awesome. When we got back on the boat in St Marteen, they had a special welcome back party right on the dock. Music, dancing and drinks. There were 3 other boats and their passengers look jealously at us, boarding the MSC. They sure made us feel special. We cruised on the one-year anniversary of the launch so there was a bday party with a huge cake, replica of the boat, free cocktails and dancing. My daughter (9) sort of made friends with the Master (Captain). She wrote a review note in the box at the reception and we as a thank you, we received a dedicated picture of him and her from a meet and greet and signed boat replica delivered to our cabin, which she will treasure for ever. Lots of cruises from Europe but I am French originally so I am used to other cultures. All together an awesome time. Disembarking was one of the easiest I have experienced too, you can tell they know how to do it. Read Less

I am a former Cruise Staff and Social Host, who worked for two companies across three ships for four years in the 90's. My wife was an avid cruiser as well before we got married. When looking at a line that best fit our style of cruising and the experience for which we were looking, we stumbled upon MSC Cruises. And, this is our third cruise in three years with MSC; we have a fourth booked with them for next New Year's as well. In MSC Cruises, we have found gorgeous cruise ships (Divina & Seaside, so far), a Mediterranean approach to cruising, a warm family atmosphere with the crew, and ships that truly bring you closer to the sea. For this cruise, we set out on Friday, November 2nd, and drove from our home near Orlando to our hotel in Miami. The trip took around four hours and we checked in easily to the Red Roof Inn Plus by the airport. This hotel offered us free cruise parking for the week and a free shuttle to the port. With the Port of Miami charging $20 per day to park, a $130 hotel stay with free parking made perfect sense. Our preferred hotel is the Hyatt Place Airport East, but they were fully booked. They also offer free parking for the week of your cruise. They would be my recommendation, but Red Roof Inn Plus was not a bad backup. But, if you can get a room at the Hyatt Place Airport East, that would be the best way to go. So, the morning of our cruise, we boarded our free shuttle to the port at 9am and quickly made best cruise friends in Marco and Cornelia from Germany, who sat next to us on the van! You have to love how easily it is to meet people and make friends when traveling! We were at the port before 10am, but thanks to our Aurea Experience priority boarding, we were on the ship by 11am. We also had our own check in lines for Aurea. It was a super smooth process. We were given the MSC wristbands for free with our Aurea Experience booking and they made the entire trip that much easier. They are only a $5 add on for other experiences and so worth it! As is our MSC Cruise custom, after getting a beverage and booking our first sea day massages, we stowed our back packs in the lockers in the spa locker room and made our way to one of the spa hot tubs on deck 8. (You can lock and unlock the locker with your wristband. Winning!) We enjoyed the views of Miami and got into the cruise, relaxation mind set. Ironically, the hot tub we were in, was just below our Aurea Balcony Cabin, #9047. (Port side, forward, deck 9) After our hot tub rest, we went aft on deck 8 to the Marketplace Buffet, and had a delicious lunch with Marco & Cornelia. The specialty restaurant staff were walking around the buffet sharing about the wonderful specialty restaurants and we were able to confirm our reservations easily for the three specialty restaurant package that we had pre-booked. With that work done, we decide to go see if our room was ready. Happily by 1:30pm our room was good to go and some of our bags had already shown up there. Our stateroom was an Aurea Balcony Cabin, #9047, port side forward. You get off the lifts or stairs at cabin 9085 and walk forward. The cabin is gorgeous and decent sized. The couch and desk are in the first half of the cabin, the bed is by the doors to your extra large balcony. There is a USB port on the side of the bed by the balcony and two US and two Euro outlets at the desk. We had no trouble charging phones, cameras, kindles, etc. The bathroom was nice and our cabin steward, Nicolas, kept everything immaculate all week. The bathroom has a shower, body wash, and shampoo. There is also a bar to put your foot on in the shower for shaving and feet washing. The MSC Seaside is gorgeous! And, compared to the Divina, there are so many more spaces that get you closer to the sea! So many outdoor spaces to eat, sit, relax, lounge, walk around, etc. No, there is not a walking track to walk around the entire ship. But, that feels rather 90's anyway. :-) If you want to exercise outside, there is the basketball court and a ton of opportunities to dance and also do fitness classes. The gym is also huge, with a wide variety of Technogym equipment. You can most assuredly get your fitness on. But, Seaside invites you to spend your time outside. There is the gorgeous Bridge of Sighs, the Infinity Bridge, and, again, so much outdoor space. We were Aurea, so we spent a great deal of time on Deck 19 laying out, reading by the bar, lounging in the hot tubs there, and enjoying the wonderful bar service and complimentary towels. What a pleasure not having to bring towels with you from your state room! We also spent our Nassau day on board doing a "tour of the pools." They are all different and lovely! The interior spaces of MSC Seaside are gorgeous and immaculate. There are so many lounges, bars, etc to explore, we really felt in one week that we only barely scratched the surface of getting the full Seaside experience. Hence, us booking her again to enjoy and explore her further next year. But, inside, you are greeted with crystals, mirrors, shiny surfaces everywhere...just a simply, gorgeous ship! Our default location became the Piazza Grande outside of Venchi on Deck 6. It was a great space to listen to music, enjoy gelato, and enter the Metropolitan Theater on the main floor for shows. Pro Tip: most people entered the theater on Deck 7. Entering on Deck 6 allows you access to the main floor and better seats. Cheers! The food was wonderful! We pre-booked the three specialty restaurant package and enjoyed one of them every other night of the cruise. We started with Ocean Cay the first night of the cruise. We were there with only one other couple, Marco and Cornelia, and the intimate dining experience was lovely. My wife, Deeana, is not a seafood fan, but Jayson, our Waiter, asked her what she wanted. She said she was in the mood Chicken Alfredo...so, they made her some from scratch. The noodles were clearly home made and it tasted so delicious! What service, that they would make her something not even remotely on the menu! We dined at Butchers Cut two night's later. There were a few more families dining there. And, the steak we had was perfection...like butter, as Marco said! The mashed potatoes may just have been the best tasting ones on the planet. We also enjoyed delicious glasses of moscato and bottles of Acqua Panna, our new favorite water. Pro tip: Butcher's Cut does brunches on sea days. Very few people have caught on to this. The meals run from $5 to $8 and the carnitas and southern chicken and biscuits were our favorites! We dined at Asian Fusion a few nights later and, again, wonderful experience! I was able to upgrade one of my courses to sushi with Kobe beef and King Crab and it was so delectable, so fresh, so good! We did not do the tepanyaki restaurant this time around, but plan on it for next Seaside cruise. Our dining room was the Seashore Restaurant on deck five. We had My Choice dining, which meant we could go anytime it was open. We were well taken care of by Francis and Emmanuel, who served us with grace, warmth, and professionalism. Did not have a single dish that I was not happy with and the veggie fritata was a standout hit for us! Emmanuel always made sure we had a bottle of water to take with us and Francis was always there with a great wine tip. Our regret was that we did not dine with them more due to doing the specialty restaurants. Pro tip: most people wait until 7pm to eat for My Choice dining. It can put a strain on the staff and hinder service. Go a bit earlier or later, we would dine around 530/6pm and always had fabulous, attentive service. We made good use of Venchi throughout the cruise. The gelato, hot chocolate, and coffee drinks are exceptional. And, the Venchi staff, especially Maria and Nina, gave out of this World amazing service. Fun Pro Tip: if the staff tell you Excellent Choice...you may just have selected the thickest, hardest to scoop out gelato...but, my was it good!!! As far as bar service throughout the ship, we never had a problem. In the casino, just ask the dealer to get a server. You will be well taken care of. Many of the lounges, we got asked right away if we needed service. And, we built quite a rapport with the staff on Top 19 and always had a drink when needed. The staff do NOT run around like other lines yelling and hawking drinks at you. It is not that kind of ship. Thankfully! But, overall, we found the bar staff on Seaside to be even more on their game than on the Divina, which was well appreciated! We did not do the zip line, bowling, pool, video games, etc. That was not what our goal was for the cruise. But, we saw them being used and people seemed to be enjoying them immensely. We did make good use of the water slides however! Wow, were they ever fast! You just need to fill out a waiver by the Forest Aquaventure Pool and then you get a wrist band that allows you to use them as much as you want for free, of course. Pro tip: if you wear a rash guard or pool shirt, take it off, get your body wet before going in, and you will slide as fast as you want. I am not a small guy and I had no trouble with the slides. :-) The Entertainment team was fabulous on board. From the CD Gene, to Kevin, Eugene, Cintia, Arturo, etc. all were warm, fun, and engaging. We joined them at the Sail Away Party and never looked back! All of the theme nights were fun! There are Gatsby, Pirate, White, Country, 70's, and Italian(in the dining) theme nights, and the accompanying parites are great! The White Party is hands down, the best party at sea. Dress all in white and get ready to dance the night away! We crawled into bed that night so happy for such a great evening! Get involved, get to know the staff, they will help make your cruise memorable! We also went to every show each evening, including one of the comedy shows. We love the variety and specialty act nature of the MSC shows and the talent is incredible. Of note, were Enrico, Vitalii, and Diana whose voices were gorgeous! Yes, you will hear non US accents in the singing, but, for me, that diversity adds to the richness of the experience. The sets, costumes, lighting, etc are just top shelf and, all of that combined, makes it very clear why MSC consistently wins awards for their entertainment. You do need to book "tickets" for the shows. But, you can do that with the MSC for Me app or with the big boards and your wrist band or cruise card around the ship. It was super easy to do so, and the app immediately shows the booking. They scan your wrist band or cruise card at the entrance to the shows to make sure you booked. Get to the theater 10 15 minutes early and get a good seat. Don't be the people walking around in the dark distracting everyone as you look for last minutes seats. Our port days, we chose to stay on board in Nassau, and we did our own thing in Ocho Rios, Georgetown, and Cozumel. Ocho Rios, we went to a hotel called Kaz Kreol that is off the beaten path. There lunch was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere, laying out, swimming, etc. Side note: don't try their kayaks as you may sink. In Georgetown, we went to a restaurant called Paradise, where we rented lockers for $5, enjoyed their changing rooms, and snorkeled right off of their property. This is the same reef that many tours go to. So, instead of paying to get there, we walked. The snorkeling was incredible...lots of huge tarpon and other fish. Great visibility! One of the best places to snorkel in the Caribbean. In Cozumel, we walked to Hotel Barracuda, and enjoyed the No Name Bar there. It is where a lot of the crew enjoy hanging out, so it is lively and fun. And you can snorkel right off the property. Again, great visibility and lots of fish to see! We made our annual trip to the famous Mega Store and had lunch at Alberto's. It was a lovely day! Our thing for port days is to find good snorkel spots close to the ship, eat some good food, do a little shopping, etc. Prefer to stay away from touristy type things. As I draw to the end of this review, I have to say the overall service we received on board was impeccable. I went to the Guest Services desk twice with questions and got them answered promptly and professionally. I witnessed some other guests losing their minds, which does not help you get great service, by the way. And, from what I over heard, it was people not understanding what they had booked and people trying to pay for everything in cash. Just don't do that. Okay? Cool! It is so easy to register a credit or debit card at the kiosks on board. And, then with the app or the tv in your cabin you can easily see your charges and track them. On the last night we owed 14 cents. I was able to visit a kiosk before we disembarked and settled that 14 cents with my debit card. For this cruise, we chose to roll our luggage off ourselves, which turned out to be quite easy. But, with Aurea, we were given luggage tags #1 and there was a separate area for Aurea luggage in the terminal. So, if we had left ours outside that last night, it would have been super easy to find. Of course, the Port of Miami is chaotic, but don't let that chaos wreck your cruise on the last day. We Uber'd back to the hotel, go into our car, and drove home...fully rested and at peace. Thank you MSC! If you want to see all our photos, we shared them on a number of groups for MSC on a website most of us use daily. But, in conclusion, the MSC experience is like no other. And, we love it! It is for travelers not tourists. If you want the same thing you get at home, in a different location, then MSC might not be for you, to be honest. But, if you want new experiences, surrounded by people from other countries, in a warm, friendly, Mediterranean atmosphere, then come sailing with MSC! Read Less

The buffet was always fully stocked, the food area was very clean. There were hand washing stations available to wash up before you entered the dining room. The gelato on board the ship was excellent. They also feature a chocolate bar and champagne bar. The chocolate martini was to die for. The ship was very elegant. The shows were great. The open spaces were wonderful. Plenty of room for people with mobility issues. There was fun for everyone. You never felt cramped for space. The balcony cabin I had was toward the back of the ship on the 15 floor and the views were breathtaking. The cabins were cleaned often. I would recommend this ship to everyone. Read Less

I am shocked that people actually had a positive experience. I do not think that these are fake reviews - but instead families with their first cruise. We have cruised with RCL, NCL and CCL and we could not believe how bad MSC was compared to those cruise lines. When we entered - we were amazed by the ship - but the good time stopped there. People have spoken about zip line which was $20 per cabin for entire trip. That was almost always closed. When they were opened - we had to stand in line for 30 minutes for maintenance. Overall - the crew looked either overworked, exhausted. The customer service was not good. We had vouchers for alocohol and non alcoholic dribks and when I tried my first drink - bar tender asked for two vouchers instead of one. When I asked why - he said only one voucher should suffice. Some places were offering premium cocktails with vouchers and others places refused to serve. Overall there were chaos all over the places. The cabins are the generally small - but these cabins are unbelievably small. We had Fantastica balcony and I can guarantee you - you will not be able to seat in the toilet without hurting your knee. The food is worse than some of the all inclusive places I have been - not even can compare to other cruise lines. There was pretty much plain vanilla hot dog and burgers every day. Every cruise line I have been have different ethnic foods in every lunch. Specially for vegetarians - there is an Indian selection available. Not here - some guys with us complained who are vegetarians. Next day they served some badly cooked curry with microwaved tortillas instead of roti or nun. The entrees in dinner was hardly edible. Please do me a favor and do not select the asparagus soup or the duck unless you want to throw up. Most of the food items were devoid of any spices and you would feel like eating raw meat. The only entree that I liked was lamb chops - but that was only for 1 night. Portion of the food was so small - we almost always took multiple appetizers. The shows were not good compared to other cruise line. We liked the Michael Jackson show - but that was pretty much it. The comedy was terrible - they kept repeating the same show every night. May be because it is European - there were always a first class ( Yacht club) and second class ( us) experience. For the Yacht club - there were designated area in the deck. They had separate lines on embankment and disembarkation. Even they could swipe and get an elevator immediately while we would be forced to take stairs as elevators were hardly available.. Again - if this is your first cruise and you actually like it - I understand. Please try RCL and NCL and compare your experience with MSC. Read Less

This is listed on CC as a 14 day but this was a 7 day on the Western Caribbean. Absolutely stunning. Great staff. Staff always cleaning. Very organized. Some of the best shows at sea!!!! Lots to do. Food was very good. Our cabin (12081) was well appointed and beautiful. Very comfortable bed. Nice big balcony. Key wristbands to get into your room and purchases was a great convenience!!! Only $5 extra if not included in your room choice. Most activities that were other than normal was only $10 but you could by passes that gave you more than what you paid for. Zip Line, Billiards (30mns) F-1 simulator, 5 D theatre, and Bowling (price is per lane not persons) Only a few negatives.... small theatre under 1000 seats 3 shows nightly and almost 5000 guests. Most of the shops on board were pricey, Pushing the steak house and other restaurants during breakfast was a bust for me it was annoying. Photos are pricier than other lines unless you bundle or purchase packages 60% of passengers were European. Most of them were rude.... They do not believe in excuse me, Please or Thank you and would rush the elevators before we got off and most of them would push and cut waiting lines. Ports of Call: Ocho Rios Jamaica, Georgetown Grand Caymen, Cozumel Mexico, & Costa Maya Mexico. All very nice stops. Embarkation and Debarkation was smooth and uneventful. public rooms are very modern This ship does not have typical ship feel. Very boutique Hotel ambiance. Lavish in every way. Most beautiful ship I have ever been on. Over all I would do this again and was very happy with this cruise. MSC is striving to take business away from some of the other lines. If other lines are not careful MSC can do some damage especially with their loyalty match program!!!! Pay NO ATTENTION TO the bad reviews that are posted. They are bogus. I have been on most all lines and this one so far has been my favorite. Read Less

What a ship!!! We went with the Divina 2x before, but the Seaside topped it! Loved it. Cabins: We had balcony cabin 15149 − B2 fantasia experience. It was great, the cabin comes with 18 drinking vouchers, we enjoyed our cocktails and wine to dinner and evening. Location is directly underneath the restaurant, you can hear some noises but it was ok. On the other hand, the bufett restaurant was ver close lol. The only "negative" is that the cabins are really small. Smaller than MSC Divina. The closet next to the bed is half the size than other ships and the bathtub/shower has a partial glassdoor which made it really hard to step in. We loved just the foldable shower doors at the Divina, that was such a great Invention and space saver for those always small bathrooms. Food: Very good, even the buffet! In the Dining room you have assigned seating and they really tried to accommodate 2 seat tables for dinning, but the tables were so close to each other just 9 inches gap, that you feel like you sitting on each others lab. Our 'neighboor" used the cruise and his shirts as walking billboard to advertise and marketing his business beside constantly talking about it with everyone. Even if you try to avoid looking at it, you still couldn't avoid hearing about his pyramid scheme, very annoying. But people are people ; ). SPA: I loved the spa- I had one-time pass and enjoyed myself. And I never seen a snow room before, living in Florida that's my favorite room. Beauty Salon: Best Hair cut I've ever got! I had an Italian young Hairstylist who cut layers for 1 hour for $35 and I looked stunning. Never been so happy with my Hair cut. Entertainment: a lot of classic music shows, 4D movie theater is great! Casino: nice, mostly non-smoking. Tipp: The Casino Bar mixed the best cocktails ; ) Shops: Beware of "promotions" which are promised to be deducted by the end of the cruise but never are. If you are a smoker-good news- cartons of cigarettes are cheap and you can take them in your room. Read Less

Wanted my first cruise to be on a very large ship, the room were great excellent customer service, ports were good, the food on the buffet everyday was excellent however the food in the restaurant was prepared well but had no seasoning very bland...and needed better deserts like red velvet cake, carrot cake, some American deserts. overall Excellent I would choose MSC again ! I feel activities were very good it was so much to do and see at each port, it was just amazing everyone was nice and polite, the experience for myself and my friends, I will stay in the state room on the top floor next time, would of like to met the captain and seen the ships from the steering room, we all felt very safe ! I just think it was so fascinating that a ship of it's size able to float and move as fast as it does....note would like to see better internet service and wifi with no additional charge.....over all simply amazing can't wait until the next one will booking soon for October ! Captain Nice work you and the crew ! Read Less

I just went on spring break with family and friends our group is over 30 people, everyone very enjoy the show in the theater the Frank tribute music and my life in music just o.k, not that best some are boring but the rest of other night show are the top best show at sea and I been many ship with different cruise line, I only enjoy show on msc seaside and msc Divina's show they are the best show out of sea, the director in theater he is very fun make people laugh, but the guy who host all game show like love game and the quest and some pool game and v..he is not fun at all msc should replace him with some one have more talent, msc seaside and divina both ship have the best them party with cruise staff, it is very fun they work hard for you to have fun, the guy wear two color sock he very have passion for dance I saw him on divina and seaside also they have straight and a aerobic dance for on fool deck 16 at 9:00 am so I eat a lot and still loose weight , and dance lesson on fool deck two or three times a day. The white party is supper fun and all the dance party with cruise staff they are very fun don't miss if you love dance, msc sea side have best water park and lot of big hot tub every where on the deck 16 and on the deck 8. The buffet on the deck 8 is big like same side with NCL big ship but is nicer you can dine in or outside on the big hug deck with lot of table plus seaside have one more buffet on the deck 16 but on the deck 16 buffet is a smaller compare on deck 8 you can dine in or outside too so is a plus, the pizza and the bread are the best at sea and desert very good, the cheese cake in the dinning room you have to try they are the best cheese cake I ever have, they only have on the first night so don't miss. For lunch and dinner food in buffet is average compare to other ship, but dinner in the dinning room food are very outstanding compare to my 16th cruise with 6 different cruise line. The waiter he is so friendly and helpful, our big group are very happy to have him, is kind of fun one of the waitress she sing on the last night is very fun and everyone love her sing, I love the thermal spa on seaside is very interesting with many different shower mist it is very nice I love it very much, msc sea side is very beautiful ship have no bad smell at all when you walk through attriump is always have good fresh sense smell not like in the review, here is some thing on msc that that I don't like they don't have running track around on the deck, you can run but but can not run around the only place you can run around is at the water park but some place is very tight, the garage club which is disco club is so little and is not look nice, divina have the best disco club, no mini golf and the sport deck is not as big as ncl. Msc seaside have different kind of music all over the ship so it is nice and lot of activities to do so I never feel boring at all, at night lot of thing happen at the same time so I only can choose one but I wish I can enjoy all. For the value of money is very good, compare to any of other cruise line the price is more some time 2 to 3 times and the value is not that all good for the money you paid ,for me I enjoy msc more than any other cruise line, Carnival is my bottom one, NCL have good rope course and mini golf and big sport deck and more choice in the buffet and the oshear restaurant is a plus and they only have 4 show for 7 days and the show they have is so boring I walk out every night and the music only in the 70 or 80 unless you like that kind of music, no cover pool and only 4 little hot tub for public use and thermal spa very high price, compare to msc less than half and msc is nicer and more fun than ncl , for many people complain on little thing like ice cream machine not available all the time when they want they only have certain time of the day so look for time and schedule they have you have to think just of ice cream and a little thing but you have to pay $1000 or $2000 more from other cruise line and people complain elevator is not many wow I count and msc have more elevators than all the big ship NCL have, each side of elvator on msc they have two set on the back of each other, people just like to complain I think just because msc is an Italian cruise, not american cruise. one time I went on royal grandual of the sea it is a small ship the food are the worse dining and buffet food are horrible we went for 7 nights and none of the meal we enjoy and food in the buffet cook horrible when the food is cold like the fry chicken vv.. they full hot water over food to make it warm I saw it with my own eyes and lopster tail cook smell badly stink we love lopster but can not eat and steak cook horible no good, bacon and friend fry and fry chicken always and soft never crispy that is the only ship in my 16 ship food are horrible and the public toilet very old if you put deposit in toilet is not flush and lot of toilet like that and some you need to use the brush to have it flush it is every disgusting, me and friends use many different one say the same thing,so I need to do number 2, I have to go to my cabin to do, but the ratting is above average because it is american cruise it is not Italian cruise but if rate that ship food is would be 0 and entertaiment is 5-6. So give msc a thump up don't let bad review in your mine just go and have fun if you have kid under 12 they will love msc seaside water park it is best water park for kid at sea . Read Less

I have always enjoy cruise with msc ship for value of money and different fun experience and the best entertainment at sea, five nights show out of seven nights show in the theater are the best some night I have to see it twice so don't miss any show, one or two night you go it might be a little boring for you but the rest are the best so don't miss any, so if you don't like italian music don't go frank tribute music and my life in music this two night is a little boring for me but the rest are the top notch , and lot of fun them party with cruise staff, all dance are fun and I love it so much, only msc have this fun experience I love divina and seaside, In dinning room food are very good and different each night, the bread are so good, the cheese cake are die for they are the best you have to try, and the buffet pizza are the best and pasta is good other food in buffet are average compare to other ship but desert and fruit are good, free ice cream pump certain hours only, but if you want to have free pump ice cream pay $1000 to $2000 more to go different cruise line you can eat free ice cream till late night, for me I rarely eat ice cream so no matter for me, if you love ice cream to to ncl. they have pump ice cream and scoup ice cream for free most the time but you have to pay more money, water park on seaside is very nice park is better than any other ship, msc seaside have good music all over the ship only the disco club call the garage is so little and is not look nice divina have very nice disco club, seaside is a very beautiful ship, nice with many pool and hot tub and very nice thermal spa area, all staff are friendly and work hard for you to enjoy and have fun. so give msc a thump up, no dinner dinning in the buffet like people said and no bad smell at all, only good and fresh sense smell and the buffer on the deck 8 is big size the same size on ncl all big ship, and very nice have huge deck so you can eat inside or out side with lot of table, the buffet on dek 16 is small so people said the buffet is so small you have to know the big one is on the deck 8, and the small on deck 16 just the extra one, so this is a plus. the only thing if you want to find you friend you don't know what buffet they eat unless you inform ahead, so you don't have to run up and down buffet. so don' let bad review rude you vacation, just go and have fun. The ship is impressive. Beautiful with gorgeous details such as granite in buffets, bathtubs in some rooms and gorgeous spacious balconies. This high tech higher touch cruiseliner is worth trying out. I plan to make it my go to cruise for the future. Get the app as it’s is helpful to plan and book shows. I recommend booking all your shows around your dinner as reservations are priority over last minute attendees. Great original shows. Very “cirque de soleil” in style. Singers, dancers, acrobatics Lots to do for keen. Many pools. Great to have kids areas. Best food. I will call this the pizza cruise as the pizza was amazing. Casino is small but very friendly staff. Didn’t make it the gym...too far from buffet (lol) but I went once nd it is nicely equipped. Medical visit to see dr is $95 in morning and $125 after lunch. Suggestions: bring hair conditioner and skin lotions. Also many extras available to buy yoga classes $11, Zip line $5, 5d cinema $10, shops, gelato, cappuccino, drinks if not on a package, etc. Overall rating: luxury and wonderful ***** Read Less

I’ll start off by saying that overall, we (two adults and a 10 year old), enjoyed the cruise but I wanted to provide an honest review listing both pros and cons as well as provide some tips. Also, this was our eighth cruise, first on MSC with six on NCL and one on Celebrity, so obviously my reference point is mostly NCL:) Itinerary: - We started with two days at sea, followed by full days in St Thomas and Antigua and ending with another two days at sea. - Bad weather forced the cancellation of Nassau which gave us extra time to explore and enjoy the ship! In reality, Nassau is our least favourite port of call so we didn’t consider this a big loss. The ship: - This is an absolutely beautiful ship, both inside and out. Check-in process. - Nice new terminal and very well organized process. - However, what’s missing and inconvenient in my opinion is not being able to associate your credit card for onboard spending nor block any of your cruise cards as part of your check-in. Instead they have these little self-serve machines once on board (saw them on Decks 5 and 6 in the Atrium) to register your credit card. Blocking a cruise card requires a visit to Guest Services on Deck 5. - Each child is provided with an MSC for Me wristband free of charge on Deck 6 in the Atrium, which they can use to open the cabin door. Parents can use them to track their kids in the MSC for Me app., but having this feature costs $12 which you can activate on Deck 18 at the kids club. Cabin. - We had a mid-ship balcony on Deck 14, similar in size to what we have seen on other ships. - There is not a lot of storage areas in the room. We brought extra hangars and magnetic hooks which helped. You might also want to consider bringing one of those hanging organizers from Ikea. - There are a few USB ports to charge your devices but we also find it handy to bring a small power bar. Restaurants. - We only ate in our assigned dining room and in the buffets. Food is similar to what we are used to on NCL. - One major difference for us is having a set dining time, ie same time, same table and same waiters every night. Originally our time was at 5:30 pm but this was way too early for us so they moved us to the second seating at 7:45 pm, which was a little later than we would have liked. - The buffet is good but pretty much never changes but I think MSC’s assumption is that most people will have supper in the main dining rooms. - It seems you will only learn of your seating time once you are on board. Changes are only possible once on board as well and were done at the Ipanema restaurant. Suggest you take care of this as soon as your board. Bars - Very happy with the bar service and drinks are reasonably priced, with beers going for $5 to $6, cocktails $7 to $8 and premium drinks $9 to $10. - They are saving paper and time as your orders are taken and approved using tablets, whether ordering from a waiter or at the bar. - Lots of bars to choose from but by far our favourite was the Sports Bar on Deck 8. They have a really large selection of bottled and draft beers and ciders. In addition to the large screen and the TVs at the bar, they also have these really neat, different sized, semi-private viewing booths. - One thing. We booked the Fantastica Experience, which comes with 12 paper beverage coupons per person. They were only delivered in the late afternoon. Would have been nice to have had them waiting in our room OR have them electronically available on your on board account. Pools, hot tubs and water slides - There are three main pools to choose from. - South Beach, located on Deck 7 at the rear of the ship for adults only and Miami Beach, located on Deck 16. There are two glass elevators at the back of the ship providing an easy connection between the two. Also take the time to cross the Bridge of Sighs and look down through the clear floor for an amazing view below! - Jungle Pool on Deck 17, an interior pool but with a retractable roof and typically gets more kids. - There is no shortage of hot tubs on board so you should be able to get some time. - The water park looks like fun but my son at 10 wasn’t too interested to go there. - The water slides are ok but we didn’t find the interactive one (pressing the matching colored button on your board with the color in the slide) all that thrilling. - You will need to sign a waiver form to use them and the line can get pretty long. Suggest you do this early and is done at the water park. Zip line - The zip line is ok but was only opened during our two port days. I’m assuming our sea days were considered too windy. - You can pay $5 per ride or a flat $20 for the cabin allowing you to take as many as you want during the cruise. We went with the unlimited option but in the end we only used it once. - Tickets can be purchased at the games centre on Deck 7. Fitness Center. - Nice sized and well equipped fitness center. However, you need to sign a waiver form before you are allowed to use it. - They offer spinning (daily at 10 am) and yoga and boot camp (alternating days at 5 pm). Tried and enjoyed the yoga and boot camp but I think they should add more classes and at better times. - There is no jogging track on the ship. Entertainment: - I can’t really comment too much on the entertainment since I only saw one show, the adult only improv group which I enjoyed. Note, they did not have any stand up shows. - On the other hand, my parents pretty much saw all of the shows and seemed pretty happy. Kids Club - We had registered our 10 year old son but he only went once for a 30 minute video gaming session. - They don’t seem to organize as much as they do on NCL. In the end, my son made a friend onboard and they pretty much did their own thing Internet Access - We had 3 gigs shared on 2 devices included with our booking. That was way more than we needed and by the end of the week we had only used around a gig. - Speed was pretty good but slower that what you get with your phone or at home with a broadband connection. Disembarkation - Probably the smoothest process ever! - But one big WARNING! You will be denied disembarkation if MSC owes you money on your onboard account. You need to address this at Guest Services before getting off. Do not ignore this warning! Happened to a family in front of us where the mom and two children were passed through but then the dad was blocked! Not sure why they just don’t send a cheque at a later date, but they don’t! - You have two options, assigned times (luggage left outside your cabin by 11 pm) or self-assist (disembark with your luggage but without assistance from MSC). - I do not suggest self-assist. You need to disembark by 7:30 and the elevators are crazy at that time. You may be forced to use the stairs. - If assigned times, you’ll be assigned a default time based on your experience, arranged transfer, cabin number, etc. However, you can request a change if needed. - Originally we were assigned 10:45 am but we switched it for 8 am since we needed to pick up our car at 9:30. - One nice thing is that they scatter the meeting locations by assigned time. Avoids having one long line to get off the ship! In our case, we waited at the Metropolitan Theatre. The elevators. - There are eight elevators in the front, eight midship and two in the rear. - Despite this number, they always seemed to be crowded and slow during key times. Sometimes it was easier to get in one going in the opposite direction! The smell. - Undoubtedly you’ve read/heard about the smell. It’s true, but it's only noticeable when docked and it is near the funnels. Unfortunately, this means you will notice it at the entrance to the kids club on Deck 18 as well as the water park, which is one of the first places we went to since we wanted to register our son in the program. Not sure what they can do to address this. Lounge chairs. - Most lounge chairs are in the sun so finding shade will be hard. - There is a major issue with people reserving chairs. There doesn’t seem to be any rules around how long you can leave chairs unattended nor how soon you can reserve, which in my opinion is a big mistake. - Some people will reserve and not use their chairs until hours later. On one day, I was at my chair from 9 am to 3 pm and I never saw the people next to me show up. Please don’t do this. - Because of the situation, some people resort to just moving towels on their own, which can lead to arguments. - To lessen the chances of losing your chair, I suggest leaving something more than just your towel, ie bag, book, sunblock, magazine, etc. Read Less

To set the stage on my cruise experience I have done five of them and with different companies: NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and now MCS. Best of them in my opinion Celebrity Equinox but that is another review. So, when buying this cruise, I went from happy to be worried for all the terrible reviews on this site. And during the cruise that was great I had to think how come we can have so different experiences. My short answer would be that MCS does things a bit differently and not an exact copy of the other cruise liners. I guess if you want no changes and want everything to be exactly as on other ships you will get disappointed. But if you are open to things being a bit more innovative and new you will feel this as a spice among the cruise liners. That said we talk small differences so no major crazy stuff. So, what is different: - Shows are most of them only around 30min. Book on your TV. - Some shows are challenging you to try out for example Opera. - Money on your cabin cards will be described more in BE AWARE - Specialty restaurants are working a bit different more in Be AWARE - All announcements are in 4 languages - This is a high-tech ship and you will not have you cabin attendant opening the door doing a “sorry”. The keycard that must be in the keyholder for lights will tell your attendant when he/she can go in to attend to you cabin. - Several pools and decks you can do your outdoor activity I will do two more things before ending this review. First a BE AWARE section and the a + and – section. BE AWARE: - When checking to the ship you do not add a credit card to you cabin cards. Onboard you will find several small machines where you add credit limit on your different cabin cards with a credit card. This is a bit confusing but is flexible if you want control on the spending during the cruise. I think you can just add a credit card to all your cabin cards in the reception, but we did not. BE AWARE that when the final bill (last night) comes they don’t have your credit card and you need to go to the reception or faster to the little machines to pay the bill. If you don’t they will stop you as they did with me when trying to get of….. please pay your bill sir…ops. I saw many people bump into this so be aware. - Specialty restaurants have a 25-30$ dollar offer and then you only get a selection of the total menu and with a 50% discount on the other items of the menu. So, this will potentially make the visit more expensive. Example: I love Ribeye and in the Bucher cut restaurant that is not in the offer selection so I needed to add 20$ to get that. You can go to these restaurants as an a la carte restaurant and pay as you eat if you want also. One more thing in the offer you get 3 dishes and not more. On other ships you can get for example 2 starters a main course and 3 deserts. - If you have a package on wine/beer/soda with the lunch and dinner there is no choice to be made. They have one Chardonnay and one blend of a redwine. The Rose is with Zinfandel and sweet. Mainstream and ok wines but don’t expect to have a selection to choose from. Wow this review is getting long. Here comes my + and – list Positive stuff: - Price on this cruise !! Wow it is a bargin. - Onboarding we got 4pm and we jumped out of the taxi at 3pm and was onboard in our cabin 40 min later. Fast ! - Beautiful ship and built in a modern way so you don’t feel you are in a ship - Two buffet restaurants with good selection of food. TIP on the upper one go to the back of the buffet to find a seat. Everyone tries to get tables by the entre to the buffet. Lines are long as on other ships on peak times. TIP2 They make great burgers to go. - Butches cut and their Ribeye is Wow and a good selection of wines if you ask for a better wine list. - Cabins are very nice and we enjoyed our balcony - To find a place on deck at seadays are a challenge but I felt we got ours sunchairs with not that much struggle. - Great variety of shows. If you like to laugh go to the late show in the theater. They do improvisation theater. We were there every night laughing. - Many great bars and casino - Ordering drinks was fast when they use Ipads for ordering and your drink is being made as the order is taken. - To get of the ship I was chocked…. It took us only 30 min to be on the street outside with our bags. - Excursions are comparable to other cruise lines with lines and they are effective even if it takes time to get 5000 out of the ship. Negative stuff: - The food in the main dining room the first day was not that good. The other two days we were there it was much better, and others told us it was only the first night that was under expectation. - Specialty restaurant Asian was overpriced and slow serving. - Why don’t they have an Italian specialty restaurant on an Italian ship? - We did not eat at the French specialty restaurant because it is in the BIG beautiful middle of the ship with the crystal stairs and noisy for dining. - When the ship is in harbor we felt a sewer smell in corridors but not in our cabin. - No texas holdem table at casino Read Less

Cabin: 14063, Aurea Whirlpool Suite, Forward Facing Balcony Experience: Aurea Cruise Departure Date: 1-27-18 (Western Caribbean) First time cruising with MSC and overall the cruise exceeded all of my expectations. I would definitely book another cruise with them. Observations: -I only noticed the sewage smell on Deck 19 near the HVAC exhaust ducts and it was a faint smell at best. I never smelled anything in the interior of the ship. There still appears to be some gremlins in the plumbing system though. The toilet in our room stopped flushing on the 3rd day. We called guest services and the toilet was fixed within 24hrs, so not a major inconvenience to us. -All of the technology of the ship worked perfectly. The touch screens around the ship were very helpful. The kiosks for registering my credit card were quick and easy. Never waited in line and the whole process took about a minute to complete. -There was salted butter on our table for every meal... -The overall design of the ship is amazing. The public spaces are visually appealing and always kept very clean. The ship design does a great job of dispersing the 5,100 passengers around the ship so that none of the areas feel crowded. Even on a sea day with bad weather, the ship was not crowded. -Embarking and Disembarking the ship in port was the quickest I've ever experienced on a cruise ship. We were able to get off the ship within 15 min, and able to get back on in about 30 min. -The spa and gym facilities are very nice. Plenty of machines and free weights to get a workout in without having to wait for anything. The thermal area of the spa is spectacular. The sauna, dark steam room, light steam room, salt room, and giant hot tub were all very relaxing. The thermal area was also never crowded and very relaxing. -The food on the ship is adequate. I don't go on cruises for food as it is all essentially mass produced banquet food, so that is where my level of expectation is set. The food on Seaside wasn't any better or wore than the cruises I've taken on RCI, Princess, or HAL. Buffets: We used both buffets and were always able to find something to eat. The pizza and burgers were always good for a quick snack. We also never had any issues finding a place to sit. Main Dining Room: The food in the main dining room is also adequate. Nothing special, but not terrible. The service was always very prompt and we always had drinks, bread, and butter offered to us. Overall, the entire meal took a little over an hour. Specialty Dining: We ate at all of the specialty restaurants and they were all very good. The value for the money is hard to beat. Overall the inclusion of the drinks package, free coffee, gelato, access to the Thermal Spa, free massage, private sun deck w/ bar, MSC Seaside is well worth the money spent. I wouldn't consider MSC to be a "budget" cruise line in any way. Read Less

The suitcase was set aside without warning we were still obliged to go to the service desk. Little drawer, bedside table too small .... smaller room of all cruise ships. No storage space had to leave an open suitcase. The service desk always too busy ... and poorly located. Non-entertaining music in the middle of the ship. Their application MSC at sea does not show the current bill you have to go to the service desk again. The music plays very loud and we hear it very well from the room every night until 12:30. Do not take a room in the middle of the boat. The boat is new but it smells bad in many places in the rooms and corridors. Several passengers made complaints. The elevators are very slow and many are systematically out of order for two weeks. Lack of sunbeds when at sea and the weather is nice. Buffet very repetitive little diversified. Dining room well. The shows are very good at the theater. There is no free movie. Read Less

Excellent service, crew were great...we did have a little issue with the toilet system as many people have written complaints here in cruise critic BUT we must remember that this is a brand new ship... I am an experience cruiser... it is totally normal to have issues on a new ship... overall MSC Cruises puts to shame other cruise lines... their shows are outstanding something I've never seen on a cruise ship. We liked it so much that we are already booked once again in September and October.... we are Diamond Plus and Elite Plus in Royal Caribbean and Celebrity so that can give you an idea how much experience we have.... we are very impressed with MSC... I must admit .. there are a lot of room for improvements but they are working on it.... this is a family owned Cruise Line not a Corporation like the other companies who only care about MONEY... MSC is very generous and flexible with perks and much more... cant say enough in this review... hope you have a wonderful time in MSC once you try it... remember this is an European Rich Cultured cruise line and is very proud of it. I cant wait to go back. Read Less

My boyfriend and I had never been on a cruise so didn't know where to start when booking. After some research we came across the MSC Seaside and were mostly attracted to the ship as it was brand new. For a couple who have never been on a cruise and were slightly wary of cruising the idea of an old weathered ship smelling of stale cigarettes was not what we wanted. So the fact this was the ships third voyage sealed the deal for us. We went with the Aurea package with the whirlpool suite and unlimited drinks. Any couples traveling I would highly recommend this room and package. We were unsure when we booked as it seemed a little extravagant to pay the extra money for a hot tub. BUT, I would say it was the best decision we made, we used it every morning and evening at sunset, it worked with no problems, had underwater lighting, 2 types of pressure and perfect temperature. The hot tub is also situated in a way that gave us the most relaxing view of sunset and the ocean as the ship sailed away. Some nights we spent 2 hours in there! The hot tubs around the ship are usually full of 8-10 people to so to have your own private one really made a difference. Other perks of the package were the unlimited drinks and use of spa. There were no loop wholes with the drinks package as I thought there might be. it literally was unlimited any drink at any bar and restaurant through out the whole ship (except room service for alcoholic drinks) Food - we found the food to be very good, I over heard a lot of Americans complaining about the food (I am an American) I think this is because it is an Italian cruise line so the options were more Euro style which is my opinion is a lot more of a broader selection. No there were not options of endless fried and junk food but instead fresh cheese, ham, fruit pastries as well as all the usual cooked breakfast options, eggs, bacon, pancakes etc etc... Basically if you are looking to gorge of junk food for a week this is not the cruise line for you. The options were endless and certainly enough to please everyone, the quality in my opinion was great, nothing ever ran out, as soon as certain foods were running low a fresh batch would appear. I have read reviews from the first cruise from italy and how bad the food was, I think this must have been resolved before we cruised as there was no way the food could have been described as in anyway bad unless you are reviewing for the New York Times ;) The Korean BBQ restaurant was our favorite, and the Butchers cut. I did not enjoy the seafood restaurant because of course being on a cruise the shell fish has to be frozen, so the crab i ordered had been de-frosted and was soggy. The fish was good but I would always avoid any shell fish on a cruise. Spa was brilliant, 8 different rooms, snow room was spectacular. We had a couples massage booked in with our package which was very good. Didnt use the swimming pools much as they were too cold, the adult only pool is a nice touch as the other pools were over run by children. Gym was very well equiped had more than my gym at home, and not too crowded. My boyfriend got a very good hair cut in the barbers for a good price. Arcade was fun but you have to pay additional which I dont think is correct, this should be included in the package, it doesnt cost the ship any extra to operate a bowling alley or 5D cinema so no reason to charge more, its just a money making scheme which seems harsh considering the amount cruisers have already paid. Seaview lounge was our favorite bar to have afternoon drinks, not too crowded always served quickly and good views of the oceans. Bar and food wise there are more than enough options and neither one was ever too busy even at the peak time we sailed. Staff we all very pleasant and quick with service, especially our dining staff. The only bad service we encountered was the MSC representative at Fort Lauderdale airport, she was actually very rude to us, would not help us we actually ended up getting the address for the port from a Royal Carribean worker, so that was not a great intro to our trip. There also seemed to be a lot of staff lingering around who couldnt actually answer questions, it was a lot of 'you need to go there' or you need to ask this person. The feeling of being passed on to someone else with no resolution seemed too frequent. Room service was very bad too, phones rarely were answered and when they were things either didnt arrive or came 1hr plus late. One evening we wanted to stay in the room and order room service for dinner, after trying to call for over an hour with no response we gave up and went to a buffet. Once someone did answer I asked why it took me 10 attempts to get though and they said it was very busy and they only had 4 phones. Not really a good enough excuse for a boat that holds 4000+ passengers, solution - get more phones - have lingering staff to answer them. Cleaning of the room was very good, always done on time and cleaned twice a day. Entertainment wasn't a big concern for us as we arent big show watchers, The 2 shows we did see were good. only 30 minutes which is the perfect amount of time, some of the dancers were of a very high standard, females I thought a lot stronger than males. Bingo was a lot of fun we played 3 times, I think they should have done more bingo as it seemed to be a big hit. There were always enough parties and things going on in the evening for a young couple no problems there. We stopped in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Bahamas. We only booked one tour which was the Bob Marley tour in Jamaica, well worth it if you are a Bob Marley fan. Cozumel was the least favorite of our stops, Bahamas was beautiful. Weather wasnt great that week but if it is and you dont want to do an excusion just google the nearest best beach and jump in a taxi from the port. Its worth getting out for a couple of hours. Except Cozumel, unless you have booked an excusion you're best staying on the boat as there is nothing to see there. We got a taxi to a beach and it was full with other cruisers, over prices bad food and drink. Your better to stay on the boat and save the money, there is nothing to experice there. In summary, going into this experience somewhat wary of what a cruise entails we were pleasantly surprised. The mix of nationalities on the boat for us was a real plus, it showed people had flew in from all around the world for this ship. The ship was by far the most impressive we saw on all of our port stops and was very much in envy of the passengers travelling with other cruise lines! If you unsure of weather to book this from previous bad reviews, from what I saw any initial faults were fixed and we had a perfect sailing with very minimal problems, I would definitely sail on the seaside again. It's a beautiful ship, the water park is a lot of fun, we enjoyed the food and the entertainment is wonderful! We stayed in the Aurea suite and it was spacious and beautiful! One of the largest bathrooms I have seen at sea! Very comfortable and functional. For the most part, we found the service in the bars and restaurants very good. We enjoy taking our time at dinner, not being rushed, there was a nice atmosphere and the servers were very pleasant. Only once we waited a bit longer for dessert but it was an exception. I know some complained about the slow service but for us the pace was just fine. We are on vacation and we don't like to be rushed. At the bars they went out of their way to serve us. We traveled with children and they enjoyed it. I will defiantly sail again with this ship, we sailed with the MSC Divina before and we will sail again with MSC Cruises. Read Less

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant right before the start of my cruise onboard Seaside by reading what some cruisers posted, so my expectations weren't that high. I have to say that my family and I really enjoyed ourselves. We loved the design of the ship, beautiful colors and materials used, very different from other cruises we took on Celebrity, Royal and HAL. Granted, the overall standard of service is not as high as on Celebrity and HAL but then again we paid much less as well plus MSC doesn't have the reputation and experience that the other cruise lines do especially with the US market. I can see they are making an effort though, their menus are more geared towards us than what I saw on Divina and there was much more variety in the buffet. Maybe because we sailed outside of the holiday period where there were much less kids and people in general from what the crew told me, I found the spaces to be quite comfortable, especially the outside decks. Loved having the adults only back deck by the pool on 7 and also the promenade deck on 8 where I could always find empty chairs. Service in the dining room was very good and the food was excellent. I loved the spa, bought a thermal pass and enjoyed all the cool stuff such as the snow room (not too long), the big jaccuzzi pool and the various saunas (steam, hot air). The entertainment was good, liked the cabin (Aurea class) and especially the ability to dine at whatever time I feel like instead of fixed dining times. My waiter was very good and dinner was quick but not rushed. My cabin steward was great also, room was always cleaned on time, loved the ability to indicate when I was out of the cabin to have it cleaned by pushing a button and the light switches on versus the little pieces of paper on the floor that I see on other cruise lines which cabin stewards put in between the doors to indicate if someone has left their room. I think the best is the value for money. I got a much better cabin and paid much less than when I was onboard the more established cruise lines. I would definitely recommend sailing on Seaside. Embarkation, and debarkation was very smooth at all points of the cruise. Our balcony room was clean with a tub shower. The ship was beautiful, but that is where the positive comments stop. Let's start with the room. The room carpet was frayed after only one cruise, and the soap pump dispenser did not work even after being replaced. We met one guest that had the door handle come off in his hand when he walked into the room. Our fruit basket was 5 pieces of fruit on a plate. The hallway outside of the room stained easily, and when washed remained discolored. Our room steward was great!! Dining at the 8 pm seating was an experience!! We sat down at 7:45 pm and ordered dinner, and desert at the same time. Our waiter and assistant were very nice, but things were way out of their control to change the experience. We ate there 5 out of 7 nights, and did not have a meal come out the way it was ordered. Medium was either raw or well done, and sent back. Could not even cut a chicken breast. The all inclusive dining had dinners that could be purchased if you did not like the food choices. In over 11 cruises we have never seen that. If you were not done with dinner by 9:10 pm the dinning room lights would turn up to full brightness. In other words get up and get out there is another seating! After dinner we went to the show that you had to reserve a seat for. We would have walked out of the first show, buy we were sandwiched in. We saw a total of three show, and they were consistently bad. The entertainment was in house entertainment. They had 4 main singers, and the back up group did not move their lips, even though you heard them singing on the speakers. The feeling was mutual with other guests that we spoke to about the entertainment. It was never full. The lounge singers were better than the entertainment. We purchased a gourmet coffee card since my wife likes Mocha's. After the second day of the specialty coffee bar trying to make a Mocha they finally stated that they are an Italian cruise line, and make espressos. The specialty liquor store asked me to show them a picture of an overprice bottle of liquor that they were selling so that they can price match a lower price while we were at sea. NONE of the workers smiled!!! From the officers to the crew nobody recognized you as a client. No smile or hello! The photo personnel were great!! We were reviewing our pictures at 10 pm,and the lights went off on us at the photo ship. We pulled out our phones with the photo crew to see the pictures. The employees at the gift shops that we visited were friendly. The gym was small with only one class offered. The specialty restaurants were very small, and sold out the first morning of the cruise. We ended up getting into the Prime Cut a steak restaurant, and we had liquor vouchers that came with the cruise. Let me state that the specialty restaurants were not priced fixed as all other cruises. The menu was priced per item. We were asked by the waiters assistant if we would like some wine, and we told him that we would, but we had the vouchers. He told us to go to the bar to use them. A minute later the waiter comes by and asks if we wants wine, and we informed him that we were sent to the bar for drinks because the restaurant would not accept the voucher. He totally contradicted the other waiter, and discussed it in front of us! Now this is a specialty restaurant where the meat was ordered medium, and one of the two came out well done!! Breakfast cafeteria seemed to have the same food every morning. The ship had a lot of activities for kids, but it is the adults that pay the bill. All announcements on the ship are made in 5-6 languages (about 10 minutes long). We even ran into travel agents that were checking out the ship, and would not recommend it to their clients. Just as a point of reference we had two balcony rooms. Read Less

The food was terrible, the service was terrible. The ship was so unorganized. I have been on just about every cruise line. I would go on a Carnival, Royal, Princess or NCL any day over this. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CRUISE. I know a lot of people who have booked this cruise and i am trying to talk them into cancelling because it is SO BAD. Every time we went to the restaurant it took about 3 hours to get served. I contacted customer service directly about a horrible experience I had with a customer service manager and I have yet to hear back over one week later after this woman called me stupid and told me there was nothing I could do about it because she is a customer service manager. I am warning you DO NOT GO ON THIS CRUISE. Take any other cruise line and you will enjoy way more Read Less
