This is my ninth cruise and this was the worst one I have been on. The good parts of it was loading and unloading passengers it was quick and easy. However, Lets start with the ship, when the ship started moving there was no party like there was on the other ones. The pools closed as early as 10 o clock. There were not as many parties and the music for them was really bad. The parties also ended at 2 o clock so afterwards there was nothing to do after and everything is about money. My daughter had a fun pass that I purchased and when I went to the deck to get her the bracelet the guy was trying to charge me twice for it. The site did not specify that the fun pass had credit and was not unlimited either. We also purchased an internet package which was 3 GB's for two devices. They charged me 300 dollars when I had bought 100 dollar package. When I went to guest services I had to argue with them and they only took off 100 dollars but gave me 5.5 GB's. We were charged an extra service fee of 87.50 per person as the tip for the people working and we were not informed that it was not included in the booking they put it on afterwards. For the photos they were very disorganized and when I asked for help the person working told me to "calm down" so my daughter yelled at him. It was very rude. During dinner the same waiter kept taking my daughter to dance to the music they had in the restaurant but would not keep it professional and asked for instagram and he continuously kept messaging her. The guy cleaning the rooms did a horrible job cleaning the room and the room always smelled strange he never took out the trash and on the last day my daughter forgot her license in the room so she went back to go get it and she found the guy who was cleaning our room smoking a cigarette on the balcony of our room. In a non smoking room. The cabin is extemely small compared to the ones on the other cruise ships I have been on. The timing of the ports was also horrible. We arrived at Puerto Rico at 5 PM on the third day and left at midnight which there was not much to see cause it was night time. On the fourth night we arrived at Virgin Islands at 7 AM and left at 6 which was good timing. On the fifth night though we arrived at St Maartin and didn't have time to do anything because we arrived from 6 AM to 1 PM. On the sixth night we were still at sea. Then the seventh night we arrived at the Bahamas from 7 AM to 6 PM and it was a disaster since it was the day before we left so we had to leave the island early to get our photos and pack our luggage up, every other cruise I have been on we would be at sea on the day before leaving the ship. The food was the same in the buffet we did not get any changes and it was awful. Me and my friend ordered the same food in the restaurant and got food poisoning from it. The only thing there was to do on the ship was swim during the day and drink at night. The only night club there was, was filled with younger people as young as 18, there were not multiple clubs like there was on the other ships. I would never sail with MSC again and it was triple the price of Carnival which is the best ship line I have sailed with. Also I called 4 times for more hangers and I did not get them till I told one of the people working outside I needed them. I came on this ship to relax but this was anything but relaxing. Read Less

We went with family/friends. The ship is beautiful but is run very poorly. My room was dirty and I always bring Lysol wipes with me so I cleaned it myself. We saw the guy maybe 4 times and he was nice but not very thorough when cleaning. (He left a plate with food on it for two days on the dresser). We were told out room was to have a see through balcony with glass and it had metal on the bottom so we couldn't see out unless we stood up. Very few people to help you navigate the ship and the signage is almost non existent. The maîtred in the ship restaruant was very good as was the mgr of the ship's buffet. The food was just okay; sometimes good and sometimes not so good. The ship has many drink packages and they screwed up most of them. The people on the ship including the employees complained where ever we went. More complaints than compliments. No need to get a drink package unless you plan to spend more than what you pay in drinks. Both with and without alcohol. The non alcohol package came with soft ice cream which they gave to anyone and it was rarely available but when the machines where working, it was very good. This package was supposed to come with flavored water etc... and they had no idea what this is. In other words we got screwed royally. The entertainment was good but very repetitive; acts were repeated each night to a different stage ie... lights, costumes etc... Some of them were very good and some seemed to need more practice as they were out of sync a lot when dancing. The stingray excursion in the Cayman's was excellent and I highly recommend it but it is less expensive going on your own than booking through the ship. The last day in the Bahamas was terrible as the ship failed to tell us that it was their labor day and most everything was closed so after walking around in the heat we went back to the ship's swimming pool. The pools are not big enough to accommodate the amount of people on the ship and not enough pool seating. The casino was just okay and I never saw all the games up and running at one time. Few personnel to take drink orders and fix machines when necessary. Not enough slot machines overall compared to other cruise lines. The bars were so understaffed that you had to wait and wait to just get a bottle of water. The people working there tried their best but they are so understaffed I can't express this enough. You wait forever to get someone to answer the phone when calling down to the desk. This ship is not ready for the American market. They cater to the European market. Americans expect to see people smiling and being nice, cleaning all the time and making sure you keep the germs to a minimum. This is not expected the European market I was told. I spoke with many people on this ship and only one person had all nice things to say. I am being very sincere and not exaggerating. I love to cruise but this is my first and last cruise on this cruise line. Read Less

Went with 30+ neighbors. Everyone was saying they should have had 500 less people and 500 more staff positions. First day was a nightmare. Door key wouldn't work; was told to go to guest services. Since it was day one and crowded we waited in line at least 30-40 minutes. It was a little before 2:00 p.m. so was told it should work now. Went back up and it didn't work. Asked room steward to let us in but he said we would have to go to guest services. Another trip and waiting in LONG line and they gave us new keys. Back up 9 floors and long walk to room (still carrying luggage we came on board with) - new key didn't work. Another ten minutes to get to deck five (elevators took 2 times to get onto due to crowd). Waited in line another half hour. Was told this time to go to room and they would have someone meet us there. Waited at our room for almost an hour. I even pretended to have had an issue and laid in the middle of the hallway hoping to have someone come to us instead of us going to them. After 20 minutes I realized cameras were of no value (except in Casino - lol). FOURTH time went down to guest services, waited in line a half hour and was told I probably had the wrong room or wasn't using key correctly - REALLY??? TRYING HARD to keep my patience (wasted 3-4 hours by now), so this time someone came up with us. Of COURSE he couldn't get into room and then determined it was the card reader and SOMEONE WOULD COME TO OUR ROOM AND FIX IT IN TEN MINUTES (we at least were FINALLY left into our room at this point). We waited two hours - phone didn't have any extensions to call and I think I hit about every extension possible to no avail). By the way, we were told the room steward had the afternoon off after getting our rooms ready (we found a housekeeper on another floor before we got left into our room and that is what she told us - after she came and tried our keys to no avail too). So finally our room steward returned and called for help on his phone. Someone came and HONEST TO GOD - SAID HE WOULD RETURN SHORTLY - I EVEN SAID HOW MANY MINUTES AND HE SAID GIVE ME 10-15. Well, NO ONE FREAKINIG RETURNED. We missed dinner and we were furious. Since we were there with 30+ neighbors they told us to let them know as they should at least offer us a specialty dinner or one day refund. After very nicely explaining what happened at guest services they let us talk to someone else and told us to stop down later or tomorrow and they would let me know what they would do. Stopped down the next day and nothing was done. The guy could see from the screen that we had issues and went back into a room and told us they would send something to our room. And guess what they sent for eight hours of NOTHING but aggravation - a simple bottle of champagne. Other than that, food was nothing like other cruise lines and elevators were atrocious - so crowded that most times it was impossible to get on first time. Buffet was a zoo - you couldn't even walk around to get your food. The ship was beautiful though. Read Less

I was offered a deal for this trip which included alcohol and some beverages. The price was not to bad. With that said, here are the bullet points. I will list the bad first so we can end this on a good note for MSC. I had heard that getting on and off the ship was quite difficult. We didn't have to much trouble except they had two men double booked into our room with my fiancé and I. They didn't take them off but just said not to worry about it. We kept seeing their names of everything we did for about 3 days and then were removed from the list. At most ports they only had one person doing disembarkations even when there were 3 stations. We did see them use 3 people twice and when we left the ship on the last day. The first thing that happened which was not the way to set the mood was that I went to the bar and asked for a glass of prosecco or champagne (our drink package included all beer and wine and bottom shelf cocktails up to $6) and was told quite rudely that it wasn't included in my package. After paying for a glass I went to a different bar and was told the same thing. At dinner they brought the wine list and there was champagne for $6. I asked and the waiter said, of course its included, with a very nice smile. This continued for the next few days with one bartender saying yet and one saying no. At the CC cocktail event I asked to speak to the bar manager. A not so very pleasant individual who said there must be a lack of understanding and communication and walked away. Not sure if he said anything to the staff but I didn't have that problem again. The room was clean and well furnished but with only a chair in the room and two small draws like sock draws there was no place to put our clothes. We had to live out of our luggage for 8 days which we had to put on the chair and the two small nightstands we had to bring around for that purpose. Food, While I wasn't impressed with the food it wasn't terrible. Not what I would expect from a European cruise line, especially the Italian items. The tiramisu was nothing but sponge cake with not lady finger to be found. The chicken parm, I don't even know what to say about that. We left dinner without eating and went to the buffet, on ITALIAN NIGHT, on an Italian cruise line!! I am posting some pictures to show some of these things as well. WE did pay for the upgrade to two dinners. What is called the duo. We chose the steak restaurant and the Asian restaurant. We didn't really see anything on the menu that came in the package but was told that if we want to upgrade we would only pay half of the listed price, remember, on top of what we paid which was about $35 a person per meal. We upgraded to a tomahawk steak for two and two main lobster tails (see picture of tails and menu). these were not Maine lobsters but warm water tails. The steak was cooked almost to perfection but wasn't seasoned to much. Kind of bland. The tails ( we ordered 2) were quite small. When the bill came they had charged us full price for the tails and half price for the steak. They said that only one item would be reduced, of course. The bill was about $159 plus what we paid already and we were about $230. Little steep in my book Entertainment reviews were not very good. Complaining that there was a lot of opera. Not on this cruise. Entertainment wasn't bad. Not a big as other lines I've been on but ok. Its not a very big theatre so not very big shows. Mostly circus type theatre. Acrobatics on the stage with singing. I do not understand why they put a platform in the middle of the pool deck. I see the big H (helicopter) on it so it may have been required by law but to cut your pool deck by more than half was a mistake. It was very hard to find a lounge chair and if you went up to the other levels they allow smoking, including cigar smoking. We had to move quite a few times. The itinerary for the ports was done poorly. We got to Puerto Rico at 5 PM and left at 11:30pm. Not much you can do or see at night. St. Thomas was full day and our best port. St. Marteen was another half day from 11:30-5:30. Nassau was also a half day. Maybe loose a port and stay longer. For the first 4-5 days there are people trying to sell you upgrades to both dinners and drinks. It was a little much after the first day. With all that negativity here are some pluses. Our cabin steward was awesome. Always there and if we had a request he was right on it. The ship was clean and neat, if not laid out to get from one end to the other without changing floors. The food in the buffet was decent, not great, but not bad. At the Cruise Critic cocktail event the captain honestly told us the reason for the cocktails and cake was so we would all write wonderful reviews. I'm glad for his honesty but that's a little much. We had a balcony room and was very excited for this cruise. Room and ship was nice. Mattress was uncomfortable to me but I'm pretty particular about whatI sleep on. Buffet food was ok but it was literally the same EVERY night for a week. Dining room food was terrible and always served cool. I only liked one night of the dining room food. My table mates also didn't care much for it. The shows were nice although somewhat repetitive. They decided to wash the balcony room glass banister while in St.Thomas. This actually made my balcony area dirtier than before. Had all kinds of hair and dead bugs on my balcony that wasn't there before. Plus it soaked all of the outside eating area on deck 8 so there wasn't any seats left inside during the lunch rush after returning to the ship after a day on the island. Just horrible planning. There were more issues but I think anyone can see how this cruise went. I did like how they are not in your face to take pics all the time but they are always pushing their specialty dining restaurants and drink packages. The ship is understaffed. Maybe it will be better when they get fully staffed. Hopefully food will get better. For now I'll stick with Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, or Carnival. Oh and twice during our trip their were toilet issues so toilets on our floor wouldn't flush. Read Less

First off, the boat was beautiful. We had no problems with the cleanliness of our room and our cleaning lady was great except for the few times she didn’t give us face towels. When we boarded the ship there were staff from the few restaurants offering us a “deal” for dinner. So my boyfriend and I said sure why not. Later that night we decided we were tired and decided not to go. When I called to cancel, the man told us that it would be a $10 fee to cancel the reservation because we didn’t cancel 24hrs before our reservation time. How can I cancel 24hrs before if I have only been on the cruise for 3 hours?? That was the first annoying thing. The second thing was registering your MSC Cruise Card. You HAD to put money on it starting from $100 and up. We had no idea because that wasn’t in our paperwork and it was our frist cruise so we didn’t know if that was the norm. So he put $100 and that money went fast!! When we booked the trip we booked the Fantastica package which said it came with 12 free drinks pp but we never got those. We had to pay for allllll the drinks we got even soda. So we decided to just drink water. Then my boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves and get a drink at the main bar. My boyfriend gave the bartender a $5 tip and we left. Then later that night we checked our bill on the TV and saw that we had already been charged a 15% gratuity on our drinks already. We had no idea that they did that otherwise my boyfriend wouldn’t have given him the $5. Then as we looked at our bill we say that there was a $25 dollar charge on his account. We couldn’t figure out what that was as we hadn’t bought anything but those two drinks. The charge was labeled “service charge”. So my boyfriend called the reception desk and they said that each person is charged a $12.50 service charge for “tips for all the crew members, cleaning staff, and dining staff.” We were extremely upset because were young and we were on a budget and we had worked so many hours to save up the money to go on this cruise just to find out that we had to pay an extra $200 between the two of us to tip people who had never even waited on us. How is that fair? I’d rather tip people who directly served us or cleaned our room. I think that was ridiculous. Then on like day 6 of the cruise, our toilet like stopped working. It took them like an hour to come and fix it and then the next morning we woke up to a loud noise and realized that our toilet had no water. They finally got it fixed but it was really annoying at the time. Lastly, disembarkation was a MESS. We woke up early to make any last payments on our accounts and packed up our stuff to leave. We got to level 6 and the line was SOOOOOOO long. We waited an hour in line to get off. When we got to the part where they scanned our cards to disembark, the man said he couldn’t let my boyfriend and I off the ship cause we still had payments to make. It’s a good thing I kept the receipts from the transactions because they were giving us a hard time about paying these fees. Overall, the cruise ship itself was nice, clean and most of the crew was pretty friendly. But the hidden fees and the unorganization on the ship was enough for my boyfriend and I to say were never going back on a MSC Cruise again. Read Less

I've just got back from cruising with MSC Seaside. It was a terrible time to cruise with MSC. I had nothing to do on the ship. There was not much of entertainment. Maketplace Food buffet had not many varieties of food to offer. They had pizza, hamburgers, and hotdogs for the main food for you every single meal of the day: breakfast, lunch, after lunch snack, dinner, and midnight snack for 7 days straight that we were on the cruise. They would close the buffet on the dot, put all the food away, and only one or two counters left the serve the food. In my opinion, they were trying to upselling their dinner and drink package by forcing people not to have much choice for food on the buffet. Moreover; one time, I saw they were putting back fruits they put away from previous meal for you to eat. You know how the fruits that are not fresh cut and been refrigerated. Also, it's very annoying when they tried to sell you all those dinner and drink packages. This is definitely overrated. I didn't bother to go see the show of them. I'd walked around and saw people playing cards; even young kids, they played UNO. They must be very bored and had nothing better to do. There are not many shopping shops on the Seaside, so nothing much to check out. There is a screen TV at the aft of the ship. Unfortunately the choice of their movie on the night that I went to give a try was very boring "Spiderman Home coming." The cabin was so so, nothing fancy. The sheet, comforter, towels, and stuff were old, had a lot of lints It's very irritated to my skin. Towels were smells and ripped. One of the destinations was Puerto Rico, arrived at 5pm. What they want us to do at 5pm and we had to be on board by 1am. or 1.30pm, and there were nothing much to walk around and see either. It's not very impressive for the first time with MSC. I wanted to go home on the second day that I was on the cruise!!! Oh..there a good thing about MSC. Their desserts are pretty good. They are not extremely sweet like desserts on the main land in the US. They are good at creativity and recycling as well. They would use leftover fruits and nuts to make cakes and other desserts, very delicious indeed. I've heard pizza are very good too, but I'm not a huge fan of pizza. Read Less

We had high hopes for this cruise, but as soon as we embarked, we felt like we were going to have concerns. Embarkation was generally easy, we got onto the ship and registered our cruise card on the self kiosks, which was hassle free. We went to our room, which an announcement was made they were ready, and after 5 minutes, we were kicked out by the cleaning staff, saying they were not done. That was a hassle. After finally getting into our room, we settled in. The cabin and ship overall was very clean, no complaints there, but the cabin design seems very inefficient, even for cruise lines. We sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribean, and Princess, and MSC was definitely the most cramped. We were not comfotable at all during the cruise in that respect. The dining experience on the ship was very bland, nothing was bad, but nothing was good. The two buffets were always crowded and difficult to find seating. They offered plenty of choices but nothing that was great. We did eat at the dining room each night and the service was okay for a cruise, not great but not bad. Not up to of our expectations. Food was very bland, but nothing bad, just average. Portions were also very small, which was fine for us but for someone expecting a large dinner, don't expect that much. The entertainment was okay, it seems like it was the exact same show every night with a different theme. Shows were 30 minutes and were generally entertaining. The theater is small, and you must reserve your seats ahead of time. We actually got kicked out of a show because we had the wrong time! Never seen anything like that before. What really made this cruise awful was the ports of call and the excursions. You are only in a few of these ports for 5 hours or less! After taking the shipboard excursions, we literally has to run back to the ship twice to make the all aboard. We did not get to see any shopping or dining in St. Maarten or Bahamas. The quality and organization of the excursions are the worst I have ever seen on a cruise. Most of the time for the excursion was travel. DO NOT TAKE THE Jeep Excursion on St. Maarten. I don't want to vent, but it ruined our trip. MSC's organization of getting people off the ship was also subpar. Everything else about our trip was subpar, the photo package was a nightmare, trying to sift through literally 10,000 photos to find yours was a joke. The internet package also eats your data very quickly, even when not using it, and everything they do on MSC is an upsell. I know they want you to upgrade, but MSC made it clear you cannot enjoy ar go into part of the ship unles you upgrade to a higher package. And finally, the service was not very good. The crew spoke very little English and did not seem to want to help. Something I also have never seen on a cruise. Overall, my interpretation would be, MSC is like a JV sports team, they are good enough to make the team, but not good enough to play on the Varsity squad. Definitely, felt like a tier 2 cruise line. They really don’t know about boat services. So Over spent on passes. Had to run down servers to get drink service.. Corporate needs to add more employees on this boat. Not enough to give adequate services. Took the grandkids 10 years ago and MSC was great, terrible now. Don’t recommend now or ever. I was not the only person not happy with the way they were handling things.. which surprised me. As I am picky. Grand son age 7 enjoyed it, 16-18 not so much. A lot of people said MSC is growing to fast, and not paying attention to quality control.. wicker chairs were in bad shape, and need replacement. Food was a little mediocre, hit and miss good one night, next not so good. Servers were good. NEED MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF, IN GUEST SERVICES. Although the young lady did try to help me for 20 minutes, but in the end I had to give up/eat $300.00. TO MANY PEOPLE.. Read Less

We were so excited to go on the ship, we have cruised with RC many time and 1 time with Carnival,,, RC is our fav by fair!!! I had reservations about this cruise from the beginning when we booked it I wanted 5 cabins and upon paying for them my credit card locked us out after the first 2 the sales lady said no worries we will hold and pay for the rest in the morning upon morning we lost 2 cabins ended up getting back 1 which left us with 4 cabins, we weren't happy but we settled. this trip ment a lot to us as my son was asking his gf to marry him on this cruise.. we book 4 aurea rooms and had extended balconies ( do not recommend) upon arrival we booked excursions within 3 hrs was told they could not get our excursion for St Thomas and had to settle for another one (this was after we were garenteed it) then in St marten the excursion we sat on atv's waiting while the business owner was bugging out about having to many people and not enough ATVs (we booked 9 of them and only 7 showed up in our family so they had 2 extra and still didn't have enough) after sitting in the hot sun for over 30 min watching the owner run around not knowing what to do we left and found dunn buggies and rented them, more fun and no aggreivation. Back on board food was horrible only ate 1 night in the dining room 4 nights in specailty rest and 2 in buffet... food never changed and was not very good, rude workers seemed the only time they were nice was when you paid for extra stuff 1 of the front desk ladies were down right rude to us when we were trying to take out cash for the next day in bahamas,,, we had aurea and the alcohol package sucks, if you want to upgrade it has to be everone in the room, tried to explain I do not drink due to health reasons but no leway on this rule. so paid for our drinks, on this ship everything cost extra and they still treat you like crap. we ended paying a ton extra I could have gone to Atlantis in the bahamas for a week for what I paid on this cruise and still have some leftover money ( and I have gone there for a week many times) The times on port are not great PR at 5pm and leave ST Maarteen by 2... The aurea private areas after 1st day no one checked to see if you have a card to get in and was always crowded there... the boat rocks constantly even when docked so no stability.. in general not happy with this cruiseline.. but was so glad to be with my grown children and hubby and watching my son propose on the boat... oh yeah cabin stunk like cigarettes most of the trip anll 4 of my cabins and they were not cleaned when we got there, they werent vacuuemed Read Less

We choose this cruise ship, because I had heard good things about MSC and this cruise fitted our dates and where we wanted to go. A Group of 6 of us from America and the UK all booked to go together as we live on opposite sides of the world The ship is BIG, and there are ALOT of people on board. Although the ship is nice fitted out and still quite new, I don't feel that the public areas where big enough for the amount of people on board. Particularly the South Beach bar, which is the central area for smokers. We over 4000 people on board a smoking area an area that seats only abut 30 people given the % that is likely to smoke out of 4000 people is just not big enough. I found the ship really unhelpful with requests. Prior to sailing we had submitted information that MSC requested to ensure that all of 6 of us where on the same dining table for dinner. When we got onboard and received the information all 3 couples were on different dinner sittings, 1 couple in different restaurant and therefore of course all not together. When we tried to change this we were told we could then only have dinner at 9.30pm Why on earth would I want my dinner at 9.30pm!! The food on board was absolutely disgusting, to the point were it was almost inedible most days. This goes for the restaurant and the buffet. We ended up having to pay extra for the special restaurants just to be able to get (semi) decent food, with this racking up for 6 of us at about $600 per evening. The ports of call where nice but the times were just not practical. Feel like I might as well not bothered going to Puerto Rico as docking at 5pm and back on board at midnight is not really helpful to see somewhere the same goes for the Bahamas, docking at 12.30pm and on board for 5pm Embarkation was ok, fairly light lines compared to what I have seen before but disembarkation was another story, just chaos As someone that has been on over 50 cruises I will not be returning to MSC Read Less

We got a great deal on this cruise so we took it. Had never used MSC although we have cruised many times. WAY too big for us. 7,000 passengers and crew on this mega-ship! Hard to find places to sit outside, especially at the pools, elbowing people thru the buffet dining areas to get to the food, extremely long lines for all group activities (with many rude, pushy people cutting in line left and right!), lots of children running around. It was bedlam, nothing relaxing about this ship. We were on one of the upper decks at the rear of the ship so there was a constant rolling and shuddering movement in our stateroom. We were underneath the large pool so we could hear EVERYTHING being said and played on the loudspeakers up there, from morning bingo to the evening dance parties. No relaxing glasses of wine on our balcony this trip; too noisy! On the positive side, the service was very good and the food was excellent. Lessons learned for us- no more cruises on mega-ships, and be sure the cabin is mid-ship on a lower deck nowhere near the pool! Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the itinerary and the value. We have cruised many of the major cruise lines and have NEVER had a bad experience. This ship lack personality, service and friendliness. What was good on this ship was the shows, the coffee and the photography was outstanding. The room was clean and roomy enough for 2, the service was very good there. This is the only line that attempts to charge you for extras, the zip line, games ect. The food in the dining room was fair but not outstanding or timely by any means. The food in the buffets was not appealing, tasty or satisfying at all. Most of the time you had to clear your own table or look at food on the ground, VERY Unsatisfied with the overhaul cruise. I will not every recommend of book another one . I actually attempted to reach to to MSC direct and got not even a courtesy call back . Read Less

First of all, I got a room with a balcony that was presented in the pictures with a nice open view. The room I got half of the balcony is made a metal that doesn't have the nice open view. 95% of other rooms have the balcony made of a transparent glass that allows the nice open view over the ocean... sunsets etc.. Anyway... that was my first disappointment. I didn't get what I paid for!! It is very rare I go on vacation and it is exactly for these type of reasons!! you never get what you pay for!! Second, this is a cruise for seniors. I was there with my family and for my family given that we live on two different continents and we don't see each other for years ( last time I spent time with my sister was 8 years ago). My group included 19 yo, 23 yo, 40, and late 40s.We expected to be able to stay a little late than mid-night maybe meeting fun people. The ship is full with seniors, the programs are boring and everything closes at mid-night. Be prepared for long boring walks back and forth and trying to have fun. The two restaurants and three bars looked nice, the dinner was decent every night. They have options that they change every evening.Dinner is ok. In general the personal is ok. They don't speak english but eventually they would bring what you want :). The breakfast had two options buffet and a la carte. The buffet is super crowded. Food is ok-ish. It is a cantina type of serving. By the end of the trip everyone was coughing left and right in your food! :) I really don't recommend the MSC tours. There isn't much time to spend on each city/island and not much time for sight-seeing, they are very disorganized, expensive and you waist your time trying to get on busses then stuck in traffic. Try to make your own schedule, find a nice beach and go there. Most public beaches aren't too clean but at least you don't stay in a bus for hours. The bus we visited Panama broke in the middle of the highway, we waited 40 min while the driver tried to fix it (some type of belt broke), eventually they sent another one. I was very surprised, and they continue the tour in the old city. Third, at the end I experienced a very unpleasant situation with an employee that scan cards and make sure you are the person that travel. Instead of being honest and give the right information that I was selected for a security check, he told us that the system broke and I can't get out of the ship until an officer comes to see me. I had to wait long time while nothing was happening. It became very messy very fast because my family was waiting for me and we all had to say Goodbye and go on our way to the different flights. To speed up the process, because other people were waiting to get out of the ship, I requested someone to bring me to the security check and in the meantime I figure out the real reason why they stopped me. I find it very unprofessional to misinform people and very disrespectful creating confusion without any reason in an already crowded/messy situation. This type of personal shouldn't be on a "hospitality" business and he should be fired. I barely had time to say goodbye and hug my sister. The entire thing just turn my stomach upside down. Read Less

great service. poor and boring food. buffett food was thesame everyday, long lines trouble finding a place to sit. dinner in dining room. very poor choices, theyecpect you to pay for lobster tail, filet, which have been included in my other cruises. samething with ice cream they sell cones or sundays etc. it cost $ $ $ for manythings that have been included in past cruises. even room service has a charge. over 4,000 people long lines everywhere. including public bathrooms which were small and not nerally enough of them. Evening entertainment was good but the samedancers and singers each nite, which became boring after a while. We will NEVER cruise MSC again. most other people we talked to felt the same. no clocks in public places, on robes in the cabin. the staff were very hard working and very freindly. they are underpaid. i willstick with Carnival, princess or my favorite Holland American in the future. We decided to try MSC after more than a dozen cruises. The Italian food and ambiance was attractive and as first generation Italians we were excited to try MSC. The embarkation on 2-21 was a disaster and exercise in total customer disregard. Over 2 hours in a zigzagging line and when we reached the desk to register the young lady walked away to never come back. She apparently went for lunch but was not replaced. We had to butt in the next line to get served, and no apology. The good: 1- Nice looking ship 2- Good embarkation buffet with select cheeses, parmesan, prosciutto, etc. 3- Some nice and pleasant bars on the ship with music. 4- The price was descent considering the booze package (basic one) The bad: 1- The nice ship was dirty in many areas: public washrooms, buffet area, greasy chairs, inadequately cleaned tables, beverage station mess. 2- Most items seen at the buffet on embarkation day disappeared. I asked for prosciutto and was told there was no more but saw crew members being delivered a big tray with it and other nice items 3- Dining room was dismal. The food was totally uninspired, lukewarm, repetitive and tiny portions. We had to ask repetitively to get a glass of tap water and/or coffee. The Italian night dinner was an insult to my ancestors and the food was not even at the level of Olive Garden. 4- The buffet became terribly repetitive after 4 days (10 day cruise). The salads were discolored with shades of yellow, brown, rust, and gray. The cold cuts were unsafe as we could clearly see mold and dry edges on the sliced meats. 5- The buffet lay-out was a mess as it created both gridlock and butting in. 6- Getting served a drink near the pools or bars was not easy. We ended up going to get our drinks ourselves but often waited 15 minutes to get served by one of the 4-5 bartenders who were more focused on counting ice cubes or joking with one another. 7- Our cabin had no wash cloths and we had to ask every day to get some. I guess Europeans don't use them ?? 8- Our TV did not work. We didn't care for watching TV but like to check the accuracy of our statement regularly. We complained several times and were promised a tech guy would come by "soon". After 10 days we never saw anyone. 9- We were sold a balcony room "unobstructed" but it was. Life boats in front of us, a 15 foot overhang above, and 20 ft wall on LHS jutting out. We had passengers and crew members just below our room walking and smoking, despite being on the non-smoking side. We filed a complaint but it probably got lost in file 13 10- Shows were repetitive -opera and musicals with terrible sound modulation. 11- We never got our prizes for wining trivia. We also never got our Gold Member fruit basket + 1 hour Spa session + Welcome back cocktail and yet we have an email confirming these. Read Less

We had chosen this cruise line because we were helping a friend celebrate his Birthday. We booked 1 year in advance. The dates changed, the number of ports were changed. But the line and travel agent said otherwise I still have the original pprwrk. Cost us money to change our flight.. .So the ship is lovely. Not much shopping. 1 of our bags was at the door when we arrived.. The other took 6 HRS to get to the room. We were told to go to security when we met it coming down the hall. THE Original drink package we had was ALL included.. upon arrival, it CAHNGED to anything under $10. We asked for an iorn, told we had to reserve and might get it the next day.. then told we had to fill out a paperbag so we wouldn't disturb him again.. lol. We ordered roomservice 2 times. The 1st time EVERYTHING was wrong except the coffee and cereal. The 2nd time it NEVER showed.. Hope you like pizza.. the menu never changes on the buffett. The bars close down early. So if you're looking for a drink at 830 pm.. good luck. 2 bars were out of the WINE I like, 1 bar was closed and I was instructed to go elsewhere. So, I gather Italians don't know how to party.. The shows sucked sooo bad. So bad. DON'T DO THE SHOWES, YOU NEVER GET THAT TIME BACK. We ended up in San Juan at 5 pm. The homeless people were already ASLEEP!!!! Originally we were supposed to be there 2 days.. only on port 7 hrs. You can feel the boat rock soo much.. take dramamine with you.. you could feel it on EVERY floor. The dinner package is not worth it. You only get to order from a small menu (hope you like crab cakes). The other 2 ports were ok.. 2 days at sea. 2 Days at sea !!! Where the alcohol was running out. AND The chocolate was running out. So it was good luck to everyone.. on anything. HOPE everyone has happy meds.. OMG the mess of diembarking taking your own luggage.... IT was a mess!! Took over an hr to get off that HORRIBLE boat. Had a line that wrapped around mid deck. People cutting line, just stressful. Then they let us go out with the Canadiens. Smh. Free at last! Why I will never sail on an MSC Cruise again. 1. They gave me, a returning customer who brought another couple along with us this time a room with an obstructed view and refused to change it. They up-graded our friends who had never cruised before but not us! 2. They confiscated my two bottles of wine for our stateroom at embarkation even though my travel agent has checked and told me that this is allowed. 3. The free drink package they offered as an incentive to sail which vaguely offered “selected cocktails” did not include ANY of the popular cocktails you would want to drink on a Caribbean vacation!! NO Pina Colada! NO Margarita NO Mojito NO Captain & Coke NO Daiquiri NO Martini 4. When I complained about the obstructed view room I was given the customer service rep said they were completely sold out but would contact me after we arrived in Puerto Rico where some passengers may be debarking to see if there was another room they might transfer me into. No one ever contacted me. I love to cruise and average two a year. My wife and I sailed on the MSC Divina in February of 2017 and had a good time, and after hearing about a special promotion which promised free drinks we decided to return to MSC for a sailing on the Seaside on February 16, 2016. The literary was lousy with a 5pm docking in San Juan (no time to see a beach) and aside from that only two ports to enjoy the Caribbean sun, St. Thomas and St. Marteen. We thought the predominantly sea days would be enjoyed with food and drink. I booked a balcony room in their “Bella” class which allows them to choose the room before sailing. My sister in-law and her boyfriend were joining us so we requested close or adjoining cabins. We also requested the main dining time of 7:15 so we could enjoy the shows and off ship excursions without fear of rushing back to eat. Our troubles began when we received our boarding paperwork and discovered that they bumped up my sister in-law to the 15th floor Fantasia class and assigned us an obstructed view cabin on the 12th floor. I called my travel agent and MSC to complain and offered to pay for any upgrade to the same level so we could travel together and was told the ship was “completely sold out”. This was a lie as I went on line and was able to book a room on the 13th floor at that level with no problem.. if I completed the on line booking. I was told I could go to customer service once on board and request a room change. We arrived for embarkation on Saturday Feb. 16th when the problems continued. Despite my travel agent confirming before hand that passengers were permitted to being two bottles of wine or Champaign to consume in their room, my wine was confiscated by MSC at check in. I was given a receipt and told the bottles would be returned to me on the last night of the cruise. When we got to our room we discovered someone else’s baggage delivered to our room with the same room number on them. I later discovered that those people were also upgraded to another room. The room we were assigned had a half balcony with the other half and 30% of our view obstructed by the ships support structure. The pre-purchased wi-fi also didn’t work and the dinner time we were given was 5:15pm.. even thought I had requested the 7:15 seating so I headed to customer service. I spent three hours of my first day on the ship waiting in lines. This was not the cruise that I had hoped for. Customer service was ineffective and apathetic. They offered to up grade my drink package for an additional $450.00!! They gave me the worst balcony cabin on the ship and made no effort to correct it! One night our waiter told us there was “no more Merlot” and we are only entitled to “house wine” on our drink plan which is whatever is on hand! One night a drink waiter took our drink order and never came back! Debarkation was also a problem. The long line to leave the ship was mostly unsupervised and people were cutting into it and causing arguments. Even though my credit card was run and I signed documents to allow MSC to bill my expenses to the card, I was pulled off the long line and made to wait on another line for them to again run my credit card! Being a frequent cruiser, my email is full of cruise company offerings every single day. I will be deleting MSC offerings because of the way they treated this returning guest! Read Less

Ship was okay Cabin with balcony was great Dining in the restaurant was horrible. However buffets were better with plenty of variety Charged for any/all activity . Expensive. Attacked by so many staff members pushing drink packages. Embarking and disembark were very long for the elderly to walk. However the luggage at disembarking was very well organized Did not feel enough time for excursions or at each port. Pool experience was bad. Guests saved all the lounge chairs with pool towels and left to use the gym or spa or dining room and not return for hours. Management was well aware and decided to do something about it on day 5 of a 7 day trip. Found pool mgr to be very unfriendly and annoyed at guests Will not be returning on this line . Overall experience was not up to par. Most of the staff was very hard to understand due to language barrier although They tried very hard to communicate Read Less

The cruise was a gift otherwise I would not have chosen to cruise with this company. Much too big and too many people especially at the buffets and waiting to enter dining room, and in elevators. Also waiting to get back onboard from excursions at ports. Our cabin had a noise the entire week that no one did anything about. I was also sick with food poisoning the second night on board. The food was never as good as you would expect. I looked forward to pizza and ice cream and neither one was available anytime. Too many extras to pay for and excursions were over priced on board. The staff were all friendly, the entertainment at the theater was good, but basically the same every show. I would never cruise with MSC or recommend again. Very disappointing. There were over 70 nationalities represented, so it was very hard to understand anyone or talk to or meet. Read Less

Poor food quality, felt like everything was reheated or sat under heat lamps. Poor variety. A lot of things tasted the same( example anything with a tomato base no matter if it was a soup, sauce, etc ..all the same) seemed like the gave a poor quantity and quality to make you want or have to pay for an upgraded food selection. Ex: you could get a ny strip steak ( tough and fatty by the way), or pay $ 20+ for the filet option. Never mind the reservation based restaurants VERY EXPENSIVE. The buffets offered poor selection, hamburgers wrapped in paper, nothing freshly cooked. Pizzas under heat lamps were ok at best. Carnival gives you a fresh made personal pizza ! Carnivals food was better ! dinner selections did not taste fresh, seafood selections tasted "FISHY" ; quantity's were small and food was slow to come out , so you didn't feel like sitting there and waiting for another plate. Enough about the food ! I think you get the point. boat is poorly set up ! very choppy, no flow ; You cant even make a loop around the outside deck to go for a nice walk. BIG MISTAKE. not one bar stool anywhere with a decent back to rest up against. Entertainment in the main foyer area is a joke, and to even see it you have to be on an upper level , or you have to tilt your head way back to look up at the entertainer. Arcade area was pathetic, and expensive, 3 or 4 games at best; 2 bowling lanes(expensive) POOLS LOL--- not one pool with a low end for the kids !!! Who's bright idea was that ?5feet deep or more! i hope you enjoy treading water or hanging on to the edge. OH and by the way, the cabin steward put a b-day card out on my b-day :) Great job Perci ! ; dining room staff/manager missed it until 2 days later. Read Less

After over a decade of cruising, we decided to try MSC Divina. Very disorganized crew. Late embarkation and disembarktion with no explanation. Lines for linking credit card to sea pass on ship. Only one customer service desk open. Bar service slow, rude staff, unless of course you are willing to tip an additional few dollars above the 15% already charged per drink. Those customers were catered to. Poor food selection, slow service from wait staff. Horrible problem with pushing and shoving of guests on this cruise, mostly from Europeans which was the overall consensus from most US and even some UK guests. Eataly steak house has no atmosphere and is nothing more than a pizza parlor with plastic chairs. Dining staff difficult to deal with to change dining time. Required multiple requests and standing in lines. MSC crushed a hard side suitcase with no responsibility taken by staff. Will not sail MSC again. Read Less

We chose the cruise due to the dates and itinerary from Miami Embarkation was disorganised, and chaotic. We did get off at every port and generally they were good. This was the worst cruise line we have been on by far. When we embarked the ship we found used Incontinence pads left in bins by previous residents, and no towels. Poor quality of food, very little fresh fruits and vegetables, one day we found mouldy cheese on display in the buffet. Very repetitive, lack of hygiene at best 3 star rating It is not worth pre-paying for any extra services as you get better treatment as a walk-in. We pre-paid laundry service which came back stained and crumpled. Some items had to be returned twice to get the staining out, caused by them. Our Internet package could only be on single device with only social media availability. We could have paid to add devices and access to e-mails! But didn't want to give this company any more of our money. Daytime entertainment was poor and moronic. Evening entertainment by the pool was the same. The theatre had some talented individuals which was let down by the choreography with the same stuff being regurgitated, just different songs, and frequently in Italian In the lounges again there was one or two talented performers. We did complain to MSC both onboard and post cruise but the tone of the apology letter in our view did not take our complaints too seriously. I have attached a selection of photos which show why we complained. Overall you would be better off trying perhaps Princess as better all round or maybe some other cruise line, but I would recommend giving MSC a wide berth. Read Less

Ship: The overall design is beautiful. The finishes are premium and the design is contemporary, neat, and understated. No crazy colors or pattern like you find on other lines. Cabin: We had a balcony cabin which was comfortable and well designed. The lack of shower curtain/enclosure did generate a fair bit of over spray, but it was preferable to the tiny showers on other ships. Dining: Buffet - Same variety of average food everyday at for 7 days - eating the same foods day after day. Specialty Restaurant - There were only 4 options and all were quite expensive. We did try them all and they were very good. Service: This was the biggest sore spot for me. I had the Fantastica experience. It's clearly advertised that one benefit of the Fantastic experience is that each person will receive 12 drink vouchers. When I went to Guest Services to request my vouchers on Day 1 I was told that I would not receive them since I had a drink package already. However this was not stated anywhere, on any communication I had received from MSC. I was bewildering that they would not give me something which my cruise confirmation clearly states that I will receive as a benefit. The Guest Services staff onboard was totally powerless to grant me the benefit which was written in black and white in the confirmation I was showing them. They had to send an email to their headquarters in Italy to ask if it was OK to confer that benefit to me. In the evening on Day 4 (of a 7 day cruise), I received a call to stop by the Guest Services desk to pick up my drink vouchers. So I got to use that benefit which I paid for less than half the cruise. I didn't even get an apology for not providing them on Day 1 like they should have. Shore Excursions: We took a shore execution in St. Thomas. It was a ferry boat trip over to St. John with an open bus tour and beach break. We waited on the ferry boat for over an hour before departing because the MSC Shore excursions staff had oversold the trip and they were trying to kick some passengers off the excursions. Those passengers were understandably unwilling to give up their spots since finding a last-minute shore excursion was going to be impossible. On the return trip we again waiter over an hour on the ferry boat before departing because, other guests were late returning from the beach and the MSC staff was powerless to keep the excursion on schedule. I spent over 2 hours of port time sitting on a boat waiting for other passengers. It was unacceptable that the MSC shore excisions staff was so unprepared. I had planned to use that extra time to explore the port town, but was not able to due to the delays on the excursion. I would not go again on any MSC cruise and can't recommend it to anyone. For the money, go on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian and enjoy your vacation. Read Less

We choose the MSC Divina to try a different company and heard that it was a good ship. The ship was nice and most personnel were friendly. We were extremely disappointed for the food , most of the time cold . The buffet was the same lack of choices and food is precooked and cold. The dinning restaurants mostly for breakfast was a disaster, your order was always cold or they would forget to bring your toast, orange etc.... Many times they ran out of food such as bagels , juices, fruits. As for entertainment, it was average, always the same song and dance, no variety. We had the "Drinks in us pakagd" which was good but many times depending the bar you get your drink would tell you the drink you ordered in not part of the drink package and would try to charge you full price, many descrepencies and often frustrating. Bottom line , I expected better from this Italian ship especially the food, always cutting back on quality and portions, if you wanted something descent you had to pay about 25-30 us , all about the money. This was my first and last MSC, will stick my other carriers. Read Less
