I love Transatlantic cruises. The days at Sea and made for me! There is so much to do, and nothing whichever you wish! Embarkation on Sunday was a breeze . We were warmly welcomed by the crew, who were outstanding from start to finish! Our delicious days at Sea were fabulous. We stay on Aqua so enjoy the Spa with those warm tile beds! Blu restaurant is beyond fabulous. Terrific food and service every night. The beyond the podium speakers were really good on the trip. We learned about our destinations, fish and comedy which was most enjoyable and informative. The casino was fun at night and the blackjack dealers were patient and very professional. We enjoyed playing tri dominos in the Ocean View at night which was cozy and nice for a snack! Eddie and Guisepi were terrific at various games including trivia which was fun. Our stop mid trip in the Azores was wonderful! We took a private tour we learned about on Trip Advisor and really enjoyed the countryside and a delicious meal at a locals restaurant. Our stops in Ireland were wonderful and the Waterford tender not a problem. Again we had private tours and loved it. The entertainment was very good , and when we were not playing tri dominos we enjoyed he shows. Disembarkation in Dublin was easy. The port needs to smooth out the egress process as there were many buses and people seeming confused. Otherwise just perfect. Oh, and we loved the Indian, Mexican dishes in Oceanview, enjoying every day at lunch! Great ship and crew. My only complaint were some fellow Americans who were pushy and sometimes rude to cries members. Read Less

I would rate the cruise as 4, except for the failure of the cruise-line to take responsibility for the online website error. In future, we will not book through Celebrity's website. We booked the cruise online and pre-paid gratituities online, but ended up paying an additional $450 for for the cruise, due to an issue with the Celebrity website. The registration information for one of us was either lost or deleted, since upon check-in to the cruise, there was record of only one of us being booked on the cruise, eventhough it was confirmed that we had paid for two. In booking online we also chose to includthe gratuity charges, but it seems that part of our registration was either deleted or lost as well. So the entire online booking hassle from check-in to check-out had become a source of irritation unfortunately. We chose to pay the gratuity cost again because we wanted to ensure that the staff who served us were compensated for their service. The food was very good quality at Oceanview Cafe, but in my view much less so on several occasions in Moonlight Sonata. With so many choices at the Cafe, it was difficult to not find a choice that suited, especially at the station where fish, chicken or meat could be cooked on the grill while we waited. The choice of breads and deserts were wonderful. At the restaurant, one more than half of those Moonlight Sonata experiences, the quality of food experience was much less so, and the main choices were repetitive. However the restaurant serving staff were great in our experience and made up for the food quality. We ate at the Tuscan Grill twice and it was an excellent experience both times. There were many activities. The age group on the cruise overall was 50+ (a lot of grey heads!) but the music choices in various venues was surprisingly age inappropriate in various venues around the ship. The Sky Lounge on deck 14, seemed a wonderful venue to sit and enjoy the ocean view with a coffee or glass of wine, but whenever we checked it out, there was a loud disco-type lounge experience or some type of exercise, dance, or games-type activities were going on. We enjoyed many of the lectures and presentations and some of the entertainment. There are certainly lots of activities to choose from. We booked shore excursions online through Trip Advisor, and in Ireland booked directly with Paddy Wagon Tours, which was a wonderful experience. We would likely cruise with Celebrity again, but we will not use Celebrity's website. Read Less

Transatlantic cruise. Pros: nice ship, well kept , comfortable cabin. Cons: mediocre food....I feel they really cheapenned the menu both in main dining room and cafeteria. I had to really search to find appetizing items. In the cafeteria there was always a large section of east Indian food. I asked why and was told people want it. . I rarely saw anyone with those items. They need input from folks who understand US food preferences for US departure cruises!! And the non East Indian section was poor. I think they kept warming up the same pot of beef stews and chili for several days. A big disappointment compared to other cruise lines (NCL or Princess). Entertainment was so so. No Broadway type shows or big productions. Solo acts for the most part. Concierge class is NOT WORTH any extra money. Don't fall for it. Miniscule limp mid afternoon appetizers and use of binoculars and umbrella etc. Glassblowing hot shop was a plus. But overall a c+ grade at best. Unlikely we'll partake of celebrity again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we enjoy Transatlantic crossings and this new itinerary to Dublin really worked for us, as we could then tour Ireland post cruise. We were not disappointed. Everything about this cruise was perfect. The ship was beautiful and all the crew members were friendly and professional. Embarkation was so easy and we were on board and shipping "champagne" in less than half an hour. Dining: we picked Select Dining. We usually eat at the late sitting, so this was a first for us. We were a party of 5 and ate together every night. Our "team" for table 505 was outstanding and we were lucky enough to have the same table every night. Manny, our waiter, was wonderful; he was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Priyan, the Assistant Waiter also did a great job. Both he and Manny made our dining experience so enjoyable. The food in the MDR was very good and there was always something on the menu that suited us. Natasha, the Hostess, also did a wonderful job. She was so helpful and it was thanks to her that we had the same table and team every night. Cabins: We were in a Verandah Stateroom on Deck 8, but after a few days we had to move because of really strong vibrations, making it difficult to sleep. Avoid stateroom 8303! All was fine with our new cabin. Both stateroom attendants were excellent. Manuel in 8303 and Muhe in our new stateroom, both did an excellent job at keeping everything clean, getting extra towels, hangers and wine glasses! Guest Relations: A special thank you to Ryan who was more than helpful and professional when we had the issue with our stateroom. He made sure that our move went well and followed up to make sure everything was okay. Entertainment: First of all, a special mention for Eddie Jenkins, who is possibly the best Cruise Director we've ever encountered. He did a fantastic job and was visible all over the ship all the time. Guiseppi also did an amazing job and was very funny. The entertainment, for the most part, was very good, but the production shows really need improving - they are not a good showcase for the talented performers. Loved Jordan Bennett and Jayne Curry was fabulous; we were so lucky that she was on this ship. She kept popping up all over the place and was so talented. The only thing that didn't work was the nightmare of disembarkation. Others have written about the chaos on the dock after we landed. We waited for over 1 1/2 hours to get a cab (and we'd ordered one in advance!) because it couldn't get to the dock! We were only thankful that we didn't have a flight to catch! I hope Celebrity and the port can work something out to make it more efficient. Read Less

Love repositioning cruises, but that wardrobe code calls from warm weather to colder weather. So we have to pack more, but still try to come in under airline limits (44 Lbs), and we’re traveling for a total of twenty days. I decided to kill the Black Tie dinner. Okay it is always nice to dress up a bit for dinner, but I can’t justify in a tight packing situation, carrying a full suit, dress shirts, ties, dress shoes etc. on a twenty day vacation for what might be a total of three hours (two 1 1/2 hour dinners). And, the focus is supposed to be on a fun leisure cruise. I saw some passengers who opted for full Scotish attire, Kilt, Jacket, Sporan, ceremonial Dagger, Socks, Laced Slippers etc. Don’t get me wrong it looked great, but it probaly weighed in total about 20 Lbs, and for a total of three hours in the dining room. The cruise lines seemed to have backed away from the Midnight Chocolate Buffets, Sunday Dining Room Brunches, Dinner with the Captain, in my opinion guess what should be the next to go. My packing restrictions just wont allow it nor does it really make any sense. Also, even if it’s just when I’m heading to the Caribbean, the last thing I need to pack is a Tuxedo. Let’s focus on Fun and Leisure. Read Less

This was a trans Atlantic and it made stops in Ponta Delgado, Waterford, Cork, and Dublin, Ireland. We initially signed up for the following cruise to Ireland, Iceland and Shetlland Islands then decided to give this a try, our first trans Atlantic. It was a great decision. We had a very smooth crossing, way smoother than the follow on cruise. The guest entertainers were outstanding, especially Jane Curry, a singer/comedian. Her show was SRO. The Beyond the Podium speakers were also informative and entertaining. There were so many activities it was hard to decide between them. There was music throughout the ship and it seemed at all times. The CD Eddy Jenkins and the Activities Manager, Giuseppe were hilarious together and made the cruise so much fun. The service in all venues including the Oceanview was very good. Food was very good to excellent. In lieu of an included beverage package perk, we decided to take advantage of a price drop after final payment and upgraded to a Sky Suite. With lots of sea days we really appreciated Michaels Club. I loved their afternoon tea and there was usually live music to accompany it. Manuella the Michaels Club Concierge was so helpful and Neville, our evening bartender was so accommodating. Eddy Jenkins took the usual Celebrity entertainments and enhanced them. For example, the Silent Disco became the Battle of the DJs. There was an evening of ABBA with dancing and a sing along, so much fun. This is by far the best cruise we have taken. With so much entertainment you didn’t even notice the 7 days at sea before we hit land. We liked the atmosphere and the attention of the waiters in Luminae but now know we prefer the more creative dishes in Blu. However, for a 15 night cruise with so many sea days, the extra cabin space and Michaels Club was appreciated. Read Less

Cabin attendant. Blu wait staff very attentive and professional but food quality better in dining room. The crew on this ship lacks the friendliness and warmth we found on the Siloutte and Reflection. We are really disappointed with this transatlantic compared to others. Crew is detached not attentive to detail. Even Luminae staff lacks professionalism and attention to detail. Hope this is not a trend for Celebrity. Michael’s Club bartenders have no idea of what they are doing. Tables remain filled with dirty glasses, no one clears them away. They seem indifferent. Martini Bar usually my favorite is dull except for momentary encounters when they are doing their flight shows. They do not remember our drinks, dont listen to what was ask for and deliver the bill before the drink certainly leaving you not wanting to order another. This ship seems to allow cigar smoking which is really horrible. We went to Sunset Bar for sunset drinks and had to leave be because lf the stink. This ship needs to be taught by the John Paul’s, JW’s and Niazi’s of the woeld how to give customer service. What a let down this has been thus far. Only hope it improves. The best part of this trip in a suite has been our room attendant!! Read Less

Celebrity continues to provide excellent service and amenities that other some cruise lines no longer have. The ship is easy to get around on and is well maintained. We had a balcony cabin but because it was a crossing and quite cool, we used it very little. The cabin was nice and well maintained. We had the best room steward we have ever had. He made sure that the cabin was clean and well organized. I had magazines on the table which he carefully arranged, he lined up pens and pencils and neatly folded clothes that were left out. Nightly chocolates are still delivered. Room service is complimentary. We ate only in the main dining room and found the food to be quite satisfactory. The dining room service was excellent. Although we did not eat in the buffet except for nightly ice cream, they would grill your meat or fish while you waited. There were enrichment lectures and many other activities. There was not organized duplicate bride provided by the ship which was very disappointing. Fortunately there was a volunteer passenger who organized bridge on the nine sea days. There were 28 passengers who played daily and there were another 10 who would have played if there had been room. In the future I will give priority to the lines that provide a bridge director. We were not impressed with the production shows but found the other performers to be great. As an Elite Plus passenger we and other elite and elite plus passengers have noticed that the quantity and quality of benefits seem to diminish with each cruise. In the lounge the number of drinks are being limited, the horderves aren't very good and the sparkling is not Celebrity Select. The ports were great-Punta Del Gado, Cork, Waterford and Dublin. We did our own thing in the first three and toured in Dublin. The tour was just okay-Malahide Castle and a pub for Irish coffee. Disembarkation was a mess. They kept telling the passengers that there would be limited taxi service and to make their own arrangements or take their transfers to the airport or city center where they would have to find a taxi to take them to their hotel. The warnings went on for five days. With the help of the Captains Club hostess I found a car service (I had been hung up on four times by taxi companies). As we left the port there was along line of passengers waiting for taxis and a parking lot full of taxis that the port wouldn't let in. The Dublin port is a working port and whoever was in charge at Celebrity for coordinating transportation really messed up and put a tremendous amount of stress on the Eclipse staff and passengers. We love crossings and wanted to visit Ireland, so this was a perfect fit! This would have been rated as a 5 star cruise, except for a couple of things. #1We feel that the quality of the food in the main dining room has slipped or was not as good as what we have had on previous crossings on Celebrity. #2. The disembarkation in Dublin was poorly executed and did not seem to be well planned. People had to wait for hours! A shuttle was advertised at a very inflated price, but then the price was lowered at the last minute. It only dropped off at two central points which did not suit us. We booked a private transfer ahead of time and were lucky. Our driver was able to maneuver his car into the port and get us due to cell phone communication. He was only delayed 30-40 min. in getting us, so we were very lucky. We got to our hotel and continued our day without much trouble, but spoke with others who had to wait hours. This is not acceptable! Other than these things, this crossing was wonderful and we will continue to plan cruises with Celebrity! Read Less
