We chose this cruise because it had been a few years since we sailed Norwegian. We previously sailed the Jade, and enjoyed it. Also, the NY pier is a 3 hr drive from our home. Bermuda is beautiful and I can leave a review regarding that on a Bermuda board, but for this review I am limiting my review to our time on the ship. The good: -Embarkation went smooth, less than 1.5 hour wait. -Sitting outside at the waterfront and dining during sunset. -Amazing view from an aft balcony -The drinks/drink package -Shows, particularly comedy, Marva Hicks, and wine lovers musical. The good and bad: The spa I bought over $800 worth of services and enjoyed it all. One down point here: I did purchase a nail fix as my most inexpensive service, $15 plus tax, to glue a piece of my nail down that was beginning to break. A couple of hours afterwards, it fell off anyway and the spa assistant manager refused to give me a refund. Because of this, I will probably not use the spa again even though the rest of the services were spectacular. I was even able to purchase the Keratase products I use on my hair here. My “vacation hero” was Amir from India who works in the hair salon. He was very personable and gave me a wonderful haircut. The bad: -Food. The food is generally not good on this ship. I am referencing the taste and beyond. The beyond refers to the night my husband and I repeatedly went to the bathroom with upset stomachs. My husband also orally could not keep any food down the same evening. The remainder of the cruise was full of upset stomachs, bathroom trips, bloating and gas. We both experienced this. I am probably used to a high quality of food but whatever the reason may be, we either didn’t like the food or became sick 60-70 percent of the time. On the ferry into Hamilton, Bermuda, other passengers also expressed their dissatisfaction with the food. Your best bets our the main dining rooms at lunch rather than the buffet and specialty restaurants at dinner, particularly Cagney’s and Teppanyaki. We ate everywhere except Le Bistro and Pinchos Tapas Bar. Staff onboard: Some staff members were exceptional, including our cabin steward Rochelle, guest service employees, Amir and Christina in the spa, bartenders and various waitstaff and we tipped amply on top of the automatic gratuities to show our appreciation. I suggest everyone do the same if they are willing and able. The problem with this ship is that service is hit or miss. We had very dismissive and slow service in La Cucina, for example. Also, when we called restaurant reservations to cancel reservations and free them up for others (after already making replacement reservations on our app), the female rep who answered was short tempered and impatient on multiple occasions. We were shocked that was the case when we were being courteous to other guests. Layout of the ship: The guest services, Internet cafe, main big screen interior television, bar, espresso shop and shore excursions are all in the same location with the art gallery not far away. Too many people are converged into this area of the boat at all times. There are also people walking slow and looking at art making it more congested. I have been on smaller ships that did not feel as cramped, including the Jade. I’ve also been on large ships that did not have this problem, such as MSC. In fact, Norwegian could take lessons from MSC as to how to lay out a large ship. -Disembarkation: Was a crap show. Our ship arrived into port late due to Hurricane Dorian and started disembarkation at 2:45. They gave out different colored luggage tags which were supposed to correspond with your disembark time. No one from Norwegian actually checked the tags until midway into the line or more and everyone appeared to converge on the gangway at the same time. Lots of people were visually frustrated and some verbalized it. -Water: Norwegian bring bottled water back to premium beverage package. It’s ridiculous that on a ship with wine and liquor everywhere, water appears to be its most expensive asset. Miscellaneous: Parking: We used a parking app, Park Whiz, to book a spot on 58th in walking distance to the pier. Very convenient to the pier. Shore excursion: Did not do an organized excursion, instead rented a Twizy during whole time docked. We visited Warwick Long Bay and John Smith Bay beaches and highly recommend both. The Twizy is uncomfortable for the rear passenger but a necessary evil to get around on your own unless you take a cab or bus or stay close to the ferry terminal. Visual appeal of Escape: 10/10 exterior. Inside, however, could use some color and rooms in need of refurbishment. I added this to miscellaneous as it is purely subjective and thus, I have tried not to base my review on. Read Less

MSC Prezioza Cruise Review: Our first and only try at MSC. This review is completely based on our honest review/opinion of our experience onboard MSC cruise line. Although we’ve been other lines, this is our first cruise with MSC. The following is our experience of Pros and Cons during our trip to Hamburg, Germany, Le Havve, Southampton, England, Brugge, Belgium and Rotterdam, Netherlands. Pros: Coffee is excellent. Overall cleanliness of ship and bathrooms were good. Bed is firm but comfortable. Buffet food to open all day with assorted food selections. Some staff were helpful with our questions. Premium cocktails only if you’ve paid extra for the $900 premium package. They offer cheaper packages as well. Gym has a lot of exercise equipment. Frozen ice coffee is amazing. You get to choose an extra large plate/tray for any amount of food. Excursion desk was very helpful in rearranging our missed excursion trip. Some good bartenders. Cons: Constant multiple language announcements over the PA system that on average took 5-8 mins and during the morning hours of 8:30 am everyday as this was a European cruise. Limited (20 mins) time using treadmill. Machine shuts down automatically. Some users reset multiple times including us. No view of ocean when working out - only steel barrier. A bit frustrating - We needed to show passports on many occasions during boarding unlike others ships which is only one time when registering. We did not feel welcomed during the on-boarding process. No direction on where to go. Orientation to new guests was also disorganized. While walking onboard, some staff didn’t know where certain business were located. Some even told us to check the program so not so helpful with verbal directions. Only one restaurant assigned when booking so you’re stuck with only one restaurant but you can pay to dine at other restaurants onboard. Shower stall is extremely small. I’m 6 ft 225 lbs and could barely fit. Our room was a premium balcony cabin on deck 10 (middle of the ship). If you’re taller/heavier you need to consider this or possibly inquire about another floor or cabin. To wash my back, I needed to open the shower door to stretch and wash my back so the floor literally got wet. Very poor shower water pressure and only one trash can in balcony room. Pillows are dead, flat and very uncomfortable. Some bartenders made cocktails too sugary or weak. Need to explain carefully how you like your drink. If you’re going on all-day excursions on MSC, make sure you choose the second seat dining/dinner at 8:30 pm if not you’ll be eating at the buffet. We like kids but there were kids at all the bar rooms/lounges/clubs until late night. They shouldn’t have children hanging out at the bar. They should have a designated area for kids. We didn’t want to be a bar having a cocktails with kids around us. Other cruise lines we’ve experienced does not allow children near a bar let alone to sit at a bar. At the bar 8 pm one night having a cocktail and no music at all. Onboard entertainment is horrible in our opinion. Entertainment is more child-like. Wife and I were having cocktails at the bar and the music suddenly stopped because they were going on a break. Only one band on the Prezioza cruise line. We left one bar and decided to walk over to two other bars and again no music. Paid for premium alcohol package but on one occasion was told that the bartender was on break. When disembarking for excursions, MCS needs to have workers directing where customers need to go. On several occasions, there were no directions provided so some were lost for a few mins. Very disorganized process. We left 2 cocktails in our room and upon return at night, the very same two drinks were still in the room. For the first 3 days we had sheets on the bed but then for 2 days, no extra sheet under the blanket which would be typical in cruise lines hotels etc. Read Less

We’ve done numerous cruises mostly with other companies, this was our 4th with MSC. We realise it was still school holidays but feel there should have been an adult only area to relax on sea days, and not the Top Sail area which is an extra cost. We found the food in the buffet lukewarm most of the time as was the water for teas etc. We only ate in the dining area one night as it took nearly thirty minutes to get any service, so opted for the buffet. Whilst we always found something to eat, the temperature of the food was lukewarm and there never seemed to be enough staff to clear the tables and when they were cleared, piles of left over food were visible everywhere, most unappetising. Lots of mess on the floor left for long periods of time. Guests continued to fill their own water bottles at the water dispensers even though there were signs to the contrary and staff did nothing to prevent this, surely this is a concern when viruses and germs can spread. A lot of our fellow passengers felt the need to avoid the handgel at the entrance and then proceeded to barge you out of the way to get their food. There was also the usual hogging of sun loungers for hours on end with no sign of the occupants and no staff to remove the towels. On embarkation, it took nearly 2 hours to get through due to reduced security staff and only a handful of staff checking your documents and handing out your cruise card. Read Less

This was myself and wife 15th cruise all with Marella and the 4th time on the Dream as it was !! Our favourite ship in the fleet. I’ll keep the review practical many frequent Marbella cruise travellers hopefully get the key points. The positives are its an older ship but has some great venues and bars which makes the personnel touches better than the bigger ships and it proved no different from our previous sailings. The services from the bars and restaurant staff were excellent. The professional entertainment was excellent although some of the best act were too late in the evening. We read on an informative letter in our cabin on arrival that they listen to the cruise feedback reviews. They had decided they would let children use the adult pools which I’m not sure was thought through. We like the lido pool on deck 9 it has a children’s pool but they all used the adult pool. Not supervised by staff and parents and just basic chaos all week. Jumping, pushing, shoving, inflatables the size of a person. Water guns the size of cannons firing all over the deck. We are not stick in the muds we have 3 children who don’t behave in this fashion. Three times we complained to reception and all we got back was they are the same throughout the ship. Ruined the holiday and experience. The sail away party the life and sole of these cruises was ruined by the life safety drill taking place at 10.00 in the evening which is unheard off. The food which was always the stalwart of the Dream has gone backwards!! Repetitive basis offering and the sweet selection was really poor. The Cruise Director spent more time trying to sell upgrades than actually information around the entertainment. The 2 hour flight delay coming and 5 hour delay going back didn’t help either. This is our 2nd Marella cruise this year which hasn’t come anywhere near expectations with delays and standards going backwards.one of the biggest frustrations is trying to get your voice heard. The Tui App on the ship is loaded with questions they want to hear rather than anything they don’t. The questionnaire they send you is just as frustrating and if you criticising too much will not let you complete. Prices going up and standards going down. Read Less

I have been on 85 cruises and I wanted to try a mega ship. What a mistake. From the moment I booked this cruise I felt like I was being hustled. I received emails informing me that I had to book my dinner reservations I had to book all my shows and I was given very unpleasant times with no choice in the matter . I also received several emails asking me to upgrade buying dining packages eating at restaurants and buying beverage packages and they just kept coming. Even at this early stage if I wouldn’t of paid in full I would’ve canceled the ship as I did read reviews and they weren’t very good. First of all the food is cold and second rate food they do not have good quality meat, fish chicken or pork. Everything is overcooked dry and tough. Most of them hidden with batter. When eating your dinner they come along and try and sell you a package to eat in their 12 private restaurants with no regard whether you’re eating or not. They hustle drink packages all along the boardwalk and every entrance throughout the ship. This ship should be renamed hustler of the seas. We joined the spa to use the steam room and they even added an 18% tip on top of that just to use the steam room and only 4 lounge chairs for 6500 people ruin the spa. We have never witnessed so many unhappy and dissatisfied passengers on any ship as this one. This ship has zero security they all hide. This ship is geared for mainly miss behaved children. We were in room 10 612 and it was very small for a balcony room but we had a great room steward. The drinks on the ship cost more than any other ship we’ve been on. We purchased a martini and a Cosmo and that bill was $31 for those two drinks. We were not interested in the drink package as people were complaining there was no liquor in their drinks. The shows were OK. The wipeout café is the only restaurant where you can get a omelette made. The wind jammer has repetitive food every day and some of it’s left over from last nights dinner. The solarium restaurant was nice but repetitive food again also cold. There is hardly enough entertainment and when there is they have five things going on at the same time. We were told that between passengers and crew there over 9000 people on board. It did not feel like a cruise it felt like a floating mall full of used car salesman. The staff is friendly but they’re trying to sell on a nonstop basis. On formal night I was in my tuxedo and next to me was a man with his T-shirt shorts and flip-flops eating dinner and that was acceptable on that ship. If you like to cruise for the art of cruising stay away from this ship you will definitely regret it. Read Less

We were guided by our Cruise company to book this one as it fitted the dates and they said it was a good itinerary and lovely ship. The departure city, Venice is breath taking and it is worth spending time having a look around or booking an extra night before or after, but be careful where you stay as lugging suitcases around Venice over bridges is not easy. The Ship, looked nice until you got closer, there was lots and lost of maintenance going on, frayed and lifting carpets on stairs and busy places, broken chairs, beds etc, dirty windows you could not see out of. The cabin was spacious enough (balcony), we spent a considerable time in here as the ship was full to bursting so space was not something you had in comparision to other cruise lines. Food, there was plenty if you had no allergies, my husband enjoyed the savoury the sweet all looked different but tasted the same something sweet! Ports; there were some we were so excited about, but sadly one we failed to arrive due to the weather, however we were informed by staff this happens regularly for Mykonos, so be warned re MSC cruise lines and this port. Athens was lovely and well worth a visit but it is so so hot, need to go out first thing and be under shade in the cool by midday. Activities; they were all done on the deck in the hot sun, so for those whom needed a little shade they could not take part. The shows were good and had different kinds each night, some were really clever especially having the entertainers who were more acrobatic so it made it more visual. Staff, we had a couple of nice ones, however there were some very rude and unkind and unhelpful which impacted a lot on the cruise. Reports of issues took forever (a whole week) to finally get resolved which is far too long. They are not Deaf Friendly or accessible with no transcripts for a Deaf customer, no subtitles on the TV even though they have the subtitles on the remotes and up to date smart televisions. It does seem unfair that a Deaf customer pays the same as everyone else but they do not think about basics that could make it accessible. Having said that they did have areas for disabled people, but again passengers did not care and used them, even when disabled people came along and wanted to access the area the other passengers refused to move who were NOT disabled, staff asked and senior staff, but they point blank refused, disgusting that the staff cannot force them to move as disabled people have enough to deal with, but to not have seating or places that are set out for a person with a disability is plain wrong. This was the same for the lifts, you had to force yourself in to get on a lift if in a wheelchair or with a mobility aid. The one thing we need to warn you about; EVERYTHING costs more, even a class of tap water from a bar is 75 cents!!!! Extra service charges at every turning, we sadly had a deal where gratuities were included, we so wished they had not been part of the package as the cruise line did NOT DESERVE it! We spent a lot of money on the cruise itself and then far far too much (even with watching what we spent on the cruise) on the cruise, it meant it was not 'a good deal' and the ship was not to the standard of P&O, Holland America or Princess cruises; the staff need a transplant in customer services and being sincere and polite. The passengers on the ship, well a high proportion were rude, pushing in, shouting and screaming, smoking in areas that were clearly labelled non smoking, it resulted in us preferring to be in our cabin, luckily we had a balcony, to be comfortable and not having to endure the horrid people and their rudeness and arrogance. Be warned MSC are out to bleed you dry of every penny you have, have a good level of spending money if you dare to try MSC. Be prepared to shout and scream to get things sorted and to be rude and abrupt too! Not a pleasant cruise in fact we feel we have wasted a years savings and have returned with bills and charges, annoyed and upset. We will NEVER use MSC again. Read Less

My family and I wanted to take a end of the summer vacation together. We cruised August 16-19th. We honestly decided to cruise Norwegian because of the open bar, because we normally cruise Royal Caribbean but drink packages for 20 is a tad expensive. Norwegian open bar was really not worth it the staff was so rude and made the guest feel unwelcome like we were annoying them. The food on the ship was disappointing. A lot of the food was like hospital food with little flavor. The service from the staff was horrible. The majority of the staff including the bartenders and waiters was that they appeared to be annoyed by the guests and seem to have a careless attitude about providing good service. I have travelled on other cruise lines so I understand what quality customer service is and it was not there on this trip. When I would approach a staff member with a simple question no one ever seem to have an answer and the majority of the staff was not able to communicate basic english to answer questions like “where is the bathroom”? Or “what time are we scheduled to be at our next destination?” We upgraded one of our rooms to a balcony and it wasn’t worth it. The room was so tight that you literally had to jump over one bed to get in the room. I really wish I had a picture of that mess. Also, before cruising I was told I had to put a $300 hold per room. I did not have to do that my room key was disabled from making purchases which was fine I did not want to make any purchases. So if your wondering I set my payment to cash on checkin and never went to the service desk to change it. No $300 hold and cards disabled. For smokers they don’t sell Newport’s so don’t run out. Based on this experience this will most likely be our last cruise with Norwegian. Read Less

My husband and I both choose this cruise a year and a half before our wedding as we wanted to get everything set in advanced. Additionally, we also booked the excursions online as soon as they became available. Firstly, this was our Honeymoon and I started this review mid-way through our cruise as we were so disappointed. We had quite a few issues and as we were only away for 7 days we seemingly had the worst luck possible. We arrived in Naples, Italy via a flight from Gatwick which overall wasn't too bad. The wait for the luggage was around 30 minutes so not a bad wait compared to what we had seen on other reviews. The crew on the ship are delightful and I cannot fault anything here. Everyone is lovely and so accommodating - Jaya, our cabin steward was brilliant and would recommend anyone to say hello if they ever pass by him. The only department I would complain about is the Excursion team. When we were in Dubrovnik no one had any idea who was queuing where and was a nightmare. My husband and I got told to go the wrong way/ into the wrong queue twice and other cruisers were having the same issue. Please, can someone make sure in the future there is a protocol for these members to run by as they had no idea? The food is great, and the a la carte dining experiences (specifically Surf and Turf and also Kora La) was amazing. The specialty restaurants are fabulous and would thoroughly recommend. Now, the massive negatives here are our experience with the port days. We are here only for a week for our first cruise and honeymoon. Just as we had got into our cabin, we had noticed there was an excursion ticket missing. So there were 4 days worth of excursions instead of 5. We had to go to the desk to find out what was going on as no other information was provided, no letters sent etc. When speaking with the excursion team, it turned out that our excursion had been cancelled due to congestion which I cover below. We had also taken out around £500 worth of euros, to be told that the currency on the cruise itself is GBP. No one mentioned this at all which is surprising and also disappointing. If we wanted to change this we'd end up with much less than what we set out with which again is a joke. We ended up using our credit card which was the last thing we wanted to do. Our first port, Messina Sicily was fantastic. We travelled to Mt. Etna and had a great time, no faults here. The port team was lovely and very insightful about our trip. The coach journey to Mt Etna was around 1hr 30mins (or so) however the lady who had done our tour (can't remember her name), was great. Our 2nd port was Drubovnik. Now, this is the excursion that was cancelled - we also were not able to Dock due to "congestion". This meant we had to wait for a tender to pick up and drop off hundreds of people. This was an absolute nightmare and we were not able to get on shore until 5 hours after anchoring. The tenders were also very limited which was above and beyond frustrating. This was at no fault of the cruise however none of the excursion team really knew what they were doing which made things even worse. When we were queuing for the tender after our ticket number finally being called the staff didn't even know what queue we were to get in, it was very disorganized. This meant we had 2 hours before "rush hour" to get back in the cruise. We had next to no time to do anything which is extremely disappointing and a massive waste to a day in a location we really wanted to explore more. The next day, the port was Ancona. My husband and I had booked the picture-perfect bayside duo. Originally when booking we were told we would be heading down to the pebble shores and would be able to take a dip in the fantastic beaches. Oh, how wrong they were, as we didn't even touch the beach. Sirolo was lovely but again after lugging our swimwear around we felt this day wasn't great but was not as bad as the last. The tour guide here was very knowledgeable in regards to the area and provided a better experience, even though we were disappointed as we wanted to go for a swim in such lovely weather. The 4th day, where we were when I started to write this review, is Venice. We were supposed to Dock at 5am, however, it was around 9am and we were still a few miles from shore. There was a power outage in the early hours of the morning which resulted in us both being woken up by several announcements between the hours of 1:30am and 2:40am. This, in turn, meant we did not manage to get to the Dock in time and as Venice operates a time slot functionality - we inevitably missed our slot and we had to wait until midday to dock. This meant our excursion, which was a gondola ride (the 2nd favourite excursion we booked) was cancelled, along with many others from other passengers. The destination desk was absolutely packed so there was no chance of us booking a different excursion. We were however given a cruise card credit of £50 each and of course, our excursion was refunded but the time lost on both this excursion and the other excursion (Dubrovnik) was just a little too much for us and we were overwhelmingly disappointed. On the 5th day, we arrived at Split, where we went onto our last excursion - Krka waterfalls. This was our favorite day and can I just say everything on this day was fantastic. Starting from the coach Journey with the tour guide (Coach 1, can't remember his name unfortunately - the driver was Ivan) down to the Waterfalls and exploring the nature park and then the boat ride back to the coach > then back to the cruise. The tour guide was awesome and hilarious and we're very happy with how this day turned out. The last day was a full day at sea. Unfortunately, this means everyone is up at the crack of dawn to get onto a sunbed where apparently if you leave your towel it is yours for the day. There was a note which mentioned if you leave it for longer than 45 minutes the items will be removed however I noticed some people were covering 2 sunbeds at times to make sure their partner could come back and I also noticed some people coming back to their sunbed for 10 minutes at a time and then leaving for another 30 minutes, cheating the system. This is very disappointing. Similarly, in the whirlpool, it says on the sign 15 minutes at a time however there were people in there for hours, m4eaning my husband and we didn't get a chance to go in there. The pool is nice when hot but very salty so head above water at all times. My husband and I ended up paying something around £3 to watch movies in our cabin as we'd already had enough of walking and trying to find a sunbed over a period of 2 hours (we went to the bar to wait for a further 10-15 minutes). Overall, including the cruise itself, excursions, euros we had taken and the current amount accumulated was around £4500. This is one of our biggest spends but I can certainly say we won't be booking this cruise again due to the disappointments with the excursions. We did, of course, get the canceled excursions refunded but there was no recognition to the fact that our days were wasted and we had to make our own way around with no insight to the locations whatsoever. We understand these things can happen but in our perspective, we had a nightmare on some days that became very stressful on what should have been a relaxing holiday away for a week. Read Less

We picked this cruise for our honeymoon because it went to Honduras and Belize which we had never been to before. While booking, we were excited about the free at sea options, we picked the beverage package and either the $50 to dining or WiFi (can’t remember). None of that mattered though because once we boarded, we didn’t have the drink package or anything else. We went to guest services and they said that was an issue with the internet services and that they couldn’t do anything about it. I emailed NCL about it once we got back and they haven’t contacted me. It was all just very impersonal, service was just okay. No one even congratulated us on our wedding. On Royal Caribbean, we always had a good time talking with our stateroom steward and dining room servers, but we didn’t have that kind of bond with any of the staff on the Breakaway. The food at the included restaurants was slightly better than Royal Caribbean. We did not pay for any extra food or shows. I thought it was irritating that you had to pay more for so many of the shows. I also hated that you had to reserve a spot at many of the shows because they booked up so early! The pool was incredibly tiny on deck which made our 2 days at sea less enjoyable and not having the drink package which we selected also did not help. It was easy to disembark the ship at the ports and we had the most fun on our excursions off the boat during the cruise. One of our excursions was cancelled while we were waiting on site for the boat to take us snorkeling in Harvest Caye. We got our money back, but I was looking forward to snorkeling on the barrier reef and it was irritating that it was cancelled so last second. All in all, the cruise was just ok but impersonal. NCL needs to work on their guest/ customer service. I would not cruise with them again. Read Less

I booked our honeymoon a year in advance and we decided to splurge on a suite for our honeymoon. I have spent hours reading reviews and suggestions on Cruise critic so I will try to give back by covering the different aspects of a Ruby Princess Cruise, both good and bad. Because we had a suite the embarkation process was great. We got on board around 3:30. We had reservations for Crown Grill (free because we were in a suite) so we didn’t want to eat too much. Cabin-Our cabin D737 was great. So nice to have a large cabin on a cruise. We were completely aft which I worried about having to walk too far, but it wasn’t bad and the view was amazing. I have to say for 2 people my husband and I agreed the suite wasn’t necessary. However , we did love the perks from the suite. The nightly canopees were too fancy for us, so we didn’t order anymore. Liked the daily fruit. We told our steward exactly what we wanted in the fruit delivery. Also asked for ice and bottled water every evening. Food- this was the biggest disappointment. My husband and are are not fancy eaters. That’s one reason I chose Princess. My last princess cruise I found the food constantly good and not too fancy. This time the food was mediocre to tasteless. The buffet had a large variety but the food was wasn’t good. I did love the breakfast buffett. I had French toast, bacon, fruit, oatmeal everyday. We did order room service breakfast a few days and I still went up to the buffet for more. For lunch we ate in the Club Class dining room. That was very nice for lunch. I had a hamburger from Salty Dog Grill by the pool (different from the Salty Dog Grill Cafe that you pay for) it was okay. Crown Grill for dinner was worth it. Service and food were excellent. We ate in the dining room for dinner 2x . Again the food and service was good. Horizon Buffett has a lot of variety, but the food wasn’t good. Entertainment- the magician was excellent. The big production the second to the last night was great. My husband and I didn’t find the comedian funny at all, we left early. My husband enjoyed the lounge singers each night. We did the deluxe ship tour $ 150 per person. We loved it. Very interesting and a great swag bag. Skagway zip lining at Grizzly Fallswas fantastic. Glacier Bay was disappointing . Not Princess’s fault. I visited it years ago, there were not really any impressive views. I kept telling my husband just wait. Then the announcement came on that we were leaving. I couldn’t believe that was all. Overall, we won’t be sailing Princess anytime soon. We plan on trying another company. Keep in mind, these are just our opinions. I’m sure people loved the food and entertainment. I’ll answer any questions you may have about the Ruby or having a suite . Read Less

We have been on about a dozen cruises, yet this was our first with Princess. The cruise began well enough. We embarked in Dublin and were literally in our cabin five minutes after arriving at the port. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. The room was an unobstructed Oceanview in a quiet area of the ship. The shower consistently flooded, the faucet water rarely produced anything but piping hot water, and exhaust while in port was potent throughout most cabins. The food in the main dining room was really mediocre when compared with every cruise line we've taken, and our waiter was...also for the first time...less than friendly. We ate at the buffet a few times...the food was kept lukewarm, they were always out of several dishes, and the spread is so small we couldn't believe it. Pizza also wasn't anywhere near as good as its been on any other cruise line. I had a milkshake at the ice cream vendor...it was so bad...depressing. The ports were the highlight of the cruise. There are many...only a few sea days on this cruise. Unfortunately, the ship remains in port very late, which means the shops and casino are closed often. In addition, there aren't many activities going on except on sea days. The result was more time spent without entertainment in the evenings or those days we didn't go ashore. I know this sounds bad, and I've read and dismissed my share of these...please heed my advice and book a different cruise. We ended up changing our flight and disembarking a few days early because we had such a poor time. I am writing this as we sit...and have been sitting...onboard waiting to disembark. We've sat here for over an hour already with our disembarkation group. This will be our last Princess cruise. Read Less

We sailed on this ship last year at the same time and it was amazing. So good we booked this year. Sadly it was nothing like last year. Check in etc went smoothly and boarding was great. We had an outside plus cabin on Deck 10. Room was comfortable and cleaned every day. However after 3 days the toilet stopped flushing. This was reported only to find on my return the bathroom had flooded and was under 4 inches of dirty water. This was reported again and sorted in a few hours but the toilet never worked properly after this. The bath and shower also leaked regularly. We were premium all inclusive and paid for this as an extra. This is sooo not worth it. My husband drinks cider but after the first day they ran out of Magners then after day 2 they were out of bulmers cider. He then switched to Corona which was becoming difficult to gt in certain bars and getting a diet coke is impossible. On several occasions the bars and restaurants were understaffed compared with last year sometimes waiting 20 to 30 minutes to get a drink only then to be given the wrong drink. It is also clearly apparent that some staff were being tipped (which is supposed to be included) and then focused more on those passengers. The ship apparently had 400 more people on board this year and you could definitely tell. All the pools were family friendly with up to 20 kids dive bombing into the water with no consideration for others or their own safety. Lots of children everywhere even in the bars at 1am still playing, Plenty of underage teenagers drunk in the Waters Edge every night taking the mickey out of a couple of special needs passengers, with no security to be seen anywhere. I Have nothing against children being on a cruise ship as I work with teenagers and took ours on holiday with us for years but surely there should be an element of control by parents and staff regarding some of the behaviour we witnessed. Booked the hot stone restaurant as this was truly awesome last year. Could only get a table at 18.30 but went anyway . only to discover kids still playing and splashing in the pool next to where you eat, then 2 maintenance men turned up to suck dirty water from the drains whilst people were eating. The smell was horrific. Terrible service when you are paying for this as an extra. We did not pay nor did the the other table behind us. Visited the Orion restaurant and the staff at Donalds station were amazing and worked very hard but they were run off their feet every day to the point we left without waiting for dessert. This was also attributed to a crew member arriving for dinner with his partner. At which point all surrounding diners were ignored and were left waiting for main courses and desserts as all the attention was focused toward the crew member. Appalling as the paying customer should be served first especially as we had waited 30 minutes for our mains and they had had their bread, wine starter and main served to them both whilst we were still waiting for our dinner..This is not their fault and we appreciated all they did for us. Entertainment disappointing when compared to last year, some shows were ok others just rubbish. Band in the Waters Edge but again not as good as last years band who were great and singing and entertained as well. We encountered terrible weather so completely missed one port then got stuck waiting for the tender due to sea swell and a storm. Then 70mph for about 10 hours which caused us to be ill for the day. Great getting us through it though. Excursions we did independently so cant comment. We were so excited for this cruise as last year was top notch, however this has put us off going on a Tui ship ever again. Think Jeremy Kyle at sea everyday for a week and this is what you'll get. Such a disappointment. Poor show. This ship needs to be decommissioned as it is literally falling apart. Read Less

We chose the Great Barrier reef 10 night discovery in a balcony room. The positives Housekeeping and entertainment were good with no issues. There are a few negatives The food particularly in the pantry was bland and dry. No variety unless you like curry or a roast. The breakfast options were a bit better. The waiters never came to us to offer a drink, They clean tables only. On Princess Cruises they routinely would ask if you wanted a drink. That counts for paid drinks as well. On that note, without the drinks package all that was included was water or watered down orange juice. The poocific explorer on some days there was a sewerage smell around deck 12 and even in our room. We notified reception and they sanitized our room promptly to their credit. Also they don't tell you at time of booking that the waterslides cannot be used at the reef. Travelling with a child we would have liked to have been informed. I think i will stick to princess cruises Read Less

The service was awful the ship had an AWFUL smell. Only had lemonade, tea, & water to drink. The lemonade & tea taste like water. The food options was very slim, only one restaurant was open 24 hours which is unheard of on a cruise ship. Most crew members was very rude couldn’t speak English the drinks were watered down. The crew half way clean my cabin. The tables in the restaurants where half way cleaned. This was my first and last time cruising with Liberty. The floors was nasty went to lunch and they still had food from breakfast on the floor. The ice machines were out most of the cruise. It was just an awful experience. Being this was my husband first time cruising, awful first impression. The only thing we enjoyed was the club, the deck party, and getting off the ship to tour Bahamas. Other than that it was an awful experience. Not worth my money at all. Read Less

With purchased the all inclusive drinks package. Again what we expected no hidden nightmares. Ship Dated and in a poor state of repair : toilets not up to scratch along with the public areas below spec Sun beds dirty with no comfy option. Again we are Diamond members - should be a free option for regular members. Trips : Appalling: overly expensive with little to no quality. Absolute rip off I honestly cannot point out one positive thing other than the guide they were terrible for such a fabulous itinerary. We have complained to RCI via feedback however yet again no response. The food was average to good, entertainment was plain shocking! If you like Butlins but at sea then RCI are beginning to become exactly that. We thought Carnival were bad however this is now our worst Cruise. Avoid ! Read Less

I chose this for the Bermuda cruise. Getting on the ship was easy. Luggage survived and was delivered on time. Upon first inspection everything seemed fine. We opened the mini bar and noticed that $110.00 worth of items missing and a half eaten piece of cake was in it. We contacted the cabin steward and he didn't seem to concerned. Placed a call to guest services and they sent two managers up. We asked for the mini bar to be emptied since we don't consume alcohol. They next morning the cabin steward confronted us about it stating he knew about the missing items. That was unnecessary! We purchased the premium non alcoholic Drink package. Getting more then one water that was cold was almost impossible. What smelled like raw sewage lingered around the ship during the 7 days. Keep a very close eye on charges. My husbands credit card had tips in it from the martini bar. We never went to the martini bar. All gratuities included with the package we purchased. We don't mind tipping. My husband has to use a mobility scooter and the entrance ways to a lot of the doors did not have little ramps. This caused the scooter to get stuck. We got concerned because the scooter starting making a loud clicking noise from the left rear wheel. Getting on and off the ship in Bermuda was a breeze. The food in the aft was buffet style and sub par. Select dining was okay except we had to sit 2 feet away from the couple next to us. We requested private dining. Didn't happen. On board entertainment was okay. The cruise director was very pleasant. The activities director was outstanding. They did a little update via the TV in the room everyday. Stateroom had plenty of space for our severe over packing. We booked a excursion prior to the trip. Checked the current info and charges on the TV and noticed that both of us had extra $54.00 dollars in credit. So we went to cruise services desk and asked why? They cancelled our excursion. Instead of putting the full amount back on my husband's credit card they split it down the middle. Upset about that . Proceeded back to the room and we had a voicemail stating it was cancelled. Kind of stung a bit since we already found out about it 45 minutes prior. This was our first cruise and a learning experience. It didn't help that a new building was being erected straight below our balcony in Bermuda. Do not rent the little electric orange cars next to clock tower mall. Disaster!!!!! Was not maintained or fully charged. Broke down. This happened to another couple late at night. One thing I need to add. Look at the phone in the state room before using it. Ours had something hard stuck all over the mouth piece. Nasty Read Less

We choose RC Ovation to experience the highly touted Alaska glacier cruise highlights, especially glacier calving touted as spectacular due to global warming. H/E all we got was a ROYAL disappointment. THEY CANCELLED THE DAWES GLACIER HIGHLIGHT WITHOUT SUBSTITUTING ANYTHING SIMILAR OR OFFERING ANY COMPENSATION FOR THIS HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! "SO, YOU WENT ON ALASKA CRUISE AND DIDN'T SEE A SINGLE GLACIER?!?" "YEP." OVATION OF THE SEAS ADVERTISES YOU'LL SEE THE SPECTACLER DAWES GLACIER BUT HAS NEVER ACTUALLY CRUISED WITHIN SIGHT OF DAWES OR ANY OTHER GLACIER (could dent the boat, per the Captain). DON'T LET ROYAL CARIBBEAN RUIN YOUR ALASKA CRUISE. Also, there we're NO ANNOUNCED SUNDAY CHRISTIAN SERVICES while lesbian/homo hookup opportunities were announced everyday. The last day we discovered a large Christian group aboard holding daily services which they stated RC refused to announce. Maybe next time they'll cancel a port visit (it's in your contract, the Captain reserves to right to cancel anything he wants WITHOUT COMPENSATION). The food and service were good. We liked our little stateroom - nicely organized and comfortable. But the staff tried to pass off the few small pieces of sea ice as "glaciers." To the Filipino staff any ice in the water is hugely remarkable. The comedian Nivi, the first night was great! But those who missed it just lost out as he never returned to the stage. We experienced a few elevator glitches (both up and down arrow indicators illuminated) and had to hike down five decks to make a show when all the elevators were full, but this was the expeception not the rule. I chose this cruise for the low price and interesting ports. I won’t cruise NCL again. Complimentary restaurants too crowded, loud & busy with multiple children running around. Overabundance of specialty (fee based) restaurants crowd the complimentary ones. Prices for specialty restaurants, bottled water, beverage packages, photos, room service & shore excursions were excessive. Shore excursion staff only interested in sales not helpful or informative. Shore excursion disembark exit typically empty- general exit > 1 hour wait for some ports. Guest service personnel not friendly. Beverage service areas signage prohibit filling water bottles; embarkation staff prohibits bring bottled water aboard forcing purchase of expensive NCL logo water. NCL App useless without expensive WiFi charges/person which are exorbitant! Most disappointing was continued plethora of emails boasting free WiFi, beverage, restaurant & shore excursion packages for latitudes members which I AM! However, NCL refused to honor any offers after booking. My overall opinion: NCL is so worried about getting $$$ from the passengers they forget the passengers! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. The itinerary was wonderful; we thoroughly enjoyed every port. Our service issues were numerous: a computer error kept us standing at check-in for 20 minutes, two different parties were assigned the same table in the dining room, the Customer Service line was regularly 40 minutes for days, the Customer Service staff gave us incorrect information, the final bill was illegible, our room key was inoperable. All avoidable issues. When these concerns were raised to the Cruise Director, his response was "go have a drink and forget about it". Wow. The ship is beautiful. Our cabin was exactly as we would have expected it. Most of the on-board entertainment was good. Celebrity has made changes that reduce the value of drink packages. The prices on the packages have gone up while the price of the drinks has also gone up. Now, Baileys is priced as a "Premium" drink, which means that it cannot be purchased with the Classic Drink Package any more. We no longer see Celebrity as offering a premium experience due to their recent changes. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon as it came highly recommended. Unfortunately we were ver disappointed with our experience. Day 1 - we were not let into our rooms till after 1pmm this left many passengers holding onto hand luggage meaning activity options were limited. None of the bars had menus out and the staff were only intrested in selling the drink packages rather than service. Day 2 - coco cay was a pleasant island but there was a lack of communication around what activities would be available along the beach. There was very little signage to tell you what drinks you could buy or where advertises activities were being held. Dinner at Icon grill was also a mess. The servers did their best with a very overbooked restaurant, but we were kept waiting for 20 minutes for a pre booked table. Our food then took so long to arrive that we missed a show we had booked for 2 hours after our dinner reservation. It was too noisy to even have a conversation with the person across the table so we ate in silence. Day 3 - at sea. Entertainment offered was great, however there were not many activities offered for entertainment. Rather most seemed to be focused on seeing how much they could get you to spend. This made for quite a boring day aboard. Day 4 - getting off the ship in Mexico was a mess. There was no organisation of your groups, rather we were told to go to the end of the pier at a certain time. The timeframes given to get to the designated area was ridiculous as it was set for 15 minutes after we were able to leave the ship, meaning everyone else was also trying to get off at the same time. My husband and I had also purchased a dining package and were told we can dine at any specialty restaurants. After dining at hibachi we were informed this was not included. We felt very ripped off as nowhere on the ship website is this outlined. We were also told at the end of the dining experience, removing our option to choose. Extremely disappointed as we spent a lot of money on this cruise with expectations of a relaxing vacation, when really we were sucked into a money eating scheme and have yet to see the benefit of the cost. We are elite cruisers with Princess (have sailed on many ships) and booked two 7 day Alaska cruises from July 3 - July 17, 2019 on the Island Princess. This ship is sadly lacking in public amenities and the cabin was so small you couldn't escape to it either. There is no International Cafe, which on other Princess ships serves a menu of very fresh food for 24 hours a day. After 11 pm the only snack available is from Room Service with a limited menu of food which you have to eat in bed as the stateroom has no chairs to relax in. There is no Skywalkers Lounge for a panoramic view of the scenery. There is no Vista Lounge as Princess took lovely lounge space and converted it to revenue producing cabins. There is no Adagio Lounge for relaxing. All that is left is the Wheelhouse and Explorers which are just bars meant to sell liquor and are not convivial day venues. The atrium has no appeal since it is constantly noisy with martini shaking and various music programs and no International Cafe to give you a nice cup of tea and a sandwich. The fitness room and gym are stuck inside with no windows to enjoy the view. The fitness room is so small you cannot stretch because of the number of people on the floor. Stretch classes have been cut from 30 minutes to 20 minutes and 10 minutes of that is taking foot impressions to sell orthotics. You cannot walk all the way around the Promenade Deck as it is always blocked off. There is no jogging track. There is extremely limited deck space since the Horizon Court is at the bow of the ship and most ships have it aft with nice outside tables to enjoy the view out the rear of the ship. There is no aft pool which also affords a view on most ships. The Sanctuary is aft instead of amidship which cuts off the last opportunity to access the rear of the ship. We felt like prisoners on this ship, Stuck in limited public lounges with the Alaskan views only slightly visible through exceedingly dirty windows in the Horizon Court, the dining rooms and whatever few public areas remain. A fleet wide Princess problem is the lack of fresh food on their ships. Frozen fish is unacceptable on an expensive holiday with easy access to port reprovisioning. The only saving graces on this cruise were the entertainment and the staff. The entertainers were very good and on the second cruise we had 3 excellent production shows. The staff (other than Customer Service) were excellent. They are the biggest strength of Princess. Although we often cruise 2 or 3 times a year we are not in a hurry to book another cruise with Princess and will probably give Celebrity or RCCL another try. Read Less

I am a cruise person having been on 8 cruises and 5 of those on Carnival Ships. The spa people were standing on the deck offering you a chance for a discount. Having never had a facial I pulled a card and received $50.00 off. I had a facial done which was 165.00 less $50.00 which is $115.00. I SIGNED a receipt for $115.00 however after I get home I see I was charged $135.75. When I contacted Carnival I was told that the Spa Service was contracted. When I call them I was told it was an automatic 20% tip. Issue 1: that is not on the receipt I Signed. Issue 2: read the contract you agree to Spa Service is not listed in automatic gratuity. Issue 3: Told nothing could be done after I get off I should have addressed it on ship, i started the first business day after I got off trying to get any information and it took me 3 days to have someone call me back. Therefore, DO NOT DO A SPA SERVICE! And CARNIVAL what have you done...this is next to the worst cruise I have been on...too may issues to address but this is number 1...this was a Anniversary cruise and I was shocked with Carnival now I am mad!!!! The dining area staff were good we prefer the sit down breakfast and dinner at 6. The room staff need some repair cleaning lessons but did appear in the room daily. Things needed where pointed out but not addressed i.e. the bed light had no knob to turn it on you had to stick your finger in the knob hole to turn it on. The shows were okay. The comedy was good, I love bingo but the caller preferred to talk to much and not just call the numbers. They have a new set up where you do everything on the ship after you get on i.e. the credit card on file so the first 2 days the customer support area was big lines! Read Less

We were not told that there was a broken lock preventing us from leaving the ugly canal filled with factories in Nuremberg until the second day of the cruise. The staff was nice but made it clear that they had absolutely no power to help us. They were vague and noncommittal and made it seem as if we were crazy to be upset about being bussed for several hours to see the sites. The Viking Atla stayed parked in the dismal canal for four days. Each night we were given a vague update. At these meetings the waiters offered drinks. We assumed that Viking would pick up the tab considering the information they were imparting to us, but we were told the drinks would be charged to our room. Eventually, we were taken on a 4 1/2 hour bus trip from Nuremberg to Austria to meet our new boat, the Viking Jarl. The bus we were on was not a Viking bus. The seats were tiny, cramped and uncomfortable . The bus made a stop at McDonald’s for 45 minutes because we are told drivers are not allowed to drive for 4 hours without stopping for 4 hours. Vienna was lovely and things went smoothly there. The next mishap occurred the morning we were to arrive near Budapest. We were told that over night we spent too much time waiting to go through the locks, so we would all need to stay on the boat directly to Budapest . Although this resulted in beautiful scenery, our sightseeing in Budapest was cut down to 4 hours and all of our excursions had to be cancelled. At this point even the staff agreed this was pathetic! Viking was no help on the phone while this is happening and has not reached out at all. Their customer service is horrible!’ Read Less

The itinerary is great and one would think that it would be perfect. THINK AGAIN. First, this is the first time I have ever had my passport confiscated on arrival. I have cruised all over the world and this has never happened. IF this is necessary, tell people before they board the ship because when you get of the ship at a port WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO USE AS IDENTIFICATION???? Second: the food is poor. Simply put tasteless and odorless. It is a telling indication when the MAIN DINING room menu has "upgrades" on it. In other words, you want good food pay extra. We did have dinner in Sabatini's which was NOT bad, but not great either. Second; who is the captain of the ship?? GILLIGAN and the Skipper. We disembarked from two ports late allegedly for low tide issues. Last time I checked, Tide tables are well know to ships masters. Schedule accordingly. And of course getting to the Orkney Island on a Sunday when HALF OF THE ISLAND is closed must make a lot of sense to the Princess People. But the ultimate indignity was the last stop in LeHavre. We book a Normany tour four months ago with PRINCESS only to find out three days INTO THE CRUISE that they were cancelling it on us because we were disembarking in LeHavre. THEY DID NOT KNOW THIS before I boarded the ship???? [Purportedly the reason is that we could not get off the boat in time to make the tour, I guess making sure that we COULD would have been too tough????] It caused hotel/train expenses for us in the hundreds. But truthfully I was glad to get off of this boat. I have cruised Royal Carib, Norweigian, Carnival, and Holland, and WILL NEVER set foot on a princess boat again. In FAIRNESS: Cabin was clean and the staff in the dining room was nice . And on the ten days, three days on entertainment were professional. The rest of it was like a HS talent show. Read Less
