I chose this ship because our friends had planned this trip and the convenience of the port. We had a wonderful time going to Bermuda. This was our first time on an Norwegian cruise line. The ship was very big with lots of activities to do. The captain was very careful to avoid the hurricane Dorian when we were going to Bermuda. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food of course wasn’t the best but still tasted good. I would have to thank the guest manager for treating us very special. I would have to say we want to try the Norwegian Escape again. This was also our first time doing a meet and great and the slot pull which was lots of fun. The captain was also careful with the hurricane going back home. Although we had arrived late we came back to port safe and sound. Read Less

Overall we had a wonderful time. I looked forward to the captain's greetings which always ended with "bye-bye". We purchased the steak and lobster balcony dinner, however this being our first cruise we thought you would dine on a special balcony of the ship. Not so, you are supposed to have a balcony room for this feature (they really should include that in the ad) so we asked the dining staff how we could amend this and they rose to the occasion. We had our own private waiters, James and Nino, who set us up at table on the aft balcony of the ship and dusk. They kept our champagne glasses filled, they took photos for us and even shelled our lobster. They provided us with a night of amazing memories. Alan, our cabin steward was also amazing. The first day he knew our names and always greeted us with a smile, even took a moment to ask about our excursions or our experience. He made us feel like family, not guests. Read Less

We had a bit of a hick up at first with our transfers after notification by Emerald that we were not going to be able to board our ship in Bernkastel and were afraid we had made a bad choice. Once we were on board, it couldn't have been better. Our cruise director was very personable and pleasant to deal with. I had a bit of a medical issue from a wasp sting and was afraid I would need to go to the hospital if it didn't start to improve, so had inquired with him right away about hospitals nearby. Fortunately, things improved so I didn't need to go, and he checked on me every day until things improved. Our room was better set up than any of the rooms we have had on the bigger ships, far more storage and very functional and clean looking. Our cabin steward kept it spotless. Entertainment on board was enjoyable and all the staff were amazing and attentive. All our arranged tours were wonderful. A delight to have a pool on board as well with the heat we were having. This was my honeymoon cruise. I booked through NCL and was told I would be given a $50 shore excursion credit. When I got on the ship, I was told I didn't qualify. This put a damper on my honeymoon. It isn't the money, it is the principle of the matter. I was told to expect this perk but then denied it. I even asked if they would pull the tapes to check what I was promised. Guest services said they would be in touch on the ship, I never heard anything there and when I submitted a customer care ticket to NCL, I still haven't gotten a response. It just feels like I was misled. I always thought that Norwegian was supposed to be a higher-class company, but Carnival would have resolved it on the spot. I paid more because I wanted a beautiful honeymoon, but I didn't get what I envisioned. As far as the cruise itself, I read another person's review and I wanted to know what ship they were on...then I read they had Bulgari products and chocolate-dipped strawberries. I realized it had to be the Haven. So, unless you are willing to shell out a large sum of money, you will be treated differently. Here are my observations: Cons: 1. The cabin noise is awful. When we first got in our cabin, I thought we were under the swimming pool, then I figured out it was the toilets flushing that was making the noise. 2. The dining rooms are packed, even with reservations, we had to wait. They try to tempt you to get all your meals in the Garden area, but it is packed too and the food is subpar. Meat always overcooked and vegetables mushy. 3. Activities, when they are being held are always packed. Plan early or you won't get into anything. Luckily, I booked the shows before we got on board or we'd have missed out. We never were able to try out the racetrack. 4. As mentioned earlier, if you are in the Haven, you have additional perks. But I really expected them to do something for our honeymoon. We were given a card to take to the dining room, but we received nothing special. I was a little shocked. 5. The people on the ship really act like they don't want to be there. They look stressed as if they did something wrong, they were going to be fired. Made me feel like I was supporting a slave environment. 6. Photos - there just weren't a lot of opportunities for photos. 7. If you want premium food, you have to pay for it. At least Carnival puts lobster tail on the regular menu once during the cruise! 8. The ship's size is awful. The problem is just there are too many people on board and not enough resources put in place to deal with them. The Atrium was always packed. They pulled out aluminum chairs for people to sit on. Docking was awful. Packed elevators and long lines. When we got to BC there was a line that wrapped around the ship. We were late getting there and people who had excursions booked were anxious to get off. I still can't believe they put us in port at 8:00 at night for a three-hour docking. Just ridiculous. So, was it all bad, no, there were some good parts. So let's look at the Pros: 1. The ship itself is beautiful and elegantly done. The Observation Lounge is a treasure and should be enjoyed. 2. The views from the Garden Eatery tables are better than the ones in the dining room. 3. The shows were very good. Jersey Boys was great and so was Six. 4. You don't have the constant pressure to drink on the ship. No one will approach you trying to push the alcohol. 5. The ports were beautiful, (except for BC, we didn't do anything there because of the hour we got there.) Excursions were great. I highly suggest the gardens at Juneau and the train ride through the mountains at Skagway. It's long but has some beautiful sights. Make time to visit Seattle too. Pike's Place is awesome. Lots of great seafood and flowers aplenty! Read Less

It was arranged by a local bus tour company and it was a dream of mine. My husband and I decided that life is too short to sit around waiting for the lottery. The ship was awesome and our cabin was comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The dining was an experience in different tastes and an awesome and overwhelming journey. It was prepared well and it allowed us to experience different foods i.e. ate escargots for the first time and they were delicious. Anyone who said they were bored just were not taking advantage of what was available from bingo, bible study, casino, crafts, exercise, comedy acts and Broadway acts, etc. We also went on shore excursions in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway and they were all fun in their own way, Saw a good deal of country, spoke with many people and it was truly an awesome experience. The steward, Reinir was just a lovely individual who worked hard but was very genuine in his dealings with us. No phoniness about him. He was very good at giving us advice and directions about things on the ship and what was available. In the dining room we had Rhoderick and he guided us in an adventure in dining. Ate a variety of meals and they were second to no one. The chefs knew their way around a kitchen and the blends of flavours they used were out of this world. We ended our cruise in Seattle but prior to that we were in Victoria BC Canada. We arrived at 7 PM PST and it was beginning to darken soon after we embarked on a shuttle bus and we walked to Chinatown. If we had arrived at 4 PM the excursions others had taken would have been enjoyed a bit longer because the main complaint from others was they couldn't see anything because of the lack of light. ALL IN ALL for hubby and I it was a tremendous experience. The weather at times was abysmal but it's September in Alaska,,,rain and fog were a chance we took and we did not get to the TRACY fjord due to the dense thick fog and that was disappointing but safety was a factor and I am glad the Captain went on the side of safety. Pros = 1) Service at the dinner - Waiter always friendly 2) Service and cleanliness on our Room 3) Pre paid internet was 4gb for 4 devices and it was cheap comparing with other cruises that I´ve made 4) Pre paid digital pictures was very cheap. I got in the end a pen drive with 120 pictures taken during the cruise and it costed 90 euros. During the cruise, they were charging 30 euros for EACH picture 5) Pizza was very good Cons = 1) Overall the bar staff was not trained at all. First night at the Cruise, I ordered a bottle of Champagne, the lady came after 10 minutes with the Bottle saying that it was the first time that she opened a Champagne bottle and tried to close it with the Cork again. 2) The food at the buffet was terrible and always crowded. It was always stressfull getting food, find a table 3) The cruise only offers free Water (when other lines offer Iced Tea, etc). The places to get drinks were dirty and some of them had only Coffe and not hot milk 4) The portion size of the dinner was terrible ... everyone at our table asked always 2-3 main courses because it was impossible to have food enough with only 1 main dish. 5) The shows during the evening at the theater were very poor. Comparing with other cruises that I´ve been, it was by far the worse. I even slept because if was boring. 6) The overall entertainment during the cruise was very bad... other cruises that I´ve been, have a Cruise Director that cheers up the entire ship with lot of enterntainment and parties. At the Preziosa, and I dont even know if we have similar role during the ship. 7) Basic stuff like NUTELLA... it was not offered during the breakfast for my Daugther, but it was available if asked.. so every time i needed to go to the bar and ask for Nutella and the waiter passed me a few nutella hidden like he was giving me drugs. 8) The overall service was so bad that I went to the guest services and asked to remove the service charge. I then paid good service at the dinner and room directly to the waiters. 9) I´ve been in many different Cruise companies before and this was the first that THEY DONT OFFER FREE ICE CREAM. All other have free 24h ice cream. They charge at Preziosa for everything. Worst cruise experience I ever had, and i will never get on a MSC ship again. Read Less

The cruise itself was great due to the destinations, but the service of the onboard staff and the hidden fees ($15/person per day) were enough to turn us away from booking again. To think those fees are charged on the basis of service, and to have experienced better service at McDonald’s, is enough to book elsewhere. Ship itself is fabulous, the staff just needs a crash course in basic customer service skills. Food was good when it was cooked correctly (had to send meals back). Staff constantly gave misinformation to guests on our cruise, including closing time of restraints and disembarkation times. Most staff appeared inconvenienced to be on shift. Go karts were fun but those also cost $15/person. Entertainment was more annoying than entertaining, the comedian shows were few and far between. Lack of things to do while at sea. Casino was good but closed constantly. Bar taxes kept appearing (even when on the drink package) depending on what waters we were over. Fees everywhere! Read Less

Awful experience! I had my body covered in bedbug bites two days after getting on the boat! It ruined my holidays! They downgraded us to a different room which by the way they said it had also been cleaned off bedbugs! They washed my clothes and ruined quite a few of them! They said they had to spray our shoes and sent them all back in our suitcases all together in a ball without any care! I couldn’t sleep for 3 nights as my body was extremely itchy. I couldn’t take any photos as my body was covered in bites. I had to keep wearing the same clothes as I couldn’t wear clothes that showed my shoulders because of all the bites. It was an absolute disaster! I reported it to NCL and have heard nothing back yet. I would not recommend this ship to anyone unless I was shown a bedbug free certification from Pest Control. We were the cruise that no one was really sure we would be able to even take because of Hurricane Dorian! Royal Caribbean was AMAZING at communicating with us and letting us know the advantages of hanging in there with them and assured our safety so we decided to go ahead keep our reservation and take the cruise. This ship is the nicest ship we have ever had the pleasure of taking, We have taken many cruises on many different lines. We are now have Platinum Status on RC so we are trying to continue growing our reward level on this RCI ships and family. We absolutely LOVED every single part of this ship! The Rooms were the largest and spacious and beautiful. The ship is immaculate, the food was excellent, and the service was awesome! I cannot tell you how pleased I was with my experience! Royal Caribbean knocked it out of the park with this Ship and this Cruise. There really were so many differences to this cruise and this ship than so many others. It was just a way different class of ship than so many others! Read Less

It was the one thing I hated every day I like to relax. The staff are very friendly and our cabin girl HANNAH we stayed in cabin 6600 from 31/08/19 she was brilliant nothing was any trouble The one other staff member that really stood out too us was MOKA the lounge bar mAn in the live bar by night and pool bar by day I have the say he was brilliant Read Less

We chose Carnival because it was budget friendly! It was my husband, myself and our 2 year old and 6 other family members. Went onto the ship with such hesitation as everyone seemed to have terrible things to say about Carnival and I can tell you none of them were true. Our steward Yoga was incredibly kind and thorough. The entertainment staff Adele and Lee made us feel like family and always at home and we were hugging them when we left the ship, they were fun, upbeat, kind and caring! The entertainment was phenomenal. The Cruise Director Mat was incredible, he has the best attitude and is so good at what he does as is everyone else. Cristian and Lauren who both do bar waiting we incredible they are such nice people and made us feel at home. But Tommy the head waiter in the Renoir Dining Room was absolutely incredible! When I say personable and kind I genuinely mean he made us feel so welcomed and we requested him every single night. We had a chaotic family of 9 and he and his team we wonderful. My daughter was looking for him every single day as we walked the ship and the last night she gave him a hug and we all took pictures. He knew every single one of us by name and I hope we get to see him and the others again next cruise, that goes for all the staff. Everyone from housekeeping to fun squad was great. By the end of the cruise we felt like a family on the ship! The only con is the added extras you pay for and they can get pricey but I would do it all over again. My entire family and I have already said this was our best family Vacation we have ever had. The Gaudette Family Read Less

Where do I begin? My wife and I just returned from a six night sailing on Adventure of the Seas. This was her 12th cruise and my 10th. We've sailed NCL, RCI, Carnival and Celebrity. Of all the ships we've been on, Adventure is my favorite without a doubt. We booked this trip when we were on Enchantment last September. I was excited about trying a Vision class ship because it has all the amenities of the Freedom class ships but is slightly smaller. Adventure, as far as I'm concerned, is nearly perfect. It's beautiful and in great condition inside and out. We stayed at the Newark airport Doubletree which was ideal. Uber to the port cost us a total of $16.00 and it simply could not have been easier. We walked out of the Uber, through the terminal and were on the ship within 10 minutes. I thought Port Canaveral was easy but Bayonne is even more so. I figured out a few cruises ago that wearing swim trunks onto the ship means I can jump on the slides and the Flow Rider while everyone else is in the Windjammer. I got to spend nearly an hour by myself flow riding in the back of the ship before lunch! (I'm 50, BTW!) We had My Time Dining with a reservation each night at 5:15. Our MDR servers were Danny and Rudolfo - both terrific - and we enjoyed them more and more as the week went on. Food was very good. RCI's food isn't our favorite but it's very tasty and of course, I left more than full every night! Nicole at the check-in stand was delightful and started the dinner experience off on the right note every night. There was only one formal night on the cruise and although we brought clothes for it, we didn't feel like changing so we opted for dinner that night in the Windjammer. Speaking of the Windjammer, I have to say it was spacious and very well organized. I was a bit surprised that it closed relatively early each night but pizza and other tasty things were available 24/7 on the Promenade (another feature of the ship we loved). Overall, the Windjammer exceeded my expectations and the staff there was very accommodating. They have packed the space tight with tables and it was often crowded. Still, it was well organized. We happened to go upstairs one night only to stumble upon the chocolate fountain and dessert bar. They never advertised it but I guess we just got lucky. I probably consumed 5000 extra calories that night! I did use the fitness center each day and was pleased that it opened on time daily. Unlike other ships, it was never packed and the machines were in good condition. Our stateroom was 9307 and Kevin, our attendant, did an excellent job taking care of us. We seldom ran into him but he knew our names when we did. We have grown accustomed to interior cabins because the cost savings allow us to cruise more often. The room was cool and dark when we needed it to be. There isn't a lot of space but it had everything we needed. The bathroom was tiny but also provided us with everything we needed. Overall, we were very pleased with the room and our towel animals! Entertainment was very good. The singers were better than most and the variety of shows was strong. There were two comedians on the ship - one early and one late in the cruise. We attended the family friendly shows but not the adult versions because for us, that gets old quickly. The one show I did not care for was Impact. They are three dancers/singers who do a high energy show. The audience seemed to love them but that kind of entertainment just isn't my thing. The Adventure of the Seas band was excellent. Our ports of call were St. John, Bar Harbor and Halifax. In St. John we did the pink hop on hop off bus which was great. It was just enough and the drivers/narrators were excellent. Honestly, we weren't taken with the city but the cooler temperatures and length of our 90 minute tour were ideal. Bar Harbor is fantastic - but crowded. It was the only one of the three ports where we were with another ship - the Queen Mary 2. It made for a lot of people in a small space. We took an Olley's Trolley tour to the top of Mount Cadillac and the views were spectacular. The driver/narrator was excellent there as well. Some people raved about the tender boats and others complained because they were too big and it took a long time to board. For us, it wasn't an issue. I don't really mind tendering. It's an adventure in itself. We did schedule a RCI excursion to Peggy's Cove in Halifax. It was a 3.5 hour tour - most of which was spent on the bus. Our tour guide was excellent but with only 55 minutes to spend exploring Peggy's Cove (charming but a place I don't need to visit again) it was a long morning. The weather was nearly perfect with 65 degree temps throughout the entire voyage. The two things that surprised me about Adventure were no outdoor seating in the Windjammer and a greater degree of smoking on the pool deck in addition to the casino. However, overall, Adventure, with it's interior and exterior beauty, spectacular venues and outstanding staff made for one of our best cruises yet. Unlike many other ships on which we've sailed, the CD, Drew, was low key and excellent. So often CD's tend to be spotlight hungry and over the top. Drew was neither. Disembarkation was easier than embarkation! We prefer self assist and left our stateroom (sadly) at 7:16 a.m. We were off the ship in five minutes and at the Newark airport before 8:00 a.m.! Honestly, the ease and simplicity of the on and off process at Bayonne makes me want to find other sailings from the port. And it didn't hurt that we sailed passed the Statue of Liberty and under the Verrazzano bridge! All in all, I highly recommend Adventure of the Seas. I would sail her again tomorrow and will most certainly look for other cruises on Vision class ships. Read Less

We chose this Cruise because we saw the ship coming off of our 12th Anniversary to Jamaica and we decided then and there, we wanted to do this ship for our 13th Anniversary. The price we paid for our Cruise was great. The food on the ship was good but it can be better. When we bought our Cruise last year, the tourist who helped us said it was a different experience and it was. Just like she said, MSC caters to the Europeans! It's like nobody else matters but our money spends the same. The staff, mainly the ones dressed in white are stuck up with nasty attitudes! Never saw the Captain not one day! The only entertainment we enjoyed was the Michael Jackson show. That was the worse KARAOKE I've ever seen on a Cruise and it was just one night! MSC Seaside never starts any shows, bands, games, etc. on time. It's like they wait til the last minute to show up and set up. The music groups are amazing. Seaside has some Awesome singers but they only cater to certain people with their music and that's not right! When you advertise R&B SOUL, then that's what you need to be performing is R&B SOUL!! When you advertise Old School Jams, then perform Old School Jams! Their entertainment can use a lot of adjustment. Read Less

We had an amazing vacation. Meet some very neat people. Looking forward to keeping in touch with them. The ship was clean and beautiful. Food in the Horizon Court was always really good. The best meal we had was at Curtis Stone Share! Go there and eat, you will not be disappointed. The Casino was fun we won some and lost some but overall it was fun. The artwork was pretty, not my style but nice to look at. We got the coffee card, but could have done without it. The coffee in the Horizon was just as good and free :). Soft serve ice cream was perfect, my hubby's favorite. :) We had great weather, only rained in Juneau. We did a little shopping in Juneau. We did the train ride in Skagway, that was beautiful. I would go again! Glacier Bay was beautiful, so peaceful and relaxing, we did see a portion of the glacier break but did not get pictures. The Lumber Jack Show in Ketchikan was really cute and fun, great for the family! We did the Pedi-Cab ride in Victoria, BC, I recommend seeing the city this way. The stop in Victoria is short and Pedi-Cab makes it to where you see the whole city in 2 1/2 hours. So you still have time to shop if you want. Overall the best vacation we have taken in years. We are looking forward to our next cruise, I really want to got to New England & Canada cruise. Read Less

Our cruise experience was doomed from the start. About a week before our cruise hurricane Dorian started forming. As our sale date approached we kept a close eye on the projected path and Carnival‘s website. As it became clear that hurricane Dorian was going to affect the Bahamas we regularly checked in to make sure that our sailing was still happening and we were going to be going to our ports. Our first day on board was relatively OK. We had clear skies and the lunch buffet was actually really good. That’s the only positive statement I have for the entire cruise. Dinner time rolls around and the dining room was horrible. The bread was under baked . Both my steak and their signature dessert (melting cake)was over cooked. The first night the boat was extremely rough. I had hoped that that would be the only rough seas we would experience. Day two was a day at sea. About halfway through the day the captain comes on and informs us that we were not going to make it to princess Cay and that the port will be substituted with a trip to Key West for a half a day. Key West was OK but definitely not the Bahamas. I had hoped to find a beach only to find out that Key West does not offer beaches. While in Key West my sister calls me and informs me that the Carnival corporate website has updated stating that our trip to Nassau for the next day has now been canceled. We went to the service desk and asked what port we would be going to instead of Nassau. Mind you Nassau was the whole reason we booked this cruise. Absolutely love going to Aquaventure at Atlantis. So we were very disappointed to find out that we were not gonna make it to Atlantis. The service desk denied that the port had been canceled and told us that they couldn’t speak to what their corporate website said. They lied to us. As the ship pulled away from Key West the captain came on and informed us that our trip to Nassau had been canceled and no other ports were available so we were going to be getting a third day at sea. I booked a cruise to the Bahamas ! Not a cruise to float at sea for four days and get a half day in Key West. On top of being stuck on that boat our captain insisted on finding every possible patch of rough seas possible. I couldn’t sleep at night because the boat was rocking so bad. Pool lost half of its water from spilling over hitting waves. And the Lido deck buffet we sat there and watch plates fly across the floor. On our final day at sea the captain informed us that there was a chance we would not be able to return to Jaxport on Thursday. The plan initially was to spend an extra day at sea until the port reopened. Dinner time on our last night at sea the captain comes on to inform us that we will be docking in Port Canaveral and receiving shuttle bus rides back to Jacksonville. It’s really sad when we arrived at port Canaveral customs and border protection waived us on through saying we didn’t take a cruise to anywhere so we did not have to declare anything. Our cruise director found it funny to joke about how we were on a cruise to somewhere but he didn’t know where. Carnival really let us down. They should have canceled our sailing knowing that they were not going to be enough ports available to substitute adequately. But they wanted their money. To add insult to injury the whole reason they docked us in Port Canaveral was so that they wouldn’t have to delay their next sailing. I called the customer service line after we got home and they refused offer us any compensation. I always knew in the contract that they could change ports but I never expected them to treat us so poorly. So our beautiful beach vacation to the Bahamas turned into a week of rough seas, never seeing a beach, and never putting on our bathing suits. We took a cruise nowhere and didn’t even make it back to our original destination. At this point I will never cruise with Carnival again. Read Less

Instead of going to the Bahamas we went to Cozumel and Key West. We were just happy to be on vacation so the change of itinerary didn't affect our excitement about the trip. The cruise was fabulous, the ship was clean and beautiful. There was plenty to do on the ship. The pool was not as hard to enjoy as another small ship we've been on, there was always a chair and room in the pool. We enjoyed the nightly shows as well as some of the game shows in the bliss lounge. We played Deal or No Deal in the Stardust theater daily....and WON! We also won a small chunk in the beautiful casino. The ports, although changed, were still great. We enjoyed the food and the drinks in all of the restaurants. I was probably most amazed by the fact that the staff was super quick and efficient during embarkation and disembarkation both at the beginning and the end of the cruise as well as at the ports. There was little or no wait to embark/disembark. We can't wait to go again. Read Less

We wanted to cruise the Hawaiian Islands and heard Norwegian did a great job. The staff and the food in the Skyline dining room was great. Our cabin steward, Andrew was very friendly and accommodating. We also found the rest of the staff on the ship to be very upbeat and friendly. The entertainment was one of the best compared to other cruises we have taken. The only disappointments were the cabin size and the food in the Aloha Café which was fair and often only lukewarm. The service at the pool was poor due to understaffing. We experienced this almost every time we went to the pool. The staff in guest services was excellent in answering questions and helping us with reservations. For the most part the excursions were very good, except too much time was spent at the Aquarium on the "Best of Maui" excursion. We would have liked to spend more time sightseeing. Overall, the cruise was very good! Read Less

We wanted to go to Bermuda and this was a different ship for us, so we went. Overall, we had fun and Bermuda is awesome. Our stateroom was a forward balcony and was nice, clean and the room steward was very friendly and good. However, the service in the dining rooms was horrible every night except once. The food was sometimes good sometimes bad. We would have to ask 3 times for a drink and 40 minutes later it would finally come. (Every night). I have never received such poor service in the dining room or mediocre food like this on any other cruise line. The music was So loud everywhere on the ship. In the atrium you couldn’t go to customer service and ask a question and hear the response because the music or whatever was on, was as loud as it could be. In the Orchid restaurant and Sheehan restaurant, you could hear the bands playing from nearby and it was so loud you couldn’t enjoy your meal at either place (so we never ate there) That and the fact that service was so poor in dining room with only so-so food anyway, meant that our dining experience wasn’t that good. We have definitely had better food and service on other cruise lines. The excursion to Clearwater beach was very nice (but expensive for what you got). Horseshoe Bay beach is great. Maybe we just had bad luck with the service in the dining room and the mediocre food. Maybe someone will realize that the amplifiers don’t need to be on FULL blast ALL the time... then maybe we will fell like cruising on the Gem again. Read Less

Our August/September Golden Anniversary Cruise was on P & O’s Ventura, a ship on which we have travelled before, in fact it was on our first cruise just 2 years ago. We chose the itinerary primarily because the date of our anniversary was mid-cruise and the week-long itinerary included the island where we had our honeymoon back in September 1969, Guernsey, where we could relive all the fond memories of our time there. We had very high hopes since we love Ventura and I had pre-booked a meal in the Epicurean , the ship’s specialist fine-dining restaurant, on the night of our anniversary. That meal was spectacular and the staff were amazing. Apart from being delicious, the food was so imaginative – how about fried custard on your dessert? It was a really lovely surprise, believe me. So, Ventura scores very highly in terms of food and service including the excellent support my wife has for her special dietary needs, and our super cabin steward, Morris. Unfortunately, it was not the cruise we had hoped for in respect of the shore experiences. The first disappointment was to be told, in advance, that we would not be berthing in Amsterdam but at the distant port of Ijmuiden and that a bus shuttle service would be provided. At the time I received the notification I guess I wasn’t too concerned because I hadn’t visited Amsterdam before and didn’t know what impact those arrangements would have on our time there. We were given the usual ‘operational reasons’ excuse. Because details were not divulged, everyone, and I mean everyone, I spoke with believed it was down to the tax imposed on cruise ship passengers. I wonder how much money was spent on the shuttle services and how passenger experiences were thereby enhanced. Come on P & O! Amsterdam is a fascinating city for loads of reasons. It is just the sort of destination that really benefits cruise visitors when they are able to pop on and off of their ship at will. Sadly, a bus shuttle that took between 40 minutes and over an hour in each direction killed that opportunity. Equally, long delays waiting, in blazing sunshine (well at least we had that!), for return shuttles that got stuck in heavy traffic was not the most pleasant experience other than for sun worshippers! This problem must have been known of in advance and precautions taken to alleviate the misery. This was particularly an issue on our first day when we had booked an evening canal excursion that meant we had to ‘shuttle’ back to the ship in order to pick up the excursion bus to travel back in again, thus cutting our time in Amsterdam on our own severely. The actual excursion was great and you can imagine that we really dug into the cheese and wine provided, especially the wine. However, the real disappointment came when we arrived at Guernsey. I queued early to get a reasonable tender time and was given two spaces on the first tender departure. We were thrilled to have such a long time ashore to relive all those wonderful memories. The thrill was quickly stifled when the captain announced that the winds were too severe to operate the tenders although he would ‘hang around’ for half an hour because the forecast was that the winds would reduce. No such luck because, after 30 minutes had elapsed, we were told that it was too dangerous to operate the tenders. We were both so upset, my wife in particular. I am well aware that safety of passengers is paramount and I cannot take issue with P & O over the decision. What I find hard to take is that, having spoken to so many passengers both on and off the ship at the time and since returning home who have suffered the same experience, I don’t understand why either the destination is not removed from itineraries if it is so dangerous or that the largest possible ‘health warning’ of the likelihood of ‘failure’ is prominently published in all the appropriate literature, including glossy brochures. A Golden Wedding comes only once and is so special. Our celebration left a real curate’s egg of memories from the joy of Epicurean to the real sadness of missing out on re-visiting our honeymoon island. Read Less

This was our first Viking cruise. The experience was as wonderful as our river cruise. Service, food and itinerary outstanding. Guides were exceptional and we felt like we had real insider views from the locals of each country. The cruise offered a wide range of excursions and we enjoyed traveling by foot, bus, boats and cable cars. The food was the best we ever had on a cruise. Dining was open and it was easy to get a table whatever time we choose to dine. No long lines or hassle with reservations. The service and staff was outstanding. Rooms always clean, room service 24x7 in addition to all the diverse places to eat. Seafood buffet nightly was amazing and food in the dining room diverse and tasty. We were wowed by the entertainment, the house band and singing crew were wonderful. Everyone was up close and personal, it was a wonderful experience. Read Less

We chose this cruise as a belated honeymoon and it was my husbands birthday on the 30th. Our cabin was just so noisy, vibrations, clanging and banging and something hydraulic kept going off at various times. I felt the ship was tired and it reminded me more of a posh ferry, no charm about it. There are not enough seats in the bars and every night, is pretty much the same as the night before regarding entertainment. I was hoping there might be some dance lessons but it is too small although we were offered a talk on liver drainage. Food was ok although if you are in the lido it was only warm and the meals in the Meridian were bland and boring. Nothing spicy because they want you to pay extra and eat in the Asian restaurant. We did eat at the hot stone and the steak was great, starters and deserts we're not so good. Coffee port is great which is just as well as free coffee is awful. The best meal was the afternoon tea, loved it! The excursions are well organised, but you do not get enough free time, even to stop for a drink when walking in the hot weather. I have to say all the staff are excellent, polite and friendly and ship was kept spotless and ran like clockwork. We weren't sorry to get off and we're pleased we did cruise and stay in Dubrovnik instead of 14 nights cruise. I have rated cabin average because of noise. It was quite spacious with plenty of storage in bathroom. Read Less

A group of 18 friends gathered for an Alaska interior trip followed by the 7 day southbound cruise. The interior part of the trip was an incredible opportunity to see animals up close in a carefully managed national park. As this is a cruise review, i will focus on the ship portion but highly recommend the pre-cruise adventure. Room: We were in veranda room 908, adjoining with 906. The room was incredible - appointed with luxury linens, toiletries, decor etc. as you might expect The size of the room was great considering 3 ladies were sharing the room. The bedding was firm (i prefer plush) and slightly more narrow than a normal twin. The sofa turned into a twin bed and was made each night by the butler. The walk in closet provided plenty of room for our overpacking and offered 6 drawers and a safe. The long counter in the living area had 3 more drawers so everyone had a place to store things, along with a nightstand with drawer and cubby. The bathroom featured a handheld shower as well as rainfall showerhead. We always had hot water and water pressure. The marble bathroom also included a full sized tub, which we did not use. There were shelves in the bathroom above and below the sink. Our butler kept our Bulgari products well supplied. As shower gel was provided, they also had the "scrubby puffs" for best lather. We were able to put 2 large pieces of luggage under each "twin bed" although luggage racks were also kept under the beds. Our room was quiet and we got our exercise since the activities were usually on the opposite end of the ship. When docking, we did feel and hear the engines but it was not something that bothered us. The butler kept us stocked with champagne and kept the refrigerator full. He kept us supplied with water and even distilled water. The clock in the room was marked as having wireless charging but i did not find that to work with the iphone. I brought a small extension cord with multiple outlets for charging our appliances, apple watches, etc. and would recommend the same if you like to charge everything at once Dining: While we did have grilled lobster and caviar, 3 times, in Atlantide, we really did not enjoy the food nor its timing. Dinner hours began at 7 pm. Breakfast was unavailable after 10 am and Lunch stopped at 2 pm or sooner. Since i have cruised major lines over the years, i noted the missing "all day buffet" from other ships. We had to plan around the hours that the food would be available. This was not a deal breaker but is worth noting if you are not a planner. Food taste was nothing noteworthy as i would have expected but i am a foodie. We enjoyed La Terrazza twice for dinner (and many times for buffet breakfast and buffet lunch which was great) , Indochine was one interesting but not to the taste of our large group. Our waiter suggested serving multiple items family style (and we ordered extra short ribs which were incredible) and this was a great way to try the unusual menu. the Arts Cafe served great capuccino and lattes with little snacks all day. Spanicapolo (sp) had delicious pizza and the Grill served hot lava rocks for you to cook your own steak. We tried that one night in the rain and were surprised by how nice it was but the side items were lacking and got cold while you cooked your steak. Service: The ship has mastered service. The ratio of staff to guest was amazing. My wine glass was never empty, cocktails were always offered and service was prompt. We really enjoyed being taken care up so well. Everyone seems to enjoy the job. Spa: i had two services reserved before boarding and learned about a 3 service package on board. I added acupuncture to my massage and facial and got 3 services for $495. The individual facial and massage were $229 each and included the gratuity although i left extra. They tried to sell me something in every service but i was able to resist. This is my least favorite part of the spa experience. There are no showers that i saw but lockers are provided in a small changing room. We had amazing weather until Sitka and actually did not do our excursion and it was too late to cancel. Lots of end of summer bargains in the shops in ports, especially Ketchikan. The group really enjoyed the excursions with lots of adventures in helicopters, with dog mushers and glacier hikes. There was always plenty to do in port. Onboard, we enjoyed the last show - a Queen tribute and played (free) bingo and trivia in Dolce Vita every day at 4pm. We had great service while playing. Overall: this was my 1st luxury cruise of 15 cruises. I would probably not do it again but will look at upgrading to a suite on the major lines for a similar price. The ship was small and never seemed crowded despite the large group we had. I loved the size of this ship and it is one reason to return to Silversea. I was spoiled by the service but the food just did not wow me. I am happy to answer any questions. Read Less

We wanted a cruise experience and the Bahamas. We sadly were disappointed with Hurricane Dorian. We had travel insurance but our travel agent suggested we go cause NCL made no changes to the itinerary yet the night before. We decided to go and not cancel cause we expected at worst we would reroute to 3 other ports. One day was not enough notice to cancel everything we had set up to go even with Hurricane issues we expected we still have fun. Well 1 day in Mexico in Cozumel and a half day was nowhere near what we had in mind nor worth the cost we payed for Bahamas. Esp since My husband had been once with his parents as a teen. . The food was awful no selection for a picky eater. The specialty restaurants were lacking majorly. The buffets were edible if drunk. Same stuff daily almost, sadly not much choice. Not usually a drinker but between all the disappointments. Thankfully it was inclusive drinks....... The pool being closed 50% of time, hot tub packed and the streaming package I paid for not working after day one. I lost business not being able to use my phone and check in on work i lost a few big investors, the 10$ line was a joke. The excursion booking by phone app accidental, we couldn't get refunded. Guest services were no help anytime we went there. They didn't cancel our trip or give any info prior to boarding that we go to Cozumel... My husband had been there and I had no wish to go there, but we had boarded the boat and didn't get any info to were we reroute until another cruiser told us on the ship not even our itinerary told us till the next day. Very disappointed to say the least the have no offered any discount on a trip to the Bahamas or a partial refund! I know that Mexico is way cheaper to visit then the Bahamas and we didn't port 3 different places Nor did i even get to see the beach once. We did one excursion dolphin encounter, it was the only thing decent and we didn't receive our photos by email as we should've. They had switched our group with another's they couldn't find our photos, when tried to look and purchase them. They finally found them under a different groups number! We bought them and it was a week later I had to contact them to send them again. Overall we had a trip we will never forget and we hope to make it to the Bahamas when the poor island rebuilds. Not sure I will be going NCL We almost booked Disney even though, we don't have kids. They had 11 pools and 3 adult areas and pools. We may have at least got some swimming pool time and hot tub time while stuck on the boat for 6 days when supposed be 4 days. The nightmare getting home was another story very disappointed about the lack of updating and knowledge they never provided us during the chaos. The sun would've been fine had we ported 3 days where we planned. we could've dealt with the other issues, we had in general but honestly for our first cruise nothing went right! Room tenant was awesome remembered our names was very diligent and professional. The gift shop was pathetic and the Spa was overpriced for the deep tissue couples massage we received. I wasn't even sore afterwards as should be. Not impressed at all. We are smokers it was windy and raining off and on they only moved smoking down a level one time to keep the wind and rain less awful. We had a balcony and this was honestly the best part of the boat. However we were under the pool area, it was very loud as they picked the chairs up and sprayed the upper deck barley got any sleep! This was our second time on the Majesty of the Seas , so we knew what to expect. What we did not expect was 2 FREE days added to the back end of our cruise, Because of hurricane Dorian 2 extra days were added to the back end of our five day cruise, I have to say the the captain was on the P A system sometimes twice a day letting us know that because of the hurricane RCCL would stay out 2 days longer than planned and there would be NO added cost to passengers and Drink packages and internet packages would also be extended at NO extra charge. The only thing I wondered was the room attendants and waitstaff would be shafted on 2 days of gratuities because of our FREE days?? The ship is small and compact with easy access to everything, There are literally No steps so mobility issues are no problem, Food was good and drinks were a bit expensive if you don't have the drink package ($17 for a Mojito at the pool bar) Shows and entertainment were typical for a cruise ship and even the extra days there were production shows and performers. Overall Nice cruise , the only downside was downtime in the cabin the TV was TERRIBLE There were almost NO movies or TV shows , Everything was taped loops and cartoons or sports that most people don't follow. Royal you really need to improve your stateroom entertainment.. Read Less
