Many river cruises either provide or offer passengers a half-day trip on the Ardeche train, which runs from March to November. The steam train has two itineraries, which visit the Doux Gorge.

The absolute highlight is La Jardin d'Eden located just outside the old city. A couple have transformed this delightful medieval garden that was once tended by Franciscan monks and there are a multitude of pools, ponds and little hideaways. The garden is surrounded by 16th-century ramparts and its terraces run right up to the top of the hill for spectacular views over the town below, of the Rhone River and across to Tain-l'Hermitage.
