The mudbaths are created from the volcanic heated mud that bubbles up through geysers making these mud baths accessible, there are heated pools and people can rub white mud or dark mud on themselves. The dark mud kind of stains so use only if you are wearing dark clothing. It really smells here too - but after an hour and your skin will be tingling and the smell wont seem so bad! :-D It gets quite busy, not really my thing but the family insisted. Read Less

Booked an independent tour with a company called Spencer Ambrose Tours that offered a tour of the island with stops at the mud baths, waterfall and beach all by speedboat including lunch for $85 per person A great day out put a few points to note 1. If visiting the mud baths then leave all your jewellery on the ship and don’t dress in your best beachwear as the sulphur can react with both 2. Getting on and off the speedboat can be very challenging, so if you have limited mobility check with the operator first 3. Take plenty of sun cream 4. If you like snorkelling then take gear with you, although you can hire mask and snorkel for around $7 per person 5. Beach foot wear is highly recommended as the snorkelling area is rocky in places as is walking to and from the mud baths/waterfall Read Less

Our tour guide was very friendly and filled with information about the island. When we arrived at the baths she took us to the area of the baths and said she would remain with our belongings that were left on a rock. After entering the first stage of the experience there was no more mud available. There was sme confusion of who was to supply it. After waiting 10 minutes for the mud to arrive, we finished our experience. There were three showers of which only one was working,so again a long wait. There were three changing rooms, so once again a wait. We arrived at the bus 15 minutes after our meeting time and the guide was not with our belongings. The experience would have been great if we went on our own and not on a tour. The tour description gave the impression we were going to the drive in volcano but the guide said that was another tour. So much more than just the mud bath. Speedboat to Soufrieres avoids stomach-churning mountain driving from the port. Set your expectations properly and you'll have a great time. Yes it's touristy; yes it's a production line, but it's good fun. Followed by a dip at a waterfall, and then beach time. Again, set expectations. The public part of the beach is tiny, but the company did a good job of trying to make sure we all got one of the public loungers. Probably our best day and tour. Also loved St Lucia. Read Less

Don't be fooled by promises of a natural sulfur spring mud bath. It was an assembly line with huge numbers of people being rushed through a small area of muddy water. You applied the mud to your skin from 5-gallon buckets. Guides were yelling at you to hurry and make room for others behind you. Swimming in the natural pool under the waterfall was a similar experience. Rocky bottom, painful to the feet; too many people. Read Less

Between photo/shopping/restroom purposes we stopped probably 5-6 time during the drive between the ship and the volcano. So broken up nicely. The mud bath part was fun. We entered a hot spring to open our pores, then we climb out and there are buckets of volcanic mud to smear all over yourself and each other. Then back into the hot spring to rinse off. By the time we left it was pretty crowded, but the tour got us there before it got too crowded. We stopped for a Caribbean buffet lunch at a restaurant perched on the side of a hill overlooking the Pitons. The food was really good. Read Less
