Antigua Island Tour Excursion Reviews

The largest of the British Leeward Islands, Antigua boasts one of the Caribbean's most spectacular coastlines with secluded coves and sun-drenched beaches.

Nice tour of island.

Nice tour of island. Opportunity to go to beach for an hour at the end. Tour in small mini bus. Driver did good job of getting to prime locations before the volumes of cruise tours arrived at them.

St. Johns, Antiqua was an accessible port from the ship. We booked the Island Overview tour and it was a good tour. We were left off a few blocks from the ship, near a flea market full of individual stalls. We also found a place to eat lunch near the market. The lunch was basically Jerk Chicken, Rice and Beans, with Cole slaw. It was ok. We thought it was overpriced. If we had seen the restaurants closer to the ship, we would not have selected it. The flea market is interesting, but mostly full of junk souvenirs. All I can say is Buyer Beware for this flea market. I was shown handkerchief dresses the correct size for my granddaughters, but upon reviewing the purchase later, found that 2 dresses too small were substituted. This was a major disappointment, since these dresses are only available for purchase in the Caribbean. Read Less

Tour left 1 hour late. First stop to the estate was just an old house full of old, dusty items. Second stop to pineapple farm was a waste as there were no pineapples growing and we didn't even get to get off the bus. Beach was lovely however, tour guide gave us option of eating first or beach. Group chose eating, then we were told food wasn't ready for an hour. When it was ready, there were few plates and utensils, with up to 2-6 people waiting at any given time (some with food on their plates already). Food was good. I thought sun lounger was included in the price and was told an upright chair was included and the lounger I was preparing to lay on would be an extra $15. Be clear on chair type in tour description. e booked this tour through our travel agent which we often do. it was a 4 hour tour, hitting all the high spots of the island. The driver/guide was very well informed and gave us a lot of details about the history of the island. The thing that impressed us the most was how he helped my husband who is somewhat mobility challenged. He even got us our rum drink that came with the tour. Another bright spot was one of the vendors at the Dock Yard. I had found a t shirt I really wanted but she did not have one in my size. Instead of trying to push me into something else she told me I could probably find one at one of the shops near the ship. I wish I had gotten her card, I would advise everyone to stop by her booth. My husband did end up buying a shirt from her, but it after she tried to help me. added to how nice she was is: her prices were very good. One downer to the tour, we were advised we would be picked up just outside the gates of the ship. Well, it must have been about 1/2 mile walk and then after he located us, we had to walk another couple of blocks. On our return he dropped us off much closer to the ship. Read Less

Amazing Antiqua was a bus tour that took us to the original British fortifications from the early 19th century. We stopped at a point where the Caribbean met the Atlantic and was high up on a cliff for the British to monitor ships in the area. Then, we went on to a restored Georgian port where we saw beautiful modern sailing ships and had a glass of rum punch. There was a small museum that documented the history of the British navy here. It is a lovely, touristy area that is worth the stop. The guide to the Nelson's Dockyard was excellent as was the guide on the bus. Read Less
