We enjoyed both activities but the hour wait after getting off the ship, standing in a confined space with hundreds of people ruined the day. Everything would have been quicker and smoother if we hadn't gone through Carnival.

We boarded the Cayman Explorer and off we went to Stingray City. Stingray City is a sandbar located in a bay on Grand Cayman. The water is about three feet deep. There is a good natural supply of food for stingrays. Therefore it became a good way to teach visitors about stingrays in their natural environment. We spent nearly an hour with the stingrays. We snorkeled some, took a few underwater photos and video. Then the fun started. We petted, held, and even kissed a stingray. Afterwards, we made a fist. A piece of squid was placed in our fist so we could feed the rays. One thing to remember, keep your thumb down. Stingrays are bottom feeders and feed by sucking their food out of the sand. If your thumb is sticking up, they will think its food and suck your thumb. Once we got back to the port, we walked around George Town for a bit. Our guide on the Stingray City tour told us about a Rum Cake store that has free samples. We had to hit there. Read Less

OUTSTANDING! Twenty minutes out in the ocean standing in beautiful clear blue water is only a small part of what makes this excursion great. Bert, our guide from Marineland Tours is fantastic. The experience of holding, feeding, and even kissing creatures from the sea is unbelievable. I especially like the fact that the stingrays are not enclosed in an area like the dolphin swim excursion. These stingrays are free to come and go as they please. Read Less

AMAZING. Moby Dick Tours is fantastic! These guys are sssooo great! We had a relaxing boat ride out to Stingray City and we snorkeled and played with stingrays! Wonderful afternoon and I wouldn't book with anyone else!!!! It is a smaller operation which means more personal and not feeling like you moving through a herd of cattle. Also... at stingray city... I noticed all the boats and people together.. Moby Dick goes off to the side a bit away from the crown and makes sure everyone who wants to gets to touch and hold and feed the rays! Read Less

Grand Cayman – We booked the deluxe stingray city tour – this included a bus ride to the dock, boat ride out to the sand bar in a nice boat with walk into the water stairs. Then we were at the sandbar for around an hour where we swam with the rays, touch them and fed them. Kids loved it. The tour was only 2 – 2.5 hours so we had time before our tour in town. We headed to the left from the dock and found a nice seafood restaurant right on the water. Great fish and chips and stairs down into the water where you could swim with the fish and explore. You could throw your leftovers in the water and bring a bunch of fish (big and small). We really enjoyed it, but it was about $80 as it was $60 in Cayman dollars. At Grand Cayman you have to take tenders (boats that seat you and 250 of your closest friends) between the ship and shore. If you have an excursion booked you can go early or leave with any tender group. Otherwise you get a tender group and have to go at certain times. Read Less
