Our first cruise on the Anthem was March 2018. In a little over a year, there has been a general decline. Coordination was poor in several areas. We had Anytime Dining. When asking for a table for 4, you would have thought I asked for nuclear codes. Some nights, it took 4 or 5 staff members and several radio discussions to get a table assignment. One night, they sat us at a table in the hallway used by wait staff. We even had other cruisers sitting on a sofa next to us. Another huge step down was the Cruise Director. Last year we had Clo, this year Mitch. I know people seem to love Mitch, but I just don't see it. Mediocre Mitch. The CD Entertainment Staff was also a big step down. Last year, they were humorous and engaging. Not so this year. Technical difficulties appeared everywhere -- multiple shows rescheduled due to technical difficulties; Name that Tune only had 7 of 10 contestants due to technical difficulties; Royal IQ app that couldn't connect many times; the North Star didn't work in the 9 day cruise. But the big problem was in our friends' cabin (8222). Bed bugs were found on day 6. After one night, they had itching backs and thought it was soap. Looking past the huge miss on turn over day 1, Royal handled this horribly. A general message was left on their phone. What??? Someone should have met them when they came back on the boat or in their room, not a phone message. They were downgraded from their suite to a balcony, all their clothes and belongings taken away in clear plastic bags down the hallway. Royal dropped the ball again when NOTHING was offered to them. Show empathy, guest services, and throw them a specialty restaurant dinner while you figure out the next step. Throughout the days ahead, the only thing Royal offered was a future cruise credit for their original amount. Everything else was asked for by my friend. They did comp a cabana at Labadee and a specialty dinner, but only after they asked for it. Royal offered an onboard credit for this cruise. When my friends asked for the money to be changed, lower future credit and larger current cruise credit, corporate turned them down. They then received a form letter describing how they were unhappy that their cabin did not meet their expectations. Since when was a bed bug free cabin an "expectation". Read Less

Well just got back today from my second RCL cruise and definitely my last. I have been on 14 cruises and this was the worst one I’ve ever been on. My husband, son and I had a balcony room on the 11th floor. I will say the room was nice and stayed very cool throughout the whole voyage. That was great. There was nothing else positive. Food was just ok in the buffet. Very little variety. A little better in main dining room. Coffee horrible. Our toilet overflowed 5x during the 9 day cruise. They had to come in and replace the whole toilet and it still overflowed. Water was clean but flooded whole bathroom. This was happening to a lot of people on the ship. The North Star was broken all week and actually was broken before we got on the ship I found out. Nobody ever got to go on at all. We had 2 reservations for it which meant nothing and they never informed anyone it was broken. It’s literally the main attraction of this ship and one of the reasons I booked it. Everyone was very disappointed. We had reservations for the We Will Rock You show. 1000 people in the theater waited an hour for the show just to have a guy come on stage to tell us to leave because the show is cancelled due to technical difficulties. People were not happy. Another show also cancelled due to technical problems. The entertainment on this ship is the worst I’ve ever seen. The few shows I did get to see were boring and lackluster. The goodbye show was so so bad. I feel bad for the crew on this ship because they do not look happy at all. Overworked and underpaid and it shows. Nobody bothered with us unless they were trying to get money. They nickel and dime you the whole cruise to the point where you want to hide somewhere. $3.00 for a little bag of popcorn for the show.....which gets cancelled anyway. The wait lines for any of the activities were way too long. Bumper cars, flow rider. The bigger ships just mean more people. This benefits the cruise line not you. They keep touting how great these huge ships are but more cabins don’t mean more fun for you. I’ll stick to smaller ships from now on. When I voiced my issues and concerns with guests services they did absolutely nothing for us. This will definitely be my last RCL Read Less

We' cruised on the Allure out of Ft Lauderdale the past two years and wanted to try a new new ship. We traveled to CoCo Cay, St Thomas and St Marteen on the trip. OUr daughter and her best friend just graduated from college and the trip was a gift to them. We took the Cortrans shuttle service from the Embassy Suites airport hotel in Orlando to the cruise port and from the cruise port to the airport at the end of the cruise. Relatively inexpensive, timely, friendly and comfortable. Embarking at Port Canaveral was a breeze. On the ship in 15 minutes from the time we stepped off the shuttle. The Harmony is big, beautiful, and busy. Longer lines than the Allure, but nothing severe. All the shows were fantastic, and the food was great. We tried the Abyss slide (very cool, only slightly terrifying at the beginning) and the water slides. Both were fun. We also did the Escape Room on the trip and found it very entertaining. We did "escape" with ten minutes to spare lol. We've done the zip line and rock climbing on previous cruises. The water view rooms we booked (3654, 3656) were fantastic! Quiet, convenient and perfectly situated. After the cruise the wife and I both agreed that we liked it better than our previous interior balcony view rooms on deck 12 on the Allure. Steps from the elevator and main dining room, but around a corner so there wasn't much foot traffic going by, and plenty of room to move inside, with lots of storage. St Thomas, St Johns and St Marteen have all come a long way from the hurricane damage of 2017. We love St. Marteen and toured the nation park on St. Johns. It was incredibly beautiful and we would love to go back. On St Marteen we toured Ft Luis in Marigot and took the See and Sea tour at Grand Case. Much cooler than I expected! Saw sting rays, sea turtles and a barracuda at the reef. The "kids" did the sting ray excursion at Coco Cay and the Sea Lion excursion at St. Thomas and can't stop talking about them. And speaking of, Coco Cay was wonderful. Lots of activities on the island, beautiful beaches and the water was amazing. We went kayaking and saw coral reefs and sting rays swimming by. Also spent some time swimming in the huge freshwater pool. We both liked it even more than Labadee. Dining room was excellent as always and it seemed that the staff on the entire ship have been given happy pills. The crew members on RCCL have always been great, but this was over the top. You always felt like a VIP every time you interacted with a crew member. All in all a great time! Read Less

Maybe the ship wasn't full but there were still loads of passengers.I loved having cruise documents on the app and knowing cabins would be open at 1:30 (they were). Sea Pass was on my door.The storage seemed a little space but I was by myself so had room. My android phone did not fit in the charging station. I still wish there was music in the cabin (brought my own CD player). The entertainment choices were wonderful. From the shows to individual musicians. It was hard to keep on top of what I wanted to hear. Make reservations for big shows if you are a group. It will show up on your app and remind u that u have them. Food was good enough. I especially liked being able to have Indian curry when it was not on the menu. The buffets had big assortments of food. I would have like to have more gourmet cheese like brie to take to my room. Being a Diamond member I liked the free cocktails at bars during cocktail hour. That way I didn't need to go to a specific area for them. Loved the quiet of Central Park. Have booked another cruise in this area.The pools were crowded and water warm with all the bodies. I went to the solarium and kids pools to get in cool water. I loved Momma Mia and saw it 3 times. Our first cruise ever was on our 25th wedding anniversary in 2002 on the Soveriegn of the Seas. My DW and I had never been treated so good. We did 2 other sailings with RCL as well as 2 with Disney, 2 with MSC, 1 with Princess. For this year's cruise we wanted to get back on RCL, so we booked the Allure. Never having been on a "Mega-Ship" we had concerns. We did our homework on the ship. DW and I watched TONS of You Tube videos (Thanks to all that posted!) and I studied the deck plans so we both felt comfortable with moving around on board. WELL ....... the ship was much larger than we could have imagined and even with all our homework we thought "Oh No, we're gonna be lost!" Not the case. Moving about the ship was so simple! The ship is simply beautiful! We loved the "Neighborhood" concept. We booked a Boardwalk Cabin with a great view of the Aqua Theater so we could see the show anytime we liked! John, our cabin steward was AWESOME!!! He treated us like we were the only people in his section! We absolutely loved him! The room itself was great plenty of storage space. Also I let RCL know that I had a CPAP for my sleep apnea and they had an extension cord and a gallon of distilled water for me to use during the cruise.How great is that?! The food was FANTASTIC and our wait staff of Andre(the giant) our assistant waiter, Marlon(Brando) our waiter and Aton(no nickname) our head waiter were absolutely wonderful! We were never in need of anything, anything we wanted we got! They were also just plain great to be around! Wonderful people. RCL's entertainment is top notch. Ocean Aria, Mamma Mia, Earl Turner (Headliner), Blue Planet and Ice Games ...... ALL AMAZING! We also went to comedy live and never laughed that hard in quite awhile! The entertainment staff is funny, engaging and just plain FUN!! Jimmy Rhodes (Cruise Director) and Flavio (Activities Manager) are the best! Jamezy and BeBe are great! We've never had that much fun playing trivia!!! Ice Skating in Studio B, The pools, hot tubs and "The Current" (not giving that one away), rock climbing wall, zip line sport court miniature golf, Flow Rider total thumbs up! The service is simply off the chart! The staff on RCL just can't do enough for you. Cristan (bartender at Sorrento's) and Iris (bartender at the Pool bar) are just the greatest! Other cruise lines do these same types of things and, although I've had good experiences with other lines, it's RCL's people and Customer Service that set it well apart from all the rest! I know I've left some things out but I'm at work writing this and, unfortunately, I need to get back to reality! Read Less

The Breakaway was very clean, the staff on board was pleasant. The dining experience was exceptionally well. We dined at Cagney’s, which is one of the ala carte restaurants. I definitely recommend booking a reservation here. They have options for everyone. We also ate at the French restaurant Le Bistro. Small and romantic- dress code applies. The other nights we ate between Taste and Savor. We chose this cruise because of the destination. All 3 ports were amazing. I had no expectations, but it was very enjoyable. Nobody was pushing you to buy things, and everyone was so nice. We did a non NCL tour in San Juan, PR. it was with a company called "Taste of San Juan." We walked and ate on our tour. Our tour guide was very personable and he explained everything, and gave us the history if he knew it. St. Thomas we did the skyride and then the Champagne Cataraman snorkel on the dancing dolphin - through NCL. that was an awesome experience as well. if you like to check out the beautiful landscape/ocean/and ocean life. this is the excursion for you. Tortola we just hung out and did the island beach break. our taxi bus driver was cool, he told us alot of the history and answered questions people had about the island. once you get to the beach you pay $5 per chair and umbrella and swim in the ocean or catch some rays. You are pretty much on your own until it is time to leave. There are resturants and bars along the beach and water activites you can do for a price. Read Less

I am a fan of Carnival cruise line. I have sailed on multiple cruises with them. The Breeze is one of the best ships I have been on. They offer a good selection of entertainment and activities [we really enjoy the karaoke and trivia and were disappointed that we missed some trivia games due to being in port while they were taking place :(]. The staff are very pleasant and attentive to guests’ needs. The food is high quality and Guy’s restaurants are delicious, which is one of the top reasons I prefer Carnival cruise lines. On the Breeze I would avoid balcony stateroom #6406 if you are a light sleeper (which unfortunately I am). The room is right above the Redfrog pub and most evenings you will hear loud music until midnight or later. You can also hear the music from the Liquid nightclub even after the pub has shut down for the night, which is a constant bass beat and can be quite annoying. The lanai promenade and corn hole game is also just below the outdoor balcony and you can hear when people are playing the game(even while inside the stateroom)it is a constant thumping sound and is sometimes played late in the night as well. People outdoors on the lanai promenade can be very loud at times. The balcony view is also not ideal due to the lanai promenade obstructing the view. Read Less

We choose the carnival Breeze this year because we heard it was an incredibly ship, and it was. Our cabin Stewart was Great she was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The lines on the lido deck were long but hey we’re on vacation, not a big problem for me. I enjoyed the chance to talk and meet new people. We Loved the 80’s Rock and Glow night, we just wished they had the 80’s trivia game the same night. We enjoy dressing up in our costumes. The ports were beautiful and breathtaking, the water was so blue. The staff was also extremely friendly and really helpful we never needed anything. Our waiters in the Dining Room were incredible, they remembered our names and what we liked to eat and drink. Thanks Carnival for the wonderful memories Read Less

We are a late-60s couple who enjoy cruising. This was our fifth cruise, first with Disney. We were traveling with a large family party. We had a very good time, but I thought I would write this review slanted toward older adults who are trying to decide if a Disney cruise is right for them. First the bottom line, then the good and the not so great. Bottom line: it was great for an extended family gathering. I am less energetic than my younger relatives and could enjoy quiet time in the adult areas while they were off doing fun family things. We got to gather as a family at night at dinner and enjoyed hearing about their adventures. Are we glad we went? Absolutely. Would we do Disney again just as a couple? No. See below. The good... We thought Disney Fantasy was great. It was spacious, spotless, very well run. The food was great both in Cabanas and in the dining rooms. * Food - We didn't have a single bad meal. We thought it was far superior to Carnival, somewhat better than Norwegian. Not as good as Windstar but Windstar is much smaller and more expensive. The bars were great, bartenders efficient and friendly. * Cabin - Our deluxe oceanview cabin was larger and better organized than similar cabins on other cruises (except, again, for Windstar). * Entertainment - We didn't do any of the shows but our family members who did seemed to enjoy them. We thought pirate night was a lot of fun. * Embarkation - Embarkation and debarkation were efficient. We used the 'don't see your bags until your home airport' option and loved it. * Adult space - Disney did a good job with providing quiet adult-only space. The deck spaces especially were much better than either Carnival or Norwegian ships we have sailed on. The not so great... although I would give Disney high marks overall, some things don't suit everyone. * Disneyfication - we enjoyed seeing the characters and all the branding on board, but for adults without children it is something we wouldn't want to do again except with family. Unless you are a Disney fanatic, once will probably do it for you. * the 'go figure' category - some things just didn't make sense. We were staying at a Disney Resort, which you would figure would get you on the ship at a reasonable time. Not so. We had to have our bags packed and ready at 8:00 a.m., but our transport didn't get there until 12:30, which meant we didn't get on the ship until close to 2:00 p.m. Bummer. * the dining rooms are unavoidably very noisy. Lots of kids, lots of noise. If you are adults sailing alone, probably not your atmosphere of choice. * lack of activities for adults. One of the main reasons we wouldn't do Disney again is that the activities for adults without children was distinctly lacking. A bit of trivia (ok), bingo (been there, done that), and tasting/mixology classes that were booked long before we got to try to sign up for them. We were a bit bored during the day. * the excursions were oriented toward active families. Fair enough - that's the market. But we were disappointed in the range of excursions available. Other cruise lines have done a much better job. * prejudice against first-time cruisers. See above. It seemed to me that Disney was much worse about this than other lines we have used. I know you have to give preference to loyal members, but you should balance that with giving some opportunities to first-timers. So, again, glad we went. Good value, great fun, excellent food. We did a lot of research as both my wife and I haven't cruised for at least 20 years as so much has changed. We wanted to make sure we saw the new features so were looking for a newer ship. This ship had so much to offer with the zipline, rock climbing wall, water slides, basketball court, numerous pools and hot tubs as well as being a new ship. We watched a number of videos and attempted to create a packing list of what we thought we needed which were very helpful. The only two things we missed was Aloe (had to pick some up in Puerto Rico) and a package of straws. We didn't realize they use paper straws so attempting to drink a frozen drink from a paper straw is a frustrating experience. We'll make sure to pack some straws the next time. For the on-boarding process I thought it was absolutely fantastic, granted I don't have experience with other cruise lines but I couldn't have pictured this going any smoother. We parked in the parking garage at terminal A, mostly because this was our first time in the area and knew we were going to pay a premium for it. We got to the terminal at about 10am mostly because we were excited and couldn't wait any longer to get there. Our boarding time was slated for 12pm. Once we parked someone came right over and took our bags away (we had the tags already on them). Then it was just us and the carry on bags which was simple to navigate. We entered the terminal and there was always an agent telling us where to go next. We walked straight into the security area with no wait at all. Certainly not like an airport. Then entered the waiting area. Once they started calling groups (key members, layers of loyalty members, etc...) we were in the first group they called and they called a bunch of groups right after each other so people could enter the ship pretty quickly. We were on the ship by 11:30. We knew not to go to the windjammer as it would be packed so instead went to the boardwalk and got a couple hot dogs and started to explore this beautiful ship. The rooms were available at 1pm right on the dot so certainly a well organized machine they have going on here. We immediately unpacked as our luggage was there, something else we learned from videos. I tried to find a room with bunk beds for the kids but I couldn't find one in the balcony area. They may exist but I just couldn't find one. So we had a couch with a pullout for my son. It was fine except in the mornings you can't make it to the balcony without stepping on the bed waking him up. Magnets work great on the walls but use the rare earth magnets. I had a combination of cheap magnet hooks as well as rare earth ones and there was a significant difference. The dry erase board was also a big winner as we could leave notes for each other when we left and where we were going. The bathroom was fine and there was enough room for one person and on occasion we had a couple people in there but not for long. Standard balcony size is good. Didn't need any more space out there and the chairs were comfortable. We signed the kids up for their respective kid areas but my son never wanted to go and my daughter (16) really only went the first night then hung out a couple times with a friend she met. When signing up Royal didn't really communicate with either one of them what they would be doing, or could be doing there so our kids hung out with us which was fine, just think though they lost a fun experience with the kid events. Service was excellent all the way around. We had my time dining and had is scheduled pretty much at 6:30-6:45 each night. Something we noticed quickly was that when we left there were long lines trying to get into my time dining on deck 4 (around 8pm or so). Might be something people should consider when using my time dining, to get their time slated for 6-7pm to avoid some waiting. Another really nice touch I thought should be called out was that we ended up having the same server for dinner each night. I didn't expect that because we were in my time dining and not the set time of the main dining room. I thought that was a nice touch that they were able to organize that so you can build a relationship with the staff and learn a little about them and where they are from. I think the thing we had work on was the elevators on the ship. I don't think they are optimized or something. We would see elevators cruise by us (the clear glass ones) in the direction we were going but it didn't stop, then when one did arrive it was packed. I would say 80% of our elevator rides were packed. If we were on decks 5 or lower we would catch an elevator going down to go up. If we were on the 14-16 we would go up to go down. It would allow us to get on the elevator before it got packed. We also noticed that the elevators were always moving floor to floor. Some stay on a floor for a very long time so there seems to be something with optimization that could help with this problem. We also used the stairs more as the cruise went on. The fitness center and track around the ship are excellent. We spent a lot of time walking the track and really enjoyed the occasional game of shuffleboard hidden away along side the track. The ping pong on the other side was really difficult as their are open areas that allow wind in, and the ping pong ball would go flying due to the wind. The shows are pretty good. We really liked the Hiro diving show the most. Hairspray and Flight were okay but not our favorites. I thought what they did with Flight was really cool technically being able to accomplish those effects on a cruise ship. The comedians were okay. The ice show was really good from our perspective. We booked a kayak adventure at RC's Labadee, Haiti port and I wish I had thought about that more. If you aren't experienced with Kayaks or a canoe, it may not be a fun experience. Also this is not a real short trip so it could be tiring if you are out of shape. Our biggest complaint though on this excursion was that they stop half way through on a beach then subject you to locals pushing their merchandise. They were pretty aggressive and it was uncomfortable. There were ample opportunity to buy the exact same items in areas that with the main shopping areas. There doesn't seem to be a need to have this here and they were much more aggressive then in the main areas. Also keep in mind that lunch is 11:30-1:30 and our excursions were back to back so we almost missed lunch. Ooops. Watch out for the watch sales on the ship. If you want to buy a watch, make sure you have the internet package so you can price shop. The alcohol prices were pretty good especially if you buy in 2-4 bottles to get the discounted prices. I ended up buying some rum in Puerto Rico which I was happy with that wasn't available on the ship. It was delivered to my room the last night of the cruise. We found an advantage using the parking garage for disembarkation. When entering the area where the luggage is located there is a line of helpful guys ready to take your luggage to your vehicle. This was a no brainer. We tipped the guy $2 a bag and he navigated all the way through customs and to our vehicle. I also think they allowed us to bypass some of the line since we had them helping us. Not sure about that but there were folks that had their own luggage and we walked right by them. I called out a few of the things we learned on this ship to help others on their adventure. We had a great time on this ship and everything on this ship met our expectations. The food was top notch, the facilities are practically new and fully functional, the crew was fun and we were really pleased we chose this ship. The bar is set pretty high for our next cruise. We chose this ship because I like big ships! Symphony is certainly that. We had smooth seas, but the ship is so large, i don't think i ever felt a movement in the week. This ship is truely impressive. Sooo many things to do for adults, children and everyone in between. i'll highlight a few of the things we particularly liked: - Don't miss the show Hiro. very well done and reminded me of "O" in Vegas. - The mexican "loco Fesco" eating area in the aft of the ship was very good for burritos, taco's and mexican breakfasts. Very good salsa bar (chili Verde especially) - if you like Jazz, the "Earth Wind and Fire" jazz band performs several times in the Jazz bar and the talent of those guys are simply amazing. - Playmakers sports bar is a big hit if there is a sporting event you want to see (Boardwalk) - Chops....im not exaggerating when i say i believe this was the best filet i've ever had. (and i traveled all my life) -Jaime's was outstanding. get their meat plank for starters! - Importantly, The size of the ship and the numerous things to do make it seem less obvious there is 6000 people on board. a real plus RC! - RC has embarcation and debarkation down!!!! The smoothest i've experienced yet with RC in their new Miami Terminal. Very Very well done. - If you enjoy "anytime dining" i recommend you reserve a time on their site. it makes is much nicer for you than winging it when you want to eat. - The Pinel Island tour was alot of fun. A very little slow paced island on the french side of St. Martin. We really enjoyed that. - Solarium is always nice when you want to dodge the Windjammer for eating. - Trellis Bar in Central Park is a wonderful way to relax with a cocktail (which i particularly like to do) and listen to guitar music. (come to think about it, we did this alot) enjoy your trip! this is truely an amazing ship i can't wait to go on the new Spectrum when it gets here, Read Less

Easiest embarkation ever. Luggage delivered to my room 2 hours before scheduled Front Desk handles all request, fun parties, wonderful kid programs - get the kids to join you won't be sorry. Buffet is awesome. Hard to believe the number of breakfast items to suit all tastes. Burger shop, pizza shop Gluten free, sugar free desserts every day. Best service ever at the buffet. There were 186 teens aboard and they were kept very busy. St Marten 10 best sites excursion is well worth $49.95 and if you are lucky enough to get "Ash" you'll see and learn more about this Island than you knew existed. We went with family/friends. The ship is beautiful but is run very poorly. My room was dirty and I always bring Lysol wipes with me so I cleaned it myself. We saw the guy maybe 4 times and he was nice but not very thorough when cleaning. (He left a plate with food on it for two days on the dresser). We were told out room was to have a see through balcony with glass and it had metal on the bottom so we couldn't see out unless we stood up. Very few people to help you navigate the ship and the signage is almost non existent. The maîtred in the ship restaruant was very good as was the mgr of the ship's buffet. The food was just okay; sometimes good and sometimes not so good. The ship has many drink packages and they screwed up most of them. The people on the ship including the employees complained where ever we went. More complaints than compliments. No need to get a drink package unless you plan to spend more than what you pay in drinks. Both with and without alcohol. The non alcohol package came with soft ice cream which they gave to anyone and it was rarely available but when the machines where working, it was very good. This package was supposed to come with flavored water etc... and they had no idea what this is. In other words we got screwed royally. The entertainment was good but very repetitive; acts were repeated each night to a different stage ie... lights, costumes etc... Some of them were very good and some seemed to need more practice as they were out of sync a lot when dancing. The stingray excursion in the Cayman's was excellent and I highly recommend it but it is less expensive going on your own than booking through the ship. The last day in the Bahamas was terrible as the ship failed to tell us that it was their labor day and most everything was closed so after walking around in the heat we went back to the ship's swimming pool. The pools are not big enough to accommodate the amount of people on the ship and not enough pool seating. The casino was just okay and I never saw all the games up and running at one time. Few personnel to take drink orders and fix machines when necessary. Not enough slot machines overall compared to other cruise lines. The bars were so understaffed that you had to wait and wait to just get a bottle of water. The people working there tried their best but they are so understaffed I can't express this enough. You wait forever to get someone to answer the phone when calling down to the desk. This ship is not ready for the American market. They cater to the European market. Americans expect to see people smiling and being nice, cleaning all the time and making sure you keep the germs to a minimum. This is not expected the European market I was told. I spoke with many people on this ship and only one person had all nice things to say. I am being very sincere and not exaggerating. I love to cruise but this is my first and last cruise on this cruise line. Read Less

We arranged this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! We were a group of 9, ages from 3 to 72. Everyone had a fabulous time! The kids programs for ages 3, 6 and 12 were really wonderful. The food was some of best we've had (we've sailed on Norwegian, Princess, Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean). Our whole group ate at Giovanni's to celebrate our anniversary and I would definitely recommend it. The entertainment was amazing and we went to all the shows! We had a balcony cabin and the cabin steward was great. We didn't do any excursions through Royal Caribbean and did our own thing in ports. Our favorite port was St. Maarten. We reserved chairs and umbrellas ahead of time with Nik at Lazy Lizard Beach Bar which was an easy 15-20 minute walk from the dock. The chairs and umbrellas were right on the beach and all set up and waiting for us when we got there. We got 2 chairs, umbrella, use of a locker and restroom, Wifi and bucket of 6 beers or 2 cocktails for $20. Best deal anywhere! Nik and his wife were super nice and helpful and the food and drinks were amazing! Really the only thing I can criticize about the whoe cruise is all the upselling and charges on this ship. Charging for popcorn, really?? Also, the drinks were crazy expensive. Read Less

My husband, daughter and I just got off of the Allure on Sunday. We had the best time on this beautiful ship. Everyone from the cabin steward (Norman, room 6280) to our waiters (too many to mention) to the nice people that we met, including a family that lives about 10 mins from us, was wonderful. Our room (ocean view balcony) was very roomy and we had plenty of room to store all of our clothes and "stuff". There were 3 adults in the room, so we thought that would be difficult, but to our surprise, it wasn't at all. The shows were fabulous as well. We saw "Ocean Aria" and the comedy show (twice) as well at the headliner show. We didn't get to Mama Mia though and I'm sorry that we didn't. The pool games were all fun and the staff was energetic and entertaining. We thought the cruise director was very good and fun too. We especially loved him dancing in the "70's show" on the Promenade. All of the food was very good as well. We had my time dining and enjoyed different locations with different waiters every night. The buffet was delicious, hot and diverse too. We enjoyed all of the ports, but Labadee the most. We did the Orient Beach/Maho Beach excursion at St. Maarten and the traffic was a nightmare. We probably wouldn't do that again. We just shopped and walked around a bit (in the drizzle ) in San Juan. Getting on and off of the ship was a breeze too. We did expedited dis-embarking so we could pack our "beauty aids" with us in the morning and it wall went as smooth as clock work. Really the only thing that we didn't like, was having to say good-bye to this fabulous ship, but we will definitely be back. Read Less

With that said, we were traveling with a party of 10, 5 balcony cabins in a row but somehow they split one of the cabins and so not a fixable thing. Also, one of our cabins had leak from Sunday to Wednesday and it was a flood zone 4 ft in from the doorway...and all they wanted to compensate was 2 drinks until my friends fought and fought until there was a resolution. Dining room food was never hot and the menus not so great. No escargot--my favorite, also no Bananas Foster, another favorite. Shows were good, bars were ok. Embark and debarkation was easy. Islands were great; it wouldve been better if we could've stayed longer--crappy times for the ports. Also, chairs were saved in the Serenity adult section from 6:30 am so we never got to experience that area. This was my 18th cruise and I wont be doing Carnival again. Read Less

We, as a family of five (three adults and two teens), decided to try a comparison cruise with MSC through the Caribbean, having had great past experiences with Holland America and Celebrity. As always, we went with a standard Veranda, but enhanced it a bit with MSC’s “Aura Experience”. With one exception, I’ll explain later, it’s definitely worth every penny. Thanks to Aura’s priority embarkation we were aboard quickly—look for the PRIORITY sign off to the left as soon as you get inside the cruise port. We had intentionally arrived in early afternoon (for a 7pm sailing) and we’d barely gotten aboard (ducking the beverage card hawkers) when an announcement was made that our staterooms were ready. One of our family members required a wheelchair so I immediately made my way to the customer relations desk to arrange for one. I expected a long line, being departure day, and indeed it was fairly long, but I was in no hurry. It did surprise me that the desk wasn’t fully manned, I know this because I had to return the wheelchair on the final day and at that time the desk was full. Our steward did a wonderful job, replacing towels whether we’d left them on the floor or not, and other subtle touches. Sorry, for those who crave towel critters, there’s none of those here. Basic shampoo and soap were provided in the shower to wash the pool salt from one’s hair but, sorry, no conditioner. Stewards don’t have it nor do the stores… but then, we couldn’t find a store that sold any basic personal items like, say, hair conditioner or sun screen. But if you took the cruise to buy jewelry, you’re in luck. This was our first experience with a ship of this size and this many passengers, and there were some things that were somewhat frustrating. One has to believe that the ship’s architects must have considered traffic flow as one of their top priorities, and yet, all their effort goes for naught by the placement of two posts and a rope, or a locked glass pass-through. One such place is the large buffet where traffic is designed to flow around a large center island. All is well until a stretched horizontal ribbon sends the flow back on itself, and making those sitting a short distance beyond the no-man’s-land, to be detoured back through the whole circle. A smarter approach was sometimes used—simply stretching plastic across the offerings of a section that wasn’t ready. Another traffic oops was constantly taking place a few decks below our stateroom as we watched hapless passengers, like an ant colony, make their way along the deck to a locked glass door that wouldn’t allow them to go from aft to fore because, as near as we could figure, they’d be going past the windows of an exercise area. I could picture some poor architects pulling their hair out. But there was one traffic flow issue they did to themselves by the placement of the theater—nearer to mid-ship—forcing those who wanted to travel fore-to-aft to figure out the most efficient elevator rides up-and-over or down-and-under, over-stressing the elevators which are always unavoidable bottlenecks. The sole downside to the Aura experience (especially with a wheelchair) is that the staterooms are located forward, so we had a long trek to the main pool, buffets, dining room and everything else located aft. It probably wouldn’t have helped, but what I thought was a forward elevator when I booked our stateroom turned out to be a crew-only stairway—my bad. There was no far forward public elevator. Perhaps due to the size of the ship or the calm seas but throughout the entire cruise it barely felt like we were moving. If I hadn’t looked outside I’d not have known when we’d arrived or departed a port-of-call. The wristbands are not dead-on location-accurate but a definite step in the right direction. No need to take our cards when we went to the pool, the bar or wherever aboard ship—even unlocking our stateroom door. Very nice. Room food service was available but our wheelchair-bound person was disappointed in the selection. We assume that with so many to serve, unless we wanted to pay a pricey fee, the options were quite limited. Best was to inconvenience a family member to go to the buffet to make the self-delivery. If one leaves dirty dishes on the dresser the stewards will remove them—outside your room, they’re on their own but will eventually disappear in a day or two. The food options at the buffets were somewhat repetitive but, with minor exception, there were enough choices for our satisfaction. I found by the third day that the smaller buffet was the best-kept-secret way to do breakfast—especially on excursion days when the early crowds were heaviest. The smaller buffet had all the breakfast choices, but less crowed and therefore less competition for seating. By the last day people were catching on. I always find that chefs most always do an awesome job but, being chefs, they tend to make decadent desserts. I would prefer just a tasty slice of pie, a simple brownie, a dish of pudding or ice cream (there was none of the latter in either buffet). To their credit, attendants do try to serve the needs of those dining in wheelchairs, even running off to get food for them. The main dining room menu had multiple offerings for dinner. It’s a wonderful way to experience unfamiliar dishes. The service was friendly, fast and efficient. No complaints, here. There’s no way around it, the large pool is quite crowded on at-sea days. The main pool was 6.5 feet deep throughout but with it being a warm salt water pool it didn’t take much effort to stay afloat. And they did have a lifeguard keeping watch. I reminded myself that one does not walk on the wooden part of the deck near the pool in bare feet on a sunny day—ouch! But I did discover that I could grab a regular-size gelato on my beverage card at no charge. As usual, there were no lack of bars. If one was busy, it was never a long walk to another. Some cruise lines won’t allow ordering more than one drink at a time on a single card—not so with MSC. And, of course, if you replace anything drunk from the minibar there’s no fee. Excursions were excellent, most having various levels. Take the one that has the most entertainment value for your budget. Finally, de-embarkation was done quickly—using facial recognition at security greatly sped things along. Well, except for our 13-year-old whose picture looked nothing like it did in her 4.5 year old passport. Chuckles all around. Here, and throughout the trip we found the staff members we encountered were polite, respectful and willing to help. All said and done, after polling our family members, most would likely do MSC again, however some thought they’d opt for something smaller. Read Less

This is my sister and I second experience sailing on seaside along with my nephew and his girlfriend for my sis 59 birthday. The trip didn't disappoint and hold up to our great pervious experience. Embarkation was a breeze and the line moved from the port lobby very quickly to get us onboard in no time. The staffs were great and friendly as well as the other cruisers who did speak English. Please keep in mind majority of the cruisers are from abroad therefore English is not the first language but you will get a smile with no words. I am ok with that. The shows on Seaside are entertaining and holds your attention the entire time. I am a average cruiser total 15 ytd on RCCL and NCL and I can gladly confirm, Seaside shows are the best at sea. The food are above average and taste the same. Nothing to write home about here. It's cruise food so we made the best used of it. The public areas are kept clean with plenty of bathrooms around but 2x I found 2 of the smaller bathrooms out of toliet paper. So always check for toilet papers first before undressing. Words of wisdom. The room Stewart Manuel is a ninja at keeping the cabin clean and stocked. Our restaurant hosts were also friendly. The ports were nothing to write home about since I am also from the Caribbean and have done the Eastern routes more than once. I have learned very quickly to enjoy the cruise ships life and not the destination since I live in Fl. This was my floating home for the week. My overall experience was great and booked another MSC Experience for Nov 2020 on the next new ship coming to Miami. Looking forward to another week of R&R next year on MSC. Read Less

We chose ship due to ports. This is our first carnival cruise although not our first cruise. We were on a family cruise celebrating my sons high school graduation! We are in our mid 40's with 2 teenage sons cruising. I'll start with the CONS: First off the Muster station drill.. Wow one gal had to be called 3 times at least! Not sure she ever showed up but we were held there nearly 45 mins to an hour shoulder to shoulder with other guests with little ventilation waiting on this lady to come for the drill! Why not do this in decks. There was a 60 second demo of how to use life vest and that was it - was played on the room TV too. Waste of time, people were so hot, crowded, and miserable. My hubby got pretty claustrophobic due to us waiting so long on one passenger. Ship was not clean, our balcony smelled like someone around was smoking all the time (even though not allowed and flares mine and my sons asthma), plexiglass on our balcony had handprints and smears (filthy) from previous guests, and dirty all over it (see pics). Food repetitive and got old fast. Other guests were entitled acting, loud, obnoxious, discourteous and we heard some bragging about being on 100% state/federal assistance programs! We felt like we were on a section 8/welfare cruise and I don't mean that rude, it is just the truth. Saw a previous review on this ship saying it was Jerry Springer type guests on here and I completely agree! The other passengers were pushing their way into food lines, like it was feeding time, loading plates to the brims, and just rude! It was gross to go through the buffet due to the people in the lines.. One lady got drunk and every night like clockwork went to the cabana staff (which were younger kids) and cussed them out and yelled until she got security there (that she asked for and was asking for the "Po-Po"). She needed to be contained and told this behavior wasn't allowed - I didn't take my kids on this ship to hear this language and see her trashy behavior. She was always claiming something she had was "stolen." Not sure why they continued serving alcohol to someone who was this loud, rude, cussing, and making such a scene - actually I do- for more $$ for carnival. These kids working didn't deserve this treatment either. They were doing their jobs trading in towels, but she felt she could tear them down and belittle them since she was drunk I guess.. The music was trashy and mostly rap- on repeat. No variances of music to accomodate other peoples music choices, but just for one set of guests in my opinion. There was no where you could go to get peace and quiet and relax on this ship. If you could find a quieter deck, there was a large white safety barrier blocking the ocean view. I asked a worker if I could put a chair on another deck which had a see through area and he said no. Like I mentioned above we were there for my sons graduation gift trip and he can not stand loud music and we found him hanging in the room most of the trip due to the loud chaotic environment. There were several pools rather than 1 large pool. They were either filled with little kids (packed full) or the adult pool which was a group of 20's age drunk men hitting on their girls for the day - which changed daily. Kind of entertaining I guess or disgusting. Swimsuits were minimal and should not allow thongs when people have kids on this ship. In the past when I cruised Royal Caribbean, the tipping was at the end of the ship and I felt like the staff/crew really worked for their tips. However, this ship I felt like an inconvenience (except in the formal dining room at night by wait staff). Staff and crew members (even the ones in all white or dressed up) would pass by in the halls or elevator and not say hello or engage in conversation. I've never experienced this before on other cruise lines. Their deli was one of the better places to eat but William who works there is rude and when I ordered my sandwich on a pretzel bun instead of the egg bun, he let out a huge sigh and rolled his eyes and was very rude in his tone and how he came across. They need to open a second deli somewhere in the ship - maybe in the O2 (teen hangout room) that was ALWAYS empty! The deli line was incredibly long every time! This should also tell them the food here is much better than the gross buffet. Wouldn't hurt to have just some chicken strips/fries on the buffet or something so you don' t have to wait in line for 30 mins for fries.. Desserts were beautiful and looked delicious but very disappointing when tasting. Only one worth the calories was the chocolate cheesecake one time. Toilets smelled so bad in our room, like a porta potty. Got worse everyday! Made you sick to use your own bathroom. My son (reason for our trip) was stoked for seafood on this trip. Said it wasn't really good, sushi (costs extra) was terrible and they did refund our money - thank you. But, I really expected good seafood and it wasn't tasty which was disappointing. In my opinion, they need to take a week off from cruising and update, renovate, and CLEAN this ship! I know they'd lose money not sailing for a week but this ship needs a good cleaning in corners, crevices, and scraping old rusty paint and re-painting. Decor needs updating. Bathroom counters etc are green in color. Cruise Director, Mat was funny to listen to but after day 2 or 3 he doesn't need to keep saying "Good morning ladies and gentleman, this is Mat your cruise director.." We know. He did do a good job entertaining - loved his laugh - was very genuine. The way he interacted with kids was funny and good too! Enjoyed Jake, Adele, and the other guy who MC'd too (can't remember his name-but bald and funny and had a b-day a few days after we got off the ship). We have teenage sons who loved the basketball courts they offered and had a lot of fun spending time there; staff was rude when they would come take the basketball away from these kids at 5:30 pm. Apparently there is a steakhouse underneath the courts so they don't allow them to play b-ball from 5:30-11pm. Therefore, every night we had to wait up til 1230 am so the kids could play ball from 11pm-12am. This is dumb. These kids paid the same as those ppl in the steakhouse to be here. Allowing them to have a ball from Noon-5:30pm then 11pm-12am needs to be re-evaluated or steakhouse moved - again maybe to the O2 lounge area that was always empty!!! Not a lot for teenage kids to do on this ship. Felt too old for the slides, pools were cramped with little kiddos, and not allowed in adult pools so they never stepped into a pool on the ship :( O2 lounge was empty as I stated above. Flags on the ship are a bit disrespectful and need to be replaced, they are torn up (see pics) Guests on this ship could not follow simple directions as I mentioned before they are all entitled. Now, there were a few normal people on here but not many. Mat the cruise director would give simple instructions for disembarkment process and no one could listen. We were on express disembark where we took our own luggage -haha it was anything but express. We were supposed to be off at 0830 and we didn't get off until 1010am due to the entitlement of others going before their deck was called. Literally waited on deck, in hallways, and theatre for 2 hours elbow to elbow with thousands of guests. Carnival said it was not their fault but one would think this was the first time they've ever emptied a ship! You need staff who are assertive and shut the elevators off! Mark off stair wells etc.. Had a lady keep saying "if you aren't on the stairs don't come down, if you are on an elevator, stay on and go back up to deck 9." If you have 1 crew for every 3 guests, put people at the top of the stairs and enforce it, shut down the elevators, get control of the unruly pushy guests! No one listened to her and just kept piling down the staircases and pushing their way through - we had to sit in the theatre for a while until we could get off due to this. This process needs re-vamped as well. King bed is only 2 twins pushed together..Don't fall in the crack when they move apart during the night! lol Elevators were Slllloooowww! Then when they opened, people would get on before letting others off which is super frustrating for a week straight. I was in the casino waiting on my husband and I was peering out a window looking at the ocean. A crew member came over and shut the shades to the window I was standing in front of.. I nicely said, "I was looking out that window at the ocean." and he said, "Oh sorry and proceeded to close the shades! What kind of customer satisfaction/service does this show? This was pretty much how all the crew treated us on this ship. Only Johnny (cabin steward) went out of his way to be kind and do a fabulous job! I've had 4 knee surgeries in past 1.5 years and I always liked going to the top decks on the ship to look out but elevators didn't go to the 11 and 12 floors and was definitely harder for me to get up the stairs but I made it. Would be nice if they had some way for people with knee issues/handicap guests to get to the top, this was the best view and somewhat quieter depending on what area of ship you were on. PROs The dancers/performers (4 women, 4 men) were amazing! We enjoyed each show each night, our favorite was the Flicks night. Their costumes could be a little less "cheeky" and showy of their butt cheeks and still have the same impact. They are talented and great singers/dancers. Their choreography is amazing and well rehearsed/performed! This was a huge highlight to us. Johnny our room steward was the only staff who was smiling, greeted me by name and kind. He did a great job and loved his towel animals each night!! Guest Services was very helpful booking an excursion after hours and in helping with anything we needed. Pools were drained, scrubbed well. That was reassuring as I mentioned above full of kids or 'horny' adults.. The staff really took their time and really cleaned these well when I watched one evening from afar. I wish they cleaned the whole ship like this! When waiting to get off ship on last day, Jesse was out working very hard scraping and re-varnishing benches around the pool. He was a hard worker and did a great job! Carnival Deli, 24 hour pizza, frozen yogurt, and Guys burgers were good - but only so many burgers you can eat in a week! PG comedian shows were hilarious! Despite the negative reviews I had read, I was tempted to try MSC by the status match (Diamond on RCCL matched to Gold on MSC) and the price - and I'm so glad that I did! The Seaside is absolutely gorgeous, the crew were polite and accommodating, entertainment was excellent, and I achieved my goal of rest and relaxation! Embarkation was fast - arrived at the port around 1:30pm, was on the ship by 2pm. I was in an Aurea balcony, room 9030 - cabin steward (Angela) was friendly and efficient, room was kept spotless! Loved the extended balcony and having a full size lounge chair to nap in. As others have mentioned, there is not a lot of storage space - only 2 drawers and a few shelves in addition to some hanging space - it was fine for just me but would have been challenging for 2 or more in a room. The shower is also small (if you drop anything you have to really maneuver to pick it up!), but does have a glass door instead of a shower curtain. I had the Easy Drink package as part of Aurea booking, but I don't drink alcohol so only took advantage of the non-alcoholic offerings (and frozen virgin drinks were included in the package). Gelato and specialty coffees/drinks at the chocolate bar were not included, but the gelato was so good it was worth paying the $6 for a cup every now and then! The spa and thermal suite were outstanding, so much better than what RCCL ships offer, and on par with what NCL offers on Breakaway class ships. I scheduled 2 massages that were excellent - and there was absolutely no effort made to sell me product afterward! I ate some meals in the buffet - I thought the offerings were similar to what you would find on RCCL, and also found that if you traveled to the back of the buffet you could find things that were not on offer at the front - it was also much less crowded at the back, and there are plenty of tables to eat at both outside and inside, I never had difficulty finding a table. I had anytime dining in the Seashore room, never waiting more than 5 minutes for a table and the service was always efficient, dinner never took more than an hour, and I enjoyed most of the dishes I chose. The nightly shows were excellent, especially the Michael Jackson show on the last night. They were all relatively short (30-40 min) and extremely well done - great singers, dancers, acrobats! I did only 1 shore excursion - coffee tasting and walking tour in San Juan - it was just OK, the guide was very informative but we only stopped at 2 places for coffee and did not have choice on what to have, and very little information presented. In St. Thomas and St. Marten I just walked around and did some shopping (have been to both of those islands many times before). In Nassau, I visited the Ardasta Zoo and Gardens (home of the marching flamingos) on my own and had a wonderful afternoon, highly recommend! I thought that the crew was friendly and efficient - I was very happy with the service I received throughout the cruise. I also did not experience any "rudeness" from fellow passengers as mentioned in many reviews - I met a lot of interesting and friendly folks from all parts of the world! My only disappointment was the casino for 2 reasons - no craps table, and too smoky. I will be sailing on MSC again in October on the Bellissima - can't wait! Read Less

We booked this cruise to celebrate our anniversary, but had never heard of MSC prior to this trip. Not knowing the line made us nervous, however we did plenty of research and reading of reviews prior to sailing so we had no surprises. Embarkation was a breeze and were on the ship less than 30 min from stepping out of our Uber. We knew to register our credit card, which we didn’t see right away but a crew member saw we were lost so walked us to the right location to get that completed. We were then free to grab a drink and explore the ship until our room was ready before 2pm. Our luggage was delivered to our room by about 4. There was a mistake in our dining selection time, as we requested late dining but was assigned a 5:30 time. We were told it would not be a problem and to request a time change with the maitre’d, which we did, but learned the wait list was over 100 people deep. Although frustrated we just decided it would not ruin our trip. Much to our pleasure, we received notification the next day our change was compete with our desired time. The food in the main dining room was very good. Dishes were small, but you could order additional if desired and they were very accommodating if it was something you didn’t like. I used this as a way to try something I would not order at home. On theme nights they had a short song/dance which we enjoyed. The food in the buffet was also very good, although it can get crowded with pushy people who push in front (but you get that anywhere). They did have pizza (get the white pizza at least once) burgers/hot dogs all the time but the other options changed. I saw many reviews with complaints that selections were the same every day, but I did not notice that although I always eat the same thing for breakfast every day regardless. We only did the buffet for breakfast/ lunch and rarely eat in between meals so we had plenty of choices for something different every day. When we did want a snack we loved the selection of meat/cheese available. Our room attendant, Colette, was very sweet. They have lights above the door so she knew when we were in room or not which we appreciated. (They do have a do not disturb button to select as well). We had one day where the toilet would not flush so we let her know. She called the plumber and it was fixed by the next time we were back in the room. The shows were very good, but had repetitive acts. The talent reminds you very much of a Cirque De Soleil show. I did enjoy them all, and none were over 40 minutes so it was a nice way to relax after dinner. The ship does get more formal after 6pm, which we enjoyed. We did hear from others who didn’t care to dress up (which was totally fine as well) but most stuck to the “theme” within reason. After dinner/show we ended up at the Miramar bar on the 19th deck every night. We loved that it was a quiet place with outdoor sofas and the best bartender, Sergio, on the ship. All the bar staff up there were great, non intrusive if you wanted a quiet evening, or kept the conversations going between guests at the bar. I am pretty confident this was one of our favorite places on the ship and we looked forward to it every night. During the day we enjoyed the 16th deck pool. There was a good mix of entertainment and time with just music. Being American we, especially, enjoyed the mix of different countries music. The entertainment staff spoke many languages and included everyone. We absolutely loved the fact that so many different cultures were enjoying the same thing together. We also enjoyed that the crew was very good about keeping children with parents, so they did not invade others space. It seemed that the kids kept mostly to the Jungle Pool and the kids area, although there were families on deck 16 as well. We noticed many times if a child was running around unattended the staff would escort them back to their parents or made them point them out so they knew they were not alone. Bar service at the pool could get busy, but it was easy to track someone down from your chair who would bring you something. The port of call times were unusual, but we did get into port early every time. This was our first Caribbean cruise together so we opted to explore on our own vs booking excursions. We noticed that St Thomas and St Marteen still have not recovered fully from the hurricane so we stuck to the shops and Maho Beach in St Marteen. Puerto Rico was a pleasant surprise as we were apprehensive of being there only at night, but never felt unsafe and loved the culture. Bahamas was beautiful and we enjoyed the public beach by Atlantis. (Pebble beach I believe). A taxi was only $4 per person each way, and we were able to get a taxi within the gate of port so it was very safe. I would highly recommend getting a drink package as bottled water/soda/juice and cappuccino is not included. We knew this and had the Easy Package purchased ahead of time. One thing to note is that the Easy Package includes select alcohol, drinks and coffee/tea to $6. A frozen alcohol drink, poolside is $11 so not part of the easy package. With that said, you can order two drinks per person (in cabin) at a time. The bartenders will help you get what you want. We ordered many “Virgin strawberry daiquiri’s with vodka” :) After a few days the staff learns your preferences and makes what you want. (Within reason of course). Overall we enjoyed our trip very much and already booked for next year. If you enjoy meeting people from all over the world you will love MSC. Read Less

We choose MSC for the price and the perks they were offering. We booked through vacations to go, it helped that our agent knew the ship and he was able to set us up for exactly what we were looking for. We selected the fastantica package which gave us all drinks up to $6.00 This worked well for us as the selection of drinks had what we normally drink plus a couple more we tried. I would also like to note, I am in the customer service industry, I get rated also, I have had 5 stars, and I have had 1 star. I read a ton of reviews right here on cruise critic, as you can see they are all over the place. The Ship. The Seaside is both stunning inside and out. You really don’t see how big it is until the first port at the dock. It seems like the terminal at Miami hides it a little. The inside is a bit overwhelming at first, but once you explore a little you see it’s true beauty and everything she has to offer. There are mirrors, chrome, glass, and marble everywhere. We arrived at the terminal at noon. I found the outside to be very busy, remember there are at least 5 other ships there at the same time. Once exiting the Uber in front of terminal F, people were there to take our luggage. We entered the terminal, went through security, and proceeded upstairs to check in. Check in was a breeze, there were at least 80 to 100 people behind the counter checking people in. From there we went up to a waiting area with a number. They were calling numbers every few minutes and taking a group onto the ship. We did not wait long at all. From arrival to our first steps onto the ship was exactly a half hour. That was impressive considering the cruise was sold out. Upon entering on floor number 6 there were people everywhere, it felt like everyone took 6 steps onboard and just stopped. We pressed through and went to find a kiosk to register the credit card. There was a long line at customer service, but there was staff working their way through the line to see if they could help faster, and this was the case for us, she came up to us, we asked where the kiosks were and she took us right to one. From there we went up to deck 18 to get away from the crowd. It looked like most people went right to the buffet on deck 8. We ate before we got on so we were able to explore. Don’t plan on getting on an elevator quickly on the first few hours, but we found elevators towards the front ( right off the casino) that were not too busy. State rooms are not ready until 2pm, so find a place to hang out and relax or explore during that time, I would avoid the atrium during that time. Once rooms are announced as ready it tends to calm down and doesn’t feel like there is 5000 other people around. The Staterooms We had an interior state room on deck 14. Again, ive read reviews where people complained that the state rooms were too small. Well they aren’t large but they are fine for the purpose. Your in your state room to sleep, shower or get dressed. They are the same on all cruise lines. Your not on a ship or on vacation to sit in your room all day. We met our room attendant Colette the next morning. She always smiled and greeted us anytime we saw her. Rooms were cleaned every morning, and our bed was turned down every night. She replaced our towels every time also. All in all no complaints whatsoever on the room. Our dining time was wrong on the first night, we had requested 7:30, but they had us at 5:30. No big deal, we ate at 5:30 and saw the maitre’d on the way out. The next day we had a letter on our door and he was able to accommodate us and got us the 7:30 dining time. We were put at a table with 3 other couples, not a big deal and actually I was very glad to meet all of them. The Food The food was not bad at all on both the Dining room. They allow you to order whatever you want and any amount on the menu. There is a different theme every night. Other reviews complained the portions were too small, they aren’t huge but there was an appetizer, salad, main course, and dessert. I was always full after leaving the dining room. The buffets were great, a lot of selection. Other reviews complained the selection was the same every day. To a point that is true, the staple foods were the same. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, salad, French fries, etc. Everything else changed up daily. There is also a meat carving station towards the back of the buffet, there were different carvings daily. We went every morning to the buffet on deck 8 for breakfast and ate outside on the deck. Hint, the pizza on deck 8 was thin crust, but the pizza on deck 18 was thick crust. The Pools. Miami Beach pool was where we were the whole time. Yes people reserved chairs early, however there were enough of them and there was never any issues up there. South beach pool was the adult only pool and we did hear of some issues with chairs down there. We would eat breakfast no later than 8am and then go up to Miami Beach and there was always chairs. After lunch chairs would clear out, and more would be available. The entertainment staff kept it alive with activities every day, especially on sea day. I don’t care how old you are, hit the water slides at least once. Hint, if your racing someone, the slide on the right is faster when your facing them. We are 42 and 43 and it got quite competitive. The Bars Yes bars can get busy, I never found them understaffed at all, did it take a few minutes? Yes, sometimes. There are also plenty of waiters and waitresses around the pool deck on sea days. Flag one of them down and they will check in on you all day. Our favorite was Miramar bar on deck 19. We went there every night, there are comfortable chairs and always a nice breeze, never crowded either. Be sure to go there and meet Sergio the bartender, he keeps it fun and has an array of his own concoctions he makes. The Crew and Staff Everyone was always kind, gave you a smile and greeted you depending on the time of day. We went to the cruise critic meet and mingle. Captain DiPalma asked for reviews both good and where they can improve. He personally made his way around to greet everyone, and claimed he baked the cake. Every staff member was helpful, some made recommendations, especially at the chocolate bar. My Summary For having 5000 people on a ship it hardly ever felt like it. There is so much outdoor deck space or somewhere else to go relax. Our toilet did break one afternoon, it was fixed within 2 hours. The shows were of perfect length (40 minutes) they have some excellent talent in that group. We went every night except on Thursday. Two small issues I noticed. The restrooms are hard to find, they are there tucked away, but the signage could be a bit better. There are also aren’t a lot of waste cans, there’s a few recycle cans, but given I don’t leave my bottles and stuff lay around, I found this to be difficult. There are guests from all over the world on this cruise, remember it is very popular in Europe, in fact I think this particular cruise was about 40% American. Very diverse, many were fun and great to talk to, some were kind of pushy, not rude, but they would get in front of you to get what they wanted first. Kids had their own areas and activities. Many people dressed up for formal nights. The photographers on board are top notch, we purchased a package to bring home and the prices really weren’t bad at all. Our friends and family were waiting on our opinion and experience. I can tell you this; we have found our cruise line! We booked our next cruise on board on Wednesday night.As of right now we reserved 3 rooms for next June. Read Less

Newer Ship caught my eye as well as price and itinerary. The bathroom is quite small and you can not sit on the toilet without your knee hitting the sink. The shower stall is hard to stand in if you're a little large. My GF baggage was a little delayed eventhough we put our items together on the check in area. The dining room food was average at best and we ate most of our meals in the fee paying restaurants. I recommend the Surf and Turf roll in the asian market...delish. The on board shows were very nice and there were plenty of seating in the theatre. The ports were very nice but I do not recommend the Quad tour in St Martin unless you request a single rider vehicle. We books on the MSC website and it specifically says single rider and we were forced to take a double. Of course the business said blame MSC and MSC says blame the business. The Casino is below par...NO CRAP TABLES OR CASH POKER (only Beat the dealer poker) I would go on the ship again but at a better and lower price. 3 stars at best Read Less

Friends had went on this cruise a year ago. We needed a vacation and thought let's give it a try! First time cruisers, so we have nothing to compare it to. Beautiful ship, and scenery. Clean also. Unfortunately a lot of rude guests. People can really be inconsiderate aholes. The staff we encountered, were all pretty friendly and helpful. Food was good but not fantastic. A lot repeated dishes. Expensive up charges for specialty restaurants. We had a drink package that didn't include much, so basically worthless and to upgrade was astronomical. Elevators, they should have built more into the ship. You would wait forever at peak times and even slow times. Excursions were fun. Unfortunately MSC found a way to screw the guest and make some money on our SXM atv tour. We booked single riders and when our tickets came in, they marked everyone as double riders. So the poor atv tour owner got an earfull but it wasn't his fault, it was MSC BEING GREEDY. The tour was so fun and awesome but was somewhat ruined by that situation. We are doing a beach day today in Nassau, hopefully they can't screw that up. Spa package was nice. Massages were amazing. Thermal area was busy and hard to enjoy, especially with the inconsiderate guests. Cabins were clean and kept clean daily. Bed was horribly firm and uncomfortable. We woke up everyday sore. I truly hope the yacht club people didn't have those beds. Over $4,000 a person with that bed, oh hell no! All in all, an ok experience for us. Not sure if we will do again. Pretty sure not on MSC. My wife and I decided to try out msc after reading decent reviews about them online. This was my 10th cruise (past 9 on RCCL) and first one on msc. When we booked our trip in January of 2019 we paid extra for the fantastica experience since it offered 12 drink vouchers which we thought was a great idea! Well we sure were wrong! When we arrived on the ship we entered the room and didn't see any vouchers. So later in the evening proceeded to guest services to see if they could resolve. We got told that "msc discontinued the vouchers" and that "if we received them it would say on our cruise ticket packet." If it doesn't there's nothing they can do. So, the following morning we spoke with the bar manager at the cruise critic meet and greet and he gave us positive news stating that if we paid for them, we will receive them and he said it was wrong of guest services to deny them. Well of course there was a catch and when we visited guest services later in the day to find out what was going on, no surprise the bar manager changed his tune and re worded what he said earlier in the day. The main dining room service was miserable for us on the first night. We were seated promptly and waited well over 20 minutes to receive menus, water, and a bread basket. All of the large tables around us had prompt service, and had their entrees before we even placed our order, and those tables had 8+ people sitting at them while it was just me and my wife. Oddly I looked around and the section the rest of the groups were sitting in had the same server named on their tables as we did, except we never got served by those servers! After asking for the head waiter to explain what was going on, a server ran and found a random server to take our order in which he never introduced himself, never asked if we had any allergies, and never asked if we wanted to order from the bar. Overall the ship is clean, it's different, it has a nice layout, the sports bar is beautiful, rooms are clean and a nice size, bed is comfy. But the rest of the experience has ruined my views of MSC and I will never recommend them to anyone. Also the muster drill was comical, absolute chaos and people were so loud and so over packed into one area it was nearly impossible to hear what was being said or see the demonstration. For me I don't personally care since I've seen plenty, but for someone new to cruising they would've left there clueless as to what to do in an emergency. MSC also doesn't seem to care nearly as much as Royal Caribbean does about washing your hands and staying clean. The hand sanitizer stations are sparse around the ship and NOBODY uses the hand washing stations (we were even getting weird looks when we used them) Read Less
