This cruise was a mistake. The cost of the shore excursions was over the top in price. We were following one shore excursion and you could not understand the Tour Guide anyway so thank god i didnt pay for that.Every time they had an announcement over the ships intercom you had to then listen to the whole thing again in Japanese and some times this could take up to 5 mins. Another let down was the rundown condition of the Club Class Mimi Suite we had.It is starting to show its age and for what you pay it just isnt good enough. You could hardly open the door to the balcony, the area around the fridge was horrible with screw caps hiding holes from who knows what.Cabinet doors that did not stay shut. Draws that did not slide to open and the list just goes on and on.But i think the main problem was the Shower being over the bath.Do they not get that most of the people on board are elderly and find it extremly hard to use this setup. The only thing that saved this trip for us were the people in the Club Class restaurant who were the best and they are George Gilbert and Pachi i thank them very much for making every meal experience amazing,Thank you again Read Less

Everything about this cruise was fantastic. From the ports we visited, to the length of the cruise, the onboard entertainment, the exercise class choices, the gym facilities, the games and competitions not to mention the food, all exceeded our expectations! The restaurants were impeccable and the food was first class. The décor is exemplary and let's not forget the compliment the cruise staff. The cruise director and his assistant were very high achievers, always at the ready to assist with entertainment and of course anything that a passenger might request. The production entertainers put 110% into all of their performances. The cabins were well appointed and always well maintained by the cabin staff. We were even fortunate to have the weather in our favour with only 1 rainy day and 1 overcast day at sea. Most shore excursions were value for money and the arrangements for departing the ship were co-ordinated with great precision. Well done Princess Cruises!!!! Read Less

However to be fair I never used the apps very much ,its just not convenient for me . The weather was great . The ports were very good but we never seemed to stay very long at them . We were in Mexico for about 10 hours . The use of tenders to get ashore although necessary was a pain . I did enjoy the comedian and the cover band . We did take two excursions one in Jamaica which was a tour of Islands wildlife. And one in Cozumel which was the sunset cruise .. All in all ok Read Less

I chose this cruise for the specific period of time I had available and the port it departed from. It started off great. The embarkment went very smoothly. When I got to my cabin it was clean and ready for my husband and me. Our cabin porter, Tom, was wonderful. Any requests we had he took care of in a timely manner. There was plenty of closet space for clothes, shoes and so on. There also were lots of drawers and a very nice writing area. The bathroom was well designed with good lighting and shelves. However, there was no shampoo or conditioner, and a very small soap that was not replaced until it was a tiny blob. TheThe entertainment was the very best I have experienced! The productions were out of this world, as good as the Vegas shows I have seen. We did not go on any excurisons but there was plenty to do on the ship, or just relax as we did. The ship was very nice, but was hard to find a nice quiet place to read. My major complaint were the meals for dinner. I cook at home and I was looking forward to great food and good service. The dinners started with a menu the looked like it was printed on the cheapest paper available. Although they offered a meat, fish, vegertarian and so on, there was usually only one choice of each, and not necessarly what one might want or like. I really wish that they would teach the servers not to reach across someone to serve another seated guest. If a nice dinner and service is important to someone as it was to me I would not necessarly recommend this cruise to a friend. Read Less

Great ship even better with the Medallion now. Boarded in 10 minutes, internet very fast, staff found me to deliver drinks, could chat and locate our friends, amazing addition. The buffet was plentiful with so many selections, dinner always good and gelato was great. I recommend the Oceans Terrace bar Sushi or Lobster over egg salad as a light lunch. Was superb for a nominal fee. Staff very cordial, service excellent and willing to please. We had a small stomach virus outbreak, the staff cleaned and sanitized right away. Took precautions and kept under control. Worked so hard and the captain kept us informed with constant updates, never hid anything from the passengers. Overall a very hard working, happy crew, willing to go the extra mile. Movies under the stars were great, next day were available on demand. The television system was nice, you could find your own shows, watch when you wanted. A great experience and the bartenders put on an amazing show called the Flair Show showing their juggling and drink making talents! Giving away over 50 free drinks poolside, what fun! Amazing cruise! Needed to get away and booked this about 2 months prior to sailing. Food was typical major cruise line: not great, not horrible. My only real complaint was with the scheduling of activities. We had late dining and there were too many times where we couldn't see the production shows, go to trivia, or the game shows because of conflicts with dining. We didn't get off the ship in Cabo. We took a tour with Flavor Teller in Mazatlan, had what the locals refer to has second breakfast. Excellent tour and food. Highly recommended. We took a cooking class in Puerto Vallarta with Cooking Vallarta. We went to the market with the Chef and then went to his home for the cooking lessons and lunch. Very informative and good food. Also, highly recommended. Embarkation was mainly smooth. Although the Ocean Ready signage needs to be better. We were Ocean Ready, didn't see any signs, and ended up at a regular check in desk. It took a little longer than it should have because they weren't really sure how to handle us. It was probably the easiest debarkation we've ever had. Had breakfast, and pretty much walked off the ship, got our bags, went through CBP and got to the car in 10 - 15 minutes. Read Less

Love Princess cruise lines. The Regal Princess was a beautiful ship. Well maintained. Embarkation and dis-embarkation was a breeze. We chose anytime dining and visited several venues for food. Service was great and food, including Horizon Court Buffet was great. Don't miss the Crab Shack only on certain nights. Oh the King Crab legs. The entertainment was fantastic, with special visit by the Beatles. They were fantastic. We only did excursions in Jamaica. Falmouth dispelled thoughts of not being safe an clean. It was very safe and clean and we did the Good Hope Thrill seeker Experience. Al lot to do for the money and included lunch. Ziplining was a blast and the Plantation Tour was fantastic. Lots to do in other ports, but we had already visited them prior. There was not much for children, but that is what we liked. Partygoers were not rowdy or drunkards. Final Four on Theater Under the Stars was perfect! Loved the Medallion experience and Ocean apps. Made things so much easier. Wifi was fantastic everywhere, except on balcony with door closed. Only slight negative... Do not understand why they made the Adult pool in the Sanctuary 5-7 feet deep all around and other pools 2-5 feet! Read Less

We have not cruised on Princess for over ten years and that was on the Emerald Princess when we were totally new to cruising. Since then we have cruised over 25 times on NCL, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America and Carnival. The itinerary went from Fort Lauderdale to Princess Cay, then on to Falmouth, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and finally Cozumel, Mexico. We did not plan any excursions in Jamaica or Grand Cayman so we stayed on the ship during those stops. In Cozumel we only went ashore to visit the shops as we have been there dozens of times previously. We flew down to Fort Lauderdale a day early just in case of any flight delays. We had a direct flight with Air Transat which was four hours. I had booked us into The Link Hotel on Sunrise which seemed to be a nice hotel when I looked at it on the internet. It had breakfast included and an airport shuttle plus it was fairly close to the port. My mistake in not checking the reviews on “trip advisor” before I booked. The place was a dump. It was basically an old three storey motel where they cleaned up the main reception area so it looked nice. The elevator had pieces of the wall smashed out; the walkway (cement) to our room on the second floor was dirty with old spills that had never been cleaned up. The room had dark laminate flooring so you couldn’t see the dirt. I had on clean white socks and after an hour of walking around unpacking they were black on the bottom. The TV set had thin black lines all through the screen and there was a rip in the ceiling where you could see the insulation. The bathtub had a bunch of cracks in it and there was no plug or metal grab bars. The breakfast was continental and with only one staff looking after the whole area it was also dirty. Someone spilt dry cereal on the floor and it was never cleaned up. We won’t be going to that hotel ever again. We took a shuttle to the ship but we were the last people off so after leaving at 10:30 we did not get to our ship until 11:30. Luckily we were able to go directly aboard after our check-in. I was very surprised to find empty tables in the buffet on the Lido deck at that time of day. I am convinced that the ship was not fully booked. Anyway, the food on the ship was excellent and the service was beyond anything I think I have experienced except on MSC when we were in the Yacht Club. We had a mini-suite on deck 15 (Marina) and it was very convenient to everything. The cabin had lots and lots of storage space with large drawers, a closet with shelves and another larger open closet with dozens of hangers. The balcony was pretty small but there were two high-backed, tilting chairs and a large table so it worked fine for the two of us. We had a bathtub in this room and the only problem we had was with the water pressure. It took 8 minutes to fill the tub and the shower was fairly useless because you had to stand so close to the taps since the pressure did not make the water go farther than about 2 feet out. The ship itself was beautiful. Very classy with lots of gold, brass and marble. Very clean everywhere. I was not very impressed with the elevators since the interior was lovely etched glass mirrors, marble floors and THEN an ugly advertisement pasted on the interior of the elevator door for their “medallion” scheme. VERY tacky. The adult pool in the retreat area was very nice but it was not salt water and the shallow end was 5’2” so you mostly had no choice but to swim constantly unless you just clung to the sides. The water temperature was comfortable. You would have to get there early to get a lounger in the shade but we are early risers so it worked for us. We booked a cabana for the second day of the cruise and the sixth day and then booked a spot in the Sanctuary for the other three days (mornings only). These have padded loungers and are in the retreat pool area (adults only). This did not work well. The first (sea) day it was so windy that you could not use the cabana so we ended up cancelling it and they switched us to the Sanctuary. This is a lovely area with very comfortable padded loungers and constant attendants bringing you ice water, etc. However there is no area with complete shade. The tent-like roof is made out of a type of mesh material and the areas between the metal beams are open to the sun. These gaps are about 2 feet wide so you may find out that you were getting direct sun on some parts of your body and not be aware. The cabanas are $50.00 for a half day and the Sanctuary is $40.00 for a half day. We only planned to use them for the mornings. After the second day we cancelled the rest of our bookings since it was very hot and I ended up with sunburn on part of my arms. The entertainment was very good. We went to two musical/dance shows and two comediennes. The comedienne was hilarious. One of the shows was Beatle maniacs and they were good but I have seen better Beatle imitation groups. Most of the music all over the ship was either live classical (lovely) or 50’s – 60’s so we really enjoyed that. I should mention that most of the music was played at a level where you could actually still carry on a conversation!! We only ate in the main dining room once and the service was great but I was not really impressed with the food. It was better in the buffet and you had a much better selection. They had an outbreak of noro-virus around the fifth day of the cruise and we were totally impressed with their job of sanitizing the ship and looking after the passengers. This is the first cruise I have taken where they announced the outbreak and told us what procedures were being implemented to deal with it. We HAD to wash our hands (with soap/water) before entering the buffet. Servers handed us our dishes and cutlery. Condiments were removed from all the tables and the serving utensils on the buffet were changed about every hour. Staff were wiping down tables, chairs, handrails, etc. constantly. We did not book any excursions but booked a clamshell when we went to Princess Cays. Lovely area and lots of fish when snorkelling. The buffet lunch was great with burgers, hot dogs, bbq ribs, fruit, etc. There were several beaches for swimming and a few shops selling souvenirs. We did not tender into Falmouth or Grand Cayman. There was a sports deck on the ship but it was on deck 19 and in the full sun. There was an area to play lawn bowls, golf putting, shuffle board and a basketball court where they also had pickle-ball at set times. For us it was just too hot to stay up there for any extended period. INTERNET - I had to mention this because my husband cannot stop talking about it. The speed was nearly as fast as our high-speed connection at home. He was very impressed. It is much cheaper to book this package on-line before you go. The casino was good with a non-smoking section. Disembarkation went very smoothly and was not crowded at all. We were off the ship and waiting for a taxi within 30 minutes. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and we will be planning to take more with Princess. We booked this cruise because of the excellent price for a mini-suite and the fact that other cruise lines are putting their prices up into areas that make it too expensive for us to book. The whole "free" airfare, drinks, etc is such a scam and we use none of those perks but still have to pay the price for everyone else. Read Less

I've been waiting 50 years to go on a cruise and I hate to say that I picked the wrong ship and the wrong cruise line. The size of our mini-suite was great and the beds were comfortable but the furniture was rather outdated and worn. The couch was a tired green with a few holes and the furniture on the balcony needed an upgrade. The food in the buffet was worse than Golden Corral and there was very little entertainment on the ship. The three sea days we were bored to tears and ended up watching movies in our room each night. I guess if you are 75 or older you might enjoy this cruise with nightly Bingo and knitting classes or playing cards on deck but my daughter and I were so disappointed because we had heard and seen videos from friends who have been on cruises and were told of all the deck parties and all the fun activities on the ships. We never saw any or maybe if we would have known that there was a LGBT convention we would have picked another cruise because there were tons of activities for them or if we had known that 90% of the passengers were over the age of 70, we would have picked another cruise. I wish I could say that the dining was at least good, but I can't. The table we had assigned to us for the whole cruise each night sat over one of the engines I guess, because the whole table and all of our chairs shook every night except one and that is because we were still docked in St. Thomas. There were several menu choices each night but the food was just ok. I had again heard stories about how wonderful the food is on a cruise and how you come back home with a few extra pounds and I can honestly say that I didn't. Our two wait staff that we had for the week were super nice though. I have to give them credit for that. Siti and Dadang were great. The service on deck and out by the pool area was not so great. If you wanted a drink while sun bathing you had to go and get it yourself because there was never anyone walking around asking if you wanted a drink. Also if you decided to grab a slice of pizza, which by the way was the best thing I ate all week and needless to say we ate sliced pizza every day, you could never find anyone to bring you a glass of water or iced tea. It would have been nice if they would have at least had some sort of beverage stations set up around the ship to get a drink without having to pay $10 for an alcoholic one. I believe half the trip I was dehydrated from lack of water. Oh and let me fore-warn you to NOT TAKE PART IN THE TEETH WHITENING in the LOTUS SPA. WHAT A RIP OFF. We got suckered into it because we were told upfront that the cost would be $129 each for teeth whitening that would last 2 to 3 years. Well, after the process was done, you then get told that for it to last 2 to 3 years you have to pay an additional $249. WOW. So the $129 that I just paid is only good for a few days! So I broke down and bought the additional packets that were $49 for 12 treatments, which I was told was only good for 1 week of whitening AND WHEN I GET MY CREDIT CARD PRINTOUT THE GUY TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO ADD A $39 TIP. WOW was all I could say. The only good part about the whole cruise was the ports we visited. That was what I was most looking forward to was seeing the beautiful blue waters and that did not disappoint. We enjoyed a nice bus tour of St. Thomas and we had a great time walking through all the shops and open markets of St. Maarten. I will say that come Saturday morning, the day we got back to Ft. Lauderdale, I was up at 5am and ready to get off the ship! At least if you carry your own luggage off, you can disembark at 7:30 instead of waiting until 8:30 or in some cases 9:30 depending on what floor you were on. If I ever decide to go on another cruise I will certainly do more homework of the ship and will probably chose Royal Caribbean for sure! Read Less
