Beware there are people that come out when cruise ships are in town and want you to do their tours (and charge a huge amount) We went with a company that was set up at the wharf. Told us a time the bus would leave but waited a long time until they filled up the bus before we would leave. Was taken to a village where we were told we had to pay extra to enter this village - even though we were told there was nothing more to pay. Some paid but most refused. Discovered we all seemed to pay different amounts. Also had to pay extra to see a waterfall (most didn't) waterfall was hardly running. Was supposed to go for 3 hours but ended up going for 4 1/2. Couldn't get off quick enough. Read Less

We took a tour that we booked on the wharf ( we were scouted the previous day in Lautoka ). We were told $30, which we assumed to be Fijian money, but it turned out to be $30 AUS. We got on the bus just after 9am and were told it would be about 30 minutes before we left, which we accepted. An hour later, we were still sitting and waiting, and people were getting frustrated ( thankfully the bus was air conditioned ). The bus took off, we thought we were finally leaving, but it drove around the block and back to the wharf to collect more people. 75 minutes after boarding, we finally took off. The tour was supposed to be 3 hours which included a local village, waterfall, countryside, local buildings and shopping centre. There was no commentary - the guide sat in the second seat, talked a bit to those near here but no one else could hear. The local village was a drive by - the bus did not stop, we did not get out, no local dancing or anything. Arrived at the waterfall, more waiting as the guide ran back to the entrance ( ? to pay ) and finally off. No mention of what time to be back but we overheard something about an hour so we returned by that time. 90 minutes after arriving, with most people sitting in the bus for at least 30 minutes, we finally left. A tour around the town area but we had no idea what anything was. One stop to take a photo of a guard. Dropped at shopping centre and we walked back to ship. Very unenjoyable experience, so if booking a tour off the wharf, be very careful what you are paying for What we had was not worth the $30. Read Less

No air conditioning on the bus and too little shopping time. Most of us probably had heat stroke. I personally had swollen fingers from the heat.

No tour booked walked around the city and visited the local museum. The only port we were warned of pickpockets. Did not enjoy Suva at all not really tourist friendly and the Pacific's most boring museum!

Wisely we didn't get off the ship! It's a dirty third world country city. We were happy to stay on-board and skip it! Saw it from the deck, that was good enough for us. Heard unpleasant stories of people coming back on board!

We did not go to Suva, Fiji due to the weather - a second very BIG disappointment! I understand the reasons but that doesn't help a lot when your 74 and may not be able to go there again.

Didn't like the port however it has come on with new shopping but not a port I would return to however others said they did go country and enjoyed it.

Tour guide/bus driver barely spoke a word of English. Drove like a lunatic, often overtaking vehicles heading straight into oncoming traffic.

I'd have rather stopped at a different port. The town is sort of depressing with a limited selection of excursions.

We weren't impressed with this place. We would consider either taking a shore excursion or staying onboard for this port.
