They would not take no for an answer. We walked around the town for a few hours with little to see. The attractions are obviously outside the town. Read Less

Don't stop in Suva on a Sunday, the place is closed down. Our third visit to Suva and we should have stayed on the ship. The only shops open were rip off souvenir joints.

Dirty grubby hole best describes this port and plenty of scammers to be on your guard all of the time as they are very smooth, did a little shopping in one of the major precints and was surprised by the generosity of a local lady who paid for my stamps as the local post office agency staff wouldn't accept our ozzie money and weren't really interested in doing anything to help. We did our own thing in port and enjoyed our day even though we had to shop for a new suitcase. The excursions offered on the ship were way to expensive.

Suva was a disappointment. We did see the real Fiji, which is OK, but it was not the island paradise we expected. Either have the expectations of the poverty that exists in Fiji or take a trip to the other side of the island.

We like to look around Suva and shop. On this occasion we had lunch in a multi storey modern building within the CBD and will return to that location for a meal when next in Suva - was one of the best meal stops ashore we had experienced.

A local shop, Jack's of Fiji, offered free shuttles to its shop, a 5-min ride. Being a Sunday, the two markets near the dock and most shops along the main street, Victoria Parade, were closed. However, Tappoocity and Proud's Shopping Mall very near Jack's of Fiji, were open. Again, lots of private tour operators were at the dock gate. Many passengers, not doing tours, walked around town or all the way to the Presidential Palace passing shops, the Government buildings, Albert Park, Thurston Garden, etc. Read Less

We had lunch at Tiko's waterfront floating restaurant, which was a short walk from the ship. Prawns Lolo and fried snapper - very good. Much better that ship's fare.

There is market as soon as you get off the ship, otherwise you are best to get a driver to take you around, we were charged $100 aud for a tour of 4 hrs which was plenty. There are a lot of drivers waiting for passengers to leave the ship. There are also massages and hair braiding and henna tattoos right next to the wharf. We did hear some of the shore excursions were good, others were not too happy. Read Less
