We did not do any excursions on this island. We walked to the beach and shopping area. It was a long walk about 15 minutes, but found many people taking the path. Plus we got to see the real island this way. We spent a couple hours enjoying the ocean on our own, then walked the back streets and enjoyed all the shopping. Working restrooms are hard to find. Then walked back to the ship early and enjoyed lunch and the deck. Read Less

Took the Tiki Hut Snorkelling Trip - loved it - felt safe - easy access to the sea via steps not a ladder - friendly and efficient staff - a great excursion - best of the three!

We did the rock and roll boat ride it would have been great but the water was so rough it took our ship a hour to dock because of the weather.

We booked a private tour ahead of time with Bernards Tours, (www.bernardstours.com). This is our second time using Bernards Tours on St Maarten since the first time we had such a wonderful time. We had DJ as our tour guide on this tour. DJ was incredibly knowledgeable on the history of the island and bent over backwards to make certain our group had a memorable time despite the rainy weather we had during the first half of the day. I highly recommend Bernards Tours and DJ to all cruisers. They take care of everything and have you back to the port in time with no worries. Great service. Read Less

We had a tour scheduled with Bernards tours. Mailman was our guide, and the rum punch was flowing (for others, we opted out for water as we were feeling a little dehydrated, but I heard it was yum). We went all over the islands, with stops at Orient Beach, Marigot (long enough to get French pastries at Sarafinas), and Maho beach for airplane sightings, among other quick stops. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. I really wish we had another sea day to unwind before packing, because after we got back from St. Maarten, we immediately started packing up our stuff. Read Less

Majo Bay. Go there. Don't do any of the cruise line's shore excursions in St. Maarten. Go to Majo Bay instead, get something to eat at Sunset Bar (Grouper Fingers) and watch the airliners jetblast beach-goers as they take off, and capture some breathtaking video as they come in to land. Check it out on youtube and then GO. GO THERE. Read Less

Skipped the shopping and went straight to Maho Beach. It had been a few years and last time it was recovering from a hurricane with most of the Sunset Bar missing or wrecked. What a difference! The Sunset bar has expanded and now offers a full menu and live entertainment...that is, other than the airliners buzzing the beach. What a great way to relax, get some great shots and look out on a beautiful Caribbean bay. If you have never been there, grab a taxi and you camera and plan on spending a few hours being amazed. The trip ended with torrential rain and we skipped shopping on the way back as well. No regrets. Another fun day. Read Less

We were booked to take a catamaran ride around the island to Phillipsburg for shopping. After a brief shower on the pier, the catamaran staff told us that they couldnt' get their engines to run so they'd offer either a refund and no tour, or a partial refund and a bus trip to the other side of the island. We took the bus trip. It was nice to get to shop in the stalls for handicrafts on the french side, and to eat at one of the little restaurants on the French side of the island, but the bus tour was not what we had planned. A nice boat trip turned into a bus. It was good that they gave a partial refund. Read Less
