I have been to St. Maarten before so we decided to stay close to the ship and visit the shops near the ship. As always, they have some great stores and items.

Get a taxi from the port to Maho Beach ($16 return). Maho Beach is famous for its USP - and is definitely worth going for - but it's also a nice, slightly small, beach to have a dip in the Caribbean Sea.

We took a Shuttle to Little Bay Beach on our own, and it wasn't crowded at all. Beautiful; calm and clean Beach. Staff was OK! They weren't rude, they just took their time. We were right next to the Divi Resort in St. Maarten and the bathrooms were immaculate. We could've gotten a better umbrella, but the "kid" wasn't focused. All in All, Little Bay in St. Maarten was a nice surprise. We really enjoyed ourselves. Water was calm and tranquil blue. Read Less

If you want personal service go to Alpha Jewelry on Front Street. We were there last year and we were looking for a diamond band for my wife but decided against it. When we went back this year, the manager remembered us and the ring we were looking at. We ended up negotiating a good price and now have a happy wifey. Go to the Lazy Lizard for lunch and drinks. 10 out of 10 rating. Read Less

Took public transportation (vans which run about every 10 minutes) to Maho Beach for $2 per person each way. The vans have signs in the window showing where they are headed. Maho Beach is where the planes pass close to the beach as they land at airport. Was apprehensive about the van prior to the trip, but it was clean and easy to find. Most large planes land between 11:45-2:00. Read Less

We highly recommend Parrotville which is in Belvedere about 10 to 15 minutes from the cruise port by taxi. A sweet local man owns and runs this small Aviary. You can feed the birds to your heart's content and they will land on you and some will even let you pet them and will give you kisses. The taxi stand is an easy walking distance from the cruise port and taxis are readily available to take you anywhere. There is also a nice Beach right inside Phillipsburg. Chair and umbrella rentals were $15 for two people. Phillipsburg is about a mile from the cruise port and has lots of small shops and kind locals. There are lots of places to eat and drink along the waterfront. Read Less

Been here before so this time we went to Maho Beach by the Airport and hung out at Sunset bar and watched some planes lading then did some shopping back by the ports. Fun watching people get blown back into the beach from Jet Blasts.

Hard Rock cafe was good and a great view. The water taxi was a good choice. The only negative was people were constantely trying to sell you something...otherwise a beautiful beach. Read Less
