St. Martin was full of jewelry shops. It is perfect if you want that type of shopping.

The family went to the beach, Netherland side, second time there. Next time if we go back we would go on the french side, where most of the people go anyway.

Great shopping - but poor Island and I feel intimated by the locals - always trying to sell me something. The beaches are usually beautiful.

Stood in a long line in the hot sun for a water taxi. Waterfront area seems to have recovered from hurricane damage pretty well although I understand from others that there's still lots of work to be done around the Island.

We have done this beach break on our own before, however booked through the ship this time. It was very nice, orderly, good location, plenty of beach chairs all with lunch--great!

We took a taxi to Mullett Bay. It was pretty quiet in the early part of the day, but then the Catamarans started stopping periodically and things got a little busy there. It was still beautiful blue waters, and there were chairs and umbrellas to rent there and a small bar area. We got a nice visual tour of the island on our way there. When we returned to town we stopped for a few beers in town before returning to the ship. Read Less

Took a 45 min to 1 hour taxi to Maho beach, I've never seen so many people crammed into such a tiny beach. Standing room only, if that. We sat and had an overpriced drink at Sunset Bar after barely finding a table in the back and returned back to the ship immediately. Took another hour in taxi. So much traffic, so many people. We were so excited for this port and next time we won't even get off the ship. Next time I'd possibly buy an excursion and get far away from the crowds. 6 big ships in port, thats what likely killed it. Read Less

The lady at the information center was very helpful. We rented a 4 door jeep for the day for a total of $130.00. They give you a map of the small island but there are very little road signs or names of towns so it is very easy to get turned around as I did. Make sure you rent a GPS also. We were way off from where I thought we were, but we got back on the right track and drove around the island and had lunch near a Marina, there were some locals there selling their wares also. Very local food, it was excellent. Shrimp, Conch and rice. We did not have anything special in mind just to drive around and see the country side and have lunch. Leave plenty of time for the return trip coming from the airport area as it is congested. Their were 5 ships in port that day. Read Less

St. Maarten is beautiful, however, there were 7 cruise ships in port and it made the island impassible. We wanted to go to Maho beach but the taxi situation was ridiculous. Instead we took a water taxi over to a different beach and rented 2 beach chairs and umbrella and the kids played at the beach. My sister's family took a shore excursion and was stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours. Luckily the excursion was booked through Carnival so they didn't leave without them, but just a heads up to book through the ship if there are a lot of ships in port. Yikes! Read Less
