St. Marteen - We booked privately with Capt. Bob (Souliga Tours) for a boat cruise around the entire Island. We were the only ones with Matt on his cigar type speed boat. It was fantastic. We stopped twice to snorkel, a couple of swim spots, another spot for lunch (very good) and also at Maho beach to see the planes very close overhead. We would highly recommend this excursion. We did the NCL catamaran swim and sail $59 pp. Very good value, we had a great time, you meet in the theater and they take you out from there to the port and walk about 3/4 of a mile to the boat, on board the fun starts with the crew playing music, you got to a place and anchor off from a small area to swim or snorkel, gear is provided, take this hint you do want to use the life vest as your in the water about an hour, better to flow and snorkel than tread water the entire time, several objects under the water to view with fish all around them- old sail boat, sub and more, the guides carry bread out to feed the fish, there were all kinds of fish, this was first time for me snorkeling and we had a great time, after getting back to the catamaran you off again to a beach about a mile away in Mullet Bay, your not to far from Maho Beach were the planes land we saw one from our area. They anchor and offer you tubes if you want, do take one as you’re about 20-30 yards from the beach. Wife and I spent about 40 minutes in the white sand beach we had a great time, the current is strong so swimming back takes a little time, use them tubes! Helps allot! Read Less

Only thing I am going to say about this ... is the tour bus dropped us off on the French side and said he would be back in a hour and a half. It was time to go I saw him walk by we gathered up our stuff and paid our lunch bill which too about 5 minutes we turned around and he was driving away he left us the French side. He did a head count when we got on don't think he did one when he left, cause we were not on. the place were we had lunch found us a taxi and it cost us $40.00 dollars to get back to port. It was $40.00 each to go on the tour. Carnival gave us back our money for the tour and the taxi. Read Less

My friend and I walked to the boardwalk where at the far end we found wonderful umbrella, beers and lunch. The umbrella, chairs and 5 beers was $25. We split chicken nachos that were more than filling. We shopped along the way. One block in it's nothing but jewelry stores. We had heard about Orient Beach being a beautiful beach so flagged down a taxi and made it to and from that side of the island for $36. Perhaps should have gone with the cruise lines trip as I knew about the nude beach, but that's where they dumped us. We had a drink at their bar, but I wouldn't do that again. The return taxi was right back to the dock area where they have plenty of shops and dining if you don't want to venture out. Read Less

This port is always beautiful and easy to navigate. St- Maarten is a very clean and safe place. I did the ATV Tour which took me over to the French side as well. There are nudist beaches on that side if you would like to visit or lay out on the beach there. The shopping in St.Maarten is duty free. They have every high end store that you can think of. You will find similar stores in St-Thomas as well. I definitely recommend taking a tour of the island. It's beautiful with a lot to see. Read Less

We started off the day at Maho Beach, we saw some small planes come in right over our heads, followed by the first jetliner at around 11AM. Maho Beech wasn't very large and unless you're interested in seeing the planes, your best bet is going to Orient beech. We saw both beeches and spent the majority of our time at Orient beech, apparently recent heavy rainfall drew in all the seaweed but the beech was beautiful nonetheless. Do not travel from one beech to the other like we did, it took about an hour in traffic to get from one to the other. Once you get where you're going, stay put. Read Less

A few places to eat and a couple of bars. we weren't interested in doing an excursion, so that was all we did here. Little shuttle that goes up and down pier from ships to shopping. Just give the driver a tip, thats all it costs. Handy if you have mobility issues, or can't walk very far. Read Less

We booked with Bernard's tours. A private tour company NOT associated with the Ship. We were 10 people altogether so we booked a private tour @ $50 per person. We had an air conditioned bus to ourselves, "David" also had a cooler available with cold drinks and water. We stopped and saw some Sea Urchins and Iguana's at 2 separate stops. Very scenic and interesting. 3rd stop was at Orient Beach for about an hour. Played in the waves and enjoyed the swim. Had to pay $10 for 2 beach chairs with umbrella which included 2 free rum punch drinks. Not mandatory and not Bernard's Tours issue, just a beach scam. But only $10. Lots of annoying people trying to sell stuff along the beach. Ended Tour with stop at the Famous Airport with low flying aircraft landing. Awesome and worth every penny. A must do if in St. Maarten. Tour was short unfortunately as we were only on the Island from 7am tip 12:30 pm, ...But Bernard's Tours was very flexible and adjusted Itinerary to our needs. Read Less

This is by far our favorite port. We have taken several tours before, but now we just prefer to take the water taxi to downtown, and shop a little and go to the casinos. The price of booze in St. Maarten is probably the best you will find. You can play nickel slots at the casinos and get free drinks--try doing that on the ship! It has been our experience that St. Maarten has the most friendly vendors we have experienced. They do not have the hawkers that St. Thomas and some of the other islands have. Read Less

Another wonderful ports with lots of things to do and see. We have been here many times as this is one of the most visited ports in the Caribbean. It was very cloudy during our visit so we decided to take the water taxi down to front street/back street and walk around. There are plenty of shops with great sales, don't be afraid to haggle. There are many sights to see as well in town. We found some great sales on liquor and the store even delivered our purchases to the ship free of charge. Lots of the stores/restaurants offer free wifi. We sat near the beach for a while just relaxing, before heading back to the ship. Read Less

Good port with a little of everything. You can walk to the beach in 15-20 minutes or else take a ferry for unlimited trips for $8ish. Beach sections are individually run by vendors, so you will be charged for chairs.

This was our favorite port, of course, we arrived when we were supposed to and had a good amount of time to see and do things....plus not a lot of traffic like the other two islands. We booked a private tour (since we had 12 in our party) and went with Bernard Tours. I highly recommend them and our driver, Mailman, was great. We had a 6 hour tour. 1st stop was the side of the road to see a guy who would pull live Sea Urchins out of the water for us to hold.....the views there were beautiful too. Then, we stopped to another side of the road stop to feed Iguanas.....our drive caught and Iguana so we could take pictures with them (one of our family members tried to catch a small one and got all clawed up on his arm....don't recommend do that). Next stop, was a shopping area on the French side (near Sara Fina's).....shopping was your typical open air vendors with t-shirts, bracelets, etc. Read good things about Sara Fina's, so we ate there and it didn't disappoint.....so many wonderful pasteries. Next stop, Maho Beach (where the planes come in low)....it was packed but a cool experience....we drove up as a plane was landing and we got out and saw two planes leave (it was hilarious watching planes take off and people get blown into the ocean that were directly behind the plane). Then on to swim at a beach for a couple of hours (not sure what beach we went to but it was at a Divi Resort). Only downside was we were in Port on Christmas so a lot of things were closed. Then we got back to port and there was some great shopping there (I went to the Belgian Chocolate -yummy, bought Guavaberry rum and others, and some great sauces and jams). Read Less
