Not here very long so we walked to the furthest fort, toured that, then walked back to the ship.

We arrived at 5 pm and left at 1 am. It was interesting to see San Juan at night but it was a pretty useless stop.

A port rich in history. Due to our limited time at port we did our own exploring landmarks and sites. The highlight being El Morro. Don't forget your kite to fly on the lawns.

Our group of 9 can't wait to return to San Juan. We walked to Starbucks then walked to Castillo de San Cristobal. We took kites for the kids to fly in the grassy area before entering the National Historic Site. The cost is $7 for adults and free for kids under 15 or so. The offer the Jr. Ranger program. If you have a kid, they can complete age appropriate activities in a booklet and get a little badge. It's a nice little plastic souvenir....that's also free! We would have loved to visit the other fort as well, but there just wasn't enough time in port and our kids were too tired to take the 30 min walk. Some family members who accompanied us on the cruise decided to take a driving tour. It was also booked once arriving in port; not through the ship. They were really happy with it. Someday we hope to return and get to see more of this amazing city! Read Less

Weirdly, we went here at 5pm. Some things were closed by the time we got there. MSC gets ZERO praise from me here because I don't think it has anything to do with the ports of call except choosing them.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very nice. He explained everything to us when we asked our questions. He really seemed to enjoy this part of his job.

San Juan is very crowded. After we dropped our bags at the ship, we took a cab back into Old San Juan. I wanted to go to the Chocobar Cortes, but our cab driver told us we wouldn't have enough time - it takes so long. My friend wanted to see the street with the umbrellas, so that's where we got dropped off. Took some pics, bought some sodas & chips at the grocery, then caught a cab back to the ship. Read Less

So much to do in San Juan. Definitely recommend the castle del morro if you have not been before. We took a cab ($14 each way) to the public beach (Ocean Park). Lots of shops and booths near the port as well.
