We wandered around town, spent time enjoying Pan Pipe music in the town square and visited the Maritime Museum which was very interesting. Some of the places we'd planned to visit were closed until late afternoon but we found plenty to do until it was time to return to the ship. The waterfront area is worth a visit. Read Less

Tour consisted of two museums and a mausoleum so we didn't see much of the city. Tour guide difficult to understand. Not worth the money.

Had a long wait - over half an hour- for a shuttle bus to take us into the town centre. Good to walk round. Visited the cemetery and the Museum set up by Salesian missionaries.

We chose an independent tour company to take us by airboat to the Magellanic penguin reserve island, Magdalena Island. The company provided a guide that was there to answer questions as we walked the circuit path to the lighthouse and back. It was fantastic! The sea was too rough to go on to see the sea lions. Penguin trip may have been good. Didn't hear from anyone. The town was cold and drizzly so not much to see or do. We actually walked about 5-6 miles to the Magellan ship replicas. A mistake since it was too far.

We walked 4 blocks east along the Avenue beside the ocean in Puntarenas Chile. Then We walked 4 blocks east along the Avenue beside the ocean in Puntarenas Chile. Then we headed North along Monsenor Jose Fagneno Street before stopping in a souvenir shop that was open. Most stores are closed on Christmas Day. We bought a penguin fridge magnet. We continued walking uphill to Plaza Munoz Gamero where there is a monument honoring Ferdinard Magellan. I started looking for a toque as it is only 7C or 45F. Then we headed back to the Port of Entry. We took a couple of maritime clock pictures at the entrance. Once inside the port terminal we tried contacting more family to wish them a Merry Christmas because of the free Wi-Fi. Read Less

Very strong winds required 18 lines and 2 tugs to keep us up against the dock! From the dock you can catch buses into town. TIP: the buses are supposedly free, but we are not sure how frequently these free buses run, so instead we opted to pay $3 US per person to travel each way. Operators quote the prices in both Chilean pesos and US dollars, and seem happy to accept either currency. Walking in high winds can be difficult and we were really glad we had followed the layered clothing advice. Read Less

Free shuttle coaches from ship to town which was quite a way away, although we did spot a pedestrian path whcih seemed to go all the way. Nice little town and museum (although the main one was closed on the day we emabarked). Nice town square with lots going on and amazing weather (although cold in October).
