average port, people are friendly and you could walk freely around in the city without being held off from "small businesses" nice park area close to the port exit, the people make an effort to make it comfortable

However, the locals we interacted with seemed very friendly and engaging. Even after you had made a purchase they were more than willing to talk to you about their area....something you don't always see. Read Less

nothing really to unique about Puerto Limon. they had tours to take but nothing we were interested in doing. Mostly Eco type stuff that I could see would be of interest to some, just not to us.

We just went around town. Really, you can do all your souvenir shopping in the plaza attached to the port. Beyond that, there's a cafe that has wifi, otherwise there's just local shops and restaurants. We actually enjoyed go through town as we got a feel for the culture, food, and sounds. There's also a nice park near the port, lined with palm trees with a nice view of the ocean. Read Less

the canals and rainforest were lovely, the Banana plantation was closed due to some type of infestation. Once the shore excursions desk found out about it they gave us a partial refund on the trip which was appreciated but not expected.

It was good. we didn't go very far in the canal. Probable because we went to the Veragua Rainforest as well. Seen sloths, monkeys and crocks.

Long walk from the pier and it was hot. We didn't know there was a shuttle until we got back to the ship and saw it. Not much to do in the city itself.
