Grab a cab, get them to show you a few places around, head up Penang hill for the views and then make sure you ask them to take you for the best Cha Koey Teow...it is the best prawn + noodles you will ever have!

We arranged a private tour with a Tours By Local guide. Poh was excellent. We elected to do the historical tour, and she was very organized, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. There are some very interesting places to see in Georgetown. The Clan houses, the Peranakan museum, the temples, and the clan jetties were very memorable. Over several trips we have found that Tours By Local guides are great for private tours, and in most cases they are pretty reasonable in price. Read Less

Loved it, especially because there was no tender and we could walk into town. Took the hop on bus, but had trouble with the map because the stops weren’t always accurately portrayed. Give the botanical gardens a miss.

We didn't sign up the land excursion package, indeed we moved around by ourselves to the nearby by walking, to The Esplanade Food Center for Mee Goreng Sotong (fried noodle with octopus) + coconut shaved ice. After that we just cross the street and proceed to the nearby 3D Art Museum for fun photo shooting, Armenian Street for afternoon tea and street painting photo shooting, before we returned to the ship.
