This is a lovely clean city. Lots of building work. Opera house was nice to see as was the Place and old royal residence. Walked over 8 miles exploring. Lots of bars and restaurants. We will be visiting Oslo again when we get chance.

Next time we will go to the viking museum. Lots to see in Oslo, not least the 3 hour sail into the Fjord. Read Less

We went to the nobel prize and walked around the city - good value to walk for free rather than pay for an excursion that is simply stealing your money making up more fun things to do

Ship arrived at 7 am and left at 2 pm, so we did not book an excursion. It docked right in the city near City Hall. We were able to walk to the Royal Palace (no entry) and to the Cathedral and the Opera house. We toured the Akerhus Castle. It was an easy tour with almost rustic interiors for a castle. We would have done more had there been more time. Read Less

We had less than half a day port visit time in Oslo but ship docks right near center. Although we didn't end up booking excursion, took cab to Vigeland sculpture park to save time (but tram would have been MUCH cheaper if I'd known, there's one right at entrance) which is a must. Again we took uber but Oslo streets are full of construction so that was a mistake. Maybe take HOHO bus or public transpo. It's a small city. Bike tour might also be nice, saw a vendor right outside ship. Opera house is amazing architecture -- gorgeous inside and out. Then we walked to Karl Johans Gate (touristy) but Grand hotel looked cool. Took pic at Nobel museum which leads you to harbor with good fish places for lunch. Some take boat excursions (didn't have time to go to viking museums island area) which could also be nice, but you'll also see nice, small "fjords" if you go on deck of Regal as you sail out-- amazing scenery, one of the best ports to watch either sailing in or sailing away from Oslo. Don't miss it! Read Less

Prinsendam did not dock where the EXC guide told us it would. So there were no maps, there was no money exchange and no instructions of where we were or where we should go. There was one sign that pointed to "Downtown" with no distance. The Hop on Hop off was there but where we were was not on their map. They told us this was a "special" stop for the ship. We took the Ho-Ho. The bus went through a tunnel that did not allow pedestrians. So it did not help us figure out how to get to where we were going. But the HO-HO took us to where we wanted to go. It was good for transportation but lousy for sightseeing. There were decals over the front window on the top deck and on the lower deck there were decals that blocked our view. We enjoyed Frogner Park, the Folk Museum, the Fram Museum and toe Opera House. The HO-HO stopped running before we ran out of Oslo so we stayed in the downtown area and took a cab back. It cost $30. Again, the ship docked right in the city centre. A small walk to the cathedral (which was free to enter) and plenty shops. Clean and tidy and not as cold as I expected!

It is a ski jump. I live by Squaw Valley, no big deal. Interesting fact, the 1952 record was less then a third of today's record. (advances in technology of skiis.)

We took the post-cruise extension to Oslo; however, with only one full day, it wasn't long enough to do everything we desired. The city is lovely but most of the museums were closed as new ones are being built along the waterfront. The Thon Opera Hotel was a bit of a disappointment, not to the standards of the ship. Even the bartender remarked Oslo is not a great destination in the winter! Read Less

Went on this because trip also went to the Kon Tiki museum as well as the Fram Museum. All excellent and would have liked longer at them especially the latter but it was fascinating seeing the so well preserved Viking ships.
