Thought the shuttle bus would take us into the town for some shopping. It only dropped us off at the port gate. Only 'shopping' was for live and dead fish! Dead animal carcasses. Fruits and vegetables. It was a long, hot and sweaty walk into any kind of half-way interesting area. Most people just got back on the bus and went back to the ship. Read Less

We were excited to be in a new country - it was the next port after Dubai, and we just did our own walking tour along the corniche to the interesting Souk. It was incredibly hot, it took a long time to get off the ship because there were limited shuttles, and most people couldn't wait to get back to air con. It was not such a great Port really, but hopefully they will improve access for ship passengers in the future, there did seem to be some improvements happening! Maybe! Read Less

We took the shuttle into the edge of town and walked round the seafront to the market. We got lost coming out of the back entrance but got back to the coast quite quickly.

Unfortunately the local guide Malik did not have a very good command of the english language, so information was rather scant, but the other guide who was Spanish helped out.

We got off the ship and walked into the city. Visited the Souk and had lunch in a nice friendly cafe. We then walked to the "Incense statue" around the corniche. Safe and fun.

There is a free shuttle to take you off the port, you will then get hassled by taxi drivers to take you into town but it is only a short walk along the sea front. Don't miss the massive souk market about half way along the main road, try not to get lost as it is a bit of a maze. Have a great time haggling and grab yourself a bargain.
