Caught the tender over to Moorea and walked through the local shops. Had the absolute BEST fresh coconut ever!!! Seemed like it would never end, sweet, cold milk & the flesh was delicious too. Bargain at 200 pacific francs = $2

The sail into Moorea was truly magical with low cloud over the mountain peaks and a shower out on the water. The port was a tender port, so it took a little while to get to shore. It was Easter Monday, but still we saw many excursions via boat to do snorkelling with stingrays and sharks at a lagoon. We really wanted a drive around the island again as well as swimming so we found a good tour for 3 hours $50USD each. There were only 3 other passengers and we were a very happy bunch of people. Our driver was great – and open to suggestions along the way. We had started the tour at Opunohu Bay, going clockwise and up to the Belvedere lookout where there was a great view. We continued around the island which has its largest population in the north. There was not much in the way of shops and only one large supermarket that we saw. We stayed at Papetoai Public Beach where I enjoyed a lovely long swim in the calm waters. I was able to catch a taxi back to the boat for $5USD, then explored the various stall holders at the port before getting the tender back to the ship. Read Less

One of our favorite islands, the beach was pristine and a five minute taxi from the pier ($5). Beautiful water and stunning features (rock formations).

We hired a car and spent three hours around Moorea. Loved it! French Polynesia is spectacular. Bought a mabe pearl ring at Pearlescence-I highly recommend.

We have been to Moorea before. Then we took a half-day tour of the interior of the island, this time we simply went to a local beach using a taxi share with another couple for $5 USD each.

We enjoyed shopping. One of the pearl shops - Alberts had a van parked at the dock and drove us to the shop but, the quality of the pearls was no better than the ones on the dock for the price. So, we went back to shop there. Relaxed with a coconut water. By now we were tired of island tours that began to look too familiar and similar! However, this is a pretty island and we were able to see the beautiful mountain peeks from our balcony, the deck all around the ship and enjoyed the scenic view of the jagged cliffs, the colors of the lagoon from the shallow waters to the ocean' shallow water to where the ship was anchored carefully in the outlet. There were not many restaurants or anything on our drive, the stores were just ordinary and spread far apart. Read Less

took "Captain Taina" lagoon excursion pre-booked. Family/friend run with their own family private island. It had 2 snorkeling stops (statues, rays and reef sharks), drifted around waiting to see rare turtles, and spent a couple of hours at their private island where they prepared an awesome BBQ and we relaxed afterwards by lounging in the waters. Highly recommended. Moorea is the non-tourist version of Bora Bora. So spectacular and the calmness of just lounging around is incredible. This was the crown jewel of the cruise and I can easily imagine people getting off at Bora Bora and immediately taking a ferry to Moorea. Read Less
