After the tiring day at Cabo we all decided that we did not want to go to the beach, instead we wanted to go have tacos. When you first get off it is a little under whelming as there are crates and such, you take a little shuttle, like the ones at Disneyland but much smaller, to get out of there and into the city. We negotiated with a van driver who promised to take us to a really good taco place and off we went. He dropped us off and told us that he would be back in an hour and a half to pick us up. The tacos were actually pretty good and down the same street there was a Thrifty’s ice cream shop that we went to go eat at. He was right on time to pick us up and took us back to the port. Right across there was an Oxo, which is Mexico’s 711 we stopped there to buy some chips and drinks, this time they let you bring on plastic bottles. Read Less

Took photos of the suicidal cliff divers. The driver said if I didn't drink Pacifico at all times while sitting in the front seat need hey in trouble with federales. We couldn't have that, he was a nice guy! I forced myself. Read Less

This was probably my favorite port. Wish we got off the boat a little earlier because we ran a little short on time. We started by walking the blue line which was not easy to find. After you exit the port on the street look for a volunteer in a blue shirt. They will point you across the street to a side street where the blue line starts and give you a map. We took that most of the way until we broke off to go to the market. Its vendors for a square block. The prices were just so cheap it was hard to bargain. I bought really nice shot glasses for gifts that were 4 for $5. I had bought a similar one in Cabo for $4 that he was asking $5 for and refused $3. After shopping we took a large pickup truck taxi to the ferry to stone island. It was only $10 for the 10 of us and it was a 5 to 10 minute trip. We gave him $15. The ride to stone island was also very inexpensive 35 pesos a person roundtrip which is about $2. Save your ticket to return later. We walked awhile to try to find the beach and were unsuccessfull. Ended up taking another pickup truck and he only charged us 50 pesos for all of us or $2.50. We gave him 100. It was quite a ways from the ferry so i dont recommend walking. We went to Letys for lunch which was very good and right on the water. I had shrimp skewers which came with a very good dark pineapple sauce. I also asked for a shrimp dipping sauce on the side which was very good, but didnt come until I was almost done eating. The water was wonderful and warm even though it was overcast and only about 84 degrees out. Water was pretty cold in Cabo so this was a nice change. After taking the water taxi back we couldnt find a taxi large enough to take us to the cruise port and didnt want to split up so we walked. Bad idea it was a far walk. Take a taxi. Read Less

We did not care for this port. It reminded me of Progresso, Mexico. Just small area to shop where you are begged constantly to purchase items.

I was here 26 years ago and when I arrived we were at the Pacifico Brewery and it was ugly and industrial. Now I see the brewery in the distance, and there is about 1000% growth.

Another DIY experience. We took a taxi to El Cid Castillo, a resort about 11 km from the port. Next door is Aqua Sports, which will panga (water taxi) you to Deer Island for $15 each round trip. We snorkeled off the beach there a couple times, and the water was murky so it wasn't easy to see the fish. We water-taxied back, then automobile taxied back to the ship. Our second outing was to visit the historical part of Mazatlan and do a little shopping in the giant market full of tiendas. Read Less

We went on the shopping tour (for free) then walked to a hotel across the street where we were allowed to sit by the pool/ocean for free. We ordered beers for $2.50

We hung out at the cruise port and had margaritas and nachos right there. With three ships in port there were a lot of people, which made for lots of fun! It was so crazy off the hook fun there.

It's obvious Mazatlan has less money in the economy. Their taxis are relentless and will honk and harass you untill you take their taxi. Watching the divers were fun and there is quite a bit of beach but overall wasnt that memorable.
