We took a taxi to Ephesus for EUR 70 round-trip. The driver waited for us at the site. It was fully worth is. Afterwards we explored Kusadasi a Little. A very clean and nice harbor town.

We took a private excursion with Ephesus Deluxe tours, which I booked online. There were 4 of us and we were met by the guide when we exited the ship and taken on an almost new large van to Ephesus, about 20-30 minutes away. It was raining all morning, which took away some of the enjoyment, but Ephesus was still interesting. The ruins are beautiful and the Terrace Houses are not to be missed. They have an ceiling area, so we were away from the rain (or sun),so that is a plus for visiting the Terrace Houses too. Due to the rain and dodging puddles, we didn't stay in Ephesus as long as we would have and didn't visit Sirince Village as we were suppose to, but weather can't be helped. Our tour included a delicious lunch at a Rug factory. The rug demonstration was interesting and low keyed---only lasting about 20 minutes. We were dropped off near the ship where we walked into some of the local shops. They had prices in Turkish money or euros and the prices were good. We highly recommend Ephesus Deluxe tours--they took US funds and were very easy to book online. Read Less

Ship docks right next to the town enabling easy stroll through this tourist trap. rained very heavily and therefore didn't go to Ephesus which is the reason cruise ships come here.

Ephesus is amazing. So extensive, even though the great majority remains under buried soil. Ekol Travel is a great agency based in Kusadasi.

Kusadasi - This is just a myriad of Bazaars and shops albeit quite pleasant. The Turkish shop-owners try to get you in every shop but they are polite and often humorous.

LOVED Kusadasi. we arranged for a private tour prior to our cruise (cost about 1/2 of what the cruise line charged). we were picked up from the docks and traveled in a 10 person, air conditioned van. We saw the House of the Virgin Mary (we wish we had brought a bottle so we could put some holy water for my father in law, who could not come on the trip), St. John's Basilica (ruins of -- but there was an orthodox service going on at that time, so they did nto let us see St. John's crypt, which was disappointing), ephesus museum (definitely should see!) and then of course, Ephesus (Terrace houses are a must-see!).I felt like we so much in Kusadasi, and would highly recommend it to everyone! We were haggled about seeing the carpet making factories, and that was a bit of a downer. the souvenirs are cheaper here than in Bodrum, so if you want souvenirs, get them here (they're the same stuff, just a bit more expensive in Bodrum). Having already been to the Ephesus we just walked off the ship. The shop owners are bothersome.

As we had visited Ephesus twice before we decided to stay in Kusadasi and as we were there 30 years ago and keen to see if it had changed - it had but sadly not for the better!

This was the only port stop we did not book a tour for. We had researched the port and discovered there was a large bizarre just at the port so thought this would suffice. We were travelling with our 2 teenage daughters, 16 & 18yrs. We were all dressed fairly covered but this did prevent a lot of unwanted attention from the Turkidh men! This was horrible. They kept touching my girls and me and made several inappropriate comments. They got several proposals of marriage - whilst you may read this and feel, we have no sense of humour, please imagine the bizarre is quite enclosed and like a rabbit warren and we certainly did not encourage this attention we just wanted to shop. It was very uncomfortable and unsettling. This was our first taste of Turkey and we will probably never return. First impressions! Read Less
