Wow! We didn’t want to go to Turkey because of the political unrest but we are glad we did. We did a tour with Tours By Locals and shared a van with 5 other people. The total cost was 300 euros which was great. Our guide, Erkan Z, was excellent. We saw Ephesus, Virgin Mary’s home and went to a lovely lunch. And of course we did a rug place. They were beautiful, but we couldn’t afford one! The city is modern and clean and friendly. It is 95% Muslim but not all fundamentalists. We would go back in a heartbeat. It is also inexpensive. Kusadasi, Turkey absolutely amazing day. We were toying between going horse riding or going to Ephesus. We decided on the latter and we wasn’t disappointed. We took a private tour from outside the port for €140 total so I guess if more of you it’s cheaper but we were by ourselves and had a fabulous guide all the way through. We then went to see other sites including The Temple of Artemis, Seven Sleepers plus others. We stopped at a pottery barn and saw a demonstration. Such a fab day Read Less

Kafkas spice market (right near the port entrance) is a great place to pick up some snacks and souvenirs. They're very honest and won't try to charge you overinflated tourist prices.

Our cameras couldn't stop clicking! Amazing views all around! Crowded and tiny streets everywhere to explore in main towns with lots of shopping and eating. Opa! We took a boat from the port to Oia instead of via the cable car or donkeys. Much faster. Wished we would have eaten at Katena's restaurant upon disembarking at Oia, but got hurried into bus up hill to complete voyage. Our Greek relatives texted us to go there since they give the best portions and you can also dangle feet or swim in sea right there. Got text too late! Read Less

We met friends at Kusadasi and had lots of fun around the bazaars. Huge tip! Try the local Council run cafes and restaurants. True Turkish food at an excellent price. Love, Love, Love Kusadasi.

We hired a taxi to take us to Ephesus for the day and visited the house of the Virgin Mary, the ruins, and a market for souvenirs. It was only 60 € and worth every penny!
