Kodiak is a nice small town, easy to walk around. They had good souvenir and other shops. There was a good craft show in the Tribal Council Hall.

The tour we wanted was full, so we walked the town. Good museum and churches to see. I think this is an "up and coming" port and they should offer more tours because it is gorgeous.

Kodiak wasn't the most exciting stop and we were w a little tired, so walking to churches and the crowded wildlife center weren't the highlights for us. The fact that there was a McDonalds we could walk to put a spring in my kids' step. We lived without wifi or decent coffee for long enough, so it was a nice stop for many of the cruise passengers, albeit not exotic in any way other than the Big Mac was called the Denali Mac and cost $6.50. We chose to walk back to the ship, as did dozens of others. It was a really nice walk, just under 1 mile and fairly flat if you took the right path. It sure beat standing in line for the school bus transportation and was probably faster too. It was also a good way to see some of the places the locals worked and shopped. The sail away from the island was great. We saw so many great animals in the water from the ship without paying for an excursion. Read Less

We walked around the city and then did the city tour and Russian Tea. Wonderful town and people - we enjoyed the group the played traditional Russian instruments while we enjoyed our tea. Great tour.

Took the highlights of Kodiak trip. Other than the trip to Fort Abercrombie, could have done it on our own: visiting the Baranov Museum and the Orthodox Church. (There was a shuttle into town.) It was vastly over-priced. Later went to the Wildlife Museum--across the street from the Baranov-- and then walked around Kodiak and visited the local brewery where we sampled some of their beers, including sipping Sarah Pale Ale. Great when the weather's good. Two good museums. Wish the cruise lines would negotiate a tour of the Coast Guard station.

This is my least favorite port on the 14-day cruise. Not much to do here. Not scenic unless you go out of the area, which I never did.

The tour that includes the Russian Tea was a very pleasant one. It is operated by a local woman in a mini-bus and allowed us to see much of the town as well as hear her stories of life in Kodiak,
