Genoa was our embarkation port. The walk from Piazza Principe termini to the cruise port is only 10 minutes. However, there are some stairs and crossing a busy street. After disembarkation we stored our luggage at the train station. We took a train to Santa Margharita Ligure, about 1 hr from Genoa. Then a bus to Portofino which took 30 mins. Portofino was pretty and we had lunch there, but small. Next time we will stay in Santa Margharita Ligure. We didn't actually see much of Genoa. Read Less

This is not the first time for us in Genoa. We've seen most of the sights. An excellent gluten free pizza in Rossopomodoro at the port with a great view of the yacht.

The port is right in the town. We took a sight seeing bus to the Ducal Palace. Because there was very little information in English, we couldn't work out initially what there was to see there. Once up the stairs and in the main throne room, we found some information in English. Up the tower to the cells, and a bit more information. They were showing a film in relation to the history of the cells but all in Italian. The sight seeing bus was worthwhile. Read Less

We didn't stop in Portofino due to bad weather but went to Genoa instead & had a pleasant stroll around the city & visited the Cathedral which is certainly worth a visit.

Our least favourite port, it was incredibly industrious. I would definitely recommend taking an excursion, or else you'll find yourself walking back to the ship after 30 minutes.

The cruise terminal is a 5 minute walk to Genoa Piazza Principe train station. Went to Milan, saw the Duomo (note: Duomo roof tickets will not get you inside the cathedral). If you don't have Last Supper tickets, I recommend the Leonardo 3 museum inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, which has an excellent exhibit on the Last Supper and imagines what it would look like if it had been painted yesterday. However, in retrospect, I should have stayed in Genoa, which looked way more interesting and much less frustrating than Milan. Read Less

Been picked up in the airport was pretty OK. However getting off the bus and sorting out the baggage, were pretty unorganized. The transit hall went fine, in spite of some wait time.
