All afternoon for free time in the city and then the night time cruise up and down the river after dinner was stunning. All of the riverside buildings are lit up and look spectacular. Read Less

The nighttime cruise was great, as the weather was beautiful with all of the impressive buildings lit up. I enjoyed a bike ride on the Buda side. Didn't take the tour.

Stayed at the Hilton City Center which is conveniently located on the Pest side of the river. We purchased a 24 hour travel card at the BKK desk at the Airport. With the 24 hour travel pass you do not need to validate the pass, since it is valid from time of purchase. The BKK desk is in the arrivals area to the left immediately after exiting customs in either Terminal 2A or 2B. You can also buy other travel passes here for museum discounts, etc. From there we took the 200E bus which stopped right outside the doors to the left. This takes you to the Kőbánya-Kispest M3 train station and then took the M3 directly to the Nyugati Palyaudvar station. Hilton is up the escalator next to the mall entrance or you can walk outside, turn right and it is about a half block to their entrance on Vaci Ut (street). It was easy to get around from here on the M3 subway which went into downtown. Read Less

Did the pre-trip here and found our way around on our own. Fun city but required time to learn the bus system. Los to see on both sides of the river.

We were only here a day! The cruise director explained all the buildings as we came into town at 8:00 am - it was an amazing way to start the day. Took the city tour provided by the cruise line....got us grounded. Then went to the market, the Jewish synagogue, and did an evening cruise along the river to look at the buildings! Totally enjoyed - shouldn't be missed. Read Less

We didn't know what to expect from Budapest, and were pleasantly surprised. It was a very exotic, friendly, and fun city. We loved the food, the baths, and the sights. The subway was amazingly clean and fun to ride.

We made a decision to stay on board instead of doing the City Tour to enjoy cruising down the Danube since the flooding conditions had kept us from doing that. It was a tough choice and we wished we'd had more time in the city although the trip down the river was definitely worthwhile. The Thermal Baths were amazing and just the ticket to soak our travel weary bodies. Read Less
