A beautiful harbor to sail into. The main shopping street of the city was a short walk from the dock. A lot of construction going on so there was a lot of noise and barricades up. A few beggers around but they are not allowed to approach you so that is good. Quite a hilly city so be prepared and put your walking shoes on. Nice for a stroll around. Read Less

It was New Year's Day and the weather was so just did the hop on hop off bus without getting off. Had an enjoyable walk around the waterfront.

Did not take a tour in Auckland, have been there before. Took a local bus to the MOTAT (museum of transport and technology). Inexpensive and fun day. Worth a visit.

Nice city for wandering around on foot. Cruise ship was docked downtown, within a few blocks of anywhere you might want to go.

We walked around the area of the city near the port. We took ourselves to the Sky Tower, which was fantastic as it was a very clear day and you could see for miles. Unfortunately not good for people with fear of height problems. We also went to the Maritime Museum. This was interesting, but it would have been better if the air-conditioning was working. Read Less

Did the "hop on, hop off" bus. Owing to the ship(s) in port, the busses were overcrowded and we had to wait for over a half hour for a second bus more than once, so we didn't get to do as much as we had hoped. However, we highly recommend Eden Garden, tucked on a mountainside in a quiet area of Auckland. Being springtime, it was especially beautiful and unexpectedly peaceful considering the number of passengers on the busses. We also enjoyed the Auckland Museum and surrounding domain, greenhouses and gardens. Read Less
