We took the Hop On Hop Off bus - as it took us to the extremes of the town and enabled us to visit the Sunnmore Museum (recreation of traditional, old houses) and the Aquarium. Able to spend a couple of hours at each, without the 'rush; of a guided tour. Alesund was a bit dull, and we were docked overnight Read Less

Took an expensive return bus to Åndalsnes but the scenery worth every penny - had a quick lunch with a view and did a 45-min hike in Åndalsnes before heading back. The bus journey is actually part of the "Nutshell" package. Spent another two hours in Alesund to appreciate the Art Nouveau buildings and habour, but had no time to visit any of the museum. But it's Norway - stay outdoors when weather is great! Read Less

We hiked around and enjoyed the setting. Remarkably few restaurants near the pier. For a Monday, the city seemed quiet.

Here we caught the Hop On Hop Off bus and toured the city and went up the mountain to the observatory. What a beautiful city! It is small enough to walk around easily with lots of interesting things to see. There are museums and a beautiful church with a sculpture in the cemetery that is dedicated to the town's citizens who gave their lives in the resistance movement during WW2. Read Less

Easy to walk straight into town from the ship. A very nice harbour area and shopping area. We visited the Alesund Museum, which was very interesting.

Alesund - we took another Disney excursion to the island of Giske & Godoy with a Lighthouse tea break which cost $85 but without tea a little less. Tea consisted of Norwegian waffle & cup of tea nothing special about this tea break. We enjoyed the islands and this excursion was the best way to see them. Alesund is a beautiful town so take the HOHO bus ($18) or train tour ($12) for a good way to see the architecture. both tours stop at the Fjallstoua viewpoint overlooking the town or you can climb the 400 steps up from town center. Alesund is a nice town to walk around with grocery store near ship. We took the train tour which was about 1hr 15min and enjoyed it. Read Less

Managed to get a swim in the Fjord next to the aquarium. Would have been disappointed to visit the Fjords and not do this.

It was okay, but it was raining, no place to stand for shelter, buses were full and we had to wait for a second bus. No big deal. Rode to top of a mountain and had a very nice view of the harbor.
