Cabins are spacious with luxury amenities, great beds, large closets, and generous washrooms. The barge is always rented as a charter, meaning that you have both cabins and a great ability to tailor the meals and tours to your timing and tastes. Meals prepared to your liking and timing by superlative chef. Each meal expertly paired with local wines and cheeses (forget your diet for this week) Exceptional guide with van takes you to local attractions, tailored to your interest. We had a wonderful trip on Road to Mandalay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always smiling. The Management was available at all time. The guides were very informative and the excursion places well-chosen. We did the bicycle in Bagan in the morning and it was an unique experience. Seeing the temples in the morning, going outside of the tourist places, seeing the balloons among the temples, an unforgettable memory. The food was always delicious and we had a great first night on the top deck at Bagan eating BBQ from the Thai Chef. We saw other ships on the way and Road to Mandalay seemed to have the biggest top Deck and a swimming-pool not like the other ships. We also tried the SPA and the massage was very relaxing and I felt so refreshed after. The SPA therapist spoke a little English but was very attentive to my needs. So far, it was the best cruise I have did thanks to the Chef, the staff and the nice cabin and I will come back! This cruise could be child friendly. Read Less

We did the "Images of a Golden Land" cruise from Bagan to Mandalay on the "Road to Mandalay". The 4 days cruise on the Irrawaddy River was a truly memorable experience. The accommodation, restaurant, bars and common areas are all immaculate as is the food and level of service and the informative talks and quality entertainment much appreciated. 1st class throughout! The schedule of sightseeing was well considered and small groups ensured a very personal experience. Our guide Yi Mon did an excellent job. Top marks to Manager Steve Lock for running a tight ship! We had 2 nights in the Governors Residence in Yangon prior to the Cruise and the only thing I wish we had done different is to have had an extra night or two there, as we didn't really have enough time in Yangon. After disembarkation we chose to continue our travels from Mandalay Airport as it was more convenient than to return to Yangon. We are planning to return for a cruise on the Orcaella. Read Less

The Road to Mandalay is an extremely comfortable and attractive small river cruise boat. We spent 3 nights on board, cruising from Mandalay to Bagan on the Irawaddy River. The cabin was modern and very comfortable. Food was excellent overall, with more European than Asian dishes. Almost all were delicious, but one lunch buffet was disappointingly ordinary. The staff were extremely welcoming and hospitable. This experience is more of a floating hotel than a cruise, as only one day is spent cruising--the rest are spent moored in Mandalay and Bagan and taking guided tours (included) of these fascinating areas. Passengers were divided into small groups for the tours. Our English speaking guide, San, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Though pricey, we enjoyed the experience and recommend it for the middle of your Myanmar travels.   Read Less
